“High Possibility”

January 14th, 2020

Depressing info.

This should give Bucs fans the shivers.

It seems this offseason the Bucs will be in the market for a new starting quarterback. Why does Joe type this? Because a well-plugged in guy has unsettling info that he shared on Twitter.

J.C. Cornell, founder and big-shot of The Draft Network, has an explosive update on the fate of free agent quarterback, Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

Now why does Joe bring you word from Cornell that is unattributed? Because Joe knows Cornell has a direct pipeline to a shot-caller high up the Bucs food chain.

One may ask if Cornell is getting played? Fair question, but he hasn’t been played in the past.

So let the speculation begin. What stiff quarterback is going to succeed Jameis and throw constant checkdowns and target receivers short of the chains?

I trust Bruce Arians I want him back for another year but if he doesn’t think that’s the best route I trust him

  2. MadMax Says:

    Great news!!!

  3. Mr. Reality Says:

Answer: Hopefully NO “stiff QB” is going to yada yada yada whatever back at Joe’s dumb statement/question. What a stupid hypothetical that is, like (the dumb) Joe thinks if we don’t keep Winston, that’s what we have to get? You have been used to writing about losing too long to understand.

Here’s one for you: Colts.com has a little Buzz on the NFL’s turnover machine.

“Nicholas C. (Toledo, Ohio): “Will the colts (hopefully) explore signing Jameis Winston and adding a big WR (Jeudy) in the 1st round? Jameis would make us an instant contender.”

Walker: I’ll be quick: I do not personally envision a scenario in which Jameis Winston is the Colts’ quarterback in 2020.”
    ————–
We’ll see as free agency starts to heat up, but I seriously doubt any team is interested in paying big money for Winston. When it comes to paying $25-30 million or more for a QB, he’d better be someone that is the face of your franchise, someone fans can unite aound. It’s not this clown.

If the Bucs do anything other than use Winston as a bridge as they draft a new QB, or if they don’t just outright sign a FA like Rivers or Bridgewater (don’t think either are checkdown stiffs), But Winston may not be interested in that. His best hope to keep his career going IF the Bucs move on
NOW is an injury to a starter somewhere and a team is depserate.

None of the 5 QBs who threw for the most yards went to the playoffs this year. NONE of them. Garbage yards, and mostly after they were out of contention, thanks very larely to Winston’s turnover problem.

I’d rather have the benefit of seeing steak cooked AND get to eat it at the end…not be ushered out of the restaurant. Winston’s “balling” as he states has yielded nothing but skinny fans when it comes to wins.

  4. ClwJB Says:

When the word horrible came out of BA in the final presser when reviewing the QB – made me think that was pretty telling –

I won’t be surprised either way as This is JW, the human Turnover machine

  5. Bruce Blahak Says:

America’s Jameis hugger writing this. Slagging the next QB before he even knows who it is. Maybe we snag the next Tom Brady, who knows. Such positive spin. WinSTUNNED sucks! Bought time you clued in. You failed with the America’s moniker. Thank god when this nightmare is over. Bye bye turnover machine…

  6. Jeagan1999 Says:

Good news. Time to move on.

  7. Mr. Reality Says:

Consider this. A little less than two minutes remain in the game, Bucs are down 5 points, and they have it 1st and 10 on their own 25. Based on proven ability, which QB is MOST LIKELY to take the Bucs to the end zone and win the game? Hmmm. Rivers, Bridgewater, Dalton, Winston? Hmmm again. May be a toughie. Okay, ask this: Which QB is most likely throw and pick and end all hope?

  8. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Trade everything we have, Winston, Evans, draft picks, Licht, to Cincinnati for the first pick so we can get Joe Burrow.

  9. Defense Rules Says:

Not buying it. You’ve got to have something to move on TO in order to even have a feel IF it’s a better option. From a BUSINESS perspective moving on from Jameis may make sense to the Glazers … cost of keeping him would be high from a salary Cap perspective & would limit other things you NEED to do; not putting butts in the seats; etc, etc. But their decision requires a much broader perspective than JUST BUSINESS.

Surely they’ll need to have a pretty good feel that the ALTERNATIVE would do better. And in order to do that, you need to know WHO the alternative will be. Bucs aren’t there … YET. Nope; February 25th at the earliest IMO (first day to franchise tag). Until then, just speculation, UNLESS they’ve secretly worked out SOMETHING behind the scenes with some other team & are just waiting until they can legally make it official.

