“I Don’t Think You Can Have Multiple Seasons Doing Stuff Like That And Stay In The League”

February 6th, 2020

Teammate speaks out

How frustrated were Bucs players with Jameis Winston giving the ball to opponents like he was passing out mini-Snickers on Halloween?

If you listened to Shaq Barrett with SiriusXM NFL Radio hosts Bruce Murray and Brady Quinn, you’d think they were very frustrated.

Barrett reiterated that America’s Quarterback is “a great leader” and immensely talented. But man, multiple times Shaq admitted Jameis’ turnovers are frustrating and it was felt in games.

The Bucs’ sacks legend even added that Jameis needs a bounceback 2020 or he might be out of football.

“Like he know he got to get better at that. He’s going to get better at that; that’s the only way he’s going to stay in the league,” Barrett said. “Because I don’t think you can have multiple seasons doing stuff like that and stay in the league. So he gotta like get better. He knows there’s pressure on himself to get better.”

If you buy into Shaq’s logic, it’s quite unique to think about re-signing a player for top dollar who just had a season that, if repeated, would get him run from the NFL.

Welcome to Tampa.

  1. LaMarcus Says:

Oh so now Barrett getting a little success and now he can judge who plays in the NFL?

Barrett foh you went from 15 sacks in 5 years and a bench warmer and now your like making Executive decisions because you made a pro bowl. Great. Question should be if the Bucs should pay you

    Welcome to Tampa

  2. DoooshLaRue Says:

That’s the pic that sums up who JayMiss is.
    Ha ha ha!

  3. DoooshLaRue Says:

    The essence of ignorance.

  4. stravenite Says:

True feedback from the players who have to mop up after JW throws yet another interception !

Don’t sign him for top dollar – get rid !

  5. 813bucboi Says:

    shaq is right…..

and as candid as shaq has been lately, he must know he’s getting a long term deal and he’s just waiting to sign it….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  6. Defense Rules Says:

Shaq is a breath of fresh air when it comes to honesty answering questions about his EX-teammates (he is a FREE AGENT after all). But I personally don’t view it as him being critical of Jameis overall (after all, he did call him a ‘great leader’), just of Jameis’ propensity to play Santa Claus at the most inopportune times.

It’s to be expected that our defense would be frustrated with our offensive performances in many of our games last season. This defense took the ball away 28 times on the season … almost 2 takeaways per game … and contributed SIX TDs on the season. Yet they had to clean up the mess as our offense gave the ball away a ludicrous 41 times. Would anyone expect them to be cheering on the sideline?

  7. Waterboy Says:

    He’s right.

  8. MadMax Says:

  9. TOM EDRINGTON Says:

Many, many years ago, Hank Stram once told me:

“Tommy, you can’t let the inmates run the asylum….”

  10. Jerry Says:

After every INT the cameras would pan over Evans and Godwins face running back to the sidelines and you could see the “oh man again” face…I love the candid quote and excited to see how this offseason plays out!

  11. MTM Says:

Shaq is right as much as Winston jock sniffers don’t want to hear it.

  12. SteveK Says:

    Bingo!

Helluva point, Joe! Only the Bucs.

    well said………………..

  14. thisisouryear!! Says:

It is nice to hear reality from a player, but if Winston does come back this could cause contention between Winston and Shaq. According to Winston he was balling!!! How could he be put out of the league.

  15. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Shaq speaks the truth quite a few players are fed up with it

He’s just secure enough to say it on the record

  16. Troy Says:

Funny how the best defensive sacker we’ve had in HISTORY can’t have an opinion on Winston according to the apologists. A little truth about the toll the human turnover machine had on the team and now the Winston supporters are hurt. It just goes to show you that they don’t care that he can’t play in this league. They want Winston because they’re fans of Winston, not the Bucs. They’d rather see this team struggle for the next decade with Winston as the QB, than move on from him and make the playoffs.

  17. SteveK Says:

    Preach Troy!

    Team before player.

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Absolutely correct, Shaq…….and it’s refreshing to hear a player unafraid to speak his mind.

