Only The Bucs

September 9th, 2019

Hollywood-inspired Bucs history.

Reading the following, for whatever reason Joe’s crazed brain immediately went to George C. Scott.

The famed actor won an Academy Award for portraying one of America’s greatest generals as he was cast to play Gen. George Patton in the movie “Patton.”

There, Scott filmed perhaps the most iconic opening scene in film history when he, as Patton, offered a monologue to American troops.

Scott as Patton, said, “Thirty years from now when you are sitting around your fireside with your grandson on your knee, and he asks what you did in the great World War II, you won’t have to say, ‘Well [sigh], I shoveled sh!t in Louisiana.’”

Again, for reasons not quite clear, Joe thought of this upon reading what America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston did yesterday.

Jameis had a rotten game yesterday. And unfortunately, he is running out of games to show the Bucs’ shot-callers he deserves to earn $30 million a year and stick around. The Bucs could bring back Stewart McClown to throw pick-sixes at a far less expensive rate.

In most NFL cities, if a team was on the verge of unloading its record-setting quarterback, the very earth would move beneath our feet. Just look at how Giants fans melted down when Eli Manning was benched two years ago. They went mental.

In Tampa Bay, just the opposite is occurring. Legions of Bucs fans cannot wait to run off Jameis, despite him holding a franchise record for passing yards.

Joe is convinced that some Bucs fans were high-fiving each each other when Jameis threw his fatal second pick-six yesterday that sealed a Bucs loss. Not that they were rooting for the 49ers, but the 49ers’ pick-six meant Jameis was a step closer to being run.

#ItsABucsLife

So yeah, if Jameis doesn’t improve in the next 15 games, team records or not, it’s a safe bet he will be a Bucs quarterback no longer.

And as a result, he will likely be shoveling sh!t somewhere as a backup, but perhaps not in Louisiana.

Only Hollywood could invent such a script.

Joe has written the same script for a certain player for 4 plus years

Obsessed joe is one creepy clueless dude.

  2. Bucnjim Says:

No Real Bucs fans were high fiving yesterday trust me! Did I expect that pick six after the first three quarters of play? Yep!

  3. thunderchunkyPA Says:

Joe, here is the problem, the bar is set SO LOW that this record means jack crap. I was not cheering when ATM threw ANOTHER pick six, this time with a chance to win the game. I was frustrated and sad. We were ALL told that under BA things would be different, after this meltdown, how are fans supposed to feel and react? How can we now have the ” oh hell here we go again” syndrome? We have been beaten down, watching this franchise live in the basement of the NFC South and the NFC for over a decade. I know, one game does not a season make, but this is 4 plus years of #3 throwing up on his shoes.

  4. Colonel Angus Says:

Eli won 2 Super Bowls, both against the Patriots and one of them was against the undefeated Patriots. That gets you legendary status in any city.

  5. Pete I Says:

Jameis ” meaningless stats ” Winston

Now has the most meaningless stat of all in Tampa History. Bully! Way to go Jameis!

    21-34

  6. Bird Says:

    Joe subjective reporting . Com

  7. K2 Says:

There is no way Jameis deserves a big contract…at this point he should be playing in the NFL. That was his poorest game…time to move on.

  8. K2 Says:

shouldn’t be play in the NFL

  9. LargoBuc Says:

Kwon Alexander recieved the game ball after getting ejected yesterday. Tired of this punk arse team. I mean it’s bad enough this team comes out flat week one at home, but how does that not get our offense lit? Flat line offense, crappy quarterback play. Grow a pair. And Jameis needz to get his head out of his

  10. Wombat Says:

    Stats are for losers……

  11. Chosen One Says:

When I think of Jameis and his “thinnest kid at fat camp” stats, I’m not reminded of George Scott. I’m reminded of MICHAEL Scott.

  12. thunderchunkyPA Says:

Chosen One, I was thinking the smartest kid in remedial math. Once again, the bar is set so low, it is meaningless.

