“It’s In God’s Hands”

December 29th, 2019

Spirit broken?

The lit torch crowd is out in full force and it seems even Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, knows the end could be near.

Jameis accomplished things this season very few quarterbacks have ever done. He was one of the best quarterbacks in the league in yards, in touchdowns, in first downs, in points. You name it.

And yes, in picks. It is always the picks. It is an obsession for many.

For some, the many massive positives are not enough to outweigh the picks. The fun roller coasters are unwelcome for these folks. And thus, Jameis has become Enemy No. 1 in Tampa Bay to hundreds, likely thousands.

(Joe used to think Jameis was the most hated man in Tampa Bay next to Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht. Now, Joe’s not sure.)

And it seems Jameis knows this and that his future with the team is in peril.

After getting anything but a vote of confidence from Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians after the game — it was the harshest Arians has ever been on Jameis after his pick-six ended the season with a loss in overtime —  Jameis was asked about returning to the Bucs next season.

Jameis is a free agent in a matter of weeks.

“I don’t know,” Jameis said about being a quarterback in Tampa Bay in 2020. “I know I am confident in my abilities. So, I know I am going to ball and I know I am going to fix my mistakes. I know that for a fact.

“But it is in God’s hands.”

That last sentence is usually what people say when they have given up. Could it be that Jameis is just as down about returning to the Bucs as many fans are as well?

Interesting times we live in.

It’s actually not. It’s in the GM’s and coaches hands. Along with the owners of course.I hate when they go to the spiritual route on a question that has nothing to do with it. Maybe it was in God’s hands that he had 30 int is too. Just saying.

  2. thunderchunkyPA Says:

Could they use the transition tag on Winston and see what offer he gets on the open market?

  3. Zzbuc Says:

Why preferring to move on from JW makes me a hater Joe——
Why is so black or white?
I think he has a lot of talent but he turns the ball over to much and I don’t think he is a lob term answer for my team.
    But far from hating!!
    Stop that nonsense joe!!!

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Winston has found a way to get through his press conferences without really ever answering a question directly…..
I don’t question his new-found religious beliefs….there are many players who have strong faiths…..but the answer that just keeps coming is “I’ve just got to get better”…
Unfortunately, it’s been five years and that hasn’t happened.

  5. Steven007 Says:

Thunder, they actually can. That would be an interesting route to take. We could match any offer and if he doesn’t get an offer we sign up for the average of the top 10 QBs instead of top five. And if he does get signed after a tag we get two first-round picks.

  6. Wesley Says:

God clearly isn’t a Bucs fan, bye Jameis.

  7. c-spann Says:

I like JW, but enough is enough at this point. We got to let him walk. We need to go after Joe Burrow. Trade a 1st and 3rd and a 1st from next year and OJ for the number 1 pick!

  8. H8JWLveBucs Says:

Come on people 5 seasons what else do you need I mean damn.

  9. Alanbucsfan Says:

The positives are not enough to outweigh the LOSING.
He is NOT a Winning QB.
I thought maybe with the winning streak he might have turned the corner.
Just a teaser… some team will buy the tease because of all the positives-
I hope it’s not the Bucs-
I don’t trust him anymore to win ballgames.

  10. Couch Fan Says:

To many turnovers = loses. Historical fact. Being exciting is absolutely useless if you lose more than you win. Period. I rather be boring and WIN. That should be the goal. Exciting is just an added bonus.

  11. Adrnagy Says:

If this is god being mad at the Bucs I’ll hate to see him pissed.

  12. thunderchunkyPA Says:

SO many “ifs”.Can you build a winner around so many?

  13. Hodad Says:

Jameis missed Gods hands with the ball, and it was picked off by Satan.

  14. BrianBucs Says:

This Bucs team is much too talented to keep a QB who keeps giving games away and who hands out turnovers like they’re old leftover Halloween candy or a game of Hot Potato.
We’ve all heard 5 years now of Winston excuses and that is long enough.
Time for the Bucs to move on from Winston and have somebody else under center in 2020.
Winston is just not a true NFL franchise QB

  15. Sports Guru Says:

Only a heathen finds fault in such remarks.

  16. thunderchunkyPA Says:

I am tired of the Peyton Manning comparison. He went 13-3, 10-6, 12-4 2 years in a row. After is 3-13 rookie year and a 6-10 season sandwiched in between, he WON games. If you want to look at his int’s fine, but the man won games.

  17. BigPoppaBuc Says:

Another rollercoaster season with Winston. Eight weeks ago I was ready to cut him loose. Three weeks ago I was ready to sign him long term. Now I have no idea…
That pick six today was the movie st predictable pick six ever. I literally KNEW it was going to happen. That’s a bad, bad sign and I think BA and Jason Licht need to take the rest of the locker room into account. Screw us fans. How does this TEAM feel about Winston? Do they believe in him? Will they stick with him through the extremely boneheaded plays? My gut tells me no. I don’t see a ton of players coming to bat for JW and this team is getting better. Eventually when the rest of the team plays better and more consistently than the QB, things get ugly. My heart wants Winston to return and play good clean football for a much improved team, but my head says that’s not going to be the case.

