The Bucs’ First Injury Report

September 4th, 2019

Rookie safety Mike Edwards

Bucs fans haven’t seen a fresh injury report since December. Teams don’t have to drop their pants on this subject until a real game week.

And now we have one.

There are 10 banged up and healing Buccaneers. The greatest news is that Lavonte David and Vita Vea are back practicing. However, they were “limited” in practice today. That tells Joe their snaps will be limited Sunday, as well. That’s understandable and not necessarily a bad thing with a Thursday night game up next.

Rookie safety Mike Edwards, listed as a starter on the Bucs’ depth chart, was limited with a hamstring injury that has sidelined him since the first preseason game. Fellow rookie, DE Anthony Nelson, was back at full strength on his healing knee.

Wednesday’s Bucs injury list:

Antony Auclair (calf) Limited
Devante Bond (hamstring) Limited
Cameron Brate (calf) Limited
Lavonte David (knee) Limited
Mike Edwards (hamstring) Limited
Anthony Nelson (knee) full participation
Vita Vea (knee) limited
Justin Evans (Achilles) didn’t practice
Blaine Gabbert (shoulder) did not practice
Demone Harris (illness) did not practice

Justin Evans was looking pretty good before he got hurt last year. Too bad.

  2. Defense Rules Says:

That’s 10 players out of 53 who are banged up, and 5 of them are potential starters (all but 1 of those 5 on defense). Injuries to our defense killed us last year. HOPEFULLY this isn’t a precursor to what this year will be about. We need all hands on deck to have even a fighting chance of a winning record.

  3. DB55 Says:

I see 3 names that shouldn’t even be on the roster.

  4. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

I continue to be disappointed about Justin Evans. I’m beginning to wonder if he’ll ever come back. I like him when healthy, but that’s not very often.

  5. Clw JB Says:

Griff will be the QB2 this week

We have no one to rotate with ShaqB at RDE with Harris out -3 OLB rotation unless Bond slides over and he has a bum hammy too

Evans and Edwards still hurt…lots of Whitehead and Stewart this week with Buchanon as the third S

Auclair and Brate limited, can Tanner get the call week 1?

We need to expose their weak LB core with our TE and RB’s early and often

They have a great DLine, but the back end…a work in progress

  6. Tmaxcon Says:

I’m pretty excited about this season guys

  7. Ship thief Says:

    Yes

At least we’re playing at home so Harris has some time to get right. If Bond is activated it could be right before kickoff.

  9. JimmyJack Says:

Really happy to hear VitaV and David are back on the field. Especially with Vita this seems like the best case scenario from what it sounded like when the injury occurred.

Very disappointed that Justin Evans hasn’t managed to get on the field in so long. Was hopefully that he could get back some time during training camp. I’m writing him off as a Buccaneer. At this point if he can manage to go be us anything I’ll consider it a bonus. Hope Mike Edwards can hold his own. Didn’t remember even noticing him in any preseason game.

  10. JimmyJack Says:

Can I say J. Evans? For some reason his name sends me to moderation. Really wierd filter since he is a player on the team.

  11. ir8oldman Says:

Did somebody hack TMax’s account? No negative bs? Tmax? Really?

  12. Joe in Michigan Says:

Thanks for the positive post, Tmaxcon…Albeit sarcasm. Hahaha

  13. Ptwalk Says:

Bond is no longer an ILB, he’s now an OLB. And I believe that everybody that practiced on a limited basis will play on a limited basis, so we’ll be fine.

  14. Buc Raybolt Says:

FYI Joe, they showed the Bucs on the last episode of Hard Knocks. Gruden was showing his RBs film on how to block. They showed Bell and Woodhead as good examples. Then, they showed Dare as a bad example (vs. Browns). Gruden said he was looking all over the place and missed Vernon stunting inside. Vernon got a clean sack on Winston that play.

  15. Excuses starting early and will come often Says:

BA will quit after this season if he even makes it that far and Jason Gump will be allowed to hire ANOTHER failed coach and we be stuck in the suck pit. But hey the Glazers are raking in the dough so they are happy.

  16. Lamarcus Says:

Talk about survival….. Look at Bond!!! Still here man? I think he can rush the passer he did good there but he is no Linebacker. Joe you hype this guy to be the best pure form tackler over LVD…… Huge problem Bond can never get into position to make it happen. He lacks it so bad that it looks like he is loafing. He did good this preseason and looks like a gem in the pass rush. I got to give it to him not sold on the tackling thing. He has about 20 career tackles in 4 years

  17. Ptwalk Says:

Think they may use Bond as a pass rusher primarily. He can play some LB.

  18. Buccaroo Says:

Will both T.J. Logan and Bobo Wilson dress?

    Will they dress 4 RB’s?

  19. #1bucsfan Says:

Someone hacked T M A X I P A Ds account no way he actually said something that wasn’t negative.

What exactly is the point of posting this on a Bucs fan website? I mean how miserable of a human being do you have to be to feel this way for no reason and zero proof.

  21. DooshLaRue Says:

That wasn’t tmax above (tmaxcon not Tmaxcon) and you don’t have to hack an account, you only have to type in a screen name.
I know because I somehow posted as webster awhile back and the little guy lost his mine….. but it really was an honest mistake!

  22. Sport Says:

Tmax -. That was epic. You do have a sense of humor.

As Sgt Hulka stated to Psycho “Lighten up Francis”

    And you did.

    So proud.

    In BA I Trust

    stop it!!!!!!!too funny!!!!!!! Lol!

  24. macabee Says:

Pay little attention to Wednesday’s Bucs injury list. The list to watch is Sunday’s inactive list. The 46 will matter. Go Bucs!

  25. Ndog needs to go to obedience school Says:

Ndog… cirticizeing a poster for their opinion is something that the national media does to our great President everyday. You must have some objective to doing this. Are you in bed with the Glazers or just plain misinformed?

  26. Kevinator24 Says:

Harris was held out due to illness, he’ll be fine for game day

  27. SenileSenior Says:

I too am pretty excited about the season.

I am hoping for the best, but I won’t be crushed by the the worst outcome. Tempered expectations.

  28. Hodad Says:

Justin Evans was average at best when healthy. When he was picked in the second round of the draft I said, who, what, why? I soon got a call from my son who said the same thing. He missed so much action Buc fans actually believe he was sooo good before his injuries. It’s just not true. He was the back end of the worst secondary we’ve ever seen. If he wasn’t another failed second round pick he would’ve been gone a long time ago. Licht knows it, why do you think he keeps drafting, and bringing in safeties. Waste of money, and a roster spot, that’s what Justin Evans really is.

  29. Pittsshore Says:

Cut the hurt guys and move on. They don’t help us in street clothes

  30. FireJasonLicht Says:

TMaxipad is obviously bipolar. He does absolutely nothing but trash this team and EVERY player on it and now hes excited for this season!lmao take your meds pal!!

  31. Spike Says:

NdoNg should NOT be allowed to offer his P brain opinion on this blog. I’m fully convinced that Bowles defense is right there with that of Kiffin’s and we know the offense had no difficulty putting points on the board last year. I’m predicting a 9/7 season in spite of the overrated, way over paid receiver by the name of Mike Evans who will likely drop more passes than he holds onto again this season. Fortunately BA will never tolerate it and may actually put him on the trading block as soon as it’s possible. GO BUCS!
