Vita Vea Returns To Practice

September 3rd, 2019

Injury update.

This a fantastic sign, but don’t get swept up in ecstasy yet.

Buccaneers manbeast defensive tackle Vita Vea was back practicing today for the first time since injuring his knee nearly a month. Buccaneers.com reporter Scott Smith shared the good news via Twitter.

Now there’s no word whether Vea was full-go, meaning practicing without limitations. And Joe doesn’t expect the Bucs to be practicing in pads until tomorrow, when the first injury report of the season is due.

Bruce Arians had said Vea would be fitted for a brace and was coming along well.

What’s Vea’s conditioning level? How stable is the knee? Both are key questions for a guy who might asked to play two games in five days; the Bucs play at Carolina next week on Thursday Night Football.

Joe hopes the Bucs medical staff plays this just right. Vea is a critical cog going forward. That written, Joe is fired up for the chance of Vea playing alongside Ndamukong Suh during an opening day choke-out of the 49ers.

here is where bucfan gets all excited about a player who has yet to complete a full season and has only had a couple of good plays much less strining a8 to 10 good games together in his career. yet he is being counted on to carry the dline lol…. it’s a bucs life… nobody gives out free passes to unproven players like a desperate bucfan….

They will most likely list him as questionable.

I would rather Vea take the time he needs to heal correctly than rush and risk injury that takes more time to heal.

Awesome news but I doubt he plays more than 50%. Conditioning will definitely be a factor.

  9. Greg Says:

You tell him Bucallnight. If someone has a losing mentality before the season even starts chances are they’re just a plain loser. Go Bucs. Hell I’m even rooting for Jameis! LOL

  10. Cobraboy Says:

I suspect Vea will play. He wasn’t hurt that badly. No need to push him on the PS, the coaches know what he can do.

Yes, conditioning could be a factor, but he was in decent shape when he got hurt and it won’t be that difficult to get much of it back.

He won’t play. It a ruse fo the 49ers.

  16. Hodad Says:

Watching college games the last few days, you notice most O linemen, and some D linemen wear knee braces on both legs. I know pros don’t like wearing them, but if I’m a HC, all my linemen are wearing them for every practice, and preseason game. Had Vea been wearing a brace maybe he doesn’t get hurt at all. When the games count, I don’t care about the brace, but before they do wear em.

  17. JimmyJack Says:

Awesome he’s back on the field. Just wish we knew he was a full go. We need VitaV big-time.

Stopping the run on SanFran is a big deal. If we could make Garapollo run a one dimensional offense I don’t see him standing much of a chanse.

I think so too. Arians is the type who tells his guy to play thru the pain. That said, I would not be horribly upset if they waited a week to make sure.

To be fair, I notice the typos as well. I just rarely mention them. But Steel is right that there is a mistake:

‘Vita Vea was back practicing today for the first time since injuring his knee nearly a month {ago}.’

  22. Wesley Says:

They’re so cautious with these guys I highly doubt he plays. Heck he may not play the following week also.

  23. Anonymous Says:

If he will be 150% by week 2…sit him against the niners no brainer…..the schedule wont allow that chance ….dont get greedy bucs