  18. Adrnagy Says:

i don’t think jameis will give a discount to Bucs. he’s very confident on his ability to be great and eliminate mistakes. You still offer 26-28m

Somebody needs to slap the s** out of all this bucs players face. To many dummy mistakes.

  19. Miketb19 Says:

All the Jameis lovers on here just ask yourselves if the Bucs don’t resign does anyone actually think he’s going to get started money anywheres else I don’t think so that answers all your questions right there. There’s not a team in this league who would pay a guy who just set the interception record for the last 35 years 27-30 mil a year there’s no way. So if no other team would do it why should we have to

  20. SilverBuc Says:

Jameis probably sees the light at the end of this hateful tunnel that is the Tampa fan base.

  21. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Jameis it was in your hands but you blew it

Only a moron leaves their fate in the hands of a fictitious diety

  22. NPRSageBoy. Says:

I hope he’s a merciful God, otherwise it’s gonna be very warm where JayMiss is headed and I don’t mean Miami.

    Peace, out

  23. Nate Says:

Unfortunately jameis ran back in there when he was hurt after Griffin to what???
Prove he was better ..in turn we only seen the inevitable

And we dont have a top pick cuz he beat up on those garbage teams

Licht needs to keep him BUT leverage what you can for a bad teams 2nd round pick

Ammunition for Fields or Lawrence next draft

  24. stpetebucsfan Says:

Joe Burrow grew up 2 1/2 hours east of Cincinnati. His father was a football Coach at Ohio U in Athens.

His Heisman speech was instrumental in raising a half million bucks for his old hometown in Athens.

Burrow is ALREADY a hero in Cincinnati. The Bengals will not let him go…even for multiple picks.

Sucks for us…I agree…but at least my old hometown and family members are going to benefit. It’s great for the Bengals.

LUV had a great idea. Franchise JW and then trade him to the Dolphins for their top two picks. Could be a win…win…win..good for JW too. And if we had a boat load of picks we could truly start building this TEAM.

I have a lot of respect for these guys but how many are truly great….Trent Dilfer…Brad Johnson…Joe Flacco…all SB winners.

Those three QB’s had one thing in common…great defense. So lets get the Dolphins pick and turn this rapidly improving D into a great D and find a caretaker professional QB to get the ball into our many playmakers hands…ME..Godwin..now Perriman…OJ…ROJO

  25. Miller5252 Says:

I was really surprised by Winstons post game conference. He sure doesn’t lack confidence in his ability. It would be great to see him win games in Tampa but there’s been too many problems since he’s been here. It’ll be an interesting off season to see how BA plans on keeping his promise on the Bucs beating the Bucs.

  26. Ed Says:

Jameis, leave this place you are a victim of the “Doug William Curse” You are not the first and you dam well will not be the last. Go win a super bowl with New England. In two more years they will be running another Quarterback out of town. History has shown us what to expect.

  27. Gettinthebucs Says:

I’d like to see him get another year in the offense but my gut is telling me the glazers are done. They are going to look at the poll JBF puts up this week and my guess is most people will be in favor of letting Jameis walk. Sad. The talent is there dude just cant stop turning the ball over.

  28. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Wondering how many millions of dollars Jaymiss lost the last 2 weeks. 6 INTs and two pick 6s.

  29. ElioT Says:

He knows “for a fact” he’s going to fix his mistakes.

Well that’s a relief, I was worried for a minute (five years).

    $30 million it is!!!!

  30. #1bucfan Says:

Can’t deny that Winston does have talent an lots of it. Those stats tho don’t mean anything tho joe. Not wen we aren’t watching our team in the playoffs. So what you get bragging rights for most passing yards points an tds but if your not in the post season what’s to brag about. So what if he’s balling. Tru ballers ball in the post season an bring home the Lombardi trophy. Just ask Tom Brady. You think he cares about his stats during the season. No he cares about what he does in the post season.

  31. Couch Fan Says:

Its funny to me that Winston D riders keep mentioning New England. The simple fact you think a #1 draft pick needs to go sit behind Brady proves that you know beyond a shadow of a doubt Winston has issues and he needs to sit and learn behind a HOF QB. And that is probably exactly what he needs because right now, he is terrible.

  32. Jimbobasbuc Says:

The question that must be asked is whether other average QBs in the NFL could put up Jameis numbers if they were allowed to throw 30 INTs and keep their job. I believe many QBs could and that means Jameis is not special and is done with the Bucs

  33. ElioT Says:

The whole Jameis experience is very similar to dating an incredibly gorgeous woman who you love ******* and when times are good, they’re very good.

But, she’s also a crazy b**** who you can’t have an intelligent conversation with, introduce her to your family or god forbid, ever have a drink with.

    The highs are great…

    The lows are WW18!

  34. Ndog Says:

Why is it the New England fans get everything to go there way. Enjoy the good life next year in New England Jameis.

  35. DoooshLaRue Says:

Oh JayMiss, if there actually was a God then he was a CB and you stared your receiver down……… so yeah….. then it was in God’s hands…

All the way to the house for a PICK 6!!!!!

Take your BS down the road loser.

  36. Buczilla Says:

Geez, he’s coming back next year. I’m not thrilled with it, but it’s gotta be done (kinda like when I have to wash the dishes). As long as we get a decent vet and draft a rookie, I think that my blood pressure should stay decent next year.

