Justin Evans On Injured Reserve

September 9th, 2019

Injury update.

The season could be over before it started for Bucs safety Justin Evans.

The Bucs, per Greg Auman of The Athletic, have placed Evans on the injured reserve list.

Evans has battled foot, leg and Achilles issues since last December. He missed all of underwear football and training camp and barely got on the practice field during preseason.

The Bucs hoped he could play in the final preseason game at Dallas but Evans couldn’t even do that. He was inactive Sunday against San Francisco and today the Bucs played Evans on the injured reserve list.

Now each team can bring back two players after they spend eight weeks on the injured reserve list. Of course, it is dart-throwing with a blindfold to guess that far out if Evans would be one of those two players.

Certainly the team won’t say one the record but one has to wonder if the Bucs had their doubts about Evans’ health back during the draft and as a result selected Mike Edwards?

Among the nicks Evans has had to deal with since December is a sore Achilles and a turf toe.

‘season could be over ‘ – if the Bucs refuse to admit JW was a mistake and give someone 1 of their other QBs a starting opportunity… If we’re going to lose, less do it seeing what we have in other QBs because JW plays for their opponent..

  2. Rojas Says:

He won’t be on the team next year. Dude lives on IR.

  3. 813bucboi Says:

He’ll be depth when he returns…..

    GO BUCS

  4. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

long season…had bucs at 6-10 but looking like 3 wins this season

  5. Bird Says:

    Geez.

    Kinda feel bad for him
Bad feet /Achilles /toe going on how long ?

He needs to rethink playing ball
Sounds like he may have a hard time walking later in life.
Being in pain constantly sucks … Trust me it’s not fun …

  6. Wesley Says:

    Dude proof read your stuff.

  7. ElioT Says:

I like J. Evans a lot but this is no surprise.

Sh*t happens in the NFL, more so to the Bucs (I could go on and on) but MY GOD, #lichtmyb*ll’s record in the draft and FA is only getting worse and worse.

Bad luck? Maybe… but he’s making Mark D. look like a genius.

Just give him a 10 year extension on top of his recent 5 year bump.

    Honest Question:
What the hell habe we done as fans, to deserve this epic futility in almost every aspect of our favorite team, year after f**ing year?

    What’s next?

    “Holy sh*t, where’s the Tylenol?” – C. Griswold

  8. ElioT Says:

Jason #lichtmyb*lls can suck a fat one.

I don’t care if it’s his fault or not.

How many f**king second round picks and FA busts can you possibly tolerate from this moron?

    My god!!!

  9. Pelbuc61 Says:

Another Licht 2nd round gem! I’ll be glad to draft all these turds for a fraction of Licht’s salary. Boy, DeSawn Watson would have looked good in a Bucs uniform and he’s a high character kid. I forgot, Licht specializes in selecting malignant cancers.

  10. ElioT Says:

    Lifetime contract for Jason!

    He’s done so well.

Thanks for another wasted 2nd Rd. pick.

    We appreciate your effort Jason.

  11. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Noah Spence, Aguayo, Justin Evans, the 50 DBs drafted in round 2 this year, ASJ…..how does licht have a job and where is nos bos

  12. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

Jameis is getting extended next believe that!

  13. TOM Says:

    The whole Buc organization sucks

  14. Joe in Michigan Says:

We lose 3 extra games because a guy who has been hurt since last year gets put on IR? A guy that nothing was expected of? Hahaha

  15. Barbosa Says:

Turf toe should really be called something else. It’s such a serious injury that ends careers. I think he is done unfortunately.

  16. Sport Says:

All of you second guessers of personnel and saying a guy sux because of injury, reaching back in history to find any player who has achieved more taken after them in the draft, plus the luxury of not actually having to make such decisions in public are lacking experience and wisdom at best, and are underdeveloped troglodytes at worst.

Monday Morning Quarterbacking takes no talent whatsoever. When you do it, you show your vast and infinitely small cerebral development.

Heal well J Evans. Your team is greatly improving on defense and you will need full health to keep up.

    Go Bucs!

    In BA I Trust!

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Can’t we take this opportunity to wish Justin Evans well…..hope he heals….hope he can return….hope he is successful.

  18. Figures Says:

    Anyone heard from ROD MUNCH?

    Yea didn’t think so.

Atleast dumbas s NDOG comes on here and tries to blame everyone else even if it makes him look like a moron.

Ndog you’re about as smart as a wet paper bag full of sh it.