  13. Bird Says:

    Chosen one

    😂

  14. Bucnjim Says:

The only stats that matter are yesterday’s!
Winston: Last in QB rating 44%
    Winston: first in turnovers 3

The collective Tampa area sports media has been “shoveling sh** for 5 years”….Gawd I miss tuning in to WDAE @ 3…RIP Chris & Steve….Jameis is the SAME QB today as he was in college, only thing is he is not playing on a superior talent stacked team….he is playing against pros and is in over his head…some folks saw this before he was drafted, unfortunately they have been proved to have been correct in evaluating Jamyth

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Jameis doesn’t have 15 games to straighten things out…..he has about 5…..because if he continues to fail, he will be yanked….the decision will have been made and RG4 will finally get his first NFL regular game snap.

Licht & all the coaches will not cruise to another 5-11 or worse season with Jameis….they can withstand doing it with a backup but not Jameis.

  17. Bird Says:

Tells us about that FSU vs Pitt game again

When he moved your needle for the first time.
What a great story that was.

  18. Allbuccedup Says:

Real buc fans only want a consistent winning franchise not a inconsistent clown show filled with preseason hype and bs.

  19. Chris l Says:

No “bucs” fan ever cheers for him to do bad. If they do they are not fans. People are fed up with his turnovers joe. Some people probably had pre conceived notions before he was drafted too because of turnovers and his character off the field allegedly. But bottom line where is the production. Yards don’t mean anything as most of those come in garbage time when we are down by so much. Bottom line he has absolutely sucked. Even when we played well in 2016 it was the defense and not him. Please don’t say any criticism of jameis is due to people wanting him to fail. That’s a shot at fans and your readers because we criticize players.

  20. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

I feel the Clueless joe is ok with losing as long as Jameis throws for a lot of stats

No one wants Jameis to play like this but his erratic play makes you sick that he isn’t improving

  21. Pittsshore Says:

Click bait. Trying to get a reaction when writing an article about this loser.

  22. Dan Says:

Joe. Why in the world do we need 15 more games. We have been watching the exact same thing for 5 years now. Only the Bucs would reward a General Manager with a loosing record and keep a qb around who has been a bust from
day one in that amazing meltdown against the Titans. When a qb shows you who he is BELIEVE HIM!

  23. Armybucsfan Says:

    Hey joe,

Here’s another record Jameis broke with yesterday’s embarrassing performance: since his start in 2015 Jameis has had 61 INT’s, and 18 fumbles lost for a grand total of 79 turnovers.

  24. Slugglife Says:

A lot of qbs looked like crap yesterday. It wasnt just Jameis.

Probably need to see what the record is after 6 games and make a decision then. Im willing to bet there will be no QB whispering in todays QB meeting.

  25. alaskabuc Says:

So he’s managed to pile up garbage touchdowns and yardage at the backend of games he already had lost. Where does he rank in win %. The truly important stat

  26. adam from ny Says:

winston’s feet were much happier yesterday than dilfer’s feet ever were…not used to seeing that from him…

    #HappyFeetWinston #EatingW’sCausesHappyFeet

  27. Coburn Says:

Here is the sad thing. There are several reasons people could be calling for Licht’s head and many would say choice of qb is one of main ones. They would say most gms only get one crack at a franchise qb and especially #1. Sadly I don’t see any way Licht comes put of that draft looking favourably. We all knew we needed a qb and picking that high he basically had to pick Winston or Mariota. I personally wanted Mario ta but neither has lived up to their draft status. What a crappy year to go qb.. now as I mentioned there are several other poor choices Licht made so if he gets the can I wot she’d any tears.

  28. adam from ny Says:

i think jameis wore a burgundy suit to his post game presser…

doesn’t he know the ron burgundy look is off limits already…

even licht finally retired that sweat filled stank armpit burgundy sports coat he used to rock…

    #FameisEmbracesTheRonBurgundyLookIn2019 🙂

  29. K2 Says:

Jameis had a really bad game. My early point was that he did not look like a starting NFL QB. Hopefully, he will rebound…the team and fans deserve better.

  30. BUC CHEEKS Says:

WHO………………….CARES?!!! F his stats, America’s deer in headlights SUCKED!!! Fact. That was embarrassing, the walk out of the stadium felt like a death march. Smdh. Another performance like this, YOU BETTER PUT GRIFFIN IN. Or I’m not coming to another game! FACT. F’n Bucs life. So upsetting.

  31. adam from ny Says:

maybe jameis can do his post game presser after the thursday night carolina game wearing the jason licht burgundy sports coat and rocking bucco bruces red kangol…that would be an awesome look!