  19. Dewey Selmon Says:

Jameis will take more sacks next year than he ever had, by the time Sept rolls around Winston will be so gun shy that he will rather take a sack than get rid of the ball.

  20. Sleepy903 Says:

Which is why he is still in the league. “He doesnt throw 30 INT’s every year.”

  21. martinii Says:

Agree with Shaq, ya don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that you’re not going to be playing in the NFL if you have back to back losing seasons with that many INT’s. On another matter I think it is important to let your FA’s know what you plan to do about the problem ASAP.

  22. BigHog Says:

If there is a guy on that defensive line that you don’t sign back it’s SHAQ…he talks to damn much, and it’s just as damaging as a pick-6 …new nickname is SHAQ A LOT meaning talks to damn much…won’t even come close to this years production next season …yes I said it , never ever ever ever turn on the leader of the pack! Dummy!!

  23. chris L Says:

Why the “Welcome to tampa” sarcasm? any team in any league would not put up with multiple seasons of this and 30 picks again. because the previous 4 years werent that much better. i dont think he will throw for 30 picks again (let’s hope) but no city would put up with it like we have.

Joe you famously use the word “hope” in that we hope our running backs do well. Do we need to use the same word for hope that we hope jameis can cut back on the interceptions. i think he will but doesnt the same logic apply. why is this different than your running back comparison? i am legitimately interested.

  24. Mr. Reality Says:

Not just the fact they are frustrated…Winston is the team captain, about the highest paid player, and NOT performing to acceptable levels. Given Winston undoes much of what the D and his O and ST had work to give him, by throwing a pick in a single split second….YEAH they are frustrated. Now, sure, Winston has made many plays. BUT those aren’t enough to overcome the bad. Hence the record, hence the dilemma.

Yeah, the idiot who wrote earlier about Winston and MVP numbers failed ot mention the numbers that get a guy tossed from football at any level.

  25. D-Rome Says:

    Joe,

Do you think it’s possible that Shaq Barrett may be saying certain things publicly about Jameis so that *he* can avoid being franchised and get the long term deal instead?

Someone is getting franchised out of those two.

Yea let’s keep him so the bucs can be talked about more. They will be talking about his new club the 30 / 40 club. That’s right we keep Winston I bet he throws 40 picks next year as his int numbers keeping trending up
    ———————————————————
Where you at? Let’s exchange info. I’ll take that bet all day.

  27. thisisouryear!! Says:

There is no way he is worth the money of the tag. He’s not going to make 12 million on the open market. Why on earth should we pay double? Spend the money on the holes in this team and watch us win it all next year.

  28. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

“I don’t think you can have multiple seasons doing stuff like that and stay in the league.”….Uhhhhh, he’s had ALL FIVE SEASONS doing stuff like that….so clock has run out!!!

  29. WillieG Says:

That closed minded bastard! Doesn’t he realize Winston threw for 5,000 yards?!

    Joe

  30. 99.97.92.55.47.40.28.20.7 Says:

This is just bizarre. Calling out a teammate like that, both in contract years? Bizarre.

  31. WestChap Says:

    Shaq is preaching!

  32. Ndog Says:

Shaq needs to just stop talking. Regardless if his opinion is his alone or the entire teams you simply don’t do this to a teammate if you are a good teammate. Of course he is entitled to his opinion but please show me a quote from Jameis when he has ever not fully supported a teammate or a unit of the team. So the folks that like this surely believe that James should have been up on the podium after the Seattle game asking where was Shaq with his 1 tackle and .5 sacks while he defense is getting worked over. Or after the Giants game when Daniel freaking Jones walked up and down the field on our defense he could have said ” well if we had a defense we would have won today”. Or after the Atlanta game he could have said ” dont look at me if we had a flipping kicker we would have won in a blow out”. You see folks it goes both ways and those that live in glass houses should not throw stones.

In my opinion every time he opens his mouth he is costing himself money.

  33. Craig Says:

If Jameis needs this as a wake-up call, we are in deep do-do. His interception rate has not and will not go down considerably.

