Predicting Jameis’ End

October 27th, 2019

It’s over, says former Bucs TE.

A former Bucs player employed by the Buccaneers Radio Network has predicted Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht this week will approach Team Glazer asking to obtain a new quarterback in the offseason.

“I can assure you management, Jason Licht, is going in [to One Buc Palace this week] and saying, “You have to find me a new quarterback,” said former Bucs tight end John Gilmore, who does a postgame show on the Buccaneers Radio Network.

Of course, it is Licht who will have to find a quarterback, not the ownership family, but point taken.

And while Jameis was hardly the lone reason the Bucs lost today, he didn’t help a whole lot and his four turnovers has convinced Gilmore enough is enough.

“I have no more passes to give Jameis Winston,” Gilmore said, while acknowledging Jameis did make some good plays. “I have lost count [of Jameis’ turnovers]. I’m tired of giving him breaks. When all of these turnovers happen and Jameis is connected.”

Gilmore’s cohost, Ronnie “Night Train” Lane, mentioned that Brett Farve and Peyton Manning were also turnover machines early in their careers. Gilmore wouldn’t have it.

“They found ways to win games,” Gilmore said.

Later when Lane was reading the scores of games and mentioned the Seahawks winning, Gilmore sarcastically asked how many interceptions Russell Wilson had.

“It’s not rocket science,” Gilmore said.

Maybe franchise to ease in the new QB, but other than that, yeah, the end!

  2. Matt Says:

Why would you trust Licht to find the new guy?

  3. Pete I Says:

The loss was totally on Jameis ” meaningless stats ” Winston America’s QB

    No one else.

  4. Bucs_Fan_Orlando Says:

You are who the film says you are.

JW throws picks when it’s on him.

    Winston might have blame
But think about this Mike Evans was torching the DBs
    Our OC LOST the game

  6. CPN Says:

    Tank for Burrow or Herbert!

  7. Pelbuc61 Says:

The problem is that LICHT will be in charge of finding the new QB.

  8. Warrenfb12 Says:

I’m riding with jameis man. The thought of a rookie
    QB makes me sick.

  9. Petty Officer Buc Says:

    Justin Herbert
    Jacob Eason
    Joe Burrow
    Jake Fromm

That’s my order and Burrow is still rising. Still, get a veteran QB for them to learn behind on the bench.

Be honest and don’t be scared to change your poster name
    Don’t run. Don’t hide.

I have a pretty good idea of who you are

  11. Adrnagy Says:

Who is Gilmore ? Was he successful ?

3rd qtr 4and inches. We punt. We lost the game. Qb sneak we win. The last 4th down. A rb draw ?

  12. Bird Says:

How many opportunities did Jameis have to win that game ?
Gilmore is right. Winners win , even with mistakes

The titans are a lousy team and tried to give the game away

  13. Bucsfanman Says:

It’s maddening to watch this guy!
Bottom line: Do you hitch your wagon to a QB who’s best trait is that he makes plays SOMETIMES?
You cannot win in this league turning the ball over again and again. PERIOD!

  14. Ndog Says:

Oh my goodness everyone is brainwashed. HOW CAN THIS SITE KEEP SAYING THE QB HAD 4 TOs TODAY WHEN TWO WERE CLEARLY NOT ON HIM AND THE OTHER TWO THE HEAD COACH JUST SAID THEY WERE WRONG ROUTES?

  15. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

That would take King Kong size balls to say/ask that of the G’Boyz…..hope they are installing a gator pit and trap door in front of their desk if Jason Lite dares utter that non sense….Jason is responsible for still playing not yanking Jamyth’s chain

  16. D-Rome Says:

It’s a joke and a disgrace when anyone compares Jay-Miss to Favre and Manning. Favre was an MVP by his 5th season and Manning by his 6th.

Compare WinsTOn to his contemporaries. He is BELOW AVERAGE!

  17. Petty Officer Buc Says:

What’s the TD to Turnover ratio at now? 102 to 90? I myself have lost count.

  18. lambchop Says:

This argument that Favre and Manning were turnover machines and became prolific is absurd. In hindsight you can analyze and slice it any way you want. But, as a football decision in the here and now, there’s nothing to show anyone that Intston can even be mentioned in the same sentence as those guys. You can’t hope to win week in and week out thinking he’s going to get it together. Unfortunately he’s a #1 draft pick and he’s not playing like one. If the Titans can win with another qb south the same crappy team, so can we.

Maybe he will succeed somewhere else. But, his time here is waning. Its just time to send a message to everyone that we have higher expectations. The longer we delay, the harder it’ll be to dig out of the laughing stock of the NFL.

