What Might Have Been?

November 4th, 2019

“I’ve got it Bruce, don’t sweat.”

Yes, the Bucs pass defense is insulting as can be.

Currently, shockingly, the Bucs have the second-worst pass defense in the NFL. The worst? Chucky’s squad, but not by much.

The Bucs allow 293 yards a game through the air. The Raiders hack up 297 yards.

If the Bucs had only been average, shoot, with how vulnerable the rest of the NFC South is, playoffs could have been a real thing, notes Jelani Scott of NFL.com.

Tampa continues to slip further down the NFC South but, when you consider that this was their fifth one-score loss (four road games) of 2019, it makes you start to wonder what could’ve been.

When the season is over, and coaches and suits in the organization have to turn in their evals, Joe is confident Team Glazer is going to want an answer. And Bucs fans deserve to be informed as well.

Everyone in the building at One Buc Palace had to know the pass defense, the secondary, was horrible. So why was this not addressed before the trade deadline?

The main element that has held this team back from success is the secondary. And while other teams with a better secondary made moves last month to try to get better, the Bucs instead decided to play PlayStation and pretend the secondary would fix itself.

Same ole same ole. You cant win without a defense at least keeping a team under 20 points. I remember the days when you gave me 15 we won. Most of your don’t remember those days because that right you weren’t born. This team needs to straight up punch folks in the mouth!

Why Is it we haven’t organized a group PROTEST yet???
Kind of don’t understand how anyone thinks we will get “Trash” Licht fired 🔥 if we don’t make it public.
    Plz let’s get together

  3. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

Licht hands sown should be fired…simple as that.

Damn Joe Madden got fired for winning the Cubs a World Series after how many years? Just sayin..

  5. MadMax Says:

lol, why do i stick with this bu!!sht

We have a shot at Burrow if we just tank

I told y’all Bowles was garbage. Proved it in NY and yet he arrived to Tampa to thunderous applause.

Luckily next year Andy Dalton will come save the franchise, rotfl, I can’t believe some of y’all actually get paid to say such things.

Even if JayMiss ATM plays a perfect game the offense still needs to score a minimum 40 ppg to win.

Earlier this week I said it’s just too much to overcome, case in point, TDs on 3 straight plays and none of them counted. Miller runs out of bounds, Hudson drops a TD and good ol friend of the show 20 year vet Dotson gets called for a hold on a outstanding individual effort by JayMiss ATM. And that my friends is the story of the TampaBay Buccaneers.

Oh and of course the brilliant fan base including Ronde Barber who just wants to defecate on JayMiss ATM. “The ball just came out of his hands unforced fumble”. Smh, can’t believe some people actually get paid to spout nonsense but here we are in moderation per usual.

yes Licht should of been gone, but like it or not he is still here. Lets hope he hires someone else to pick the drafts.

@DB55 as much as I’m with Mad Max and the TANKATHON crew
I would rather have JW3 over some retread Ginger from Cincinnati.
Jameis is talented and he has found something he lost with the decisive scrambling for 1st downs. It was good to see him run for the Fake TD because of a Fake or real holding call. Who knows what the future holds, but these final games of the season will be huge for evaluating Winston.

All I’m gonna say is this…..

If Jameis is gonna throw Interceptions and Fumble every third week to Lose the game. One good game like this is NOT enough for a Super Bowl run…… NOT IN TODAYS NFL… sorry Brad Johnson days are kind of over. Even though I love Brad.

Bucs really need to draft a QB and guess what???
You can resign Winston to a smaller 1 yr deal if he does well AND STILL DRAFT QB. Then you trade JW if he goes P** P** again. Or if no one wants him you just put in the rookie QB.

It is a pipe dream however…. because Daddy Daycare with
Papa BWUCY BWuce and “TRASH” LICHT will never ever RISK… hurting poor baby’s confidence. We can’t have anyone looking over there shoulder.

Glazers are the worst ownership group

    Burn the Pirate ship and
    FIRE 🔥 LICHT

  10. Bruce Blahak Says:

Was an easy time of it for Wilson yesterday….just find the red sleeves guy and throw it that way….blame it on the defense if you like but the QB still has horrid pocket awareness and holds the ball forever….draft needs: QB-QB-RT-DE

  11. Defense Rules Says:

DB55 … To say that Todd ‘Bowles is garbage’ tells me more about you than it does about TB. Our Secondary is so young & inexperienced that the only way it has a chance is if our pass rush keeps opposing QBs under constant pressure. Ours didn’t do that to Russell Wilson & he picked the Secondary apart.

It wasn’t his short passing that killed us; it was the long bombs. He was deadly accurate on quite a few of those, and our defenders were usually close BUT 1-step behind. Not fast enough? Maybe. Poor technique? Maybe. But it wasn’t Todd Bowles out on that field covering. He tried going heavy blitz & a bunch of man-to-man, but it didn’t work. He’s tried zone; didn’t work. He’s tried going lighter on the blitzing; didn’t work.