No matter what he will throw 18-22 interceptions next season, if he doesn’t price himself out of the market.

If Arians is any kind of a coach he will see that it would be easier to raise up a rookie QB than to try and fix all of the shnit that Jameis does wrong.

I am pretty sure Jameis will be franchised. If he has two bad games in RayJay, the place will melt down.

Remember, Jameis, only you can prevent wildfires and stadium meltdowns.

  34. BucEmUp Says:

Who said top dollar? Did you say top dollar? Did the Bucs say top dollar? I’ve heard the drama driven media suggest top dollar but who worth mentioning has suggested top dollar that has ANY leverage in negotiations?

$20 – $22 million is what he will sign for which is WELL worth the risk and the production.

  35. miken Says:

This iswhy the Bucs will only be bidding against themselves. Good teams like the Patriots want #3, but on a contract like 2 years 20 million.

  36. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

Winston…….the Great Divider. Divided the fan base since 2015. Now he’s dividing teammates. Perfect.

  37. Matthew Fifer Says:

    @NDog
“In my opinion every time he opens his mouth he is costing himself money.”

And fortunately no one here or in the Buc’s organization cares at all about your opinion :). I’ll admit I agree that Jameis has never thrown anyone under the bus, but that’s not necessarily a good thing. When a player screws up, they SHOULD be called out; be it the team; be it the coach; be it the media. Not doing that only conveys an image that poor play is acceptable. Winston is a very nice person, in this sport, that’s not a good thing.

  38. K2 Says:

I guess he’s suppose to lie… He could say, “I don’t care how many interceptions Jameis throws…he’s my QB! We would prefer to lose… Jameis should make 40 million a year because he has great leadership.” Leadership is more important than interceptions and winning!

  39. TexBuc Says:

Winston has always been IMMATURE! He just turned 26 last month and will calm down as he matures. Some do take longer to mature.

  40. NPRSageBoy. Says:

He hadn’t improved since Bucs wasted 1st pick in 2015 on him.

    Shame on Bucs

  41. Siege the Bay Says:

This defense has been a LIABILITY since Jameis has been on the bucs. He could have thrown all of them under the bus almost every game of his career.

  42. Couch Fan Says:

Oh so now Barrett getting a little success and now he can judge who plays in the NFL?
    ————

Lamarcus was just telling us yesterday how ALL atheletes say how great Jameis is and how we need to keep him and only those who are unathletic and never played the game before dont like Winston….

Now the hypocrit says Shaq isnt entitled to an opinion. Why? Because he doesnt agree with your @ss kissing philosophy. LMAO. These winston fan boys are being exposed for the frauds that they are. Including you NDog.

  43. mark2001 Says:

    Bingo.

But why didn’t he say..but if he has 6000 yards and 35 TD’s…nevermind?

Because those turnovers are murder on the psyche of a team.

  44. mark2001 Says:

    Seige..I’ll tell you why…

Because Jameis knows, unlike most Buc fans, that those turnovers skew the play of the D…they give scores, momentum, and shortened fields to the other teams…as do not seeing open receivers, and playing for the big plays and ignoring the first downs.

But oh man…look at the numbers…bologna.

  45. LaMarcus Says:

    Couch fan

I was talking about ALL Hofs accomplished athletes……. now for Barrett. He got 1 good year under his belt and now thinks he can judge a player. Barrett was out of job this time last year so he should foh

So I guess Warren Moon opinion holds more water than “Shaq Barrett” first time starter

  46. Tye Says:

“Because I don’t think you can have multiple seasons doing stuff like that and stay in the league.”

Smart business says he is right and yet 5 in a row of the same and the Bucs are debating whether to keep him in the league… Most if not all other teams would have wisely deduced he is losing investment:
5 seasons, 70 games, 3 HC, plays no better than a rookie, chokes often on what cold be winning drives…
Just a glimpse of seeing why the Bucs will never make playoffs or be a winner until they make better decisions to create a winning team!