  19. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

    Sport gets it

  20. Anonymous Says:

This is out of his control. All we can wish for is a healthy recovery but unfortunately depression has to be kicking in the same way it did for Luck. Rushing to recovery, just to find out that your spot is taken and there are articles about you being a bust, yet cut

  21. Ndog Says:

So Figures I see your back to name calling with no points like usual. I know you like BA proving what I said right last night. That must eat you alive to see me be proven correct yet again. Boy oh boy it must suck to look like a fool for all to see, but to be fair you do it to yourself when you decide to go at someone that knows waaaaaaay more than you about the topic at hand. Sorry not sorry bro.

  22. Old School Athlete Says:

And now the Saints are losing. We should be and could be in first place in the division, instead here we are in old familiar Buccaneer Cove.

  23. Billy_45 Says:

So on a completely different note, at least the Bucs are still gonna be tied for 1st in the Division.

Best Division in the league my @$$

  24. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Its not monday morning qbing when u have a crappy gm like jason licht. He built this lousy team. The bucs could & should have laremy funsil & lael collins as their starting OTs to protect jameis, licht drafts a corner and 6 guys no longer in the nfl; the bucs need a real gm, like how the colts switched it around with their new GM

  25. JimmyJack Says:

Hate to say it but now in his third season with very little results and none coming Evans is a certifiable bust.

Maybe he can come back and try to salvage his career like VHIII is trying to do.

  26. JimmyJack Says:

Billy feel free to scroll back and look at the final standings of our division over the last several years. It is not impressive at all and is proof that division is wildly overrated, especially from local media.

Shoot last year 3of4 teams finished below .500 and local media still run with the baseless narritive that our division is strong. Don’t know where they get their info from but it surely isn’t team records.

Outside of one season(2017 I believe) our division has never been the juggernaut local media wants to pretend they are. I guess results don’t matter when it comes to making excuses for bad Buc teams.

  27. Mike Johnson Says:

If the Bucs have a losing season..and they will. I look for Arians to SEND ABOUT 2 MORE O LINEMEN PACKING. hIS DRAFT AND FREE AGENTS WILL BE O LINEMEN AND DE’S.

  28. JimmyJack Says:

In Dirk’s regime he ackomplished only one thing in mine opinion. He swept the Carolina Panthers.

This was a team that has owned us since realignment and not even our Warren Sapp led teams could sweep them.

Now thanks to Dirk we can boast a winning record vs them in recent years. That’s a big deal to me. And bite me to any fan who wanted to lose that game on purpose for one measly draft slot. You do not have the heartbeat of a Bucs fan.

  29. D-Rome Says:

Can’t stick with the club from the tub. He won’t be a Buc next year.

  30. JimmyJack Says:

Nah Mike Johnson……Good Jamie’s will decide to show up on Thursday and you will be forced to retract your statement.

Bruce Arians will not manage a team that folds like Joe’s momma doing his laundry.

  31. DB55 Says:

    Sport

I doesn’t take a genius to draft Donte Jackson over mj stewart just one example and there are tons of others.

  32. Ndog Says:

I keep hearing a breakdown of this game and it’s all about Jameis which is fine but let’s just for a second look at the rest of the team for a moment. We had 2 holding penalties get TDs called back, we had a punt blocked, we had a fumble inside the opponents 20 yard line we had a ball go off our hands for a pick, we missed 3 tackles on 3rd to keep them inside their 10. So even with everything being equal that’s not winning football my friends. Hate or love Jameis it’s irrelevant, we need to play better overall if we want to start winning games.

  33. DB55 Says:

    Ndog

They don’t care. Many are drunk watching the game and regurgitating what they hear. The don’t watch tape, prob never played ball and some just don’t like “Jamison” for “personal” reasons.

I had a dude tell me today “Jamison should have waited to see if Ronald Jones was open before throwing the ball and maybe scrambled for 5 yards, I’d take a 5 yard scramble instead he threw it to Sherman for a pick 6”

I just walked away. Smh. You can’t fix stupid and they swear they have a clue.

  34. Billy_45 Says:

Yeah it’s completely based in having 3 MVP QBs and 2 of those were one hit wonders.

  35. LakeLand Says:

Jason Licht will give Jameis a 5 year $140 Million contract.

    It’s the Yucs way

  36. Mitch Says:

How or anyone else I’d like you to look up Ariana commentary on Carson Palmer his first year in his system. There’s gonna be a ton of patience for Jameis… at least until week 8.

  37. DB55 Says:

If there’s one QB I feel worse for than Jameis it’s Deshawn Watson. That kid takes a beating. It should be illegal to do that to a QB.

