The Power Of Vea

September 3rd, 2019

“Powerful.”

Sometimes, it is not what a coach says about a player but how he says it that gives folks a true window into a coach’s mindset.

And so it was the case with Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians this afternoon when he answered a question about Bucs stud defensive tackle Vita Vea.

When Arians was asked what  impact Vea can make if he is available Sunday to kick off the season at the Den of Depression to face the 49ers, paired with Ndamukong Suh, before the question was finished Arians reacted with, “Ooohhh!” shaking his head.

“That is a powerful inside,” Arians said of Vea playing next to Suh. “Not just space-eaters. These are guys that can rush the passer and eat up blocks and free up linebackers.”

And that is the key with many inside defensive linemen, how they can keep occupy traffic to free the linebackers to make plays.

Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles likes guys flying to the ball. If linebackers don’t have the big uglies all over their backsides (and frontsides), it’s easy to fly to the ball.

Folks on here (joe included) were moaning and groaning over what they felt were a lack of splash plays from Devin White during the pre season. Jack had a sack against the cowgirls. During the interview in the locker room after the game he said “it was easy, the 3-tech on that play drew two blockers. Giving me a few run to the QB”. I’m like, you people honestly don’t think 4.42 Devin White won’t be able to do the same behind Vea and Suh??? Really???

This D is about to devastate. 6 and 10,2 and 14 or 7 and 9 like jbf predicting. Hmm,we about to soon see about that.

  5. Cobraboy Says:

Vea and Suh make as impressive DL duo as almost anywhere in the NFL.

Win loss predictions are pretty comical. People could try to predict season win loss totals after week 16 and still only 50% be correct. Bottom line is nobody has a clue or else there would be a line of future millionaires standing in line at Ceasars Palace placing their life savings plus loans all in on the Bucs record.

Not sure what BucAllNight is drinking but I’ll have one.

  8. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

According to the depth chart for the game, Vea will be starting, so it seems he’s healthy enough now. Cool.

  9. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Wow, TJ Logan listed as the kick returner?

I have a feeling we put up 5+ sacks on sunday!

If our corners play tight and someone can cover Kittle, we should do well.

  13. Billy_45 Says:

I bet Garabthehole as Jameis puts it, throws 3 picks and the Bucs Cruz.
    5 sacks sounds right.

D will be flying and the commentation will be 49ers QB looked rusty.
    35~10 Bucs

  14. Billy_45 Says:

Oh, and I can’t wait to see Kwon take a bad angle on Rojo and he busts a 59 yard TD.

Bout time we see that on a DIFFERENT team.