  47. Matthew Fifer Says:

    Tye Says:
    February 6th, 2020 at 2:41 pm
chokes often on what cold be winning drives…

Just to pile on with that statement, in 2019 in 4th quarter final drives when we were down by 7 or less points, Jameis threw 1 touchdown and 5 interceptions :).

But you know, it’s all the rest of the teams fault.

  48. JP_09 Says:

it’d be hard for Winston to throw an individual/unit under the bus a game after he threw two pick 6s that cost the team the game. I don’t see how the person who leads the league in turnover since the day he was drafted would be taken seriously in that situation. Though, it would be entertaining to watch I guess. Here’s to shi@ty 5th year players calling out rookies and second year players

  49. SteveK Says:

    Gettem Couch Fan!

Thanks for calling out the flip flopping opinion of another player giving their opinion

  50. Pewter Power Says:

Believe the bucs are looking at veteran free agents, If defensive players say that imagine how BA feels

  51. SteveK Says:

    Ndog,

Do you close your eyes and count to ten very time Jameis turns it over? You can’t unsee all those bad decisions. #TurnoverBlind

  52. CrackerBall Says:

I don’t know if it’s wise to critique a team mate in the media – but nothing Shaq Barrett said was incorrect. If Jameis is no longer a Buc in 202, none of this talk really matters.

He simply said what others are afraid to say…

  53. SteveK Says:

    CrackerBall!

What’s up dude? Love reading your comments over at sbnation. It’s an interesting look. Decision Jameis.

  54. 813bucboi Says:

SHAQ had to sit behind 2 1st round pick von and shane ray…..lol….

he was an UDFA that took full advantage of his opportunity…..the pressure was on him to produce and he did…..he bet on himself and hit the jackpot…..

    he’s a SB champ…..something JW cant even dream about…

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  55. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Shaq also said he thinks Jameis can be the QB to win a Super Bowl with so it’s not like Shaq doesn’t know he’s got talent. Sorry but Shaq didn’t say anything we don’t already know.
It doesn’t change the fact that 2019 was a statistical anomaly for JW and he will be brought back in 2020.
    Go BUCS!!

  56. BrianBucs Says:

    Yikes!!! From a teammate even.

This shows how the Bucs players REALLY feel about Winston and his turnovers giving away their games.
Don’t think even for a second that the Bucs players aren’t totally frustrated by Winston’s careless and horrible play.

  57. SteveK Says:

    Alaska,

    I hope we get
A Vet and a rookie. Pay about $20 million of cap towards the backup and sign all the guys on d and add a safety in FA.

Shaq needs to just stop talking.

    truth hurts huh?….lol….

shaq is simply holding JW accountable…..

    he couldve easily said:

it was his 1st year in the offense….
or the kicker shouldve made the kicks….
or WRs ran the wrong route….
    or o-line sucks….
    or play calling sucks…..
    or no run game…..
    or defense sucks….

or whatever other excuse the apologist come up with…..

    GO BUCS!!!!!!
    or too windy….

  59. adam from ny Says:

wow media is pinning shaq up against jaboo…

beef might brew in the locker room with these shenannies…

    media undermining the bucs

  60. Jean Lafitte Says:

All I got to say is wait till Shaq has to have a sit down with Licht, because Jameis is Licht’s guy.

Again, I bet Shaq’s agent is on Lichts speed dial

  61. Bucnjim5656 Says:

My biggest concern is in a contract year Winston falls flat on his face! Shaq on the other hand plays lights out and actually deserves a payday. In short is this the best Winston has to offer? Most players play their best ball in contract years!

  62. Marlow1976 Says:

    It did you die!?

  63. Marlow1976 Says:

    Proof read 😂

  64. Aceofaerospace Says:

Shaq must be a racist also. That is after all, the only explainable reason for criticizing Mr Pick-6.

  65. Defense Rules Says:

Adam from NY … Interesting take (at 3:12 PM) but I’d never expect any less from the media. Probably why so few REALLY open up to the media huh.

  66. Bucsfan951 Says:

NPUPPY never ceases to amaze me! Honestly, I think I’m down clowning on this dude. It’s just too easy. I think it’s actually sad to keep getting on him since I think he’s a few cards short of playing with a full deck.