  38. DB55 Says:

The only young QB better than Jameis is Wentz and possibly Watson.

So please trade Winston away please please pretty please.

  39. LakeLand Says:

    DB55

Why would they trade Jameis after extending the GM with the 27-53 record

    And a million drat busts

  40. LakeLand Says:

    *draft

  41. JimbobBucsFan Says:

After the results of this first game of this NFL season I  challenge all of you fans, experts, trolls and drunkards to predict who will appear in the Super Bowl, who will compete in the playoffs and who will have losing records.

Go check out the NFL Standings for 2019 for this week and come back with your prognostications.

  42. Howard Cosell Says:

    Drew Brees is eoic.
Reminds of the Malcolm days before this franchise was debased by his offspring

  43. Mike Johnson Says:

Say Lakeland..I hope you are dead wrong. Jameis is destined to become a career backup.

  44. Ndog Says:

JimbobBucsFan easy Patriots will win the Superbowl. It doesn’t matter who they play. I’ll give anyone else the field.

  45. JimmyJack Says:

Correct me if I’m wrong but on the last Drew Bress pass there was only two seconds left when they made the tackle. If they don’t touch the guy then the clock keeps running. The Texans win if they use their heads on the last passing play.

  46. ElioT Says:

    DB55,

I am not a Jameis hater at all. I think I’m pretty unbiased when it comes to all things Bucs.

I honestly would like your take on the below:

    • What do you see in Winston that leads you to believe he’s going to do anything to change this horrific franchise we are ALL such fans of?

    • Do you feel confident in that “deer in the headlights” look in Jameis’ eyes game after game, in year five with very supportive systems?

I would love to see this kid succeed and show us all that he’s the real deal. I don’t want to go back to the drawing board again and draft another “franchise” QB. However I have no confidence in #3 as a cerebral QB with consistent play that will foster winning and leadership.

We all argue way too much on this site, and I would really appreciate your opinion.

  47. DB55 Says:

    Lakeland

Same reasons they traded young and Williams.

  48. unbelievable Says:

JimmyJack it’s not just local media, national sees the NFC South that way too.

Pretty much every year, NO, CAR and ATL are always considered contenders at the beginning of the year. Even on down years, any one of those offenses can easily put up 30 if not 40 points. And that competitiveness is part of why NFC South teams ended up with more losses, our divisional games are almost always competitive.

I just wish we started being in that conversation too.

Now contrast that with a team like the Pats, which has 5 – 6 wins given to them pretty much every year just from how bad the rest of their division is. It’s crazy.

I mean look at their next 7 games:

    Dolphins
    Jets
    Bills
    Redskins
    Giants
    Jets
    Browns

  49. LakeLand Says:

Everyone thought Jason Licht was a dead man walking

He got a 5 year extension

    Jameis deal is next

Jason Licht is tied to Jameis

  50. JimmyJack Says:

Ndog unfortunately even with all them mistakes we had the ball with over two minutes left. We still could have won. I expected Winston to run a drive there. Instead he ran one play and just threw the ball into the air.

One of Winston worst games as a pro. Hardly debatable. It was the biggest reason we lost. Also hardly debatable.

The worst part about the QB play was it doesn’t seem to be correctable. These awful decisions in bad situations are not getting better. They are actually getting worse.

  51. DB55 Says:

    • nothing

    • not at all. He should sue licht and the glazers for personal injury and pain and suffering

    • if you want to see what I like I’d refer you to see Godwins TD pass. Not too many in the league can make that pass. Young or old. On top of the beating he took. Consider this JW took a huge hit to the head and the refs nor the team pulled him for concussion protocol which is standard practice. So you tell me who’s really looking out for him? Nobody, not a got darn person and the fans are the worst.

So take your millions and RUN JAMEIS RUN

  52. unbelievable Says:

That’s a good point I was shocked they didn’t make him at least get checked out on the sideline for concussion symptoms

  53. Greg Says:

@JJack you are 100% correct with that! It would have taken an awareness on the d coaches to instruct that given their soft coverage that they obviously did not communicate. Great observation!

  54. JimmyJack Says:

Unbelievable……What you described up there sounds like fantasy football logic. Something that has infected football analysis.

No more do these experts care to talk about vital keys to the game like blocking & tackling……Nowadays it’s the ESPN highlight makers who get all the talk and praise……which are also vital to the game but some seem to forget you need both to be winners in this league. That’s why we get our division being overhyped every year while falling flat most of the time in the win department……Even when they do score 30-40 per.

