Accountability For Kickers, Too

March 24th, 2020

Bucs QB will vouch for him.

Deep into the 22nd century, social anthropologists of the day will wonder why the natives of west-central Florida tolerated so many bad kickers early in the 21st century without a violent uprising of the local tribesmen.

Honest to goodness, an NFL team could not try to swing-and-miss on kickers year after year after year in the second decade of the 21st century like the Bucs did in the last decade.

Joe is convinced poor Dirk Koetter still wakes up in the dark of the night, soaked in sweat, mumbling out loud, “Aguayo… Aguayo… “

Will this rash of bad kicking continue into the third decade of this century? It shouldn’t.

Yes, a lot of Bucs fans made a big deal of the release of Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski yesterday. Gostkowski has been one of the most consistent kickers in the NFL since he broke into the league in 2006.

And what has become as predictable for the Bucs as hurricane season is in these parts, the Bucs had a kicker who choked way too often last season.

Matt Gay attempted 35 field goals last year and made just 27, a 76 percent batting average. No NFL kicker who attempted at least 35 field goals had a worse average.

While Gay displayed an impressive long-distance leg, that doesn’t mean squat if you can’t hit the cans of corn. One could honestly ask if Gay was just halfway decent, would Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, still be with the Bucs? Gay easily cost the Bucs two wins.

Even with a bum hip that required surgery for, Gostkowski missed just one field goal in 2019 (though he butchered extra-points missing 4 of 15 attempts.)

The Bucs seem to be shoving all of their chips into the middle of the table for 2020 and 2021. They just signed a quarterback who will turn 43 this summer. Their coach will turn 68 this fall as well.

So if it’s all-or-nothing the next two seasons, then why not bring in Gostkowski, 36? San Francisco kicker Robbie Gould is older than Gostkowski and he kicked a field goal in the Super Bowl not quite two months ago.

Why not bring in Gostkowski and let him and Gay battle it out?

Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians seems to be big on accountability. In just a handful of months, Arians launched two young former first-round picks, both starters, because they didn’t play to his standards. So why should Gay, a fifth-round pick, be coddled?

  1. Buc believer Says:

That’s great in the thin air of the mountains. Problem is Mr. Gay you play at sea level.

  2. Jeebs the Honey Bear Says:

If he’s healthy, no reason he shouldn’t be our kicker this season. GO BUCS

  3. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

They definitely need to bring in competition. I honestly believe that if he could have done his job in the Giants and Falcons game the Bucs would have been 9-7, JW would have not hit that magic #30 mark, and there would have been enough positives to give one more year to the franchise QB. I know everyone is excited to see the GOAT in town, myself included, but five years from now when we are trotting out Glennon 2.0 as our QB we may all regret this. I think Arians should ask Brady: “are you ok with Gay as our kicker if we are down 2 late in the NFC championship game?” I know I would be concerned.

  4. Jean Lafitte Says:

Did that sucker land on the mountain? ..impressive

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Hang with Gay……you can still get him some competition….for less. Someone will sign Gostkowski……I’m sure he’s not interested in competing for a job.

Yes….Gay blew at least 1 game…..maybe 2……but he was kicking well before that last game….I think he will work out his problems….

  6. Robert Says:

gtfo ………..kickers have more pressure in one instance than any position on the field and therefore need confidence. that comes from leading and no load on their back. Gay will be fine after he kicks 100 extra point this year.

  7. JGhotier Says:

If Brady can’t have a Gronkowski on his team, than he’s gonna want the next closest thing…a Gostkowski!

  8. Colonel_mp Says:

I have confidence Gay will be better in Year 2. Definitely will be some competition in camp. That big leg is a HUGE weapon. I see a 70 yard field goal for a win in his future. Hope it comes in a BUCS uniform.

  9. JGhotier Says:

Matt Gay didn’t miss often throughout the season, but the few games when he did, he did big time.

He was 27-32 going into the last game of the season. That’s pretty decent. His percentage From 40 and 50+ didn’t suck either. Then…

The week 17 Falcons game happened

  10. Hethrew 30 Says:

Yes, bring Gost on. But Gay WAS halfway decent…he did have two rotten games. He’s got to make more of those kicks or he will be gone.