  67. Bucsfan951 Says:

NPUPPY I want to call a truce? I will not make fun of you and prove you wrong on the daily. When you comment something completely idiot (your daily posts), I will not prove you wrong (daily). I will simply read your comment, laugh hysterically, make fun of you in my head, and tuck my hands in my pocket and simply move on.

    Deal?

  68. Defense Rules Says:

@Joe … “The Bucs’ sacks legend even added that Jameis needs a bounceback 2020 or he might be out of football.”

I don’t think Shaq said that or meant that. Jiminy Christmas. That’s exactly what Shaq said. Joe doesn’t need to listen to it for the fifth time.–Joe

I think instead that’s the way that you interpreted Shaq’s comments.

MAYBE Shaq was simply trying to share a teammate’s perspective of what Jameis is feeling right now. That’s all. Don’t need to read any more into it than meets the eye.

Go back & reread his comments. He said right upfront that Jameis knows that he’s “got to get better at that (the turnovers)”. Then he added in positive support … “He’s going to get better at that … He knows there’s pressure on himself to get better”.

Like I said in an earlier comment, I don’t view that as being critical of Jameis overall. But when media redefines what a player says (Jameis needs a “bounceback 2020 or he might be out of football”) then y’all shouldn’t blame players or coaches for not opening up to you in subsequent interviews.

  69. Beeej Says:

If Shaq is saying it in public, a bunch more are saying it in private

  70. Bucnjim5656 Says:

I know there is some offensive lineman that are still all in on Winston because I’ve talked to them and they seemed sincere in their answer. The defense probably a little different. They were made the scapegoat early in the season and were still made the scapegoat when they were playing well enough to win most games.

  71. Ndog Says:

Again I love the attacks but like usual you have nothing to say about what I actually posted. Was anything I said inaccurate? Has Jameis ever done this with plenty of opportunities? Has he not had multiple opportunities to do so over the course of his career and just last year? Is it productive for teammates to talk out of turn especially when it is on the other side of the ball? And again if Jameis did this and ripped Donovan Smith for blowing a block or Cam Brate for dropping a ball on 4th down, or yet another kicker for blowing a kick wouldn’t you be killing him for being a bad teammate?

Of course you would but again that is the very clear bias that has always been there. But you know what who cares, history will speak for itself, but right now history says Jameis is more of a sure thing than Shaq and I’m clearly a fan of both players but Shaq is certainly not a player I would look forward to being a teammate of.

  72. SteveK Says:

Jameis is more of a sure thing: turnover machine.

I’m putting my eggs in Shaq’s Basket every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

  73. Wesley Says:

    I just farted.

  74. John.L Says:

    Ndog,you need to stop typing!

  75. LaMarcus Says:

Yea we will pay Barrett 20 million a year for 34.5 career sacks in 6 years. We better franchise tag him and that’s over paying as well. That’s William Gholston production

  76. SteveK Says:

    LaMarcus,

Barrett gets sacks, and doesn’t cost his team with poor play to accrue the stats. He’s not s liability in the run.

  77. mark2001 Says:

The problem is, Ndog, is that Jameis has little room to rip anyone. As soon as he does, the next game he will throw two or three interceptions. There are QB’s in this league whose body of work has been consistent enough to do such things…Brady, AR, among them. But not Jameis..not even close.

  78. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

813- Shaq actually said in interviews that receivers ran the wrong routes and it was his first year in the system and he will be better next year.
Just making sure we are being truthful and informed here.

  79. mark2001 Says:

And i’ll go one step further. I believe Jameis’s off the field problems, which I think he may have a handle on, thank God, and has taken him out of games, hurt his ability to develop that credibility. His Int.’s and lack of game winning moments has hurt his ability to develop that credibility. So how does he overcome it? Not thousands of yards and TD’s in a vacuum. But making plays and winning games, when the team is down and by putting the team on his shoulders, and winning those games. That is what he must do..if he can.

  80. mark2001 Says:

Alaska…I don’t think his two comment are at odds with each other. They can both be true.

