Arians: Bucs Won’t Sign Brown

March 27th, 2020

Not happening.

If new Bucs quarterback Tom Brady has control over the roster like some suggested he would when he signed with the Bucs, he already got stepped over by his coach.

Rumors were all over the place that whackjob receiver Antonio Brown was coming to Tampa Bay after Brady signed. Even former NFL suit Michael Lombardi said it was a done deal.

And for good measure, Brown himself took to local radio to campaign for a job.

Arians put these rumors to bed yesterday while appearing on national radio.

Hopping on “Tiki and Tierney, heard on CBS Sports Radio and seen weekdays on CBS Sports Network, Arians flat out said Brown is not coming to Tampa Bay.

“It’s not going to happen,” Arians said. “There’s not enough room and probably not enough money. It’s just not going to happen. It’s not a fit here.”

Arians answer was not good enough for co-host Brandon Tierney who began pressing Arians why he doesn’t want Brown. Tierney said, “Well, there is room,” and reminded Arians he just lost Breshad Perriman to the Jets. Tierney asked Arians if he wouldn’t want Brown on the roster if Brown agreed to work for the league minimum.

Arian still said, it isn’t happening.

“I just know him,” Arians said. “It’s not a fit in our locker room.”

While Arians didn’t say it, Joe is convinced the memory of having not one but two cancers in the locker room in recent history is still fresh in the mind of Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht. This team still hasn’t recovered from what a pair of rotten Redskins did.

For those bummed out by this, Joe will bring again the words Joe told Jeff Cameron of ESPN Tallahassee: If Mike Tomlin couldn’t handle Brown and Chucky couldn’t handle Brown and Bill Belicheat couldn’t handle Brown, what makes anyone think Arians could?

You can hear the clip of Arians talking about Brown courtesy of CBS Sports Radio below.

Bucco Bruce just earned even more of my respect. That lunatic belongs in a padded cell, not a team. I actually question just how he and Brady are “friends.”

I love Bruce. Puts out the fire an will not allow a bad apple on the locker room.

  3. Waterboy Says:

Thank goodness!!! Mr. Big Chest can go back to Pittsburgh and beg to come back.

For those that denigrate Bruce Arians….exhale a focused air stream violently at your Southern Hemisphere.

    what he said

  6. dmatt Says:

There’s a fit for him and a bed available at your local mental health facility in the the Tampa/St Pete area. Being that he’s selfish n in a world of his own, they would even provide him with his own room, which would be room #84, n scrubs with his number n name stenciled on the back.

  7. Anonymous Says:

Looks like there wont be an Edelman either…not enough money….oh well, Brate could be our poor mans Edelman….and of course Godwin in the slot is just as nasty.

Joe are you awake ?? Is it time for your medication ??
Tampa’s locker room was toxic long before DeSean
walked in the door..Why does it appear the market
is tepid for your Favorite QB ? The new QB will not
break & he will throw 50+ touchdowns…Do not
know if Alex Smith is healthy,he would be worth a
look as a good #2 QB…Elvis has left the building..

  10. Adrnagy Says:

Because Bruce is the bad apple ..

He definitely is a cancer but could you imagine?! Lol!

    Bad move

  13. Jeagan1999 Says:

    Good. Brown is toxic.

Besides, after getting a chance to really work with a few guys we have named Evans, Godwin, Howard and Brate, Mr. Brady will be saying “Antonio who?”

  14. Hodad Says:

He’s not a fit in any locker room.

  15. Bucsfanman Says:

We’re all guilty of it at times. It’s a big name. Lets not forget how this creep quit on the Steelers, or threw tantrums with the Raiders.
We have two home-grown beasts at WR. We don’t need Brown.

Ardagny- I don’t get your BA hate. I don’t really care, but it is confusing.

  16. Bird Says:

Good. That guy is a cancer. He may be worst and crazier then TO which is not easy to do
Plus he still has the two sexual assault cases pending

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Not even at league minimum………that speaks volumes…..

We don’t need a Baker Act candidate on this team.

  18. Rob in Land O Lakes Says:

It is wonderful actually having an adult in the room.

  19. Sierra048 Says:

    Bucsfanman,

Ardagny is a Nuggler. Arians didn’t bring his idol back to QB he Bucs. He’s a Winston fan, not a Bucs fan. Actual pretty simple as to why he hates Arians.

  20. adam from ny Says:

    dude is just to disruptive…

but i could see the bucs taking a chance on him at league minimum at some point later in the season if there are injuries…

i don’t think they want him in training camp tho…

a later signing due to injuries for basically no money would maybe work…

he could get yoked up real bad by a lineman in the locker room if he’s to disruptive tho

  21. Bucs4Life Says:

Godwin is bigger , faster , stronger than Edelman & he is our slot receiver. If anything we need a bigger burner who can play outside

  22. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    GOOD.

He definitely is a cancer but could you imagine?! Lol!

Can I imagine him being a cancer after a week and a half and massive distraction in the typical AB cycle of spout off at [coaches/teammates/management/etc.] –> get reprimanded –> apologize –> spout off again –> get released.

They have that leopards/spots analogy for a reason. People like AB don’t change. Not worth the 2-3 weeks of headaches with maybe a game or two of production mixed in. Our offense will be lethal enough. Do not want under any circumstances.

  25. NashvilleBuc Says:

Guys like Brown astound me. So much talent. So much potential to make an impact on a team. So much potential income for his family and friends. Unfathomable fame and glory. Yet they piss it all away.

How do they get this way? Broken families? Spoiled by a lifetime of being told how great they are? They can’t all be “just crazy”. It boggles the mind that they can’t get out of their own way and just do the thing they love – be loved for it – and get paid millions to do it.

    not surprising….

  31. stpetebucsfan Says:

Lets just do the math for all these jokers crying for AB…Edelman..Hump and others.

Brady throws the ball approximately 38X a game..he completes 63% or there are approximately 24 catches each game.

IF you have 3 targets that’s 8 catches or possibilities per target….now move that number up to five if we add an RB who can catch and OJ rebounds this year…five targets and your down to just under five opportunities for each receiver.

In reality of course some receivers are just so talented they get the lion’s share…ME and CG…our two TE’s may need to get fed and hopefully draft an RB who is hungry for some throws.

The bottom line…there is only ONE football. WE DO NOT NEED MORE RECEIVERS. The draft is so loaded that grabbing one for depth and competition for the #3 spot might be worthwhile.