But it is idiotic to suggest still, even a little bit, that somehow Winston would be here if Gay made two kicks. That would true if a decision maker thinks idiotically like that and would keep Winston. Any level-headed person can separate the circumstances behind each player and the overall impact. Winston failed too often, too badly, for a guy in his fifth year looking to get paid and needing to perform, who had not improved from his rookie season. Gay was in his rookie season, and if he keeps this up, he will gone too. And if there is a better kicker now, then bring him on.

One of the dumbest recycled idea here on these pages.

  11. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I get real nervous, when I see Gay kick.

  12. rrsrq Says:

Dang, how long was that kick in the higher elevated mountain air

  13. 813bucboi Says:

competition brings out the best in everyone….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  14. Buddy Says:

What is that? Like a 30 yard kick? Who cares

  15. Buc4evr Says:

Agree Joe, kicker is our weakest position and kickers have cost us so many games. Gay basically added fuel to the fire in getting rid of Jameis. What if he even made one FG in the Atlanta game? If we want to win next year we need a reliable kicker not named Matt Gay. I’m all in for bringing Gostkowski and anyone else that can make extra point and FGs consistently. Matt Gay needs to be gone next season.

  16. stpetebucsfan Says:

In all honesty I get nervous no matter WHO is kicking. Could be the result of “battered kicker” syndrome we Buc fans understandably suffer from.

But even if it’s one of my secondary teams, Green Bay and the Bungles…I get very, very nervous if it comes down to the kicker instead of Rodgers.

Didn’t the Minnesota kicker blow a chip shot in the playoffs a few years back and perhaps that was in Teddy Bridgewater’s healthy year.

Agree that a little competition wouldn’t harm Gay but that’s perhaps true for all players…would “blameless” have been better last year from some real competition in August?

Here’s the plan…fortify the trenches…sign Suh…get a monster RT and then the RB of choice. For me it’s Dillon because his game complements ROJO and fills a gaping need for a POWER back at the goal line. Of course we have Vea but nobody wants to use him like that.

Still imagine a backfield on short yardage that had Vea and Dillon in the same elephant backfield. D’s would have to pick their poison and Brady would quickly figure out their choice and exploit…with two talented TE’s and two WR’s who play like power forwards when the ball goes up for grabs.

So yeah..bring in some kicking competition but let’s make the team so much better that we don’t desperately depend on whoever does our kickng.

EG…I’m tired of hearing how Gay’s missed kicks cost us Atlanta when JW clearly CHOKED in OT…but it’s actually worse.

In two games that made the difference between winning and losing…at home…very winnable..in the four quarters of those two second halves the ONLY person to score was Gay ONCE. THREE FREAKING points in two second halves of critical games that made us LOSERS once again.

5,000 yards…30TDs…are FREAKING MEANINGLESS when your QB is shut out in the second half of two consecutive games. That’s what got JW run as much as the choking in OT. “Blameless” is simply not clutch…a nicer way of saying he CHOKES!!!

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I’m beginning to think that Joe likes pretty much all FAs……I’m counting the suggestions…..they now stand at 6,347……

  18. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Have you guys seen the latest practice with Matt Gay kicking. His legs are powerful. See video here: https://twitter.com/i/status/1242192003376373761

  19. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Gay had a bad December, beforehand he was doing pretty good.

  20. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Bring in competition. That’s always a good thing.

But keep in mind it was Gay’s rookie year, and how he responds in his second year will determine whether we should keep him. I believe in the kid.

  21. LongSeason Says:

The questions about Gay need to be answered. Was poor long snaps, poor holds, off timing or bad approach on the kick? If the issue is fixable that woud be great. Either way, Gostkowski would be a win if we signed him. Competition is good.

  22. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Although, I am a little curious about the kicker built like a linebacker in this draft.

  23. OBP Says:

Pass dude. Gostkowski is coming off of a serious hip injury and is 36, I’ll take the 25 year old kicker we have developing thank you very much.

  24. Ndog Says:

Stop it, just stop it, we all know this team was perfect outside of the QB last year so nothing else needs to be done. Leave everything else alone as again this team WAS PERFECT outside of the QB. We have been told time and time again if we had a different QB we would have been World Champs BABY!!!!!!!!! So now we have a new QB we should be all good nothing else needed.

