“Not Hard”

November 13th, 2019

Dismissal discussed.

Just moments before it was learned today that former Bucs’ first-round draft pick cornerback Vernon Hargreaves was picked up by the Texans, Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians was peppered with questions about the team releasing Hargreaves.

Arians, who seemed to have been a critic of Hargreaves beginning in spring practices, clearly was in no mood to discuss the move by the Bucs.

Arians, when he did answer questions about Hargreaves, gave very clipped, short answers. A good example is when Arians was asked if it was a difficult move given that the rest of his secondary is so young and banged up.

Arians replied, “Not hard.”

To Joe, those two words say a lot.

Notice that when coaches let guys go after preseason to whittle the roster down to 53, they often talk about how difficult it is and that it may be the worst task they have as an NFL coach.

But letting go Hargreaves from the Bucs, the only NFL team he has known, his hometown team, Arians just said, “Not hard.”

Smells like Arians wanted to move on from Hargreaves for some time.

Adios punk. Glazers do the right thing and fire Licht last month. No hope until that menace to our roster walks the plank.

  2. Easy Says:

    Licht should be fired also

  3. tmaxcon Says:

Garbage player worse person shorter version of cancer93

  4. Bucnjim Says:

The new Millennial NFL. Once upon a time men were actually MEN! Licht has been so obsessed with speed and potential he forgot to check for one thing….A SET OF BALLS!!! Very important because it is a violent sport and playing hurt is a necessity.

  5. H8JWLVEBUCS Says:

Well he is stupid because he could have gotten something for him before the trade deadline.

  6. Jmon300@gmail.com Says:

Licht not going anywhere smh nor is Jameis ….

  8. H8JWLVEBUCS Says:

Now watch him shine, nobody wants to play on a losing team year in and year out guys. Good luck dude I dont know if I would have done the same thing if i was in your shoes but I understand.

  9. Bucnjim Says:

Could’ve gotten a tuna on rye but it would have been expired. He’s worth less than nothing!

  10. Defense Rules Says:

Being a 1st round pick, Vernon walked away with a few mil for his efforts. If only he had earned some of it, he might still be employed today.

  11. Bucnjim Says:

Only winners can change a culture. Too much to ask from this type of player!

  12. Clw JB Says:

Listen, the year has been a total disappointment thus far, we all had much higher expectations than 3-6 – but – BA could save the season with this move

EVERY player in that locker knows without a doubt, if BA wants you gone, you are GONE!

I would lay money we see much better effort from this entire team going forward and the rookies and 2nd year guys all over the secondary will develop faster…

I agree with BA, at this point, Id rather develop them than let VHIII infect them with his half hearted effort disease and showboating after every over and under-thrown pass he claims as a victory…

He was great at UF, but he was just horrific in the NFL – to the “we could have a gotten a draft pick for him” – not without giving one back – so we needed a partner with a higher 7th rounder than ours…that is all he is worth

CANT WAIT TO WATCH MIKE AND CHRIS EAT HIM ALIVE!!!!!!

  13. H8JWLVEBUCS Says:

He begged DeSean to stay and he was more of a infection then Hargreaves so I dont understand. I dont blame him for cutting the dude but you need to look in the mirror you are nothing but a Joe Gibbs Redskins experiment that will end the same way.

  14. Frankinthe813 Says:

He will be back…with the Texans,,,

  15. Tye Says:

Hargreaves is just the latest player to rejoice, celebrating the move from the sewage of bucs and landed on a playoff caliber team… SMH! LoL

  16. unbelievable Says:

I think they maybe could have eeked out a very late round pick for him in a trade, but who knows? Maybe they tried and didn’t have any takers?

The truth is his career highlights could be shown in about 25 seconds. I’m sure teams knew if he was on the trading block, there’s was a very good chance he would just be released eventually.

Will he resurrect his career somewhere else? Maybe (doubtful). But he had plenty of time to improve while in Tampa, and he simply never did.

