“Bad Job”

October 30th, 2019

Sums up Bucs.

No, Bucco Bruce Arians is not making excuses for America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

And that is coming from the mouth of a former NFL quarterback.

Jim Miller, who once had a cup of coffee for Chucky and the Bucs near the end of his career, doesn’t believe Arians is wrong when he blasts Jameis’ teammates for mistakes in the passing game. That’s because, Miller said, Arians has called out Jameis before.

A Bucs fan called Miller’s show, “Moving the Chains,” which he co-hosts with former Bucs scout Pat Kirwan heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio. The Bucs fan was sick of what he perceived as Arians’ favoring Jameis compared to how Arians unloads on the rest of the team in his press conferences.

Miller took exception to the claim. And Miller cited an example of when Arians called out Jameis.

Jim Miller: I think he has been critical on Jameis Winston when he wants to. He said Winston has to throw it away, Week 2. Bruce Arians was quoted as saying, “We need to teach him to quit throwing to the wrong colored jersey.”

Pat Kirwan: Well, he’s done a bad job then.

Kirwan seemed to indicate, for those hung-up on interceptions, that indirectly Jameis is helping out the Bucs financially. Kirwan, a former front office suit for the Jets, believes if the Bucs were to keep Jameis short-term in order to buy some time to find his replacement, the Bucs are likely to get a good bargain if Jameis’ camp isn’t blind to the world.

Kirwan believes Jameis’ options away from the Bucs are very limited and he wouldn’t get anything close to starter’s cash.

Great, the bright side of the screw ups is he’ll be cheaper to re-sign.

  2. AKickInTheBucNuts Says:

    Starter’s cash?

JW will be lucky to be playing in the NFL next year.

  3. Hodad Says:

America’s relief pitcher, toilet bowler Jameis Winston.

  4. Pete I Says:

Keep Jameis playing! He will eventually end the debate on his own. One way or the other.

7-9 – where are the wins coming from? Seattle, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Detroit, Indianapolis, Houston – unlikely

So really two games with Atlanta and a Arizona team. And it would be so like the Bucs to split with Atlanta. 5-11 more likely?

July Joe says Jameis will get paid (well minimum wage is required by law even when waiting tables in Bessemer AL)

  5. Onetrickpony Says:

Everytime I see the words America’s Quarterback in writeing, I wonder who and on what team, it is, they are talking about.

  6. Hodad Says:

Halloween, the time of year when Buc fans start talking draft. Problem is Jason Licht has taken that one joy away also. Fans know what the Glazers can’t figure out. Jason Licht can’t draft worth a sh%t. So with the 4th pick in the first round the Bucs pick, corner back Ida Cantcover from Whats a Matter U!!

  7. Bucsfanman Says:

“Hung up on interceptions,” fumbles, inability to read defenses, poor decision-making, inaccuracy, and coin-flip production (inconsistency) play to play. But, other than that, he’s pretty good.

  8. Jean Lafitte Says:

He doesn’t critique Jameis in the public. His fragile makeup would probably crumble just like when he can’t have a quality backup QB looking over his shoulders.

  9. Go Bucs 73 Says:

I see the Gaytor fans are up early today.

  10. Allbuccedup Says:

    Can anyone see 5-11.

  11. Defense Rules Says:

Just read where the Rams yesterday traded Talib to the Dolphins for a 5th Rnd pick (and gave up a 7th Rnd pick in return). That allowed them to clear Talib’s salary … a mere $4.2 mil.

Now imagine IF this scenario had happened: Bucs get Talib from the Rams for a 5th Rnd pick (and gain a 7th Rnd pick), cut Perriman (who costs us $4.0 mil), and replaces him with Talib. We would have lost a grand total of 3 receptions in 7 games, but gained a veteran, starting-caliber cornerback to help our youngsters mature.

Nah, too easy. Jason Lichtweight could never have pulled it off.

  12. Bird Says:

    Lamarcus

    Tell him he is wrong
He is worth 2-3 1st round picks plus additional picks
    Top 5 pick . HOF
I think you listed like 10-15 teams that would go after him in a heartbeat

  13. Bird Says:

    Defense rules

Totally agree. We need a solid vet in that secondary

  14. ModHairKen Says:

Yeah, the dislike of Jameis’ poor play, multiple turnovers and suspension for feeling up the Uber driver all come from the fact that he played at FSU. Moronic.

I remember when Derrick Brooks was here. He played at FSU, too. I think he was and remains revered.

If you’re going to post, be intellectually honest. Jameis is a failure. A bust. And it has zero to do with where he started college 7 years ago.