  25. Youngbucs Says:

If that’s the case we should put gay in the ring of honor. Just for ridding us of Winston bravo 👏

  26. Tampabuscsbro Says:

Imo he only cost us one game that was close even then we can point the finger at the whole team for blowing a 18 point lead the offense for stalling, winstons turnovers that alleged defense getting torched by daniel jones and sub par weapons. also the falcons game we had the ball in OT and we know what our former QB loves to do.

  27. Tampabuscsbro Says:

LOL NDOG still cannot take his man crush Winston being gone.

  28. Pick6King Says:

Please stop with the superlatives about the failed number 1 overall pick in 2015. It really makes you look very dumb. He’s less popular than the coronavirus.

And the Redskins chose to trade for a backup quarterback to compete with Haskins. They could have signed the free agent QB Jamoist Winston, America’s anal wart. But they actually realize that turnovers lose games.

The endless whining about the demise of your boy won’t bring him back. Let’s move on and talk about the post Jamoist era. An era of winning and competing for titles. The era of meaningless stats is over.

    #TomTerrific #JamoistSucks

  29. jmarkbuc Says:

A second XFL QB signed by the Chiefs…

Guess the “clueless” don’t just reside here at JoeBucsFan…..Huh Ndog?

  30. SkBucsFan Says:

Don’t worry all. Licht has a kicker in mind this draft. If he isn’t gone by the time pick 14 comes around then he’s all ours!

  31. WestChap Says:

I’ve decided kickers are inscrutable riddles… good Lord we have tried to find a reliable one. Almost enough to make me believe Matt Bryant practices voodoo.

Hit his tripod as a matter of fact………

  33. Ndog Says:

Guys this team is perfect in every way now that we have a new QB. You all have told us us over and over and over again so you should be happy with our team as a whole now. No changes baby as the only problem we had is gone.

  34. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

Gay’s gags in the Giant game changed the trajectory/complexion of the entire season. He certainly has a big leg…no doubt about it. Probably too late to put him on the practice squad given eligibility rules. Bringing in Gostkowski to give Brady some familiarity and confidence isn’t the worst idea I’ve heard.

  35. JP09 Says:

Everyone should be thanking Gay for missing kicks against the Giants and Falcons. It should when his teammates struggled Winston was unable to rise (yes, the Giants game was on Gay) as a “franchise QB” should. Winston is still unsigned that in itself should be a sign to everyone on here what the rest of the NFL thinks of him

  36. Ndog Says:

In fact I’m pissed, why have they not already resigned Dotson to start and Barber to tote the rock? Heck they should have brought back Hargreaves as well cause if he had real leadership, like he’s going to get now from Brady, them he would probably be great too!

  37. JP09 Says:

    Oh god, NDOG is pissed……

  38. JP09 Says:

NDOGs “Franchise QB” still hasn’t been signed by 31 other teams. THE REDSKINS JUST TRADED FOR CAROLINA’S BACK UP instead of signing Winston lol dude get over it

  39. Ndog Says:

In addition how could they let Beau Allen go??????
This team was 100% complete now that we have a new QB what are they thinking letting anyone but the dreck of a QB leave?

  40. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Ndog,

Did JayMiss finally tell you that your “services” were no longer needed?

If so, I think Rod Munch has a big opening.

Agreed & very well put. I suffered that often, honestly, when Jameis dropped back to pass, too. Even though I am a JW fan… I mean, you can’t help but be a little shell-shocked after awhile. – “battered interception” syndrome –

  43. Danny Says:

Not sure this is the best use of salary cap room. Remember Gay was only a rookie

  44. SC Bucs Fan Says:

NDog you are nothing but a crybaby. I feel for you. Yesterday someone called you out for your support of JW and you said the thread wasn’t even about quarterbacks. This thread isn’t about quarterbacks yet you bring one up but that’s OK? Hypocrite.

You bring in a kicker, one that kicks best in preseason is our kicker. Anyone with a better idea?

  45. Bucsfan951 Says:

Everyone, let the PUPPY go and let him speak. I am seriously laughing over here at his comments. He has really lost it and I love watching a train wreck!

Keep going NPUPPY, you’re getting me through having to work from home.