  81. Bird Says:

Ndog calling out bias is so him
He is the biggest hypocrite on here . Claims he has no bias too for FSU players
    😂

LVD and Godwin And Evans have said the same thing. Those are the best players on bucs. Whats great is the coaches say same thing
They see every snap of every practice and game

But hey. They are wrong and the armchair qb ndog is right
So is lamarcus. Honestly, I think you guys would be cute together

    And BIG HOG.

Yah. Lets get rid of a guy that was close to 20 sacks cause he was a meany to your man crush. He doesnt kiss his as$ like you. You guys are too creepy.

  82. Defense Rules Says:

Sorry Joe. I didn’t see the part that Shaq “added that Jameis needs a bounceback 2020”. Based on what I saw I interpreted his comments in a broader sense; not specifically 2020. I’m sure that Shaq’s interview was a lot longer than just that 1 para anyways.

  83. Locked In Says:

This is good for the team, players holding other players accountable. We need more of this.

  84. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Ndildo

In regards to JayMiss not calling out his teammates you’re right.

But when you eff up as much as the Soiled Messiah does he’d be an absolute idiot to call someone else out.
He’s close to that but not quite….

  85. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Ndog, you want a Jay MIss quote. How ’bout, “I be ballin’!” That certainly sounds like a Stanford Rhodes Scholar.

  86. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Mark- I agree, my previous post was a response to 813.

  87. mark clements Says:

How many points did the giants score in the second half, defence sucked most of the season or was the qbs fault too!

  88. Bob in Valrico Says:

It is not true that Jameis never called anybody out. As I recall he made a big stink about some D lineman laughing in the locker room after a loss. IMO ,Jameis did not play well enough in the game to be calling anybody out.

  89. FlBoy84 Says:

Absolutely agree @Beeej, “If Shaq is saying it in public, a bunch more are saying it in private”. Have posted elsewhere that it seems impossible to think that JW’s consistent turnovers haven’t had an affect on the mentality of the entire team. A losing culture isn’t just perpetuated by losing games, it’s also exacerbated by consistent, preventable, repetitive, self-inflicted negative plays, even in wins.

  90. Bucc941 Says:

Remember when Vic Beasley had an unexpected breakout year and then went on to become a dominant edge rusher? Neither do I. Pay Shaq or pay Jameis? Either way it goes we’re screwed.

    It’s a Bucs life!

  91. Tye Says:

    FlBoy84,
I grew up around football.. many decades of witnessing different things about the sport, especially locker rooms..

Players who truly are passionate about the game and love the sport only can take so much of the same person screwing up game after game being responsible often for the loses… Those people’s passion will cause them to resent and despise that player over time…
When your QB throws a pick 6 on the last play of the game to lose it for everyone, that isn’t going to sit well with everyone.. JW did it like in several games..
Once and players look at their qb like, hey, it happens…
Twice and they are like, that’s just had luck…
3 or more and players get the mindset, we can’t win with this choke artist!

  92. Dapostman Says:

    Shaq logic? lol

First off if Winston has another 33TD/30INT season season he will not be out of the league. This is a stupid opinion. He will be a backup somewhere. Not in Tampa but somewhere until the next opportunity comes about.

The posters with Winston Derangement Syndrome jump on da Shaq quote like he be gospel. Please………………….

  93. Ndog Says:

So where was Shaq when Daniel Jones walked in the endzone? Where was Shaq when Russell Wilson was carving us up all day? Where was Shaq when Teddy Bridgewater sat on the pocket had a drink and still picked us apart? Last time I checked isn’t is his job to stop the other team? So by not doing anything isn’t that helping us lose games? And that is not even taking into account is 2nd in the entire league offsides penalities.

And lastly which unit carried this team this year the #3 scoring offense in the NFL by throwing the ball all over the place or the 30th ranked passing defense?

So should be the one talking trash on the other?

But oh yeah one is a great teammate the other is currently a one year wonder talking out of his a$$.

  94. Bucsfan951 Says:

Imagine if Winston cut down his ints this last season. I mean, 121 points were scored off of Winston turnovers! That’s 7.5 points per game.

