Devin White Gets Rare Honor

December 2nd, 2019

Anoints Bucs defender.

One of the elite watchers and chroniclers of America’s Game has stepped out upon his balcony, lifted his staff in the air and bestowed upon the thousands that beckon his golden words that a Bucs player was one of the best the NFL had to offer Sunday.

And that player is Bucs middle linebacker Devin White.

So it shall be written, so it shall be told that hot dog eating contest-protestingmock draft-scowlingL.L. Bean-wearingSecond Amendment abolitionistMike Florio-arguingparrot-insensitivechewing-with-his-mouth-opensoup-gulpingCalifornia train-romancinganti-football proliferationouthouse-admiringairline-nappingsteerage-flyingYogi Berra-worshipingurinal picture-takingvideo game-playingTaylor Swift-listeningpickpocket-thwartingBucs-uniform-frowningAllie-LaForce-smittenBig-Ten-Network-hatingpedestrian-bumpingolive oil-lappingpopcorn-munchingcoffee-slurpingfried-chicken-eatingoatmeal-lovingcircle-jerking, craft beer-chugging, cricket-watchingscone-loathingcollege football-naïvebaseball-box-score-readingNPR-honkfilthy-hotel-stayingfight-instigatingbarista-trainingBudweiser-tolerantbaseball scorecard-keeping social activist NFL insider Peter King of NBC Sports  has deemed White worthy of one of King’s “Defensive Player of the Week” blessings.

Devin White, linebacker, Tampa Bay. White, in just one quarter at Jacksonville, continued to show the Bucs made a smart pick at number five in the first round last April. The rangy linebacker from LSU snuffed out the first Jaguars drive with an interception of Nick Foles at the Tampa 26, leading to the first TD of the game. Four minutes later, White picked up a strip-sack fumble of Foles and ran 14 yards for a touchdown. Thirteen minutes into the game, Tampa Bay had a commanding 15-0 lead. White had a late end-zone pass break-up to ensure a 28-11 win.

Joe is not trying to get ahead of himself here, drunk with excitement on this sunny, chilly Monday morning.

The Bucs have had elements of the team play well, specifically the front-seven on the defense. But with the defensive rookies seemingly turning the corner led by White, the Bucs have been winning games. Joe doesn’t think that is an accident.

Just how far could the rookie defenders push this team forward this year?

Maybe as far as four more wins?

omg, way to hand out free passes… white was the wrong pick that is undisputed… he will be a solid contributor but will never be an impact player… getting excited over a good game against a bad jags team with almost as much dysfunction as the bucs is laughable. this guy has not been a good pick and never will be. he will be a serviceable player probably stay out of trouble so in bucsfan mind he is hof…. picking up a gift that barrett handed him is more johnny on the spot than a great play but I understand the desperation bucfan feels about not having any great players on the field since sapp left. keep reaching though that dude is not the guy….

joe if bucs are 8-8 or 9-7 will that constitute a Winning Season Pennant in the stadium anda possible a parade down Dale Mabry???? Key to the city to Matt Gay maybe???

i can see it now, school closures, bucs flags everywhere and everyone watching the playoffs from home again!!!!

9-7 most likely get’s BA enshrined into the ring of underachievement with no waiting period… put him right next to that other bum dungy the clown who never won a damn thing

    Devin White…..Savior

  6. JimbobBucsFan Says:

Devin White is not The Savior for this team but he is a contributing savior.

Isn’t it it great being at the end of another losing season and YET seeing all kinds of signs of hope for the future. Culture change and real turnaround is here for this franchise finally!

    Happy holiday season!

“Alot of coaches (LSU coach O)who coached some of the all time greats (linebackers) put their reps out on the line

puts DWhite in the Ray Lewis, Patrick Willis level

very instinctive player which means he is always around the ball ala Ronde Barber”

Even at 9-7 record…we don’t make the playoffs!!! DW is becoming a top tier player on this team, keep bringing in talent and keep grinding, that is all!!

Tmax-I-pad… Kick rocks bro.. You continue to show over and over again you have no knowledge of this game and are nothing more than a troll on this site. Kid is beasting! Deal with it! You’re either a fan or not. I say get lost because you constantly prove you’re not a fan of the Bucs, but a simple minded troll of the Bucs. Next thing you’re gonna say is D.Brooks isn’t one of the ALL-Time greatest 100 players as just voted in by actual football people.. Oh wait…..

  10. Kingfish Says:

What happened to Alex Cappa yesterday ? Did he get hurt? Or was he just pulled for the Earl of Watfurd?

  11. Easy Says:

Hes gonna be a good player for this team and will benefit from having a solid pass rush.

  12. BamaRich Says:

I thought this site was for Bucs Fans. D. White balled out…period. For all the pessimistic Buc fans there are other team sites. Find one!

With every W, realist falls deeper and deeper in his closet….lol…

    Keep hiding chump….

    GO BUCS

  15. Chris K Says:

@BamaRich, agreed, but Maxipad is our designated troll as the Joe’s keep allowing it. It’s kind of funny reading his ignorance though. He’s gonna cry when White has a decade run of pro-bowls and All-pro selections. He’ll probably dig up something along the lines of but but but he only has 8 forced fumbles this season and so and so has 9.. D.White is a beast! Plain and simple! Everyone is seeing it besides the troll who doesn’t want to see it.

  17. ocala Says:

I think the Bucs have a good chance of going 8-8 this year with a lot of momentum heading into next year. The Bucs need one more corner on defense and they need to focus on improving their offensive line and running game this offseason.

  18. Oneilbucs Says:

We are the only fan base that depends on 1 player to win games or championships. That’s why we have been losing for so long it takes a team to win games not a LB or a just a quarterback but a team. As soon as you guys realize that you will be disappointed every year.

  19. Bobby Says:

DW is already impacting games Tmaxipad. I guess you must love looking stupid when you post. Mission accomplished.

  20. Bobby Says:

No Tmaxi….8-8 or 9-7 shows what we wanted under Arians…IMPROVEMENT. We’re going in the right direction. We’ve already won more games than you predicted. Just admit to being wrong. Being ignorant about football isn’t a crime. If it were, there’s a lot of felons that post on this site.

  21. pick6 Says:

as competent watchers of the bucs have known for years, the bucs have been completely undone by historically bad defenses. anytime the defense has showed up for 4 quarters, this team looks genuinely dangerous. this was also evident in that 5 game streak way back in 2016 when their brief moment of defense clarity saw winston and the bucs score some very impressive wins

Improvement is for little leaguers and tee ballers sir…… being happy highly paid athletes are improving is pathetic at best….

    Chris K

meaningless subjective NFL greatest player lists carry as much weight as my yearly lap dance rankings…. although popular at the end of the day they don’t make up for on field failures….

1 ring 5 career playoff wins is not legendary even by the lowest of standards pal…..

Peter King is a doorknob, but he is right on this one.

  24. Jurevicius Circle Says:

A rare honor indeed, and a well-deserved one for DW! It was great watching him make splash plays and shut down his own mentor, L Fournette.

As for the leading anti-Bucs poster on this particular thread, all I can say is that you must be very lost if you hate this team so much that you have to appear here and slander not only Sunday’s defensive star, but also two HOFers who helped lead this franchise to glory.

  25. RODNEY ALLEN Says:

Yeah tmax a int and a fumble recovery for a td definitely isnt an impact at all 🤦‍♂️ come on bro seriously 🤷‍♂️