LOST PUPPY. LAST SEEN CHASING A BLACK MERCEDES WITH THE LICENSE PLATE THAT READS “NOTSGND”. IF SEEN, JUST LET HER GO. SHES DANGEROUS!

  46. Defense Rules Says:

It seems obvious that the Pats released Gostkowski because of MONEY. Patriots only have $7 mil of Cap space right now, AFTER releasing Gostkowski (who BTW is costing them $1.5 mil in dead Cap in 2020 and ended up on IR last season with a hip problem). Oh and know who their kicker was after Gostkowski went on IR? Some K named Nick Folk. Hmmm. Remember him Joe?

Patriots will probably be hurting this year, even though their defense should do vey well again. Their 2020 dead Cap is $23.9 mil & they don’t have much rollover Cap ($5.9 mil). Losing Brady will cost them $13.5 mil in dead Cap, and I’m still laughing about Antonio Brown costing them $4.5 mil in 2020 dead Cap (that was a REALLY bad idea on their part).

Good lesson in there though for the Bucs .. avoid taking dead Cap at all costs. But that’s what happens when teams keep restructuring contracts and kicking the can down the street in anticipation of a WIN NOW year. It can really bite you in the arse tomorrow.

Bucs BTW are in reasonably good shape, as long as we don’t do something really stupid. Spotrac estimates Bucs to have $24.7 mil in salary Cap space today with 61 players now under contract (Over-the-Cap estimates $23.9 mil with Nunez-Roches counted in). Spotrac is now estimating that our draft pool will cost $7.3 mil (Over-the-Cap estimates $7.8 mil), and we’ve only got $88K in dead money.

Looks to me like we’ve got room to add Suh (say $9 mil), Ryan Smith (say $1 mil), Barber (say $1 mil), a backup QB (say 4 mil), a starting Safety (say $4 mil), a backup OLineman (say $3 mil) and the rookie pool (say $8 mil). That’d be $30 mil but that’d work because signing those 11 or 12 players would displace 11 or 12 currently near the bottom of our existing Top-51 used to compute the Cap. IOW, those 11 displaced would save us $7-$8 mil and we’ve got almost $25 to start with, so it’s doable (with even $3 mil or so left over for injuries). The only point being that as long as we don’t do something stupid, we can build a strong roster for this year.

  47. Ndog Says:

Guys let’s rejoice we finally have the perfect team, no need to make changes, Matt Gay was awesome last year. He made every kick that mattered and that’s all we want as he should not be responsible for missed kicks when the stupid QB missed a pass on the second play of the game cause we know that’s all that matters.

  48. Defense Rules Says:

BTW Joe, if you interview Matt Gay anytime soon, tell him that ‘MG Tweety Monster’ for his Twitter handle is just wrong on so many counts.

  49. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

Ndog, can you let some of the sarcasm go? Let’s move forward, man.

  50. D-Rome Says:

Ndog, can you let some of the sarcasm go? Let’s move forward, man.

I’m almost convinced Ndog is Jameis1of1. You should do what I have done with both of them. Ignore as if they don’t exist.

  51. Swampbuc Says:

He should try kicking with a set of goal posts there. Hell we should chip in for a set for him, poor kickers don’t make any money.

    (sarcasm)

  52. DBS Says:

Ndog is going to bi!tch all year long. Get use to it. Everyone should have known it was coming.

  53. Not a blind bucs fan Says:

I look at the comments on here as a microcosm of the attitudes of this fan base. The move to Brady better pay off because we will now be drafting a QB to replace him.And for those that hated winston maybe your angry is something else .The bucs have historically made bold win now moves, that set back the franchise.Dungy gone ,chucky in = Superbowl.Lack of 1st rounders traded for chucky = losing again..I hope this isn’t another one.Season ticket holder by the way

  54. stpetebucsfan Says:

    D.R.

Thanks as always for your excellent cap tracking for us. My mom was a bookkeeper who loved to find even a lost penny…an owners dream.

I unfortunately got none of that…like math but not simple arithmetic and so I feel lucky that we have guys like you and other here to do the “dirty” work for us.

A question….rookie pool is estimated at 8 million. If I’m not mistaken don’t we need to take into consideration where we draft?

IE won’t teams with top five picks automatically have to budget more than lower picking teams because of how the market gets set?

And the followup…if we trade down for multiple picks would we save or lose money…lower spot…lower salary…but more salaries.

IE could trading down because of multiple picks cost us cap space or at least enough to consider?

  55. Kansas95Buc Says:

oh now we want to hold kickers accountable, man the leadership on this team is a joke. this is problem, like the run game, that should’ve been addressed years ago

  56. Bucs Guy Says:

Bring in the XFL kicker out of Dallas to camp. Didn’t miss a kick including a couple over 50.

  57. Ndog Says:

Guys no sarcasm here this is what I have been hearing all year long why should it change now?

    Remember these:
Our defense was top 5 to end the year
    Kickers don’t lose games
How can our oline be bad if we threw for 5,000 yards

This is a complete team folks, you been saying it all year long why change your tune now. This year is Superbowl championship or bust as we have solved the one and only problem we had. Get excited everyone this is our year as we have the best most complete roster in the NFL.

  58. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

Ndog, all I meant by “sarcasm” is that I don’t think there were too many Bucs fans who think this team was “perfect”, in spite of the QB play. I frikkin enjoyed the hell out of watching JW sling it all over the field. I just feel like the turnovers were finally too much to overcome. But no we were certainly not perfect, and still need to make this team as good as we possibly can.

  59. Bucsfanman Says:

Ugh, the droning on and on…give it a rest.
EVERY position on this football team can be improved. Competition for the kicker is no exception.

  60. unbelievable Says:

If you dig into his performance, it was really just 2 games. But those 2 games were atrocious!

I don’t mind some competition, but I also don’t think Gay is nearly as bad as our last several kickers.

The real issue is we never should have dumped Matt Bryant. Dude was fkn solid AND had multiple records for long distance kicks.

  61. Cobraboy Says:

Signing a kicker with a hip problem is not the best of ideas, even if it is Gostkowski.

I’m OK going with Gay in his year 2. I suspect his mind is wrapped around rookie issues.

And NDog, bless your heart. You are right: Gay made every kick that mattered except those he missed that cost games.

  62. PUGS&BUCS Says:

“One could honestly ask if Gay was just halfway decent, would Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, still be with the Bucs? Gay easily cost the Bucs two wins.”

No doubt. And let’s take back three interceptions thanks to “Hands of Stone” OJ Howard. Now you’re at 9-10 wins, 5100 yards with 30+ TDs.

  63. Kansas95Buc Says:

Apparently Ndog didn’t get the memo, the QB was the source of all our issues but now we have the GOAT so all of our issues are fixed. Jeez man learn to be happy

  64. Defense Rules Says:

@StPete … “rookie pool is estimated at 8 million. If I’m not mistaken don’t we need to take into consideration where we draft?”

The pool numbers that I gave do take into consideration where we draft StPete (ie, #14, #45, #76, #117, #139, #161 & #194). Over-the-Cap has the cost of our draft pool at $7,820,778 for our 7 picks, while Spotrac has it at $7,326,117 (no idea why the difference). It was interesting looking at the Pats because they have a lot more comp picks than we do (don’t they always?), and thus their draft pool would cost a lot more IF they kept everyone (unlikely). Over-the-Cap had them at $10,106,668 for their 12 draft picks, while Spotrac had them at $9,038,977.

Cobraboy … I agree with you and Unbelievable that Matt Gay will be fine. He was 27 of 35 on FGs (thus the 77.1%), but if you take away that last game where he was 0-for-3 he was 27 of 32 for the first 15 games which is 84.4%, quite good for a rookie especially. And in that Giants game where he missed the closer, he had gone 4-for-4 on FG attempts prior to that to keep us even in the game (including a 47-yarder & a 52-yarder). People conveniently forget the good stuff though when something bad happens.

  65. Rod Munch Says:

People should learn something from Matt Bryant… He made a 59 yarder at the age 41, then a 57 yarder at ages 42 and 43.

Good kickers don’t suddenly forget how to kick, and most can kick into their 40s. Gostkowski only just turned 36.

Meanwhile Gay cost us 2 games last year, and has never in his life made a game winning FG at any level (that’s according to him coming out of college).

While I think Gay is going to be just fine, I’m bringing in Gostkowski – who can kick for at least 5 more years. It’s not like Gostkowski is one and done.