Yes, Winston threw over 600 times. But so did Goff, wentz, Ryan, and Brady. Want to know the total ints of those 4 qbs combined? 45.

Isn’t that crazy? But Winston was balling tho!

  95. FlBoy84 Says:

    Well said @Tye…

  96. LaMarcus Says:

If ints is getting to the team mentality then we have a bunch of ruddy poo new school kids on this team. I remember when defenders wanted every opportunity to get after some one.

I guess this is not the case no more. Its 2020. I can picture them now ” Dang Jameis waaa. Another one? Aww man”

How is this defense so good when they dont even want to go out to field no more than they have to? No matter the qb. This defense is still soft

  97. ATrain Says:

    Winston Sucks

If you can not see his throws are like ducks
    He can’t read defense
    He stares down receivers

You need to take up watching checkers

Oh wait he threw for 5000 yrds

    Defense needs to play more
    Defense needs to stop more

    NO JAMIES SUCKS

  98. Bob in Valrico Says:

Jameis is one ,if not the most error prone player on the team. Jameis is carrying the team nowhere, that’s why he is being evaluated. He has not played well when it counts in the fourth quarter with a 66%QB rating in all his fourth quarters. When he has been behind by more than 7 points he has approximately
a 63% QB rating in the fourth quarter.

    Blasphemy I say…

For someone who only spews “facts” in order to educate all of us “clueless” ones!

  100. Kord Says:

If every teammate could say how they felt, not one person would say they want JAMEIs back

  102. Defense Rules Says:

Shaq didn’t throw Jameis under the bus. According to this article, Shaq called him a ‘great leader’ and ‘immensely talented’. He also said that Jameis ‘is going to get better at that (not turning the ball over so much)’. That’s about as positive as anyone could get. Yes Shaq added his opinion that players who turn the ball over a bunch for ‘multiple’ seasons don’t have long NFL careers (he never said BTW that ‘multiple’ meant 2019 & 2020 … he could have meant 5-10 seasons, who knows). Personally I’d say that NFL history would validate his contention.

What I do have trouble understanding though is folks who throw spears at any player who’s just responding to a question & stating his opinion. Beau Allen made $4 mil in 2019 and produced 0.5 sacks, 10 tackles, 2 TFL & 1 QB Hit (he did that in 179 defensive snaps). Shaq Barrett made a tad more ($5 mil) but delivered:

    o 16 games played with 889 defensive snaps (78.7%).
    o 19.5 sacks, 37 QB Hits, 19 TFLs, 2 PD and 58 tackles.

That’s an incredible difference in production for $1 mil. I’d say that the Bucs more than got their money’s worth … Ndog.

Also not nice to denigrate the defense when you know full well that the #29 ranking was largely due to giveaways by the Bucs offense. Jameis alone accounted for 7 TDs … for the opposition. Throw in the results of the short fields from other giveaways and the points total tagged to the Bucs’ defense because of the offense’s giveaways more than doubles. Oh and BTW, the Bucs offense would rank #8 offensively if you took away the 6 TDs scored by the Bucs’ DEFENSE. Shouldn’t go bragging on what you didn’t earn. We’ve got enough politicians who already do that.

  105. Ndog Says:

Yeah the defense sucked cause of TOs yeah sure buddy you keep believing that complete and utter bullsh!t. My goodness you guys spread lies so often you start believing your own lies.

So why did the Giants score so much, cause of one TO right?
32 points to a rookie first game starter, 0 points off a TO.

So why did the Seahawks so much, cause of the one TO right?
40 points with exactly 3 coming off of a TO.

So why did the Rams score so much, cause the one TO right?
    40 with 7 coming off a TO.

So why did the Saints score so much, cause of the 0 TOs right?
31 when 0 coming off of a TO.

Im sure none of those debacles had anything to do with our crappy defensive output. And oh lookie there we lost 3 of those games as well who would have guessed that? Oh anyone but you idiots.