  10. mark2001 Says:

I’ve consistently said.,.trust Arians… he knows if Jameis is signable/ retrievable…if he can ever be the QB that can lead us deep into the playoffs and SB. If he isn’t, he isn’t. If he is. I can live with his decision. You have to believe someone in the organization is a good judge of QB talent, and I choose to believe that is Bruce. Haters…Lovers… deal with it. And have a little faith.

  11. mark2001 Says:

D Rules…. Bruce isn’t a “babe in the woods”. And I think he probably has in mind what the alternatives are and what he wants to do. These guys don’t sit in a isolation box until the first day of FA., though I know there are rules and such to limit their communications. Is this about negotiations? Where is the process really? We don’t know. But I bet Bruce has a pretty good feel about the alternatives pretty much already.

  12. Bucsfanman Says:

“Should I stay or should I go now?”
Ah, the daily bipolar Jameis articles!
We’ve been losing just fine WITH Jameis for 5years folks. We’ve been losing before him too.
    EVERYBODY can be replaced!!!

  13. Proudbucsfan Says:

I have a bad feeling that Blaine Gabbert will be our starting quarterback in 2020

  14. Mort Says:

    Boy that would be silly.

  15. TiredBucsFan Says:

I am mixed about it. If they get a good replacement then great. I at times think anybody is better, but he obviously is so productive when hes having a good day. I hope they have a plan in place.

  16. Don_RyJo(e) Says:

I remain wholly in favor of franchise-tagging Winston. I’d like to see if a second year in Arians’ system fixes him, even though I have serious doubts about that happening. But here’s the thing: If Future-Jameis looks anything like Past-Jameis, then I don’t see the point of keeping him? The ultimate goal of any football organization (I know, I know – the goal of NFL OWNERS is to make money, pure and simple, but I’m talking about the organization) is to compete for a championship. Jameis just yanks us around. He’s amazing. He’s trash. He’s brilliant. He’s mentally deficient. Let’s say he somehow manages to throw together enough winning streaks (intermingled with the disaster/losing streaks that we all know will be there) to sneak into the playoffs. I don’t trust him to not throw five picks in the playoff game. I just don’t.

  17. thunderchunkyPA Says:

Once again, I don’t care WHO is at QB, I just want WINS. If B.A. thinks he can not WIN with #3, move on. I could care less about passing yards, or INT’s, I want WINS.

  18. Matt Says:

I also put my faith in BA to make the best decision for our franchise. Let Jameis test free agency and see he is not worth 25m+ and sign him for 15-18m and give him big incentive based bonuses and draft a QB to push him. Either way, I know we will be a better team next year with or without a Jameis.

  19. Bobby M. Says:

Its all relative…..high possibility could be 40% chance, which still means the odds are greater he comes back.

  20. firethecannons Says:

ready for new QB, we are broke after signing the entire defense, get Jacob Eason in round 2–new QB means we have some money to work with

  21. ATrain Says:

We moved on from GMC and y’all screamed we will suck

    Defense was much better

    SOOOOO

  22. Rosadog Says:

Let Lamar Jackson’s performance in the playoffs serve as a benchmark of how garbage time stats mean nothing!

    However, the turnovers …

Jameis is not Steve Young or Doug WILLIAMS. Stop living in the past. You can’t win with turnovers in the NFL. That has been a constant in all eras of football!

  23. Alanbucsfan Says:

    Happy Birthday, Byron Leftwich!

  24. mark2001 Says:

Him staying gives me the shivers…him going gives me the shivers… seems right now, most of us are likely shivering. But then, if Bruce has a greatest specialty, it is QB’s. So I will trust in his decisions.

  25. Bird Says:

    Not happening
Probably just some jedi mind games going on here to bring price down a tad
Jameis can make most money here

    Just fyi
Joe burrow – 60 tds 6 ints 5,670 yards in one less game then NFl qbs
Cincinnati fans should have been partying in the streets same as NEw Orleans last night

    What a stud.

  26. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

Watching the Play Offs…I don’t see any common QB traits in the any of the Play
Off QB’s and Jameis….other than Jameis occasionally make some of the throws the Play Off QBs consistently make…..when in 5 years has Jameis brought the team from behind ?
Last year was Jameis’s Prove it year…he proved it all right !
NO team would pay him what the Bucs paid him LAST year
    Let him test the marketplace

  27. NPRSageBoy Says:

I’m ecstatic! Best news so far this off-season!

