The Best Free Agent Signing?

October 6th, 2019

Could make history today.

Today, Bucs pass rushing freak Shaq Barrett is going for NFL history. Sort of.

If Barrett gets two sacks, he will have 11 sacks in the first give games. Currently, Kevin Greene holds the record for most sacks in the first five games; that is 10.

But 11 sacks in five games is not unheard of from a Bucs player. In 2002, Simeon Rice had a five-game stretch where he had 11 sacks.

Joe is trying to figure out the top free agent in Bucs history. It would be difficult to argue with Rice, who should be a Hall of Fame player. Brad Johnson helped guide the Bucs to a Super Bowl win. That’s huge. Others may say Hardy Nickerson. Good free agent but he wasn’t around to win a ring with the Bucs.

As for this season? Closet Bucs fan Peter Schrager of NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” makes the case that this season, no other free agent signing is making as much of an impact as Barrett.

Cool stuff.

One thing I can honestly say is that the GMF crew has been on the Bucs bandwagon for a while now; as a fan I really appreciate that…screw all the other naysayers…

With that said, this team can’t fall for the hype…we need to stay humble and stay hungry…Let’s go to New Orleans and crash the party…

    Go Bucs!

There are 3 reasons why he might stay in tampa when he gets 15-20 sacks this year and can make 15-20 million :

1: We gave him his shot . There is still loyalty in the nfl unlike the nba . Some guys just need to be given a chance. We gave him a chance to show he can ball out and be a leader. Denver obviously did not

2: He loves todd Bowles system. Says he has seen nothing like it in an interview earlier this year. Blitzing from different looks. And that is someone coming from Denver who has had a great defense for almost 10 years

3: The obvious . Great weather / beaches / no state income tax.

Sign the man. Every team needs a horse to get after the quarterback. Also , check out Bryan Baldinger review of film. The guy is good against the run too. Pay him . Pay him. Pay him.

99).97.92.58.55.47.40.28.20: after the game you’re going to have to add 58 …which I already did as you can see!! Bridgwater will be standing there!!!

When you consider what we are paying this guy it maybe one of the best free agent signings in term of value for the dollar.

Don’t look now people but Licht is quietly repairing a lot of his bad reputation. The 2018 draft class is playing great(especially Carlton who gets little recognition). And this year’s free agent signings are making massive differences on defense.

Licht might not be the dumbass y’all said he was after all.

Bird our biggest advantage to resigning Barrett is that we got the first crack at signing him.

We should be trying to sing him now during the season and never let him get to FA. If we can give him a number he likes it’s a huge advantage for him to ink guaranteed money now without any chance of an injury taking it away.

You could also add a fourth point that he and his family can settle right here in Tampa. He can plan to be here long-term and won’t have to move. Some players might not care if they gotta move or not but it is a big deal for many other players.

Agree completely with your post. GMF is fun to watch because we get our best shake in national media there.

Although….gotta confess….Joe gets it right when he brings up Kay Adams! How about an incredibly dated reference.
    VA VA VOOM!