  17. Lamarcus Says:

Looks like he didn’t want him to begin. Tried a few tactics like the 5th year options didn’t work now toast

  18. Jim Says:

Just saved a game for you, Coach…

  19. Coburn Says:

When you’re the worst player in the worst pass defense in the league they aren’t getting mucj in a trade for ya…

  20. Sarasota Garey Says:

Bruce said 2 things you can control are your attitude and effort, sounds like both were directed at Hargraeves

  21. The Ghost of Leeman Bennett Says:

It will be interesting to see if this dude pulls a Talib and becomes awesome as soon as he gets to another team. Imagine that….that would say a lot about the Bucs. I doubt it will happen, but we shall wait and see.

  22. Iamabuc Says:

I doubt he’ll make anywhere…his most famous trait here; his hyena laughter….so, go figure…bye..

  23. jmarkbuc Says:

I hope Vern is still with the Texans when they visit Ray Jay…..

  24. FortMyersDave Says:

Why did this move take so long? Were the suits @ One Buc more worried about saving face if BA truly wanted VH3 gone for awhile? Does Licht still have more some/more say about the roster (than BA)? Good move but months too late…..

  25. Pewter power Says:

He will give all the secrets he can

  26. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

We will save money by releasing him. The decision to release Hargreaves has a financial component. The Bucs picked up Hargreaves’ fifth-year option for $9 million for 2020 that is guaranteed only against injury.

  27. ElioT Says:

Short, slow, weak DB who mostly plays like a b***h, and just wants to dance around after doing nothing.

Remember the pick he dropped in NOLA back in the 9-7 season when the playoffs were on the line?

D-Bag jumped up and acted like he just won the super bowl without thinking he just dropped the best chance the Bucs had to make the playoffs since before he had pubes.

    Good riddance.

I was pissed the night they drafted him, and I’m still pissed now.

    GTFO Jason Licht!

  28. nicholas Houllis Says:

For all of you who think Jason Licht needs to go, I got some info for ya…. Hes already gone . !
Dont think for a second Licht is calling the shots on player personel. This is Arians team, thats why he was so happy to “Work with Jason Licht”. Licht is probably the contract guy, the one who handles the money, the salarying cap, etc. Arians gets the players he wants. Thats why they signed him to a 5 year extension. NO way with his track record he gets a 5 year deal. look at how much better the drafting was this year. Leave Licht alone, he’s a figure head at best.

  29. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Ba is full of BS so anything he says is forgettable

  30. Mike Johnson Says:

So arians knew all along he did not like the player. Why wait and not get at least a 4th thru 7th rd pick for the guy. Now watch Hargreaves go on to become a good player with them Texans. We never seem to do things right. Ohh well..BUCLIFE Baby!

  31. JimmyJack Says:

FortMyersDave…….The timing seems to make sense to me. Yes, sure they could have probably traded him last year or in the off-season. But if your bringing in a new HC it makes sense to keep former first rounders and see if the new coach can get them to hit their potential. We’ve seen that happen all the time with players we got rid of.

& Mike Johnson who cares if Vernon plays good elsewhere? We drafted him to be a shutdown corner for us and be the leader of our secondary in years to come……He was set to be paid almost 10M dollars to do just that. He was never going to be that guy and was never going to return here. He might be a decent role player in this league and that’s about. Not like we losing somebody who is irreplaceable.

  32. DaBux Says:

More respect for BA after this move. We’re not going to the playoffs and VH0.3 isn’t going to the payoffs.

  33. Howard Cosell Says:

    Rare positivity from Howard:
Get of Licht and Winstons nutsack. Both those guys are huge assets and not detriments to any hope this team has of being good. If glasers keep Licht and BA, and most importantly stay out of the way…..and sign lots and lots of huge checks…..Howard sees this being a 10-6 team next year.
The VHGIII bitch-slap has given Howard a tiny amount of hope.

(Again…for this to work glasers have to shut and sign checks without questioning anything)

  34. Elita Vita Says:

Texans just using Vernon for the intel he can provide about the Bucs. Do you think it’s just a coincidence that the Texans are playing the Bucs this year? He’ll be cut in relatively quick fashion once he serves his purpose.