Finally, someone with a functioning brain is making a wise decision for the Bucs.

Bye, bye JayMiss. You won’t be missed

    Peace, out.

  28. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

Drama, drama only in the NFL. Can the Bucs just make a decision so we can go all in with whoever. Tired of reading and talking about it. Not bringing back Winston in my opinion would be a huge mistake and will set this franchise even further back from winning a Super Bowl in the near future. Leave it to the fans again to run another good one out of town if this happens.

  29. Jecir Says:

Four times this season JW had the ball with few minutes remaining. A TD wins the game.Four times he killed the chances with picks! He is an average QB who is not to be trusted with the game on the line. Reading this article just made my day.

  30. Pewter power Says:

I dont care how plugged in he is yes everyone gets played this time of year. They’ve never been in a position to pay a quarterback this amount of money before. Friends be dammed theres no reason to be tipping your hand unless it benefits the organization. Jc Cornell and no one else can sway my mind one way or the other still in the 2019 season.

  31. Bucy Says:

Best news ever, i would welcome any FA Qb over this Winston.

  32. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I would have no problem with Phillip Rivers being our QB……or Bridgewater…..or even Manning….
    My question would be…..who’s next?
We are now good enough to not get a high draft position…..so the next QB will be very, very costly from a draft standpoint….unless, BA is really good at spotting future talent in later rounds.

  33. BeaverSqueezer Says:

    Change the uniforms and helmet.

  34. AwShbucs Says:

I’ll bet $100 to any takers that Jameis is the starting Qb for this team in 2020.

  35. Ndog Says:

If this happens it shouldn’t surprise anyone as this would have the Bucs written all over it. We are the farm club for the NFL and we wonder why we suck.

  36. Stevebobucsfan Says:

All I have to say here is be careful what u wish for. And on the other hand, as much as Winston has stunk in some cases he has also been great in many others I am sure there is a team out there that will give him a decent contract. Also maybe Jameis is tied of all the losing and blame in Tampa and want out. When you think about it over the past 5 losing years so many Bucs fans have blame Winston for the losing

  37. Robert Says:

Tell me something I don’t know. TGWG

I want to know why they didn’t trade him when he had value. we could have been in the playoffs this year with more cap room and draft picks!!!!!

licht is second on my “done with” list

  38. stpetebucsfan Says:

I thought I was the old school dude here but even I have eyes.

The NFL has changed!!! The days of a QB needing to ride the pine observing ala Aaron Rodgers are over! The days of a rookie QB needing a couple of years are over…sometimes they need FIVE…ok sorry for the jab.

Look at this year’s playoffs!!! I saw a graphic at the beginning that floored me.
The majority of QB’s were first or second year players. We can perhaps write off Patrick Mahomes as a true exception…he is beyond amazing. The others are good and represent a change in strategy…Jackson..Watson..are a new breed but again there is more than one way to get er done. Josh Allen took the Bills to the playoffs with a more traditional approach.

In addition the right retread can get it done…I do not see that here in Tampa with the exception of Rivers because BA is not a game manager he’s a let it fly kind of guy who tells his QB after his umpteenth pick six…don’t stop let her fly.

But IF…admittedly a big IF..BA is flexible enough again there is more than one way to win.

So somebody feared seeing Blaine Gabbert as our QB next year. Another responded yikes….and I thought…this was probably the same reaction in Nashville when Tannehill took over. This is not and endorsement of Gabbert just a gentle reminder…as Forrest once said spit happens.

JW may or not be good or great next year. He is NOT irreplaceable and QB’s in the NFL are not as scarce as hens teeth. I can totally understand why one of the Joes believes that. IMO the reason WE believe QB’s are hard to find is because we are the FREAKING BUCS. So hell yeah we have had trouble…but..have we had trouble finding a kicker…are they impossible to find…how about an edge rusher…a DB…

We have now demonstrated the ability to find DB’s…edge rushers…next on the list…RB and perhaps QB.

  39. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Clueless Joe cracks me up acting like we would be getting rid of Montana in his prime

Bucs would be refusing to overpay a turnover prone average at best qb who can’t play consistently well for more than 2 or 3 games

Bucs fans are so use to awful QBs that they think a barely average one is a hall of Famer ha ha ha ha

  40. Bird Says:

    Loyalty

No doubt . It gives him the shivers ?
    Wow

Why does the one schmoe act like he is 12 ?