  37. Jameishas2go Says:

So there seems to be a this strain of thought that people want to move on from Jameis because of hate for Jameis. I am sure there is some of that and if you want him gone because you hate Jameis then you are part of the problem for what could be seen as a toxic strain within the Bucs fanbase.

But that can’t be applied to all fan’s making a critique of America’s QB, the Pro Bowler. The 30-30 man.

The reality is simply this. Tampa Bay has had 6 quarterbacks selected in the first round in team history. They are as follows, Doug Williams, Steve Young, Vinny Testaverde, Trent Dilfer, Josh Freeman, Jameis Winston.

Based on pure talent, the only QB he is better than is Dilfer. Everyone else on this list was more talented then him.

Yet, he has more talent at wide receiver, tight end and O-line than any of those gentlemen, especially Testaverde and Young. The game is different when then the first 4 QB’s started as far as pass defense was concerned, it is considerably easier to throw today then it was then.

Yet, he still throws INT’s. You cannot have 35 turnovers per year from your QB. This is not the 60, 70’s, 80’s, where everyone turns the ball over. If you cannot protect the football your team cannot win.

I feel bad for Jameis actually because I feel next to Doug Williams, he works harder than any of the other QB’s on that list( Steve Young didn’t really have a shot here). He never rests on his laurels and if life was fair he would be an MVP candidate. HE BUST HIS ASS TO BE GREAT AND I LOVE THAT ABOUT JAMEIS WINSTON! BUT,

If you are missing those special attribute needed to be great, you will fail more than you succeed. Because you are chasing what you THINK you need to do to be great, instead of DOING what you need to be great without OVERTHINKING.
Here are his deficiencies as I see them:

Jameis in inaccurate from series to series, let alone game to game.

Jameis pre snap reads are inconsistent at best for someone with as much experience as he has.

Post snap, he seems to forget his keys and misses open receivers consistently and throws eractly which leads to overthrows and one hops at best, and interceptions at worst.

His pocket awareness, and inability to get rid of the ball to avoid drive killing sacks and penalties has only improved marginally in 5 years.

We have to face facts. He is not our Franchise QB. He never will be. If this team is to take a step forward, we need a new QB to lead us going forward.

This is a stone cold football evaluation of a player that has not developed like he should have by this point. And for that I feel bad for Jameis and us, because it is another 5 years down the drain.

  38. Miketb19 Says:

That post game conference was a little boy begging for another shot but he had 5 seasons to clean his S*** up and he blew it. I don’t say that kindly I wish to god that he had fixed these problems but he didn’t. That’s what I hate about Jameis lovers the most they all act this is how we wanted to see it end. No we wanted Jameis to play like he was the first pick in the draft like the guy that was finally going to take us to promise land. He had his chances to do that and he blew it. And I ask everyone here again is there another team in this league that will pay a guy 27 mil a year after this I personally don’t think so and if that’s the case why are we obligated some how to give this guy another chance after being a total turnover machine for 5 years. Time to start fresh and save that cap space for guys who actually earned there money like Godwin, Barrett, Lavonte, Nassib,JPP those are the guys who played there ass off to get new deals

  39. ElioT Says:

    Ndog:

Brady just threw his first pick-six in over two years.

We all know how many Jameis has thrown this year alone.

What the heck makes you think the Patriots would want or PAY Jameis at all?

  40. Justafan Says:

Jameis is the best thing many of you have in your life, you get to go on Twitter hate him. But if he isn’t re-signed, you aren’t going to have anyone to hate, and this site isn’t going to have an automatic traffic booster. Doug Williams was just fine after Tampa, and so was Steve Young, i suspect that Jameis will go to a team like Chargers and be just fine.

  41. Adrnagy Says:

    That’s one long *** paragraph.

  42. Little Bo Peep 🤡❗️ Says:

Too Bad Joe. You been comparing Jameis Winston with Payton Manning, The Greatest QB of all time for over 5 years❗️And now, just like the fake news media hating President Trump, you have been exposed as a fraud. Why anyone type such silliness. The archives are accessible here for anyone to view. –Joe

❗️You think Bruce Arians gonna deal with this GUTLESS DOG IN 2020🤡❓Bye Bye NDOG ❗️Arians will put his money and coaching legacy on A REAL
WINNING QB WHO NEVER TURNS OVER THE FOOTBALL IN TEDDY BRIDGEWATER ❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️YOU THINK WINSTON AND HIS MOUTHPIECE THINK ANY NFL TEAM WILL PAY HIM 💲30-35 MILLION A YEAR ❓WINSTON IS FIRED, JUST LIKE WHITE TRASH FREDDIE KITCHENS JUST GOT FIRED TONIGHT AS HEAD COACH OF THE CLEVELAND CLOWNS 🤡❗️THE GREAT IRA KAUFMAN KNOWS LITTLE BO PEEP IS THE TRUTH ❗️

  43. Tampabuscsbro Says:

JoeJameisfan doesn’t understand how bad picks are. to him they may as well be in complete passes. I really don’t understand how you are a team reporter that doesn’t understand how detrimental 30 interceptions are over the course of a season to a teams record.