    #DoItJameisDoIt 🙂

  32. Old School Athlete Says:

Comparing Jameis to Eli is like comparing the Glazers to the Rooneys.

  33. adam from ny Says:

i predict a major bounce back game for jameis…

you heard it from adam first!

  36. Rayjay1122 Says:

14,820 yards passing but maybe 10,000 of those yards were garbage time gimme yards?

  37. Fartman Says:

Jameis sucks and its the fans fault? Got it.

I think most of us would be pretty happy to be wrong about the guy… unfortunately, Joe was wrong and we we right.

  38. passthebuc Says:

JW would have been the soldier Patton slapped.

  39. mark2001 Says:

Remember when we used to say…just look at AR…he carried a clip board for two years before he blossomed into a HOF QB? Now we are left with the organization pumping up Jamieis’s yardage accomplishments, many racked up in come behind attempts, by teams that had the lions share of yardage through the air because we had no run game, in a more pass friendly era, while ignoring the plethora of games lost in QB fumbles and interceptions. I’m starting to believe Jameis be more than what we have seen on the field…a guy that holds the ball too long, can’t hit the deep ball, locks on to receivers, who starts playing reactively under pressure, and has questionable decision making skills. And unfortunately, those things happen far too often for a guy that we would hope to become a successful and consistent starting NFL QB.

  40. TampaTown Says:

If anything I think JW is being over coached. Too many voices in his ear, and everyone of them trying to change him.

  41. gotbbucs Says:

He does not have it in him to make smart decisions, be it on a football field or in life in general. There’s a long criminal history record and game film library to prove both facts.
He is unsalvageable and we will all have to suffer through another wasted season before the check writers ultimately will have to come to that hard realization.

  42. Hodad Says:

No Joe, I paid good money to watch that game at a sports bar yesterday. I was hoping Jameis would prove to us he belongs here for the long haul. He was set up to be the hero of the day, with a two minute come back victory. I ordered another beer, and before I could take a sip Jameis throws a pick six on his first play. I never root for any Buc to fail, and I don’t have to root for Jameis to fail now so he can be replaced. Trust me, he’ll fail all on his own. I’ve seen enough.

  43. Old School Athlete Says:

TampaTown you may have a point, but that last pick he put right in the defenders hands. There wasn’t a Buc in the vicinity. Not even close. That’s not coaching. That’s either not seeing the field or panicking. Either way, it results in L’s.

  44. 813bucboi Says:

I think he passed Blake brotels for most ints in 5years….

Play calling was good….defense played well….3picks did us in….

    GO BUCS

  45. D-Rome Says:

In Tampa Bay, just the opposite is occurring. Legions of Bucs fans cannot wait to run off Jameis, despite him holding a franchise record for passing yards.

    Irrelevant.

What is more relevant is that no QB since 2015 has thrown more INTs and had more turnovers than Jay-Miss WinsTOn. I even Tweeted at you yesterday that Jay-Miss would have his predictable “I’ve just got to get better” comments in his post-game presser.

I don’t care that he’s the franchise leader in yards because that guy is not leading this team anywhere.

  46. 813bucboi Says:

Kwon did Winston a favor and dropped a pick that he threw right to him….

    GO BUCS

  47. D-Rome Says:

We have been beaten down, watching this franchise live in the basement of the NFC South and the NFC for over a decade.

thunderchunkyPA, The fans deserve better than to be beaten down like this as a fan base. I was at the game yesterday and I think the fans are fantastic. All of us that follow the team and consume all the news care, which is why Jay-Miss’ performance is so maddening.

We ALL know how this story is going to end with Jay-Miss and the Bucs. There’s almost no sense in continuing with him. He’s not the guy.

  48. Anonymous Says:

“Legions of Bucs fans cannot wait to run off Jameis, despite him holding a franchise record for passing yards.” Stupity abound from a hack who thinks this is America’s QB. Winston is just another of a long steam of QBs drafted who didn’t work out. His record is of “garbage yards” that mean nothing.

Jameis is not getting run off. He is only reinforceing why he doesn’t deserve another contract as a starting QB.

  49. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

#1 things is get rid of jason licht he is an incompetent GM and has built a horrible team. NOS BOS, where you at buddy, stale biscuit was going to show us all what real coaching looks like. The niners have a solid defense, but that offense is garbage and the bucs on defense aside from 2-3 plays by suh looked about the same. No pressure and WRs running free all over

  50. mark2001 Says:

Tampatown…he isn’t “overcoached”…in fact, he plays little differently than he did six years ago. And that is a big part of the problem…some people just don’t take to coaching…or learning.