  41. AwShbucs Says:

    Stpete.

Patrick Mahomes was on the bench his rookie season, save one game.

  42. Buczilla Says:

I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t come back. I’ll be pi$$ed if we don’t find a backup with a pulse and draft someone outside the first round.

  43. Pugs&Bucs Says:

Listening to people blame Jameis for everything wrong with the Bucs is like listening to a first year college dirk insisting on how socialism actually works

  44. miken Says:

Don’t worry Noles… This is Fake News

  45. AwShbucs Says:

And the Gabbert/ Tannehill comparison… wow. Just wow…

You are aware that Tannehill was a viable, competent starter in Miami for numerous seasons arent you? Threw for 4,000+ in back to back seasons in 2014 & 2015. And threw 27 TDs/ 12 ints & 24 TDs/ 12 ints respectively those years before his tenure in Miami was derailed by injury.

Gabbert, on the other hand, was simply horrendous as a starter for Jacksonville. So much so he’s viewed as one of the most egregiously bad draft busts in recent memory. Gabberts career to this point is so bad it makes Jameis’ look like Dan Marino in comparison.

The fact that you would even think to compare him to Tannehill makes me seriously wonder whether you’ve begun to slip into senility.

  46. ou812 Says:

And I thought I would have to give up my tickets!!!

Not sitting thru another 30+ turnover season!!!

IF this is true I am calling my ticket Rep. Best news all day!!!!

  47. NYbucsfan Says:

    Great News

  48. Tye Says:

    I would feel:
    ‘its about time’
‘now we can stop wasting seasons on a known failure and give the chance to discover a quality qb’
‘ maybe Bruce is a better HC than we think’
‘their maybe hope for the 2020 season for the Bucs to start the decade as winners and not the butt of the NFL!’

  49. stpetebucsfan Says:

    AwShbucs

Yes it took exactly ONE year for Mahomes to replace a Pro Bowl QB who had led the Chiefs to the playoffs multiple times. They rested Smith his the final game of Mahomes rookie year and after seeing the writing on the wall Reid traded a veteran QB who had led his team to the playoffs. How many NFL coaches have the cojones or imagination to do that? BA..has the cojones but imagination to change his offense…not sure about that…in fact I have my doubts.

Mahomes is a singular talent IMO. Reid is the top coach in the NFL right now.
He takes his talent and adapts and unlike the Pack did with Rodgers he moved on the change quickly.

Now mind you…if we drafted a raw meat rookie he wouldn’t be replacing a Pro Bowler who has led the Bucs to several playoffs.

  50. adam Says:

this was his “prove it” year, he did just that. Time for a new QB!

  51. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Awshucks

Wonder no more…I’ve definitely slipped into senility.

I accept your point. My comparison was bad writing. I did not mean to compare the careers of the two…just the fact that both were viewed as backups at the beginning of this season.

Certainly you’re entitled to believe one was more “justifiably” a backup than the other.

  52. I’m a Tandyman used to be Bucs Fan Says:

Hey if I were a Free Agent QB or a Rookie QB I would love to play for the Bucs!! Their team is actually not bad except for the QB position!!

  53. BrianBucs Says:

    Joe

This is great news for the vast majority of Bucs fans who want Winston out of here.
    Those shivers are from excitement!!!
Go Bucs!! Go get a QB that that you can win with and let Winston go be some other team’s backup

  54. stpetebucsfan Says:

    awshucks’

I write long posts so it’s easy to slide past a sentence.

“This is NOT an endorsement of Gabbert just a gentle reminder…as Forrest once said spit happens.”

I had not emphasized NOT in the first post so perhaps that was it. Trust me I’m not here pimping for Blaine Gabbert. More concerned that we keep open minds instead of JW is the ONLY way forward.

  55. TOM Says:

Any half decent QB would have taken the Bucs to the playoffs last year. Dalton comes to mind as well as Fitz, RG, Rivers, Bridgewater. Remember defense wins championships.

  56. BrianBucs Says:

    TOM

    EXACTLY!!!!!

