A Bruce Arians Record On The Line Sunday

October 21st, 2019

On Sunday we will find out whether the sick Bucs culture of losing officially has rubbed off on Bucco Bruce Arians.

Joe has the data.

Through Arians’ five seasons as head coach in Arizona, and during his interim gig taking over as head coach for Chuck Pagano with the Colts, the Bucs head coach never lost three consecutive games in the regular season. NEVER!

The Bucs are riding a two-game skid and head to Tennessee on Sunday.

Joe is very confident it is no coincidence whatsoever that Arians’ clubs didn’t lose three in a row in the regular season. That’s the sign of a coach in command of his team and a coach who makes sound adjustments.

The Bucs are coming out of a bye week Sunday to face a bottom-tier quarterback in Ryan Tannehill. They can win this game. They’re only a 2 1/2-point underdog, per many oddsmakers.

If the Bucs lose, football heaven forbid, Joe will find it extra noteworthy and a sign that Arians is in a rebuild situation for which he has no experience.

The Bucs will lose again this Sunday.

The Bucs always finds ways to lose…….ALWAYS.

I wanna see what Bucco Bruce will do to the team after the loss this Sunday???

  2. H8JWLVEBUCS Says:

Doesn’t matter what happens Sunday everyone here and in Tampa will have a excuse so it doesn’t really matter.

  3. tmaxcon Says:

BA and his nonstop BS is not Tennessee ready

  4. tmaxcon Says:

Like 95% of all buc seasons this one was over before it started

  5. Rayjay1122 Says:

BA better get used to a long losing streak because the secondary is totally fixed! Bwahahaha

  6. D-Rome Says:

The Titans are a decent football team that is a QB away from being a division contender. Both teams really need this game to salvage their season.

By the way, this has never been a “reload” for the Bucs. This season has always been a rebuild.

  7. T REX Says:

    Interesting

  8. Defense Rules Says:

Convinced that the Bucs CAN beat the Titans, but NOT if Jameis turns the ball over like he did in London. IF we play a better ball-control game, we can beat them.

Titans’ DEFENSE is what’s keeping them in games (Titans are now 3-4 on the season). Their defense has only given up 112 pts in 7 games … 16 PPG … AND they’re very CONSISTENT (opponents have scored between 12 to 22 points in those 7 games. And yet they haven’t generated a bunch of defensive turnovers … 3 in the first game but only 6 in the last 6 games.

At the same time though, Titans offense has only turned the ball over a TOTAL of 5 times in 7 games (Bucs surpassed that in the Panthers’ game alone, and we now have 13 TOs). Their offense hasn’t been scoring huge amounts of points (17.3 PPG average), but even that’s misleading because they scored 43 pts in their first game (Browns). Take away that first game, and their offense has averaged 13 PPG.

Still, Tannehill replaced Mariota for the last game & the Titans won (vs Chargers) 23-20 and they did quite well. Titans ran the ball 29 times for 97 yds and threw it 30 times for 323 yds (with 2 TDs & 1 INT). Tannehill completed 80% of his passes against the (2-5) Chargers’ passing defense (rated #5 in passing yds allowed). Of significance, he only threw ONE DEEP PASS all game (complete for 24 yds in the 1st qtr). IOW, Titans won using an EVEN BALANCE of runs and short passes, very well mixed up it looks like. WHODATHUNKIT.

  9. diggler Says:

Ima say it now guys, this bucs team will turn it around. They are just learning to put it all together. They have to iron out the secondary and Winston (see what he’s got). Just hang in there a little longer.

  10. 813bucboi Says:

    imo, JW’s @$$ is on the line….

If BAD JW shows up and we lose this game to another back-up QB coming off a bye it might be time for the griffin show…..

    GO BUCS!!!!!

Stop deflecting pal your little buddy is worst first round pick taken in 10 years by any nfl team. The short, slow, stpuid overdrafted bum has costs bucs more games than the holder of all bucs franchise qb records jameis Winston has. I Can’t wait to watch your midget buddy chase receivers all day Sunday again. That bum hump must be excited he wont be slowest guy on the field Sunday thanks to vh3bust

  12. AKickInTheBucNuts Says:

    Q. Who are the Bucs playing this Sunday?

    A. The Winners.

  13. FanO’Bucs Says:

Take the qb’s away.. which has a better team?

  14. Pewter power Says:

This is not a gimmie game and if you think it is you dont watch football. Tannehill is much more reliable than MM and you don’t have to be a top tier quarterback to destroy the Bucs. Their better everywhere except receiver top to bottom

  15. D-Rome Says:

Agreed on all points, Pewter Power. It would not surprise me one bit if Tannehill had a career day against the Bucs.