  19. Ndog Says:

I love how you people think a new QB will make that snap on time, the LT not get beat to give up a fumble, make the WRs run the correct routes, make the defense not give up one BUT two 4th quarter drives to lose the game. How does a new QB solve those things?

  20. JimmyJack Says:

This is not a game to judge anybody on the Bucs. Evans dropped points, Winston made a few unacceptable decisions, White looked lost out there, Dare was playing like a stiff……..None of that matters because all of them players overcame it and made plays to help us win the game. And we did enough to win.

We got cheated is all. We didn’t lose today. A consider this game a con. Don’t accept the results. Pleased with the Bucs performance overall today.

  21. Bird Says:

    102 Tds

    And

    92 turnovers

  22. Bird Says:

    Ndog

I love how you blame 92 turnovers on everyone else

  23. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Let’s face it…..Jameis hasn’t improved…..he’s in his 5th year and no improvement over his rookie year…..sad, very sad….but true….time to move on.

    Jason to Glazers……give me a new QB….a RB….a LT & RT……a few CBs…..the good news….I think we’ve finally got a kicker…..

  24. Fire the fans Says:

I hate to break it to you guys but jw is going nowhere

  25. Petty Officer Buc Says:

Somebody remind me how long it takes a QB to “master” Bruce Arians system, like you’re learning Multivariable Calculus and Differential Equations for the first time. What was Carson Palmer? 6 games?

  26. Sharthappens Says:

    Hey NDog:

Jameis Winston now has 6 career games with 4+ giveaways (most such games by any QB since 2015).

  34. Bird Says:

92 turnovers in 4 and 1/2 season almost.

    That’s hard work

do not draft a QB before round 10. build the trenches.

  38. Petty Officer Buc Says:

I really hate it how wINTston gets compared to Brett Farve as a “gunslinger”.

Newsflash: While Gunslingers have Turnovers, they makeup for it with way more TOUCHDOWNS! They don’t have a 102:92 ratio. That is just a bad QB, not a “Gunslinger”. They also have wins, something wINTston doesn’t have.

    5 possessions:
7-17. 78 yds sack, fumble, interception, 1-20 yd scramble for 1st down

    Inconsistent Loser

  42. Sbucs Says:

  43. Troy Says:

Ndog cracks me up. He thinks Winston was flawless. One good thing is that he’ll be a fan of the Patriots next year since we know they’re going to sign Winston as Brady’s replacement.

  44. Rayjay1122 Says:

All of you who still are supporting Winston are so ignorant that I won’t even rip into you all. I just feel sorry for your mental state.

  45. Rayjay1122 Says:

We need to address the OL, pass rush and secondary. I would not rely on a rookie QB. Go find a serviceable veteran QB like Teddy Bridgewater has been for the Saints. A rookie QB will fail because there are so many holes in this roster.

I would focus on the trenches. The blocking is bad and we have zero depth. Better OL play will help the running game and I think RoJo is serviceable behind an improved OL. Also we need to look for another pass rusher to help the secondary which is also in need of a major upgrade.

  46. ClodHopper Says:

How many turnovers would you tolerate from a QB getting paid 30 mil? What I would tolerate is already passed.

  47. Oneilbucs Says:

Petty. ain’t no quarterback is going to be successful on this team until we get a good running game. And he definitely ain’t going to learn anything being on the bench. That’s a national media brainwash tool for people that don’t know nothing about football . That’s what they want you to think. But see I know football and again the 49ers are being successful cause they have been building their defense for a least 3 or 4 years. Then they went got some running backs that can run the ball. Jimmy G is not the reason why they are wining. They are not asking him to throw 40 times a game they don’t care about how many yards he throws or touchdown passes he has they care about winning. People on this site care more about how many yards a quarterback has how many touchdown passes he has more than about winning. You guys care about quarterback to much. I care about the team!!!

  48. Dapostman Says:

NDog, you are wasting your time. If you haven’t figured out that this is one of the stupidest fan bases in all of sports then I can’t help you. You know as well as I do that Winston has to win the game because the rest of these guys aren’t going to. It’s as simple as that. The Buc fans get mad because Winston didn’t throw a TD to himself. Do you think if Edelman doesn’t make that catch the Pats would have beaten the Falcons? Maybe, maybe not but Tom Brady is the greatest. Most Americans are stupid. That’s why Jonathan Gruber sold them on Obamacare then came out and said we had to because Americans are stupid. It is what it is. Just enjoy the ride when Winston comes back to Tampa in a different uni and shoves it up their a…

  49. Craig Says:

There are a bucketful of good QBs this year and Licht has already shown that he can’t be trusted to use a first pick properly.

Start Griffin from here on out and see what makes him the first QB the Bucs have extended a contract for. Most first round QBs flop because they think they are the chosen one. Build the team up and find a talented game manager in the third or fourth round.