  35. Buc believer Says:

If it’s true everyone is accountable when will Jason Licht be held to the same standard?

  36. donuts Says:

Texans are in first place [6-3] in soft AFC South so VH3 will be in the playoffs unless they collapse somehow. Licht should have been fired but Arians wont let that happen. Bucs are lining up as a 5 win team – which sadly was my preseason prediction. Saints will be fired up after loss last week but who knows what Buc team shows up Sunday. Im sure it will be close at end as always. GoBucs!

  37. stpetebucsfan Says:

If VHG sticks with the Texans…do we even know how much they have invested…a cup of coffee perhaps.

IF VHG sticks and actually gets reps do we think JW will be licking his chops? Could look like when Wilson targeted Dean or for that matter like the rest of the NFL QB’s who always targeted VHG.

  38. Howard Cosell Says:

The more Howard think about it, the more it makes sense.
BA has a young youngry secondary. The last thing you want
is some entitled-poser as the example setter and elder statesman

  39. The Coroner Says:

And another high Jason Licht pick bites the dust.

  40. Buc4evr Says:

BA will bring accountability to this team. If not this year by next year. VH3 was a slacker who was poisoning the young secondary and BA was tired of his s**t. Players are getting the message loud and clear and the Bucs may very well shock the Saints this week.

  41. Dapostman Says:

If you watched Hargreaves against Arizona in 2017 then you knew Arians wasn’t doing summersaults over him.

Also if he went through waivers and the Texans picked him up that means a lot of worse teams PASSED on him. Ouch!

  42. Kobe Faker Says:

    “Players get tired of losing

Only reason some players are here is because they will be overpaid and more than any other team

The players who isn’t going to get top dollar is going to bolt

OJ and his Agent has specifically told Grandpa Smurf he wants top 3 TE money no matter how his stats looks because Leftwich doesn’t know 31 other OCs know how to use TEs

Players are here in this team solely because of money. This team cant win over 5 games and play in a stadium quarter full with the worst pathetic fanbase

**Peeps going to realise very soon that Grandpa Smurf knows absolutely nothing about building a team”

    _______

I’m sorry, but Licht was obsessed with speed and potential and he picked Vern? Did you not see the big fat turd he laid at the Combine? Funny thing is, as unimpressive as Hargreaves was, most Bucs fans were all about that pick. SEC/Florida, he has to be good. Probably the same numbskulls that wanted us to draft, claim, sign Jachai Polite, who is also an overrated and unimpressive Florida alum.

…. with the worst pathetic fanbase

Lol I know you’re a troll with 150 email accounts (which I’ll never understand putting that much effort into internet smartassetry), but, in case you actually believe what you’re saying:
A fanbase is a reflection of it’s team. You know that right? The egg comes before the chicken. Fans here in Tampa, if anything, should be plaintiffs in a CAL against scheme glaser Lol

Sadly, I agree with you about the money part….but that’s why this VH accountability thing is so timely

  46. soggy Says:

Is that a big spider on Hargreaves head?

  47. Greg Says:

@hHoward well said. Kobe with no pride you eschew venom and you don’t stand behind your words. You are a troll that has too much time on their hands. Go away like you said you would multiple times! Blasting the ” pathetic fan base ” when you are worst of the worst! Get a life dude!

  48. Greg Says:

With VHIII I actually think he has the ability but not the desire to be the best he can be. I am not the first to say this but he truly was more concerned with posting on his Instagram how he poses more than what he put on the field. I am not on his account but I have a family member that is and he raised serious concerns long ago.

  49. cmurda Says:

A trade for VH3 nearly went through from my understanding. However, the bag of Doritos was coveted too much. Please stop with the “we could have traded VH3 nonsense”. If anybody would have traded anything, Licht would have done it. Licht can’t draft but he’s not completely brain-dead.

  54. Buccfan37 Says:

BA realizes his coaching and his pitiful Bucs record is extremely lousy. Hargreaves is his scapegoat to sooth his airhead inflated ego and to appear coach worthy.