  44. Anglican Says:

“IN GOD’S HANDS”? You freaking idiot, God could care less about who plays or wins in football!

  45. Ndog Says:

No Couch Brady is done Jameis will just pick up where Brady leaves off.

  46. ElioT Says:

    @Justafan

We always find someone to hate! Lol

    It’s a Bucs Life baby!

I personally don’t care anymore. Sign him, don’t sign him, sell the team… whatever. It’s truly exhausting.

I used to get depressed about the season ending, now I welcome it. 17 weeks of torture is over for now.

In terms of the 2020 Most Hated Buccaneer:
Get ready Mr. Howard, you’re on deck, and you DID NOTHING this season… Nothing!

Step your game up big boy.

  47. Mr. Reality Says:

Yeah, he got all religious and pious after the FSU accusations and Uber accusations started too. Typical loser is Winston. Makes any real Bucs fan sick to see.

  48. ModHairKen Says:

Licht is God? What a disappointment. Dude can’t even pick a kicker.

  49. T REX Says:

If you are cheering for Jameis to do well somewhere else you are NOT a Buc fan. You are some loser fake Winston nut hugger and we don’t need you. You’re a fake fan or fsu honk loser. I am so sick of you pieces of trash. I cannot wait until we unload all these fake fans that are “Winston” fans first and bucs fans second.

    You’re a bunch of trash.

  50. Ndog Says:

Jameishas2go so you think Dilfer was more talented than Jameis? OMG you are hopeless.

  51. ElioT Says:

Yep, Jameis will pick up where Brady leaves off… sure.

Jameis goes to NE and his turnovers are immediately cured with less weapons and a coach who had zero tolerance for that crap.

    NDog, are you okay?

Disclaimer: I actually want Jameis in 2020. Just not at $30mil.

  52. T REX Says:

ndog, go be a Patriots fan then you PUNK!

Yeah, you are a straight up punk.

  53. Tampabuscsbro Says:

Ndog….bro are you good man? you actually think Belicheck will accept his turnovers?

  54. Jameishas2go Says:

    @Ndog, please read again
Based on pure talent, the only QB he is better than is Dilfer. Everyone else on this list was more talented then him.

I will grant you misread that.

  55. chris L Says:

Joe – you really hate on people who have valid opinions this guy isnt a winner with these picks. nobody likes roller coasters not even you so why is that an excuse. because he is entertaining we should keep him? we want superbowls. not turnovers or the most passing yards in the league. like your boy raheem morris said: stats are for losers. he isnt winning and throws games away.

  56. Ricordo Says:

I just spoke with God and He says that He would not touch that with a 10-foot pole. Unless someone deflects it.

He also said that it’s time to bridge the waters. Or part the sea again.

  57. Couch Fan Says:

    @jameishas2go

Thats a great non bias opinion looking at all angles of his career with Tampa so far. Much respect

  58. Jameishas2go Says:

    @Ndog
So Doug Williams, Steve Young, Vinny Testaverde, Josh Freeman were more talented than Jameis.

I don’t think that is debatable.

  59. Jameishas2go Says:

But to the talent point, it doesn’t mean Jameis is not talented, he is but he is missing those leadership attributes and in game attributes that you need to be a winner at this level.

  60. Jameishas2go Says:

    @Couch Fan
    thanks for the kind words

  61. Bill Gootee Says:

“For some, the many massive positives are not enough to outweigh the picks. The fun roller coasters are unwelcome for these folks. And thus, Jameis has become Enemy No. 1 in Tampa Bay to hundreds, likely thousands.“

You have got to be kidding me!! What is there to figure out? Jamies is responsible for 6 losses this season and many others in seasons past. Why can’t Joe understand that wins are the only “positive” that matters? Geez. Freakin ridiculous.

  62. Jameishas2go Says:

    @Bill Gootee
To your point, I think you are right. But if Jameis was Brett Farve and we had signature wins that endear Jameis to us that would be one thing. But his record is what it says it is.

    28-42 over 5 seasons.

  63. Adrnagy Says:

Jameis is the biggest dingleberry in the nfl.

  64. stevbobucfan Says:

you know weather Jameis is here or not next season I see a winning attitude in this team which I hope transfers over to next season even with 3 missed field goals, Jameis bad decisions multiple penalties yes the Bucs had a lot of bad penalties today. any time you’re on the 5 yard line and end up on something like the 28 yard line this could be a momentum killer but the Bucs defense still hung in there only giving up field goasl so I am confident Arians is gonna do whatever it take to get this team to the playoffs with or with out Jameis

  65. Ndog Says:

Jameishas2go we will see but one thing is for sure if he keeps playing he is going to blow all then away when it comes to stats from a historical perspective.

  66. crasey Says:

He’ll never be great, wherever he plays, until he cares as much about ball security and good decisions as he does about racking up 5000 yards. Whatever team he’s on is always going to have to play well enough to overcome his inexplicable mistakes because he doesn’t really care enough about them to do it himself.

  67. JimmyJack Says:

Jameishas2go…..Good point about the signature wins. Rams win feels like ages ago.