If Griffin can’t make it, which I still doubt, find a free agent QB after the season is over to groom the draftee.

  50. buc up Says:

I questioned why Bruce did not play the starters more in the pre-season. New systems and young players that needed to learn during games that do not count. Not playing Winston much was a big mistake!

  51. Sharthappens Says:

I just saw the highlights on NFL Gameday Live and the announcers are laughing about JWs performance.

Jameis Winston now has 6 career games with 4+ giveaways (most such games by any QB since 2015).

  52. J Says:

It’s time to take Jameis out back and put one in his head…that dog just ain’t gonna hunt.

  53. Bucsfan951 Says:

Ndoggie: so what’s the excuse for this week? We’ve heard the blame being placed on the defense, the o line, the lack of run game… is it the receivers this week? Just asking because I’m keeping a running tally of your lame excuses.

  54. Aaron Says:

While I agree we may need to move on from JW…that doesn’t fix:

Wr not getting their feet down when wide open in the end zone.
Center snapping the ball to early
Motion WR running into the RB inside the 5
    CB that can’t cover
Team that can’t run the ball at ALL

So we move on and Licht is the guy that’s going to turn this around.

If the Bucs do want to move on from JW – we need to cut him now…

I fear for any rookie QB that plays for the Bucs next year…not a good team to play for and our fans will expect them to be a HOMer by week 4

You are one funny Nole fan

  56. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

Arians is right I saw guys quit or stop on their routes. Have you all ever thought of the idea that Jameis throws to a spot trusting his guy will be there? Go look at every interception he has thrown and I would say at least 60% of them are do to this reason alone. So why is that?

  57. Anonymous Says:

Bruce Arians continuing to make excuses for Winston is exhausting , demoralizing and downright sad. Every QB has to deal with WRs running the wrong routes, offensive lineman giving up strip sacks, drops , etc. Just quit with the damn excuses.

Jameis Winston leads the league in turnovers since 2015. Were they all on him ? No , they weren’t . But the same thing could be said for pretty much every other QB who has ever played the game. Jameis isn’t a consistently good thrower and not a good decision maker . You don’t want one of those traits in your franchise QB . Jameis has both traits.

I can’t wait till Jameis is on ANY other team (if the Bucs don’t trade him) he will get to choose what winning franchise he goes to. The Bucs will stil lose in embarrassing fashion and I will be here to laugh about it. Lmao (lol) lulz!!!

  61. BucsBandit Says:

    Oneilbucs,

For the love of God, please stop writing “don’t know nothing about football…” that is a DOUBLE NEGATIVE in grammar and makes no sense. The proper grammar is “don’t know anything about football.”

Thank you for your cooperation. Please proceed with trying to tell other Bucs fans how they aren’t as smart as you are.

  62. BucsBandit Says:

    SilverBuc,

If the Bucs get rid of Jameis the odds are very high he may never take another NFL snap unless he goes to a team where the starter gets hurt.

  69. Sumosam Says:

Watch one of Jameis games from his first year and then look at one this year. It’s five years and there is no improvement people. This has become a crap show with all of the mistakes that he makes. I’ve been a season ticket holder since 1997. I’m selling my remaining seats this year and not renewing next year. I have put my money where my mouth is unlike most of the blowhards here. Time for me to bail.

  70. BucsBandit Says:

Dapostman is going to need a bigger box of tissues.

  71. BucsBandit Says:

    Sumosam,

I’m hear ya. I’ve spent a small fortune on Bucs tickets and refuse to give them another cent until Winston is gone. If they somehow resign Winston just wait and see what happens to the fan base and the NFL. It will plummet 10X worse than it is now.

  72. Hodad Says:

    Licht is the problem!!

  73. The Coroner Says:

Jameis doesn’t block. Neither does his line.
He isn’t a running back even though he led the Bucs in rushing today.
He doesn’t load up the rush because the Bucs can’t block or run the ball.
He isn’t a receiver running the wrong route.
    He isn’t the Offensive Coordinator.
Jameis isn’t a bunch of young DBs who can’t cover.
    He isn’t running the draft.
No. I don’t think Jameis is faultless.
It takes a team to win – or lose.

  74. TOM Says:

I wouldn’t put to much faith in anything BA says. After all he thinks Lefttwish is a good OC. That should tell you something right there.

  75. Biggun Says:

JOE BURROW LSU QB thats my pick for replacing JW-3

  76. BucsBandit Says:

    The Coroner,

You’re right, he isn’t any of those things.

    You know who 100% IS?

A guy that repeatedly fumbles the football, overthrows WRs or forces bad throws into INTs, has terrible footwork, holds the ball too long, and has zero consistency for an NFL QB. Summary: He sucks as a starting QB and needs to be loaded into the cannons at RayJay and fired right out of Tampa.

