Ryan Jensen Registers Vote

February 13th, 2020

Lobbies for uniform style.

At least one Bucs player has made his feelings known.

The Bucs suggested in a cryptic video this week that there may be changes on the way to their uniforms this season.

Joe has to write “maybe” because the Bucs won’t say.

But if the uniforms do change, Bucs starting center Ryan Jensen made it clear where he stands.

Jensen took to Twitter yesterday and wants the Bucs to bring back the Creamsicles.

Joe would freaking love for the Bucs to go back to the Creamsicles but honestly, if they went back to the classic reds, that’s fine as well.

This is what frustrates Joe so much. This decision to get rid of the alarm clock fonts would take about 10 seconds.

Go back to the creamsicles which were always fresh. Go back to the classics that just oozed class.

Either one is fine. Flip a coin, you cannot lose.

Be honest: How many like Joe became Bucs fans, in part, because of those beautiful creamsicles glowing in the Florida sun?

  1. I Bleed Pewter Says:

Not me ..I became a fan because I live here. I remember a time when everyone hated the creamsicles. Funny how much things change still remains the same. If we continue another futile decade of losing it’s almost guaranteed folks will hate these new uniforms then too.

  2. Bruce Blahak Says:

Should never have dropped the orange as main colour. It’s unique to the league. Lots of red jersey teams in the league and too close to falcons

  3. Freebooter Says:

    Always loved the creamsicles

  4. Larry Says:

Hmm a lot of my old colors back in fashion? I’d love it! How about a poll, Joe?

  5. Ineffable Dullard Repairman Says:

    Agree with I Bleed Pewter.

Those uniforms were uniformly loathed back then. And Bucco Bruce was mocked by homophobes that feared for his sexuality. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but the new logo is far superior.

“If you forget the past you’re doomed to repeat it.”

Bring em’ back and the same will happen. Change the helmet rule and put them into play for a throwback week or two. Agree we still need a change, but creamsicle? No!
    A combination thereof? Possibly.

  6. 1Gr8Buc Says:

I dont get the infatuation with the orange jerseys. We were the worst team in the league the entire time we wore those things with the exception of 1 maybe 2 years. “Return to glory” doesnt make me think of 0-26 haha.

Give us an updated version of the late 90s-00s jersey and I promise the majority of this fan base will be happy with that.

  7. Bird Says:

    Both were better then current

However , the new “Terminator style” skull has grown on me
So if its the reds then keep the helmet
    Go bucs!

Ready for free agency and draft
A few pieces away from being relevant again

  8. Hodad Says:

I hated the losing, not the uniforms. The orange with more red, and the flag logo would be great. It wasn’t the colors as much as the winking pirate that needed to change.

  9. Bobbo Says:

Just make the helmet comparable with a throwback game

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Love the logo……don’t like the font…..change the font and keep the colors is ok by me.

  11. ChanEpic Says:

It is so funny. I remember a time when the creamsicles were HATED in the Bay area. HATED. Time, and terrible uniform replacements, heals all wounds.

  12. NashvilleBuc Says:

Ditch the font. Keep the logos. Go back to something like the red/pewter. It was fearsome. More pewter maybe. Definitely get rid of the orange slice and change the Nike logo to anything but orange.
As a kid, growing up a bucs fan was humiliating. Even when we stopped losing my friends outside of Tampa made fun of the creamsicle and Bucco Bruce.. Let Miami keep the tropical colors.

  13. Dare's Mama Says:

the way we lose these days we might as well be wearing those stupid orange uniforms….the “creamsicle” uniforms were synonymous with losing…

  14. 813bucboi Says:

i too remember when the creamsicles were hated….lol….

i honestly dont mind the current uni’s….lol…

they look great when we win….lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  15. Sharthappens Says:

    Slow news cycle Joe???

