No Longer The Leader

December 23rd, 2019

Second-best.

Entering this weekend’s games, Bucs outside linebacker Shaq Barrett led the NFL in sacks.

That is now past tense.

The free agent to be is now the No. 2 guy in sacks in the NFL as the No. 2 guy entering the weekend went nuts yesterday.

In a stunning upset, the bottom-dwelling Cardinals went to Seattle and pounded the playoff-bound Seahawks 27-13. Chandler Jones, the Cardinals’ sack-friendly outside linebacker, went off, sacking elusive Russell Wilson four times.

Jones now leads the NFL with 19 sacks. Barrett, who is headed to his first Pro Bowl, has 16.5.

Barrett just needs a half-sack Sunday in the season finale against the Dixie Chicks to break the Bucs franchise record for sacks he currently shares with Warren Sapp.

Matt Ryan is a statue he should at least get to pop him once or twice.

  2. BucsminsterFuller Says:

Expect Barrett to be offsides alot on Sunday.

  3. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

At least the price of both Winston and Barrett went down after last weekend? :/

  4. Tbbucs3 Says:

We should sub Shaq Barrett in on offense so he can tackle whoever picks Jameis off.

    c.jones playing out his mind….lol…

we need to re-sign shaq, jpp, nassib, suh and gholston…

then draft a pass rushing DT like kinlaw or marlon davidson….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

    Tbbucs3
A genuine LOL from me on that one. Nicely done.

  7. ModHairKen Says:

Limpchimpi is right. The loss cost Shaq and Jameis and preserved a draft spot.

Would have rather had 3 sacks by Shaq, and a flawless game from Jameis and a lower pick. But, you get what you get.

Shaq, re-sign, friend. You go elsewhere for a few more bucks and you may end up anonymous, like in Denver. Here, you’ll be a hero, and get your name on the Ring of Honor. Next to Jameis.

    hahahaah

  9. Buc believer Says:

On the bright that could save the Bucs a little bit of money. Let’s hope he ends up 3rd or 4th that would give the Bucs a really good sackmaster at a lower rate!

  10. zzbuc Says:

    You nailked it BucsminsterFuller!!!

He is going to be a lot offside, as he has been during several games!!!! He played great this year, buy you cant pay a one year production player, just tag him and wait…..Just common sense.
But he had a hell of a season, now doubt about that!

  11. firethecannons Says:

Regardless if he is the leader or not, Bucs have a damn good pass rush now, that was a real black hole before this year. Bucs also have a team of developing yungry cornerbacks. Bucs also had a black hole at right guard that is adequately filled by Alex Cappa who is willing to play under extreme conditions(broke arm). We are rid of losing superhero in his own mind G.McCoy who had an unproductive season. Unfortunately we have a quarterback that shat his pants anytime we are on primetime, truth is real-say it Joe, face it Joe and Jameis lovers, Jameis is never taking Bucs anywhere! Even if he goes out and wins against falcons, he cannot keep it together mentally long enough for a season, a couple int’s acceptable every game with his production but four or more loses the game.

  12. firethecannons Says:

Our cornerbacks never get to play against Jameis, they would have a higher ranking as they would certainly pick up some picks. Jameis makes all other cornerbacks higher ranked. Another negative.

Yea cause that would totally count as a sack, Buc fans get dumber and dumber

  14. Rod Munch Says:

No issues in the least with Shaq, but I really would rather he not break Sapp’s record.

  15. TOM Says:

Not only do I want him to break Sapp’s record, I hope he end’s up #1.

  16. TampaTown Says:

I love Shaq, hope yes here for a long time but I don’t want him to break Sapp’s record. Or anyone else.

  17. Mike Johnson Says:

Barrett and JPP both should get a couple of sacks against the..statue Of Liberty Ryan. Finish 8-8 and give us fans reasons to see a bright TB future.

  18. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Bucnation – the post had nothing to do with getting sacks. Your comment was dumb.

  19. BucsNation08 Says:

74 Bucs Fan – He made that comment on an article that’s all about barrett and sacks, again his comment was dumb and shows how dumb buc fans are

  20. Tbbucs3 Says:

    BucsNation08

    It’s a joke man

  21. Tbbucs3 Says:

“Shows how dumb Buc fans are”

    The irony here

  22. Brandon Says:

This will just make him a little more affordable. Not broken up about it