  77. Oneilbucs Says:

Bucsbandit. You are right I still believe that Jamies is good enough to win with. He’s just ask to do to much. Look the 49ers don’t ask Jimmy G to do everything. They are wining the same way I’ve been preaching since they drafted Jamies. You run the ball and play good defense that’s how you develop a young quarterback. But The bucs didn’t do that with Jamies. They asked him to come in and win a championship with no defense or running game and with a bottom ranked offensive line. And that’s to much for any quarterback young or old to do . All the young quarterbacks that’s playing good all have good teams around them and that’s the differences between them and Jamies. You can’t name 1 young quarterback that was asked to do what Jamies had to do with no defense or running game all of them has had or and still got a better team around them even right now today. But go ahead and please get another quarterback and next year when we lose just about every game I don’t want to here about team. And Jamies still found away to throw a over a 100 touchdowns at the age of 25 . Jamies will go to another team and win and every body knows it . Look at Teddy Bridgwater with the saints the saints has a good team they don’t need Brees and the Patriots don’t need Brady their defense is good and they can run the ball.

  78. Oneilbucs Says:

Oh and by the way how many touchdowns that Jimmy G threw ?? None right? And what was the score of the game 51 to 13 against the a good team. Ok lol lol lol the quarterback position is the most overrated position in the game!!! But the national media got all yall brainwash lol lol lol !!!!!!

  79. Tbbucs3 Says:

So Joe you should do a pole of who’s the bigger problem

    Jameis Winston or
    Jason Licht

The answer should be 99% of fans say Jason Licht is the biggest problem because he is but it won’t cause many Buc fans have this weird twisted hate for JW for some reason that goes way beyond football.

  80. Mister Negative Nancy Says:

Maybe they can find a QB this time who doesn’t have off-field issues, that most of America might actually not despise.

  81. JameisAlmighty! Says:

Jason Licht is the problem. Not famous Jameis. Watch Jameis sit behind Brady and become a 13 time champion and the best to ever do it. Jameis Bashers are bungholes.

  82. Ed Says:

5 years is enough time for a pro athlete to improve. Winston is the same guy he was when he entered the league. The only improvement I’ve seen is he is throwing the deep ball better but some of those out patterns he was throwing into the dirt. I thought a couple of runs he made he waited a second too long before he took off and came up short because of that. His fumbles and sacks are worse than ever. The extra weight he is carrying has made him slower.

  83. BucsBandit Says:

    Oneilbucs,

    You’re comparing apples to blueberries.

Most rookie QBs go to crappy teams, a team with a solid QB doesn’t need to draft a rookie. Jimmy G was a free agent signing, not a drafted rookie for the 49ers.

The Bucs overall stink and need major improvement. Our secondary is a liability. But our young Defense did hold the Titans to a total of under 200 yards of offense until late in the game. They finished holding them to like 270 total or something which is decent. But no doubt our secondary stinks.

With all that said, Jameis Winston can still be evaluated independently. Thats what guys like you don’t get… no one is mad that Jameis didn’t win the game (or others) people are mad because he’s played inconsistent and pretty terrible at times after four years in the league. He has a turnover problem which is a HUGE issue. You don’t agree with that?

Jameis also seems to be missing that ‘x’ factor to progress to the next level. His footwork seems bad and not getting better, and he seems to have a problem reading Defenses. He definitely holds the ball too long. If you can’t admit those things then you’re either lying to yourself and too biased about Winston (like NDog seems to be) or you don’t know football.

Again, no one is expecting Jameis to win games all by himself as it IS a team game. BUT… Jameis has nearly single handedly lost the Bucs games (or certainly put them in a really bad position and hole to dig out of) with his costly turnovers.

Jameis Winston just doesn’t seem to have what it takes to be an above average QB due to this inconsistency and ongoing turnover problems. If you watched the full game today then you know he very easily could have had at least 2 more turnovers. That’s NOT a good sign.

  84. Troy Says:

As a fan, I’m approaching the Glazers to obtain a new GM. This guy cannot be trusted to make any personnel decisions for this team. Just look at the roster.

  85. MTM Says:

The reason Winston is still the starting is because Licht screwed up picking him and is trying to make it work. Both are abject failures. The Glazers are the ones that call the shots ultimately and are not prepared to be owners in the NFL.

  86. mickman Says:

what the heck does Gilmore know? All of a sudden fans should listen to a second third string TE on the bucs roster….lol!

Jimmy G is undefeated and playing like crap, throwing a bunch of picks despite having the most dominant run game AND defense in the entire NFL.

Talking heads are so stupid it’s scary.

  90. SteveK Says:
