“His Name Has ‘God’ And ‘Win’

October 11th, 2019

Pro Bowl numbers.

Yeah, people talked about how Chris Godwin could be a stud receiver. He’s proving it this year.

In his first year as a starter, Godwin is blowing up and — brace yourselves — setting himself up for a Powerball-like contract when it expires after the 2020 season.

Almost as quiet as Godwin is personally, it’s hard to hear (or realize) that Godwin is leading the NFL in touchdown passes (six), is third in the NFL in yards (511), just 32 yards shy of league-leading Michael Thomas and is tied for the league-lead with D.J. Chark of Jacksonville with most catches of 20-yards or more.

“Pro Bowl” you say?

Well, Godwin was the subject of chatter around the breakfast table on “Good Morning Football,” seen weekday mornings on NFL Network.

Nate Burleson is of the mind if the Bucs can pull off a win Sunday morning in London, it will be because Godwin puts the Bucs on his shoulders. Kyle Brandt suggested there should be no surprise Godwin has busted out as a stud receiver.

“His last name has ‘God’ and ‘win,'” Brandt explained. “That’s what life is all about for many people.”

DeSean Jackson… who?

Mike Evans is due for a big game. All this focus on Godwin will give him opportunities.

  2. Buczilla Says:

Hines Ward 2.0? The season is early, but it’s so cool to see a 3rd year player breaking out and making things his own, no matter his ailments. This kid is balls.

  3. Joe Says:

    Hines Ward 2.0?

    Very good comparison.

    “Like my Dad said

    Lazy journalism is like STDs

    The Saints stopped Godwin

1 catch in the first half

Garbage yards with 1 minute left and down double digits

The Saints defense completely shutdown BA/BL passing offense

Don’t insult my Dad and I intelligence”

The Bucs have a few players that are exactly what you want in an NFL player…

My choices are…….Evans, Marpet, Godwin, Whitehead, Vea….and soon to be Devin White…..LVD should be included too…..

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I’ll add Shaq to that list…..there may be more coming…..like Cappa & Rojo

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhh! You do that pretty well on your own. I think you’re trying to say, “Don’t insult my Dad’s and MY intelligence.” Which you could’ve said, IF you were actually intelligent.

  12. orlbucfan Says:

ONGODLY fits Godwin to a ‘T.’ Good man and great receiver.

  13. orlbucfan Says:

    Whoops! UNGODLY. Typo alert.

  14. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

    8 rec , 154 yards, 2 TD for MeJax.
    18 rec , 368 yards, 4 TD for Mikey.
33 rec, 511 yards, 6 TD for God Win.

  15. Rod Munch Says:

Godwin and Jackson don’t play the same position – and if D-Jax was here, and healthy (big if) then Godwin is doing even more.

Having three #1 WRs is a lot better than having two #1s.

The team has zero depth at WR now as Perriman has been a complete bust (who would have thought a guy cut from the Redskins last year would be a bust) and Bobo, who I like, shouldn’t be more than a #4 or #5.

Anywho here’s hoping that Leftwich is smart to realize the Bucs have a great pass catching TE and actually try to get him the ball. At worst line up OJ wide and if he gets 1-on-1 coverage with a corner, just have Winston throw 50/50 ball after 50/50 ball at him and let OJ just outsize and outpower the corner. Much better than putting Miller out there only to have him getting jammed at the LOS and unable to get open.