When you don’t have the horses, you don’t have the horses. And in the NFL, you’ll get exposed every time. If you don’t believe it, ask Leslie Frazier or even Mike Smith. SOMEBODY above them has no clue how to build a TEAM. Wanna guess who?

Glad to chip in for a fans billboard on Dale Mabry to help our owners see the licht.

  13. Anonymous Says:

The Bucs did no trades because there is no point in giving up something in the future for a team that still lacks playoff hopes now, no matter what. They could have actually dealt players away in return for future picks, but the Glazers do not want to be characterized as quitters in trying to keep an fan base left this year. Right or wrong, that is the thought.

  14. Pewter power Says:

with how vulnerable the rest of the NFC South is

How is the nfc South vulnerable exactly? One win separates Atlanta and the Bucs, with their receivers they could easily beat the Bucs at least once. As usual year by year we are cellar dwellers and I could see it happening again.

  15. Bucsfanman Says:

Inexperienced secondary playing a QB in a career year. What could go wrong?!
This game was the epitome of Buc football: Play just well enough to give fans hope.

  16. The Buc Realist Says:

    Rah 25.25 pts allowed avg
Coach Schaino 24.47 pts allowed avg
incompetent lovie 25.84 pts allowed avg
Coach Smitty 24.97 pts allowed avg
mark duffner 26.45 pts allowed avg
toilet bolwes 31.5 pts allowed avg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty telling Numbers!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It just shows how bad loser lovie was, with the softest schedules, (He had the easiest strength of schedule) And yet on many blowouts, Opponents were killing the clock and calling off the dogs in the third quarter because it was a slaughter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But the simple fact, is that through all these coaches, the defense was not good enough, and does deserve to just be blown up and “forced reboot”!!!!!!!!!!!! There is no core, and no pieces that should be built around!!!!!!!!!! Defenses are remade by getting younger and faster!!!!!!!!!! NOT by patching old part time players!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will revealed answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already knew!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. scot pederson Says:

As bad as our Pass Defense was the Hawks Pass D was just as bad or worse. They are no longer the LOB. Played soft zone for most of the game, on a Red zone play Evans got so open because the 2 DBs both went to cover the outside route and ME13 was freed inside and got to the 1. Rhonde was saying they had no idea who was supposed to cover who.

Then with the Jaymiss slip fumble set up an easy FG for the Hawks. Wilson had to win the game Twice. 1st time was the end of the game FG he had put them in position to win and the Hawks kicker missed.

Then the OT drive with another TD pass.

Bear in mind seattle was already giving up 25 points per game before this shootout so they do not have a stout defense. We got a lot of points on an equally bad D as ours is but the better team won and better QB who had no Turnovers won. And Wilson had more Oline problems than Winston did.

At least no Picks for JW but a couple that were dropped and 1 tip that Perriman caught in the end zone which Rhonde said he got lucky.

Our woes are not over because of these chronic issues.

This one was not solely of Jameis…my individuals had particular single plays that were turning points against the Bucs momentum …I really really feel for Mike Evans…

  19. geno711 Says:

I agree with scot pederson 100 percent.

Those db’s for Seattle were worse than the Buc’s. For this game, the Seattle Offensive line gave up more pressure than the Buc’s O line.

By the way, Seattle has given up more total yards per game than the Buc’s this season. That is a bad defense

Our secondary is slightly better with MJ Stewart inactive. I think Dean and Bunting have a chance to be NFL players. Remember fans gave up on Rojo and Vea at this point of the season last year.

  20. BigMacAttack Says:

The Bucs can’t afford to keep Jameis no matter how well he plays. Thanks to Licht the team has to shed some big payroll. Start with QB and O line. Underperforming and extremely overpriced.

  21. Hodad Says:

In order to trade for secondary help you’d have to make room for them. That would mean cutting some players you picked high in the draft, and give away draft choices you need for other glaring holes on the team. All Licht had to do in the off season is sign some vets instead of blowing the draft on players who might not have any business being in the NFL. We’re turning into a team full of DB’s while we still have so many other needs. The answer isn’t to keep looking for secondary help, but rather get rid of the real problem Jason Licht.

  22. Buccfan37 Says:

The game was entertaining to watch but the Bucs with a decent lead asked to hold and build onto that lead was too much to expect. The nerve of the Seahawks HC throwing a challenge flag claiming Evans pushed off which he likely did but most passing plays all have some hand checking action of sorts. Left up to the refs any call can happen anytime.

  23. Bucamania Says:

Licht and Winston are the perennial losers here. Bad drafts and bad mistakes on the field. Yes, Winston played well yesterday (except for the phantom sack fumble) but you know he can’t go more than 3 weeks without imploding. Licht has no plan. None.