Also, Roberto never missed a kick that mattered with the team. Gay can not make that claim.

  66. Rod Munch Says:

Defense – While I also think Gay will be just fine, I’m not OK with the free pass he gets. Not only did he lose the two games, he also missed a long kick in the Houston game – a game that we lost by 3 points. If you’re not going to make the short kicks, and you can’t make long kicks, then what’s the point?

He should be held accountable for what he did, he literally cost Jameis his job. If the team is 9-7 and ends the season with a win, then Winston is still the QB. I’m excited to see what Brady can do, but I can’t stand the people pinning loses on Winston like the rest of the team played no role in it. It’s fake news.

BUT, even with that said — good kickers often have so-so first years. Look at Gostkowski first year, he hit 76.9% of his kicks, slightly worse than Gay. Most great kickers will then have a solid year two, and be pro-bowl level kicker by year 3. Is Gay that guy? I actually think he is — but that’s a guess. We already know what Gostkowski is, and that’s why you sign him.

We’re already mortgaging our future in dumping Winston, so who cares about not having a kicker 5 years from now?

  67. DBS Says:

We lost the Houston game by 3 points. Who gave them 6 points with a pick 6???

  68. Rod Munch Says:

DBS – Don’t get your panties in a knot, I wasn’t blaming Gay for the loss, just bringing up that was another kick he didn’t make.

BUT, I do have a correction on that play, apparently I’m remembering it wrong. That Houston kick was blocked? That’s what the play by play says, I just remember him missing it. Does anyone remember the kick – was it an actual block or Gay just kicking it too low? Again – it was a 54-yarder, so you don’t expect to make those, but missing 4 FGs in the final 2 games of the year, a 3pt loss and an OT loss, that’s an issue.

  69. sincethebeginning Says:

My personal opinion is that Gay hit the rookie wall, mentally and physically. His percentage trended worse as the season wore on. He needs to prove this year that he can keep his $h!t together from beginning to end of the season. His conditioning must improve, of course, both physically as well as mentally.

He undoubtedly needs competition, but I wonder if Gostkowski will costkowski too much. He’s rehabbing, slightly damaged goods, but he’s still an apex kicker in the league at the moment.

Bring in a legit competitor at PK though. I’m all for it — within financial reason.

  70. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

Seriously joe if Gay made those kicks we would have probably made the playoffs last year as well as keep Jameis this season :’(

  71. Defense Rules Says:

Rod … Doesn’t matter whether it was blocked or not IMO. Bucs … as in TEAM … lost the game, THAT’s all that counts. Individual players contribute to losses (and wins of course), but I still can’t remember a single game in NFL history where one can say ‘So & so lost that game all by himself’.

People usually remember the LAST play (or thereabouts) though and forget that there were normally 130-150 OTHERS, on offense AND defense, that affected the outcome one way or another. Some positively, some negatively. But I guess it’s human nature to want to make a scapegoat out of the LAST guy to screw up.

  72. FortMyersDave Says:

Gay cost the Bucs the Giant and ATL game and he did jake a 50 yarder in that OT loss so there is no sugar coating that. His training camp buddy, Cairo Santos was shown the door in Titanland when he went 0 dash 4 in a very close loss to the Bills last season. If Gay pulled his 0 for 4 that early in the season I wonder if BA might have pushed the eject button on Gay and made him an example of “accountability” even before VH3……. That being said Gay in 2019 will be remembered for the epic 32 yard Giant shank and the man who got Jameis run for better or worse……

  73. FortMyersDave Says:

…. that 50 yard jake in OT to Seattle… is what I meant…. So Gay may not have lost that game but he sure as heck did not win it.

  74. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

Of course that’s how you remember it!! Lmao!! … Not Winston short throwing the bomb to A WIDE OPEN Mike Evans against the Giants who would have scored the game winning touchdown had Winston thrown a better ball!! No, it’s the kickers fault Winston sucks!! Ya know a lot of those kicks wouldn’t have been needed had Winston not thrown points away the play before!!! Some of those kicks he didn’t make were after Winston had already thrown 3 picks… That makes a huge difference in what was needed to win!! So you can’t really say him missing the kick cost the game!!