  16. Allbuccedup Says:

Bottom tier Ryan Tannehill will have a field day against the bucs stout secondary.

  17. Who Cares Says:

    I’ll take the over.

  18. Pete I Says:

Tannehill played very solid and is a step above MM. He is more confident when he decided to throw and he throws accurately and quickly, something MM often doesn’t do.

  19. ITS ABOUT TIME !! Says:

the season is over …. we should be planning and playing the for the draft….

  20. Alanbucsfan Says:

    TMax-

the holder of all bucs franchise qb records jameis Winston has.

Do you mean turnovers or losses?

  21. Bob in Valrico Says:

No competition at QB was not well thought out. Tennessee had a backup replace the starter and produced a win. We can’t replace Jameis because Arians is afraid
of giving Jameis competition and unwilling to have a competent backup. If you have to depend on a QB with a fragile Psyche, with no trusted backup, then you reap what you sew. Thanks BA. Whispering aint working, try yelling.

  22. Allbuccedup Says:

Release Perriman, get fourth round pick, trade Brate for 5th rounder, if JPP has a good game see what you can get for him if it’s not a 4th or 5th rounder keep him.

  23. Allbuccedup Says:

If they lose against Titans, have a fire sale pile up the draft picks.

  24. NPRSageBoy Says:

Tennessee beat the Chargers yesterday behind a backup named Tannehill. It’s over

what are they going sell…. they have nothing of value… you can find better nfl talent at a storage facility auction than bucs organization….

not sure how piling up a bunch of 6th and 7th round draft picks will help.

you a funny guy…. put the bottle down it’s early in the week for hard stuff…

  27. Sharthappens Says:

Big difference with his team this year. Poor QB play along with suspect players at every position. Think of it this way: you would be hard pressed to find 5 players on our team that could make the Pats team.

  28. Tye Says:

He’s never had a Jameis after the bye to deal with…

The Titans are the better team top to bottom… Especially defense… Between the two outcomes, a Bucs win would be the shocker…
Arians underestimated the mess he was agreeing to accept when he took this job… He is losing the battle.

  29. July Joe Says:

I wish Mariota was still starting, as if you bottled up the run game when he was the Titans QB, it was an easy win, as Mariota can’t push the ball down the field or throw to WR’s to save his life.

However, Tannehill is at least a guy who can throw the football … it wouldn’t surprise me to see him light up Tampa’s terrible pass defense for 300+ yards … and we all know the Titans defense is WAY BETTER than the Bucs defense and the Titans run game is WAY BETTER than the Bucs run game.

This game could come down to coaching, and while I think Arians is a better coach than Vrabel … Vrabel is a heck of a coach, laid a beat down on Belichick and has won many games against teams he should have been crushed by.

    Titans 27 – Bucs 23

  30. Ryan Thompson Says:

Oh boy, if these comments are indicative of Bucs FANS, I hate see what our haters say.

We’ll see; the team has flashes of competence, the Dolphins and the Bengals haven’t won a game yet, and people here are acting like this is the worst NFL team we’ve ever seen. HELL it’s not even the worst Jameis Winston led Bucs team we’ve ever had.

If it wasn’t for turnovers, we’re in every loss this year… that’s not a talent problem, that’s not a skill problem, it’s a COACHING issue, a PERSONAL issue, things that can be fixed.

  31. tmaxcon Says:

    Ryan Thompson

excuse me but it’s 2019 and the bucs have not won a meaningful game since 2002 season so please take your flashes of competence turnover BS and politely shove it up your arse….

  32. July Joe Says:

^ The Bucs were 9-7, finished in 2nd place and only missed the playoffs on a “tie-breaker” when Jameis was just 22 years old. They won meaningful games that year and had a better team resume than the Lions who won the silly “tie-breaker” to get into the playoffs even though the Lions didn’t beat one flipping playoff team that year and the Bucs beat multiple playoff teams that year.

That was also the ONLY year JW has ever had even a league average defense.

  33. tmaxcon Says:

    July joe

Raise your standards only meaningful wins are post season wins…

    ——————–

Bob, you are spot on. Forget Winston melting down…what if he was injured? Arians said this was a playoff team. If you truly believed that then why not a decent back up? Gabbert? Give me a break. Just another retirement fund for a coach and his buddies. The Glazers are pure trash.

  36. JameisAlmighty! Says:

The thing in life to look forward to…. at least the Mariota argument is dead. Jameis will rise to the occasion and secure the victory! In Jameis I Trust!

  37. Dan Says:

The titans are a much better team than us and Tannehill is a better quarterback than Winston. Defensively they will shut us down.