  106. cmurda Says:

Shaq is speaking truth and it’s refreshing to hear a teammate with the nads to say that Jameis’s propensity to turn the ball over is unacceptable. I agree with D Rules that he didn’t exactly throw him under the bus. I still saw full support there but I also saw a demand of accountability by Shaq. Rightfully so. I think Jameis will return but only for a 1 year tag. Another wait and see year with Jameis. Do or die…..again.

  107. DBS Says:

Bucs offense only scored 18 points in the Giants game. How did they keep getting the ball back ? 3 points on a turn over in Seattle you don’t go to overtime. You win. But yup. If we had the ball first it was a guaranteed win.Same logic used if Gay makes his kicks.

  108. BrianBucs Says:

Shaq is saying publically what the other Bucs players are saying privately. They are disgusted and frustrated with Winston’s careless and game costing play.
And you can bet that Winston knows that his teammates feel this way. They like him as a person and a teammate, but don’t like him as their QB.

  109. Bob in Valrico Says:

    N dog
Since you brought up penalties what Franchise Qb is guilty of a headbutt ,losing downs on intentional grounding penalties and poking his finger in the wrong place on and off the field.
And Jameis let the giants back in the game at the 12 minute mark of the fourth quarter when he failed to hit Evans on the giants 30 yard line. It was a hot read and Evans was open from hashmark to hashmark ,not where Jameis finally threw
it high and well behind Evans.

  110. lambchop Says:

How is what Shaq said being turned into “he threw Jameis under the bus”? Do people not SEE the INTs? Is he saying something from the locker room? Hel| nah! It’s the truth. He throws too many INTs,

if Jameis was NOT the #1 pick, his candy crush ash would already be the best backup QB in the league from a season ago.

  111. T REX Says:

Jameis just threw another pick 6!

  112. Bucsfan951 Says:

    How quickly some forget…:

    1. Niners game. Lost 31-17. Points off Winston t/o: 15

    2. Panthers game. Lost 37-26. points off of Winston t/o: 16

    3. Titans game. Lost 27-23. Points off of Winston t/o: 14

    4. Saints game. Lost 34-17. Points off of Winston t/o: 14. Also had an int at the saints 1 yard line. Should’ve scored td. That’s actually 21 points lost.

    5. Colts game. Won 38-35. Points off of Winston turnovers: 14

    6. Texans game. Lost 23-20. Points off of Winston turnovers: 10 points. Also int on a game winning drive with 1:31 to go.

    7. Falcons game. Lost 28-22. Points off of Winston turnovers: 13 points. Pick 6 to end that game and perhaps his Buccaneers career.

10 games with multiple ints. Yes, I’ll be the first to admit the defense isn’t perfect or fixed but if you think the above isn’t a problem, then I feel bad for ya.

REMEMBER PPL, 121 POINTS SCORED BY THE OPPONENTS OFF OF WINSTON TURNOVERS!!!!

45 TOTAL INTS BY 4 OTHER QBS WHO THREW OVER 600 PASSES EACH LAST SEASON. 45 INTS COMBINED BETWEEN THE 4 OF THEM!!!!

    WINSTON: 626 THROWS, 30 INTS

4 OTHER QBS: OVER 2400 PASSES, 45 INTS

    DONT FAKE THE FUNK!!!!

  113. Jay Says:

The truth hurts huh Winston lovers

  114. Defense Rules Says:

Bucsfan951 … Good stuff. Losing the ‘Turnover Differential’ is almost always deadly.

  115. Bucsfanman Says:

This is hilarious to me. They asked the guy a question and he gave an honest answer. We’re in here dissecting it because we are so desperate for news on Jameis.
Nothing he said was untrue or unfair. And for the sensitive ones, we talked about the defensive shortcomings ad nauseam all season long so put down the cross.
Shaq is more than entitled to his opinion, even more so than any of us. I don’t get where anyone reads him “throwing Jameis under the bus.” Those are facts people. Fifty years of NFL data prove it.

  116. SufferingSince76 Says:

Would you guys stop picking on Jameis? He might get his feelings hurt and go win a Super Bowl with the Patriots. It is plain it’s the rest of the team that sucks.
