Remembering The Veterans

November 11th, 2019

veterans-day

Joe understands there are a whole lot of guys (girls, too?) who served our country who read this here site daily.

Today, as Joe does every year, Joe salutes you. Not because you read this site (though Joe appreciates that a great deal) but Joe salutes what you did for the rest of us. Thank you for your service. And for those who are still in uniform, a hearty thank you as well and wishing you a safe return home someday.

The two Joes are sons of men who served in the Pacific Theater in World War II under very different circumstances, but both with the same purpose and goal. Service men and women mean a lot to Joe.

As Joe does every year, Joe will go to either an American Legion hall today, or a VFW outpost, lay cash on the bar and tell the bartender to buy a round of drinks. Then Joe will quickly walk out the door.

You don’t have to buy a vet any drinks, but Joe is sure a simple thanks if you meet a vet today would mean a lot.

Never forget.

More than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did yesterday….I have written them about that. The Bucs have ALWAYS paid tribute to veterans on the Sunday before at home games…They chose to bring attention to cancer…blah..blah blah…cancer gets a whole month and a whole bunch of attention all year long !
BTW…I am a cancer survivor….Agent orange related so I’m not pissing on attention to cancer etc…only displacing the Veterans Day @ the Ray Jay…

  4. TOM Says:

I’m an Army Vet also. Sitting here having a coffee recoupin from one to many on Sunday football. Let us all remember those who not only served but paid..The ultimate price. Thanks for remembering Joe!

So you vets, identify your branch.

(For all you Marines, go watch “Devil Dogs” on Amazon Prime. You can thank Joe later. That is one special dude featured in that hour-long film.)

  15. Jurevicius Circle Says:

I’ll try to speak for myself only, and any other veterans are welcome to join me in my sentiments:

Service was an honor and a privilege, for which no thanks is necessary, yet any act or word of gratitude is all the recognition we will ever need.

  16. Bucsfanman Says:

    Semper Fi!! Thank you ALL!

As a Vet myself I do not wish to get political. But please…we have a divisive week coming up.

I do not care which side of the impeachment issue you are on that’s your choice and this is NOT a political blog.

Could we at least stick to facts and not try to slander Veterans…one of whom served in the same Division as me in Vietnam…the 101st. Another is a purple heart recipient.

It’s perfectly fine to disagree with the message…shooting the messenger will not make you any more correct…especially in this case with people who have served us for their entire lives.

  18. Buccfan37 Says:

Great job veterans. All wars are banker wars.

  19. Barack's Crack Pipe Says:

    Thanks, Joe.

And yes, while proud of my service, all wars are bankster’s wars. As the veil is being lifted, may we take the opportunity to serve one last time.