  16. Buc believer Says:

Yes let’s go back to the Culverhouse/Lehman Bennet/Richard Williamson/Ray Perkins/ Sam Wyche days. Except for the last decade plus those were the darkest days as Buc fans. GREAT IDEA! SMDH!!!

  17. Buc believer Says:

Guess I’m on perpetual moderation now 😁

  18. Pok Says:

Agree. The creamsicle wasn’t great, neither was the pompadour feather nor the team getting crushed all the time. Many times the best thing to watch at the big sombrero was the fights in the stands. Not to mention no one ever heard of creamsicle the pirate. Traditional pirate colors were red black and white. Pewter worked and was unique. The first version of pewter and red was great- everyone loved it. Even the font screamed gasparilla. The updated version with the very pirate-y alarm clock numbers and the rest of the mess needs to go.

  19. DBS Says:

Did not like the creamsicle then and don’t want them now. Please go back to the classic red of the Super Bowl era.

  20. CrackerBall Says:

I don’t understand the vitriol for the orange uniforms – people try to associate the struggling years with the Creamsickle unis, but clothing never lost a game in their lives. I was the poor teams wearing the unis that lost all those games.

The orange, red and white are very distinctive – unique around the league, and no other team wears anything remotely like it. No single says “Florida” more than orange. Give them a modern twist using the classic Bucs colors and we can throw this losing nonsense off the Sunshine Skyway.

  21. Fb Says:

I hate to say it, but getting rid of the cream sickle helped make me a bucs fan. Having it on these versions is part of what I hate. If they went back I probably wouldn’t watch.

  22. BigHog Says:

Yes bring them back …had a #12 cream colored jersey…didn’t want the $24 or the $50 ones I saw everyone with ….so I saved and went to a mall in Tampa or Orlando and got me a GAME DAY, can’t tell you where it is today but I do have a GAME DAY #55 red jersey setting in the closet now… if they bring back the cream, no doubt I will get a Mr. 5,000!!!

  23. SKBucsFan Says:

I became a Canadian Bucs fan when i was a kid because of the Orange unis. In hindsight it may have been the most painful decision of my life. I would love to see Orange and Pewter be the predominant colors again.

  24. adam from ny Says:

orange and pewter with red accenting would be the move…

    with pewter color rush…

and the occasional all orange color rush…

    bring back the orange…

    bring back the pewter…

we have these two colors on lock…now own them…

    #PewterAndOrange

  25. Cannuckbuc Says:

I have bought a new jersey every change along the way, except for the last one, just cant bring myself to dish that kind of money for that digital clock lol. Still my absolute favorite to wear is my Doug Williams cream sickle best jersey ever!

  26. adam from ny Says:

maybe we can start wearing real football pants again too…these ballerina tights they make the players wear these days are just sooooooo…

    as captain spaulding might say….

    tutti frutti…

    all hail captain spaulding…

    #SidHaigRestInPeace

  27. adam from ny Says:

i’m actually shocked…after thinking about these current gunky unis…

i’ve never actually bought any merchandise since 2014 with this current clockwork uni design…

just couldn’t make the purchase…they were that obtuse…

and i have a nice collection of bucs jersey going way back…

  28. ManzielMadness Says:

I liked our old red and pewter jerseys. Didn’t need to be changed.

  29. martinii Says:

Red and Pewter, just like they wore in the Super Bowl. Back when it was great to be a Buc. A lot of our problems started when we began messing with our uniforms.

  30. Tc Says:

Please, no orange uniforms. Too many bad memories if you watched them back then

  31. Jerry Says:

I don’t think they can go back to orange. The NFL won’t allow it even for a week anymore.

  32. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Big Hog

I notice all of the players’ jerseys you have are all black players.
Why don’t you have any white player’s jerseys?

I see it, so I had to say it.

    You seem very racist.