And Dusthy..might be right on that…but don’t include any players drafted during the Lovie years…Lovie called all the shots during those years.. and that includes the drafting of Jameis.

  51. Anonymous Says:

Franchise QBs win when it counts. Like yesterday. This isn’t about how Winston ends the season (again) after they are already irrelevent. He lost it yesterday because he was able to play and did. Last year, he wasn’t allowed near the team and he hurt them for that. He’s a loser.

No, it’s not how he’d better improve in the next 15 games. That’s just dumb to write. That ship sailed two years ago. He helps his team poop it up early on, it doesn’t matter how he finishes. And stink it up early and finish strong is vintage Winston. The QB this team doesn’t need.

  52. mark2001 Says:

Anonymous… Franchise QB’s win big games and play rather consistently. They have ebbs and flows, but not huge cycles.. boom or bust. We never know which Jameis is going to show up…Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde.

  53. Matt Says:

“No real Bucs fan is cheering for Jameis to do badly”

Real Bucs fan here; suffered through the 80s / early 90s. Currently suffering again.

I’m rooting for Jameis to fail.

You want to compare him to Eli Manning, how about these comparisons:

    Eli Manning: 2 Super Bowls
    Jameis Winston: 0 Super Bowls

Eli Manning: 0 Civil Settlements w/ women for sexual assault claims
Jameis Winston: 2 Civil Settlements w/ women for sexual assault claims

Jameis is a failure on the field. He’s a failure off the field. When he leaves this little bubble of Winston-stans and FSU Homers, he’s gonna be subjected the real world — where fanbases break out the pitchforks and torches at the thought of signing a turnover-machine / human predator.

  54. Allbuccedup Says:

BA or BS looks more like BS. No risk it no biscuit. Remember the 49ers was one of the three worse teams on the bucs schedule. Now we have the giants and cardinals as possible wins. BA needs to cut the BS and get this team ready to play. Hopefully the defense is better and it wasn’t just the inept 49ers offense.

  55. Jeff Says:

JW can’t read defenses quickly, and that’s why he’ll be a backup next year. Probably the Bears or Jags.

  56. Anonymous Says:

I wonder how many games it took him to set the turnover record!?!?

  57. richbucsfan Says:

Jameis is simply uncoachable. His history proves that. Sad but true.

  58. Pryda...sec147 Says:

Not going to happen jameis is getting extended believe that ! BA is going to fix the problems

  59. Bucs_Fan Says:

man oh man…. your missing the story here.

The story isn’t how many yards he had, the story on the yards is his completion percentage.

JW did have 185 yards, but his completion percentage was 55.6%.

Out of the 27 WB’s who have started this season so far JW comes in 25th place with the 55.6%

He beat Kyler Murray and Ryan Fitz. That’s it, every other QB beat him in Compl %

And since I’ve mention him here, Kyler Murray threw for 308 yards, 2 TD’s and the most important stat won the game.

When you are losing almost every game you have to throw a lot. Normally we call these garbage yards.

  60. unbelievable Says:

You know what other record he set yesterday?

Most interceptions of any quarterback since coming into the league in 2015

    Congrats on your records Jaboo

@clod- yeah but at least Michael Scott is funny…

  61. rrsrq Says:

Kwon thrown out in return to Tampa
    DJax goes off for Philly

  62. stpetebucsfan Says:

Having done so myself on the golf course and other venues I hate to use the “C” word but JW’s collar is looking really really tight right now.

I always thought last year was really the make or break point in his career. The AZ adventure and fallout and suspension…the rise of the Fitzmagic craze in JW’s absence…that Cincinnati debacle…it was year that could break a LOT of athletes.

Or that which doesn’t kill us makes us tougher. I was hoping that would be the deal with JW. That last year toughened him.
Sadly yesterday it looked as if he’s a broken athlete mentally.
Hard now to even imagine how he turns this around…although obviously it would be the sports story…not just NFL story if JW got this team to the playoffs.

Right now that story is looking like a fantasy not based in reality.

  63. tgregs Says:

He’s a mental case loser…the type Joe loves! See Freeman and Johnny Football