  57. Nick2 Says:

Teddy Bridgewater is not a stiff he will move the chains like he did against the Bucs this year for 4 touchdowns and 300 plus yards. He didnt sign with the Dolphins last year but he probably saw the fire sale sign on the front door. The Bucs are poised to make a playoff run and you cant do that with a QB who gives the ball away like St Nicholas does presents at Christmas time. Bridgewater thinks before he throws he doesnt just sling it around the yard. Please Teddy come to Tampa and the playoffs are yours for the taking.

  58. Nick2 Says:

And if Teddy wont come here its time to move up and get Jordan Love or Herbert. In that scenario yes we will need a stiff for a few games. We are so gun shy having the worst defense in the league year in and year out but now we dont. Jameis made his own bed if he thinks 30 interceptions is “ballin” then let him take those pics down the road to Indianapolis.

  59. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

Shivers?? Heck, after LSU’s HUGE win (arguably the best college season ever), this is the second best news!!!

  60. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Morgus

I won’t argue with you…this was the best college football team I’ve seen in decades.

Clemson is the second best team in those same decades. Beating a DABO team confirms LSU’s greatness this season.

  61. 813bucboi Says:

    we’ll see….

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  62. Hodad Says:

He’s the scary thing for the Glazers, I don’t care what they do with Jameis. Apathy is setting in on the Buc fan base. We’ve been kicked in the nuts to many times to feel the pain anymore. If Winston returns, and loses our first home game with bad play, the stadium will be empty the rest of the season. I’d be more excited about next year with a new QB.

  63. Craig Says:

I can imagine the frustration Arians and Leftwich felt during those last two games. It would be easy to agree that Jameis is not teachable. You get optimistic about the win streak and BAM!

Eason in the second could be a good thing, unless Arians is still infatuated with Gabbert. Gabbert, the guy replaced by Blake Bortles and might actually be worse than that. His preseason play last season was a tenth of nothing. Griffin blew him away.

I don’t think Jameis has a chance to improve here. It is a psychological thing with both him and half of us fans. Maybe he will do a Josh Freeman.
It only took Freeman one game, out of a Bucs Uniform, to play his way out of the NFL.

  64. Robert Says:

BTW…..I was calling for Tannehill two years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  65. Adrnagy Says:

Jpp could’ve had 15 sacks. Are the Bucs going to pay top dollar for to pass rushers ?shaq 17m jpp 15m. In a average thought.
    8m nassib. Godwin payraise 8m. Suh 10m.
    58m. 88m cap. 30m left.
    Let’s say Winston gets 26m -28m.
Nothing left. So it looks like either Winston is in or out or 1-2 dline out.
Bruce said top priority is keeping defense the same.
1-We might see a veteran under center paying veteran money and having a great defense.
2-Winston resign and 2 dline out. Filling with draft.
3- keep Winston. Resign dline and make trades (brate , Jensen , etc)

  66. Jeff of George 101 Says:

But we’re coming off a record season of dominating opposing teams ..Kinda..and the entire NFL was talking JW ?? Anticipating his every pick errrr throw ??…I was scolded and shown the Licht by a best selling author on how teams that lose NEVER get rid of the QB because he obviously has zero outcome..but the next week told of JW’s W/L in ‘must throw’games cuz they matter..I wonder if this will affect my 1/4 price club seats for next year?? what’s next Rojo isn’t on pace to shatter Emmitts all time rushing mark??I feel like Bucco May have been biting his tounge just to tow the company line..Well this is an unpleasant development …

  67. Pete I Says:

    The 30-30 founding member

    111 Turnovers

    28 wins in 5 years.

5000 yards passing = losing season

  68. Wesley Says:

    This is very good news!

  69. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I’m pretty much in the trust Bruce Arians crowd. Either way.

  70. Jeagan1999 Says:

What do the following teams have in common….

    N.E.
    N.O.
    G.B.
    Sea
    Min
    Bal
    KC

They were the top 7 teams in Turnover Differential (From +21 N.E. to +8 K.C.)…..oh, yeah they also all made the playoffs!

What do these teams have in common……
    NYG
    LAC
    Cin
    Car
    Bucs
    Mia
    Cle

Yep, the 7 WORST Turnover Diff teams this year. None made the playoffs.

Starting to see the picture here???? Turnovers LOSE games!!!!

Time for a new QB who understands this concept!!

  71. fernando diaz Says:

Joe Burrow is a college system QB
He is not going to be on the board
Who gonna replace 5K in yards and 30TD
    Franchise tag looming
Is that simple not the right time

  72. PSL Bob Says:

If we pick up a good RB in the draft or FA, we don’t need Jameis to move this offense. I’m not arguing that Jameis should walk, I can go either way. But you don’t need someone throwing for 5,000 yards to win games. Just look what Tannehill has been able to do, and Tennessee’s receivers are nowhere near as good as our two primaries. But they do have a cat named Henry, who can pound the rock. We need someone who can reliably run for over 1,000 a season.

  73. bucsfaninoregon Says:

Sign him and trade him. Second round pick at least. If he is so good as Ndog and THE FEW WHO AGREE say he is, teams will be beating down the doors. If not, maybe the rest of the league agrees with us and Jameis is a loser.

  74. Mister Negative Nancy Says:

The one glaring thing in the playoffs is how few turnovers all the quarterbacks are making.

Winston could cut his interceptions by 25% and still be highest in the league in INT’s. That’s scary.

  75. Billy_43 Says:

Saying get Jacob Eason in the 2nd round is HOPEFUL at BEST.
There is no guarantee that Jacob Eason is available in the 2nd.

Basing any plan around that would be foolish.

Maybe you give away draft picks and move up, but we aren’t in position to do that with all the needs we have on both lines.

Franchise Tag for Jameis is still the best business decision at his age.

Bridgewater already tore his ACL once.
Philip Rivers is a stop gap and this Franchise has already let future Super Bowl winners go far too much.

The grass isn’t greener on the other side people!!!

  76. Buccernutter Says:

    TOM

ARE YOU OUTSIDE OF YOUR MIND!??!!? Any half decent qb would have taken the bucs to the playoffs?!?!? We had the 32 pass defense most the season and a bottom 5 run game and a kicker who imploded at the end of the year even when the defense improved.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH SOME OF YOU PEOPLE?! I have never seen such dumb comments about football in my life as I do on this site from you posters. You have no football IQ at all but the strongest opinions.

SMH I was born into the dumbest fan base in sports and unfortunately I don’t know if we as a whole deserve another ring cuz the majority is clueless and doesn’t even watch games.

Shout out to the real ones though.

  77. AwShbucs Says:

    Stpete.

Mahomes also had 2 additional luxuries you fail to recognize.

One of course being that Andy Reid is indisputably one of the finest coaches and offensive minds of this or any generation of football.

The second and far more important, is that Mahomes took over a roster that was a Super Bowl contender with him on the bench.

Where as Jameis Winston took over a roster that was the absolute worst in football at the time. And has them on the cusp of the playoffs 2 years in. Also, despite that, he threw for 4,000+ yards and 20+ touchdowns his 1st 2 years. So he wasnt exactly inept early on.

  78. ATrain Says:

    Ok let’s put INT aside

Will 5000 yards get up to the playoffs. NO this year showed up that

Is Winston’s only problem Turnovers. No

Watch and rewatch a game focus on his throws—behind receivers many times
Doesn’t See the field stares down the receivers
Doesn’t seem to read the defense

His throws are very wobbly most of the time

Be true to the team and watch his play

Too many fans love this guy BUT his play is not that good

Yes he has a strong arm
Yes his coach lets him sling it all over the field
    Yes he has GREAT RECEIVERS

    LOOK AT THE FACTS
    WINSTON IS AVERAGE AT BEST

  79. SteveK Says:

    AwShBucs,

How many Super Bowls does Andy Reid have?

Please don’t make excuses. They stink.

  80. T REX Says:

npuppy: What QB has left here and had a huge career in the LAST 25 YEARS? Dilfer? LOL. Please. He’s the only starting QB to get released after a SB win so don’t be stupid.

  81. Cgmaster27 Says:

Im gonna be laughung at all you anti jameis crowd when blain gabbert is throwing 5 yard out routes for the bucs next year. Then youll have something new to complain about.

  82. Cgmaster27 Says:

@jeagan you know what the 4 teams left have in common? All have a strong running game. You all like to stick to turnovers like its the only gactor and its not.

  83. Couch Fan Says:

    @Jeagen

Yep, the 7 WORST Turnover Diff teams this year. None made the playoffs.