With the way our defense has played lately it really felt like the team was coming together. Maybe not signature but I do think wins would have meant a lot. Especially for the psyche for fans. Both games he had the ball in his hands and both times choked……That’s massive damage in mine opinion. Any confidence one could have that he could genuinely lead this team is basically ruined.

  68. Troy Says:

This team cannot survive another year of spotting opponents points to start games. After 5 years, you are what your record says you are – a loser who turns the ball over. You wanna see how a winner plays? Go put the tape on of Rodgers today against Detroit. I hate that dude, but when the game was on the line, he led his team down the field for the game winning field goal. Wanna see how a loser plays? Put on the tape of the Tampa game from today and watch Winston choke when the pressure’s on, stare down his TE and throw another pick 6 to single-handedly lose the game.

  69. JimmyJack Says:

^^^speaking on last two games. Texans/Falcons

  70. Greg Says:

I think he’s done and I’ll explain why. If you watch that last interception, MAYBE that ball gets tipped… But if it did it didn’t matter. Jameis started down that receiver and forced the ball. Arians will see that. When you have someone making excuses in their own mind for habits they can’t break… They say all the right things but they will never change. He’s like a drug addict in that way. They know damn well what they should be doing. They just can’t change it.

  71. Jameishas2go Says:

    @NDog
I noticed you didn’t dispute that Jameis, was more talented then the 4 QB’s I mentioned. That tells me a lot about how you view those QB’s talent.

That being said, I want Jameis to be successful, but I think at this point, it is not going to happen. Especially here. He may put up numbers some place else but doesn’t mean he will be a winner. And when it comes right down to it, that is the bottom line in this business of pro football.

  72. Tampabaybucfan Says:

You did not quote Jameis accurately, Joe…….here was his exact comment:

“It’s in God’s hands and it’s in their hands”

To leave out the last part of the sentence is misleading and I question why you would do that.

At least you should acknowledge the “omission”

  73. WestChap Says:

There are no Patriots (players, fans, Bill) clamoring for Jameis. He wouldn’t last a full season much less a career in New England as Bill will not tolerate anyone who turns the ball over so much.

  74. Buc4evr Says:

Jameis has no future in Tampa Bay. Face it fellas the guy is a total loser. He did it to himself and sealed the deal today. He is as good as gone. No more bs excuses from Jameis, the Glazers will burn it to the ground. (Again… lol).

  75. ElioT Says:

Arians is probably totally comfortable with how the season went.

He inherited Jameis and gave him all the support and leash a QB could ever ask for; he had to do that, there was no other way.

Jameis basically set equal records for greatness and futility this year. A lot of it washes out especially when you end up 7-9 and you could have been 10-6 with a few less blunders.

Next year will be different if Jameis is back, then it’s totally on Arians what happens with the QB and this team.

**On the plus side, I don’t think BA totally screwed any in game management calls today right?

  76. PhillyBuc Says:

Last I checked throwing for 5000 yards does not guarantee the playoffs. Consistently throwing to the other team does land you at best, 7-9. Chalk me up as a fan that cannot live with the mistakes.

  77. Adrnagy Says:

I really want to upgrade special team on kick/punt returner and blocking

  78. Figures Says:

    @ndog

Lmao hahahahahahahahahhaaa what a pathetic POS. Lol. Your boy lost two games in a row with the ball in his hands with a chance to prove his greatness.

And wtf happens? Lmao PICK LOL.

I hope he’s gone and I pray your sorry pathetic pos a$$ goes with him.

  79. WhatdaBUCisthis Says:

I mean damn. I’m exhausted, frustrated and highly disappointed in #3, he blew it again. Yea motion sickness sucks Joe. I’m getting numb now. I’m glad the season is over. I don’t care if he’s gone. If he comes back, I’m root for him. But…
    I mean damn…

  80. Bucs 14 Says:

In a way I feel somewhat sorry for Arians, and Licht as well.

For Arians, you got a qb who threw for over 5k yards this season and had 33 TDs. BUT, that same qb had 30 INT and 7 pick six in one season. I mean c’mon man, what do you do? I would hate to be Arians right now. He has a qb that is the love child of Jeff George. Do you pin your career, and for Arians this has got to be his last rodeo, on a bi-polar qb? I feel for the guy.

For Licht, Winston was your baby, along with your two other miscarries, Aguayo and Gay. What do you do if you are Licht? Same scenario as Arians.

Glaziers? Clueless owners as usual. They want to move the team to London anyways. Another loser makes it easier.

  81. ElioT Says:

    Don’t feel bad for Arians.

He’s sitting pretty tight now and can easily say to anyone he respects:

“Look what o had to deal with, I love the kid he just can’t stop gifting the ball to the other team. And our kicker…”

There is a new “smell” to this team, the culture is indeed different/better but two things remain…

1.) Auto Pilot Turnovers from the QB
    2.) Kickers cramping the bed

  82. ElioT Says:

    *crapping

  83. Jeffbuc Says:

Ndog defense balled out what happened with your man crush
Oh he lost another game for us. How many is that just this year. How can you really defend that anymore what was the reason this time to throwing it right to a linebacker. But but but he led the league in passing yards. He can’t be defended anymore. I had to do a Christmas event and recorded the game and was on cell phone silence for that. Ndog what was the reason he threw that lick six. Please let us dumb bucs fans know.

  84. Mike Johnson Says:

jameis..I believe in God. And No, its not in gods hands. The season was in yours.
And after 16 games, I give you like a 60..barely. And that’s not good enough. I hope God waves his wand and helps you get dethroned from being..The Interception King!

  85. VA Tom Says:

    It’s not the PICKS. It’s the W vs L’s

  86. Losing hope Says:

HEY JOE SUCK IT! EVEN YOU SOUND DEFEATED ABOUT AMERICA’S TURNOVER MACHINE. GOOD RIDDANCE….
    I HOPE. FINGERS CROSSED

  87. Posey99 Says:

I was at the game today and it’s amazing how much effort the organization put into having a great fan experience. Then Winston gives the game away and people make all kinds of excuses. We will never fill the seats until the team starts winning consistently. We’ve been blaming everybody but Winston the last 5 years. Time to stop blaming everybody but him.

  88. BUC CHEEKS Says:

Hahaha!!!!! This is so not funny :((((…. I just finished the game on Gamepass… and I called it, prob gonna throw a pick6! I take ZERO pleasure in calling that!!! Ugh, WOW!!!!!!! Barf!!!!!! What a terrible call by BL and JW WOOOOOOOF!!!! Drive the field and it’s a whole different story! That just summed up the season!!! Idk wtf we do now?!!! That hurt. Let the speculation ensue! What a year BA-Humbug. When will the torture end???

Go BUCS in 2020… I’m baffled.

  89. BUC CHEEKS Says:

Oh and our kicker is Gay, not that there’s anything wrong with that… except, HE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

  90. DR FEELGOOD Says:

If I’m not mistaken, 56 of our points allowed this year were from our dumbass QB!!

  91. Pok Says:

“For some, the many massive positives are not enough to outweigh the picks“ Come on, for some? 30 picks and how many pick 6s on the year? For the vast majority of us- it’s exactly that. These aren’t close call picks they are failure to read picks. Horrible throws they get what they deserve. I am not a stat micro-guy but I will put this out there. If any stat-person wants to crunch numbers, here it is: How many yards did Winston throw for if you count the return yards for all 30 of his picks? Could it be #1 of all time? My money on top 3, 1&2 are basically the same. All that shows is how much we gave away this year. The end of the year D was ballin’ -if we had it figured out early on (see year 2 of a quality coaching staff) We would have had the record to sputter a few games: ie the 2019 patriots. Anyway I say this. Rivers would be good. Dalton no way. Not sure about a draft pick at 13-16. Franchise to see if leftwich can teach a read? Don’t know this one is teachable. Otherwise if good options cut the cord. BradyTB2020 would love these receivers. Also lastly because it’s the end of the year: Perriman has been amazing recently. #1 good and I have watched all the receivers since the 70s. Keep that one.

  92. He Hate Jameis Says:

Jameis’s whole career was summed up today. When the going gets tough, Jameis has a brain fart. The guy has mad skills, but doesn’t have the mentality of a winner. Jameis is not good for The team or the fans and it’s time to end this experiment. He needs to be cut or traded ASAP. No more excuses, no new contract, no franchise tag, get rid of the guy. He is a loser.

  93. IrishTony Says:

“How do you evaluate that last throw by Winston?” (pick six). “ He was covered.”

  94. MadMax Says:

Top 20 draft order is set….we’re picking 14th!

With the 14th pick, Buccaneers select QB Jordan Love.

Then we need to move up a little for Jedrick Wills in the 2nd if still there.

Then Safety Kyler Dugger, RB Zakk Moss or Patrick Taylor, C Darryl Williams….dont know 6th or 7th yet.

  95. BrianBucs Says:

    In God’s Hands

Winston had his adventure with the female Uber driver one week after he and his fiance were baptized, so……………………….

  96. MadMax Says:

“going to fix my mistakes”…..yet it seems you never do, you keep making some bone headed throws….2 other int’s almost happened today, underthrown and knocked away by our WR turned defender.

Im ready to move on. You too JW, good luck where you go except when you play us! You’ll prob get 22 mill from someone, just not us.

  97. The Ghost of Leeman Bennett Says:

Winston’s new name on here shall be:

    Ima Bedabest

    From henceforth

  98. The Ghost of Leeman Bennett Says:

A fifth year professional starting QB in the NFL should not have to say the following:

“If I can fix my mistakes…..”

By year 5, there should be no more “if”

  99. Pewter power Says:

Lol that’s what you when you have given up? Hahaha I dont even know how to do anything but laugh about that. That’s what you say when the season is over and there are no more games to play. The test has been handed in and simply is being graded. Hes one of those students who cram at the end of class to avoid summer school, what else could he say if he cant himself the contract he wants

  100. lambchop Says:

    @Ndog,

If Jameis doesn’t have an obscene amount of come-from-behind wins as the greats who have thrown gobs of INTs, Jameis won’t be a starter for very long to shatter any long-standing records.

The Falcons game was set up for Jameis to shut his critics up. He had a running game, he had blocking, he had defense 99% of the game. Yet, he couldn’t will his team to victory because of a bad day in the kicking department.