  15. Easy Says:

Take that money you “shouldnt” pay Winston and re-sign Barrett and JPP.

  16. DislocatedBucsFan Says:

    4-12

  17. Donnie wish we were better Buc fan Says:

I agree, re-sign JW for the low and start looking for his replacement ASAP. And I’m a FSU fan.

MAINLY, because there rest of the team needs to get better, a lot better. Can’t put a fresh QB or JW replacement behind this line, they will get hurt or worse lose confidence to play QB(like JW). Lots more than QB position that needs to be fixed. Sadly it seem Licht is less than 50/50 on his picks. This could be a long time before we have a winning team 🙁

We have to stop attending games and stop buying team gear to send the message to Glazer’s.

For those who are hung up on interceptions-

If you don’t understand the impact turnovers have on winning and losing,
then you need to take a class in football 101

  19. rhenry Says:

I believe the Rams gave up Talib and a 5th round pick for the Dolphins 7th. This allowed the Rams to clear up 4.2 million to extend Ramsey. Since Talib is on injured reserve until week 15 and a free agent after this season, the Dolphins basically purchased a 5th round pick for 4.2 million. Pretty smart if you can afford it, which they can.

  20. NPRSageBoy Says:

    So, we’re stuck with JayMiss?

    Please it ain’t so!

    Peace, out

  21. 813bucboi Says:

keeping JW would be a horrible idea….lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  22. stpetebucsfan Says:

Has anyone besides DB55 LMAO considered this from JW’s perspective.

At this point money should be irrelevant. He’s had close to 50 million bucks pass through his hands and he’s only 25.

However I think JW has pride and especially athletic pride. If this does…operative word here is IF…blow up JW is still plenty young enough to consider MLB. Perhaps that’s a better road to stardom for him than the NFL. Just thinkin’.

  23. Capt. Tim Says:

    People still bashing the line.
Matt Millan REPEATEDLY pointed out that Winston was well protected, and had a safe pocket. The lines pass protection been good so far this year. Cappa proved to be a big improvement over Benenoch.
Jameis frequently jumps out of the pocket, and brings pressure on himself.

But, excuses are often easier to make, than facing the truth.
I bet 90% of the QBs in this league, would LOVE to run the Bucs Offense

Instead, we have a formula one race car, with a blind driver.
Thats how you build a team that cant get out of the cellar.

  24. Lamarcus Says:

Keep JW. Lock him up. 5 – 175 Mill. 120 guaranteed

But the team still will be garbage

  25. Lamarcus Says:

Well are receiving corps haven’t gotten separation all camp long and thought our secondary played nice. Fooled him. Now our receivers still can’t get separation and secondary gets smoked because VH3 is no Bueno

  26. ModHairKen Says:

    Agree that Hargreaves must go.

  27. Pewter power Says:

Atlanta is top 5 in yards lol classic koetter offense but cant score points, is anyone actually crazy enough to think that is a gimmie game for the bucs? Lol davis and VH3 our rookies are supposed to step on the field with that recieving core and shut em down? Maybe we split but that will be the low point of the season when starters start getting benched.

  28. Pewter power Says:

Capt. Tim-The lines pass protection been good so far this year.

Have you been drinking this morning? The o line WAS playing well and so was winston except that first game in a new offense. Are you not gonna mention that cappa ain’t playing? This o line has been garbage since the saints game when he broke his arm. I want a new quaterback too but that’s bananas what you are saying. What was our record during that 3 game span when he had a quarterback rating over 100, I’ll help you we were 2-1 but would have 3-0 if not for matt gay because he did bring us down the field and put us in field goal position. The o line has been garbage since cappa went down. I dont care if winston ends up mvp of the league we should draft a quarterback regardless because hes inconsistent

But yes you are nuts if you think 90% of qb’s would want to play behind this o line. And yea we are still bashing the line because they are sorry, after 8 games we are the only team to give up sacks to Geraldine so hell yea they suck

  29. TexBuc Says:

I still enjoy watching my bucs and look forward to the remaining games to reserve my judgement then I will put on my armchair GM hat.

  30. unbelievable Says:

I’d be fine with signing him to highly paid backup money until we can draft and develop someone new (or on the off chance that he suddenly becomes consistently good).

But really it doesn’t matter who plays QB for this team until you fix the o-line.

Until then, expect an inconsistent offense and no run game.

Gee, it’s like myself and others have been saying this for years and years and years. I wonder if we’ll ever have someone in charge who realizes football is won and lost in the trenches.

  31. Touchdown, Tampa Bay Says:

Screw the haters. Let’s get it Jameis!!!! Touchdown Tampa Bay!!!
