“We Take The Field To Win, Not To Play Close, Not To Play Good”

September 30th, 2019

It wasn’t the same old Bucs yesterday, and that felt damn good.

They would not be denied and maybe, just maybe, that’s evidence of Bucco Bruce Arians ridding the Bucs of the stench and infection of losing that has plagued their locker room for many years.

Arians have talked about how Arians doesn’t hide that he’s trying to drill a winning mentality into them. And after the game Arians was at it again in the happy postgame locker room, as caught be NFL cameras below, “We take the field to win, not to play close, not to play good.

Enjoy the video below, and also enjoy the sweet feeling of wearing your Bucs shirt around town today without being laughed it. That might be the best part of Joe’s Monday.

    Love it! GO BUCS!!

  2. ChanEpic Says:

Looking forward to many more of these.

  3. ClodHopper Says:

In the boxing match with the culture, BA won this round.

  4. FortMyersDave Says:

What a difference a week makes! Winning makes for a good Monday unlike the rotten raunchy hungover feeling all Buc fans felt after the collapse at Ray Jay last week. No trolling of the Bucs by the national pundits or Proctor and Gamble with their deodorant commercial trolling Gay for getting the yips in the Den Of Depression last week. Secondary still gave up yards ala Mike Smith but all that matters is the Bucs won and won big. The Ram fans are all bent out of shape over this one! Go Bucs, lets see if they can march into the Big Easy and beat Teddy Bridgewater who could not find the endzone vs the Cowgirls.

Great win!!! but feel bad for Cichy, broken arm after that tackle he took trying to break his fall. Gonna be out for the season most likely.

  6. mark2001 Says:

Wow…sounds like a real HC that loves and lives for winning football. Nice to have one in town again.

  7. Ryanbucsfan Says:

Can Dean please get healthy!! Hargreaves is a liability and consistently gets beat. He needs to be in the nickel role instead of M.J. I’d even rather take my chances with Ryan Smith on the outside instead of Hargreaves!

  8. Allbuccedup Says:

Byron Jones would help next year along with a long term deal for Shaq B. Get the rest of your needs they the draft.

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We need a RT in round 1 or 2 next year……other than that….BPA is fine.

And, here is the good news….(don’t shoot me)…..we have perhaps our best cornerback joining the team this week…..Ryan Smith, and he is very good on ST where we need some help also.

  10. 813bucboi Says:

    The culture is changing!!!!!!!

    GO BUCS

  11. stpetebucsfan Says:

TBBF Not shooting you, you are correct sir.

Like everyone here I’ve had my hopes lifted so frequently only to be dashed…it’s a Bucs life! But this seems different.

JW played great! WR’s played great! We expected that…but the OL and ROJO also balled out. LB’s…obviously Sack Barrett and LVD balled out and we have perhaps our best LB talent still waiting to make his impression. DB’s are still young and learning and as TBBF said we may be getting our best DB back soon.

Two scenes on the sideline made me feel that this team is tight…and buying into BA’s message. I’m sure Joe can see this as well in more than just two scenes.

In the waning seconds I saw JW and Jensen in a moment that spoke a lot to me…they had the look of two guys who had just successfully survived being in the foxhole together…two warriors who respected each other’s effort….that’s LEADERSHIP JW…we don’t need rah rah speeches….what JW is doing quietly behind the scenes is critical. Too bad someone didn’t teach him this a little earlier to save all the pain and “hate”. Eating W’s going viral was tough.

The other scene…BA hasn’t been very emotional up till yesterday. After Suh’s scoop and score to seal the game or thereabouts…BA ran up and hugged JW like I plan to hug my son when he arrives for a visit Sunday night. It was touching to watch two guys who have endured so much hell TOGETHER hug it up in an intensely satisfying emotional way.

Yeah go ahead TMAX and call me a snowflake for enjoying the personal satisfaction and dare I call it love? This team is getting bonded. I’m loving what I see…as a snowflake of course.

The Bucs looked like a solid football team yesterday. The Bucs got stops when they needed it and they scored when they needed it. Even with the defense giving up 40 we all need to remember that the Rams have bonafide stars at 3 WR positions and at RB, not to mention two very good TEs.

  13. Buc4evr Says:

Smith comes back which is great, but if we can get JPP back this team will be hard to beat. Shaq and JPP along with Vea and Suh will be scary.

  14. The Buc Realist Says:

The offense is 4th in scoring and 10th in yards
The Defense is 30th for pts per game and 20th in yards allowed,

Pretty much the same from last year, except the first 4 games were much more daunting and about 2/3 of the defense was injured!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Hank Rearden Says:

    Troll #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was their 3RD year in Smitty’s defense…..and they were worse.

  16. LordCornelius Says:

“Pretty much the same from last year”

    2018 first 4 games: 8 sacks / 13 passes defended / 1 interception / 4 fumble recoveries – 5 total turnovers – 1 defensive TD

    2019 first 4 games: 11 sacks / 20 passes defended / 4 interceptions / 5 fumble recoveries – 9 total turnovers / 2 defensive TDs

About double the amount of turnovers and secondary players getting hands on balls. The pass rush pressure is also visibly much better but we’ve given up too many big scores / plays.

Gotta clean that up, but at least this defense is making more plays so far compared to last year, in year 1 of a new system vs Smitty having 3 years to mold that crap we saw

  17. StonedBuc Says:

Everyone mocked jamies for eating Ws and they troll him. But now eere gonna start munching em down and dipping them in different sauces and every one is gonna start to recognize that we are the predators and they are the prey.

Im eating with winston and im dipping my W in some melted butter!!!

  18. Howard Cosell Says:

Howard still expects the glazers to step in behind the scene and destroy this team….. again……. for the 1000th time LOL…

That said, Howard is impressed with the Arains regime so far:

    * Winston playing his best ball ever (#QB whisperer)

    * Suddenly the Bucs have a badarse running game spearheaded
by a kid who sucked last year under Koetter

    * Oline is playing cohesively

    * Defense is still lacking talent but Bowles appears to be using
what he has brilliantly (unlike his predecessors)

In summary appears to be too good to be true and HOward fully
expects the annual implosion to arrive anytime LOL!
    Go Arains!

  19. Jean Lafitte Says:

Even after it seemed apparent the refs were trying to let the Rams back in the game.