BTW, you think Perriman is playing good because of Winston? LOL. Did you see the back of the endzone catch? That was all Perriman. He had one arm tied down and fought to reach for the ball and keep his feet down. I mean the guy has blossomed and I think it’s entirely because of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin being in the WR room. He doesn’t have to be the guy and he can learn to be a pro from them. And I’m sure there’s some pride in stepping in place of them to hold down the best position group on this team.

  101. BringBucsBack Says:

Fitzmajic finished the year with only 2 less wins, on a team that has been tanking for the last 20 weeks.

How many QBs have been drafted since #3 that are playing at a pro level?

  102. BigMacAttack Says:

So do you mortgage the draft for Joe Burroughs? And then some? Or do you give Jameis one more season? And do what it takes to draft Trevor Lawrence? I think horrible is a gross understatement for Winston. He needs to go but not without a future replacement who can get the job done. I think Jameis severely lacks maturity. He needs to understand that he’s an important cog in the wheel but it isn’t about him. It’s about the team that he has let down far too many times. Will JPP, Barrett and Suh even want to return to this train wreck. They did their jobs well. Jameis says he will fix his mistakes but his resume says otherwise. Brad Johnson wasn’t a great QB and he won a Super Bowl, because he was smart. The Bucs will sell even fewer tickets next year. It’s a sinking ship and btw, get rid of that stupid pirate boat that only their chosen few get to sink on. And let’s not even get started on the garbage special teams and joke of a kicker.

  103. D-Rome Says:

Joe, it’s not just about the picks. His decision making and vision to recognize plays is terrible. He rarely audibles at the line to change protections, he stares down receivers, and there are many throws that aren’t intercepted that are way off the mark. He is not a consistent enough player to win and you know it. Keep playing coy in your articles but you KNOW what good, winning QB play looks like.

  104. Gator bait Says:

Anyone who had a brain seen a pick 6 coming..

  105. Bigdaddy66 Says:

I love J W and wish he could straighten out his int issues, However, I just watched the niners and Seahawks and if I were the coach of the Bucs and found myself in that kind of game.Could I TRUST my quarter back.to play WINNERS football.?????? #2020 winning football

  106. Gator bait Says:

Am I kiched because I don’t see anything I wrote?

  107. tgregs Says:

“Massive positives?” Aren’t wins the only positives? I rteally do hope that the Bucs sign this idiot loser to a big contract so I can continue laughing and being a Bucs hater for at least a few more years.

  108. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

He’s not a total loser he has his belief in God which you are free to doubt, he is a black QB in the NFL, he gives back to the community, with his time and money and he is a millionaire!

So now who is the loser (Doug Williams had to leave TB and Kwon is getting paid so let’s compare your life)

  109. Defense Rules Says:

The day the season ends on yet another losing note for our Bucs is probably NOT the best day to decide who stays & who goes. Hard to be objective when certain obvious mistakes … 3 missed FGs & 3 giveaways … all occur in a game that we lose in OT. Had we trounced the Texans 40-3 and the Falcons 55-7 to end the season with a 9-7 record & on a 6-game win streak, chances are many MIGHT have felt differently than they do right now. About the Bucs AND about Jameis. But alas, we closed out our season on yet another low note. Two stinging losses in a row … 23-20 and 28-22 in OT. Bummer.

Bucs beat the Texans decisively in almost all the relevant stats, except ONE … TURNOVERS. Our offense gave the ball away FIVE times, to the Texans TWO TOs. Falcons however beat the Bucs decisively in most offensive stats, INCLUDING … TURNOVERS. Our Bucs’ offense came out the winner there, giving the ball away THREE times to the Falcons ONE TO.

Offensive TURNOVERS are usually deadly. Bucs lost FIVE games this season where our offense gave the ball away 3 times or more (49ers, Panthers, Titans, Texans & Falcons). And yet, Bucs won TWO games this year where our offense gave the ball away 3 times or more (Cardinals & Colts games). That is clearly NOT a prescription for a winning season & making the playoffs. TURNOVERS are deadly.

But the bigger reality is that the Bucs’ offense stunk up that game is more ways than JUST TOs. First downs? Falcons 28 to Bucs 14. Third downs? Falcons 7-for-18 (38%) to Bucs 1-for-8 (12%). Penalties? Falcons 5-for-53 yards to Bucs 12-for-97 yards. Time of possession? Falcons 36:22 to Bucs 23:45. And the best of all … Total Plays? Falcons 87 plays (30 rushes, 51 passes, 6 sacks) to Bucs 46 plays (21 rushes, 24 passes, 1 sack).

Our defense held the Falcons to ONE TD through all that, although the Falcons went 5-for-5 on FGs. Our Bucs’ offense scored TWO TDs, but we went 0-for-3 on FG attempts.

The last turnover … a Pick-6 in OT … sealed the deal, but reality is that our offense stunk it up throughout much of the game. And our defense was left to clean up the messes, as usual. Yes our offense has covered a LOT of yards this season (over 6,300) and yes it’s scored a LOT of points (458 now). But it’s made a LOT of messes in accomplishing both of those stats … 41 giveaways for starters, to include 7 Pick-6s. And the end result? 7-9.