  33. Ali Says:

No creamsicle go red black and pewter with flaming skullslike ghostrider

  34. Brandon Says:

I became a fan back in 83 watching the 0-5 Bucs take on the 5-0 Cowboys. We lost in OT and despite pretty much kicking the Cowboy’s asses but were undone by 214 yards worth of penalties. Maybe it was something about those unis, maybe it was that aggressive, tenacious defense or maybe that stud on the other side of the ball, James Wilder… but I instantly fell in love despite living in DC and being a Redskins fan at the time, forgive me but I was in elementary school.

Whatever the reason, the Bandits soon became my favorite USFL team and that helped cement my love for Tampa and the Bucs. It would not upset me a bit to see the creamsicles make a comeback or maybe a creamsicle/red and pewter mix up. If they go creamsicle, then this would be the ideal time for the long overdue process of getting James Wilder in the ring of honor. His 1984 season is one of the all-time greatest ever. he had 407 carries (a record for 15 years) and 85 catches and amassed a still record 492 total touches for well over 2000 combined yards. The dude was a stud and still my favorite Buc. Bring on the creamsicles or retro hybrid unis… whatever, just get rid of the current ones.

  35. DoooshLaRue Says:

Orange and pewter, with some red would be nice.

  36. Kevin Says:

I don’t know if I stumbled upon something that I shouldn’t have, but it appears that the Buccaneers have posted a slideshow of their new uniforms. I googled “Tampa Bay Buccaneers new uniforms 2020” and one of the results was from the team’s official website.

  37. Gp Says:

I remember stopping at Hooters on the way home from games just to see something that looks good in orange and white.
Go ahead, give me more reasons to go to Hooters!

  38. Joe Says:

You are a very wise soul, eeerr, owl. 🙂

  39. Buczilla Says:

As long as the winking guy on the helmet doesn’t come back, I’m cool with either co!or.

  40. Anonymous for this post only Says:

The link works on my desktop but not on my phone. It’s a return to the classic, classy red uniforms. There’s one twist. Remember when they’d wear the red jerseys with white pants? That’s what they look like. The only pewter is the helmet which appears unchanged. Only the home look is set up so far. I think *everyone* will be pleased !!!!

I’ll understand completely if this is not posted

  41. Wesley Says:

Those were historically bad years, no thanks.

  42. Bucs4821 Says:

I love the orange because I started following the Bucs in the 1979 preseason. To me, those uniforms are associated with 5-0, the Dewey Selmon Sports Illustrated cover, ‘worst to first’, winning the 1981 division (after starting 5-6) in the Showdown at the Silverdome and the 1982 team that started 0-3, 1-4 then won 4 consecutive games (coming from behind in each game if I remember correctly) to make the playoffs in that bizarre strike shortened season. Those uniforms mean Lee Roy Selmon, Doug Williams, Jimmy Giles, Ricky Bell, James Wilder, David Logan, Batman Wood, Kevin House, Hugh Green, Mark Cotney, etc.

  43. LongSeason Says:

Ryan Jensen is now a Buc for life. I knew I liked him. In 1976, the orange and white is what drew me to the Bucs. I loved the Creamsicles dreamsicles.
We can hope and pray that they will go with either the Creamsicles or the classic Pewter Pirates look.

  44. Matt B Says:

I became a fan at 9 years old in the early part of the 1979 season growing up in California when I first saw the creamsicles. Now I live in Tampa in no small part because of my love for the Bucs. Still wish to this day we had won the Super Bowl in January 2003 in the orange & white with red trim.

  45. Mister Negative Nancy Says:

Creamsicles would be great. Just have to ditch Bucco Bruce the winking androgenous pirate.

  46. LongSeason Says:

Mister Negative Nancy – We can get rid of Errol Flynn Bucco Bruce and replace him on helmets with Bucco ‘Bock Choy’ Bruce Arians with his cap. Angle instead of straight on. ;p

  47. Bucs4821 Says:

    @Matt B

I thought the same thing after the Super Bowl win! The only way it would’ve been better would’ve been to be wearing orange and having Mark Champion call the game! Mark Champion, to me, will *always* be the voice of the Bucs!