Starting to see the picture here???? Turnovers LOSE games!!!!
    ———–

Thank you for the facts. Unfortunately the fan boys have stated they dont care about facts, turnovers, wins or anything else meaningful. All they care about is 5k Yards, 30 TDs and swinging from Jabooboo’s manhood.

  84. Couch Fan Says:

    @SteveK

Come on now. Thats just silly. Winning a super bowl would be great. But Reid ALWAYS has his teams in the playoffs, always. I would give both legs for the Bucs to be able to say that.

  85. Lavonte 1of1 Says:

Who? …J.C. Cornell? Who the heck is that?

So yeah, this is a credible source? The founder of a blog is predicting Buc futures? More like *clickbait*

Has Jason Licht been fired yet? Then I think this boogeyman (Cornell) is full of s.

  86. AwShbucs Says:

    @SteveK

Ok… so by that same logic, Dan Marino was a lousy Quarterback because he never won a Super Bowl.

  87. Clean House Says:

BA is a self titled whisperer who has won nothing but a popularity contest. He’ll take the excuse before the bad press of the truth

  88. Jeebs the Honey Bear Says:

Joe, the majority of Bucs fans disagree with you. Winston is who he is: inconsistent, inefficient, turnover machine. 25th in DVOA (we know you do not believe in advanced metrics, but yes they are real and yes they tell a real story). Giving him the money he wants will RUIN this team. We need the $$$ to keep the D together and address other weaknesses. Get a game manager who doesn’t give the other team a bunch of points and this team will make the playoffs. I’m all aboard the Teddy B train, but I’m open to others (or a rookie) as well. Winston eats L’s, Joe, stop being delusional.

  89. T REX Says:

awshbucs: Cusp? You whackos really are delusioNOLE. Cusp? LOL. Get the heck outta here.

  90. crazyBucs_CL Says:

    @J.C. Cornell
    ———————-
how accurate is this guy on his predictions ???? we don’t know….but still is the only news that make us happy….. even we know is not going to happen…
    It feel GREAT.

    BA = LovieS 2.0

  91. Joe in Michigan Says:

I see where Jordan Love is rated a 3rd to 5th round prospect by one website: http://walterfootball.com/draft2020QB.php

  92. AwShbucs Says:

Trex, do you know what cusp means? If you read my post again, I said 2 years into Winston’s career he had us on the cusp of the playoffs. Which is absolutely true. We went 9-7 and missed the playoffs due to tiebreakers.

    Do you not remember that?

  93. ATrain Says:

    Awshbucs

    Are you kidding me
You compare Mahomes and Winston saying Mahomes has everything

WINSTON HAS THE GREATEST TWO RECEIVERS IN NFL right now
Great TEs if he can get the ball to them

Haha Mahomes over cane a 24 point Deficit without throwing pick 6s all over the place

Mahomes should never be mentioned in the same post with Winston

  94. SteveK Says:

    AwShBucs,

Marino is a stud. Went to a super bowl as a rookie and never went back. Kind of reminds me of Cap ripken Jr. Ripken went to the WS as a rookie in ‘83 and won it. Never went back.

I believe that Andy Reid is a great coach, but I hate when ppl make excuses for Jameis. You all make Jameis sound like a game manager. He’s a #1 overall pick.

  95. unbelievable Says:

    I’d honestly be pretty surprised.

I just don’t’ see who they would replace him with that has more upside.

Then again, the Glazer children are always making the absolute worst football decisions, so I guess this would surprise me after all.

  96. Ndog Says:

Please let him leave at this point I want him gone as well just to shut all you freaking morons up.

But you better believe the expectations for the next QB will be a top 3 scoring offense and under 20 total TOs. Anything other than that will be a complete and utter failure.

  97. AwShbucs Says:

Well Steve, I suppose that’s a difference between you and me. I dont see it as making excuses. I see it as stating a fact.

Jameis was the #1 overall pick, and was drafted to what was at the time the worst team in the league. That’s a fact.

Patrick Mahomes was drafted to a perennial playoff contender that was then and SB contender with him on the Bench. That’s a fact.

Maybe you hold the deeply flawed belief that QBs should single handedly be able to overcome a roster rife with deficiencies, mismanagement, and poor coaching, but I dont.

Right now, everyone is drooling over Joe Burrow. And rightfully so, he’s an outstanding prospect. But I’m telling you right now, he, nor any QB for that matter, is good enough to turn the Bengals around by himself.

  98. AwShbucs Says:

    Isnt* good enough.

  99. Pit of Misery Says:

All good points – counterpoints. All I keep seeing is the dejected faces of our D after JW3 threw ANOTHER pick 6 in OT. To me, it signals His ballin’ failed his teammates yet again and the dejected body language of his teammates.

  100. SteveK Says:

    AwShBucs,

Fair enough, but how many times do NFC south Teams go
From worst to first? 5 years and no playoffs- 4 times a losing record.

I just don’t see the team, or any team, overcoming all of the turnovers. It’s just too much bad and it outweighs the good. If it didn’t, we’d won more. But, we haven’t- so we must own that.

  101. SteveK Says:

Why didn’t Jameis come out after the last game and say “ I need to be betrer”?

We get, “I’m balling. Check your sheet”. 7-9, and the QB sucked the last two games to cement a losing record.

  102. AwShbucs Says:

I completely disagree. I think the Jameis’ good far outweighs the bad.

Btw technically we’d be going from 3rd to first.

  103. SteveK Says:

    AwShBucs,

Jameis had 35 turnovers and 34 TDs. We were 7-9. Biggest contributor to the losses is the turnover differential- Jameis himself pissed away our post season chances with recklessness.

  104. SteveK Says:

More turnovers than touchdowns is terrible. A 2:1 TD:Turnover Ratio is a must in today’s game.

  105. MTM Says:

I sure hope this is true. I can’t watch another season of this clown. College quarterbacks look far more impressive than Winston. The Bucs scouts and GM are imbeciles.

  106. c-spann Says:

I am a JW supporter, but I love the Bucs. So I think it is best that bucs and JW part ways. We can draft Eason in the second round and fortify the trenches with the reset of the draft and bring in Kareem Hunt as the led back on a prove it deal.

  107. Rodney Munch Says:

Kewl story bro, thanks for sharing.

  108. jjbucfan Says:

Jacob Eason is the next coming of Ryan Leaf. He plays in a gimmicky offense in PAC 12 where no defense has been played for > 20 years. Please stop with your stupid crap. if you’re going to replace a 5000 yard passer, please come up with someone like Tissue Paper Tua or Jalen Hurts or someone with better mobility because if you draft a QB in the first round, that means you didn’t draft O-line. Everyone knows Licht isn’t drafting O-line in the second because he needs to scratch his DB itch. We also need a RB, edge rusher, DT, S, slot WR/KR/PR, LB and don’t forget how Matt Gay ended so a kicker may be in play for Licht as well. Jameis will be our QB- so just stop it. Our defense was the worst for 10-11 games last year. They improved greatly in the last 5-6 but still struggled against the pass.

  109. Losing hope Says:

    To that news I say…. THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U…..
To Joe I say……. SUCK IT SUCK IT SUCK IT SUCK IT SUCK IT SUCK IT SUCK IT SUCK IT SUCK IT SUCK IT SUCK IT SUCK IT SUCK IT SUCK IT SUCK IT SUCK IT SUCK IT

  110. JWDS INFECTED BUCS FAN Says:

I hope JC Cornell is right and the Bucs dump LOSERS like Jaymiss and Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and especially LaVonte David who has more losses than any Buc in his career, and replaces them with winners like Blake Bortles and Julian Edelman and Chase Winovich!

However, JC has a track record of being WRONG as last summer he said the Bucs would make plenty of splash moves in free agency … they didn’t make any.

What is the Jameis 1of1 book guy saying? Is he agreeing with JC? I hate his book but I know he knows his stuff when it comes to Jaymiss!

  111. Seth Fair Says:

The answer to both of Me Reality’s questions in an earlier comment is both.

Of those QBs you listed, I’d trust Winston the most to win you the game. I’d also think Winton would be the one to throw the INT.

The others would turn the ball over on downs after taking a big sack on 3rd and 6.

Of the available QBs, James is the only QB I believe capable of carrying an offense.

  112. Buccernutter Says:

    Tmax

It’s official. I can’t respect opinion’s of those who can’t spell LOSE correctly, so I will now be scanning past anything you say.

IMO WE NEED TO KEEP JPP OVER SHAQ. I love shaq but I sincerely believe with Vea and another hog next to him, most edge rushers will do better. I mean JPP balled out the last few games when fully healthy and football shape. I think he would have gotten close to shaq if he played all year if not more. I do hope we keep both though.