I say again, this is NOT a prescription for building a winning team. But there is a decent foundation in here to doing exactly that in 2020. Bucs need to look at the WHOLE PACKAGE, then decide what to keep & what to replace. Both PERFORMANCE and POTENTIAL will factor into that, for ALL our players, not just Jameis. 2020 looks promising, assuming the powers-that-be make the right decisions.

  110. Waco Says:

I don’t know why we keep thinking he will be a winner if we give him another season. This was the season it was going to all come together. We are dumb to think he will be a winner in Tampa next season.

The fans have had it. I’m a season ticket holder who lives in Virginia. I went to the season opener and haven’t been back. Hard to spend travel money on a loser and Winston is a selfish loser. He has tons of stats except for the one that counts…wins.

I hope the Bucs do the fans a favor and move on.

  111. Rod Munch Says:

Go to the NFL stats page, pull it up and take a screen shot.

That’s the first time in team history a Bucs QB has ended the season at the top of the passer list.

Plus as a bonus, Shaq leads sacks as well. I think that’s the first time every that has happened as well – but not 100% on that.]

What an exciting future we have coming up.

  112. Rod Munch Says:

“Waco Says:The fans have had it. I’m a season ticket holder who lives in Virginia. I went to the season opener and haven’t been back.”

So in other words you bought some tickets and then you resell them on ticket sites.

What an amazing fan you are, you really do speak for everything.

  113. Rod Munch Says:

What an amazing year, the first black QB to pass 5,000 yards!

Oh man, what a great angle, lets push the Dems to pass a bill that makes it a hate crime to criticize Jameis! I have those sorry fruits, but it would be the ultimate troll job so count me in.

  114. Rod Munch Says:

Oh and I know, what about Mahomes…

Well just look at him, he’s only like half black, like Obama. That doesn’t count.

  115. thunderchunkyPA Says:

I am SO tired of the ” he will go on to win if you let him walk”. I could care LESS about other teams or players not on the Bucs. FACT, Winston is NOT winning HERE, and that is all I care about.

  116. Bucsfanman Says:

I hate when athletes invoke god. Your future Jameis, has been and always will be, in YOUR hands!
It’s YOUR decisions, and YOUR actions. Football is a GAME!

  117. Ed Says:

First of all, no reason to bring in Jameis’ race, its not welcome on this page, I know most of us who post look at the only color that counts: Pewter.

Not seeing that receivers are covered is a habit that Jameis will never overcome unless he is a backup somewhere and learns patience behind a veteran. He was given the reigns of an offense before he was ready. He needed to sit and learn how to fight his instinct to let the ball loose before checking out the field. The last 2 games we have seen some ridiculously bad turnovers.

Turning the ball over on the other side of the field 10-12 times a year can be expected from mid level quarterbacks. Pick 6’s are usually when you are throwing from your own 20-30 yard line. You have to be careful with the ball.

Winston’s disregard for being careful have led to games being lost in the 4th quarter with defensive touchdowns.

The fanbase has clearly lost confidence in Winston. Arians has to see the big picture and no matter how many yards Winston moves the team, he melts down vs better teams, he is sloppy with the ball. He doesn’t get rid of it fast enough.

Yeah a veteran next year with the team developing a young QB along with upgraded offensive line and RB will get the Bucs on the verge of 10 wins. Jameis had his best season statistically but contributed to some horrific home losses (so did Gay, he doesn’t belong in the NFL) in games the Bucs had to win, Niners, Giants, Panthers and yesterday’s losses were games that his sloppiness lost.

  118. Sharthappens Says:

Let’s all just be glad that the clown show is out of here. His stats are padded due to all of his turnovers that resulted in playing from behind. Check out PFF stats in this loser. He had another 40 times this year in which a ball should have been intercepted or fumble should have been lost that we recovered. FORTY. WOW.

  119. Licht Headed Says:

    am
Buc fans: the most ignorant fan base in the country. Jameis will get minimum $30M, 3 years. Bucs won’t draft a QB with at least first 3 picks. Franchising him means paying close to $40M thereafter. Cutting Winston loose means at least a 4-5 year rebuild and of course he will go on to win a SB with his new team. Arians and Licht will re-sign him.

  120. Defense Rules Says:

Licht Headed … You don’t know ANY of that to be true. Pure speculation. At least identify it as such. (Oh and PS … it doesn’t help your argument to call others ‘ignorant’).

So in other words you bought some tickets and then you resell them on ticket sites.

What an amazing fan you are, you really do speak for everything.

Nope, didn’t sell them. I share the seats with my sister, she was able to take her husband to the games.

My point is that for those of us who are season ticket holders from out of state, there additional expenses and considerations to attending live games. On top of the expense of the section 112 ticket, I also pay for the DirectTv Sunday ticket to watch them for their away games. It costs anywhere from $300 to $500 for me to travel to Florida for game weekend on top of the $1500 for the ticket, plus the lost time with my wife and son. I have been going down for games since retiring from the service. It is hard to justify the added expense (in time and money) when they continually lose at home and the QB gives the game away like he did the last 2 weeks.

So, by your definition, I’m not a good fan. I can live with disappointing you.