Seriously where were all these “awful decisions”? I’ll give you the last play but other than that what decisions where bad? The OJ pick nope hit him right in the hands, the Barber pick nope poor route, the 4th down play was a busted coverage where Godwin should have stopped in the hole so Jameis had to wait for him (not Godwin’s fault as it wasn’t practiced), the near Kwon pick he was hit as he threw it. So again please point out all of these “awful decisions”? Seriously I really want to know.

  56. JimmyJack Says:

And yeah the Patriots are like the 49ers of the 80s. Playing cupcake schedules while the rest of the league kicks the snot out of each other.

Heck I bet the Patriots don’t even show half of their playbook. They can save it for real competition.

  57. Howard Cosell Says:

Grudens offense looks potent and surgical on MNF.
This season may not be so bad after all

  58. Howard Cosell Says:

It looks similar to his last Raider offense

  59. JimmyJack Says:

Please don’t even go there Ndog. It’s just silly. The dude had two picks where he was just throwing it into the air. Then he had another one dropped right into Kwon lap where he just threw it into the air. His goalline throw could of been picked also. And he had two fumbles. He started the game 1 for 6 and scored zero points for a entire half of football.

And he still had a chance to win the get and he gets one play and throws the freaking ball into the air. It was a scrub game dude. Just stop with the nosense and excuses. It’s freaking annoying.

It’s time to start judging this guy as a professional freaking QB. That game was dogspit……Time to admitt and get better…..if not he gotta go.

  60. JimmyJack Says:

The goal needs to be playoff caliber QB play. You freaking throw a game like that against a great playoff defense and you are getting picked off 6-7 times if you aren’t becnched before halftime.

  61. Ndog Says:

Ok so you have nothing got it. See what I mean I give you very specific examples and you give me “don’t go there”. What does that mean, if you’re going to say something back it up with examples. Name the two fumbles, one he got hit and fumbled yes but where is the other? I know the answer, but do you cause it seems like you’re just talking out your a**.

  62. Ndog Says:

Also how are facts excused! People are just amazingly stupid. I guess the fact that it is hot outside is an excuse for heat stroke. Dude facts are facts they are not debatable.

  63. Ndog Says:

Where are these two picks that he “just threw in the air”? Now you’re just making crap up.

  64. Ndog Says:

Ok Skip Bayless junior, if you’re going to talk back it up with facts or shut it.

  65. JimmyJack Says:

Dude what are you talking about? He fumbled a snap right before he threw a ball into the air on his pick 6 to Sherman.

How is him throwing the ball into the air and it landing right in Kwon lap not a fact?

When a screen pass get snuffed out you dirt it. I have seen it a million times from better QBs. Quit with whatever crap your selling cause it’s em arassing. The fact is throwing two pick sixes. Three ints total. Two fumbles and two other bad decisions that luckily weren’t also picked. Zero points for an entire half is a fact. And so is missing open receivers and using his legs for positive yards in favor of incompletions. And all of these issues have been problems for years and have not gotten better.

Don’t even try talking facts to me when we can’t even bring his statline into the discussion because it is beyond disgraceful. It was also the absolute worst in the league from last Sunday by a wide margin.

The fact is it was awful QB play and it’s embarrassing for you to try to excuse it. It was cute for the last 4 years. This crap just aren’t funny no more.

  66. Ndog Says:

So that fumbled snap is on him? And you are going to completely ignore the fact that Barber ran a poor route or that OJ had the ball go right off his hands? If those are his fault to you then that says it all as you are clearly not watching what is happening and wanting to blame someone anyone which is misguided at best. And now you want to use stats when they didn’t matter the last four years when he would put up great stats “but didn’t win”? You people are so full of it. He throws the ball away like you beg and gets called for grounding, he checks it down to OJ who fumbles, he makes a ridiculously great throw to Brate for a TD and it gets called back but yeah he sucked and everyone else was great. If you believe the crap your spewing then your full of crap.

  67. MadMax Says:

Bottom line….this was against the 49ers…2nd or 3rd worst last year? I could see if it were a good playoff team. Man those darn vegas guys get it right it seems every year….i was seeing possibly playoffs, or at least 8-8…now i see 3 wins and a top 5 pick…buc life baby. I really hope im wrong and we at least get to .500

  68. JimmyJack Says:

And if I wanted to be overly critical I could bring up his high throw over the middle. And don’t distort my point and the fact like you always do because it is absolutely OJs fault and he has to catch that.

At the same time you don’t throw high across the middle because if the ball gets dropped that’s what happens a lot of the time. He missed the mark and it was a contributing factor to the INT. And he better get that throw right because OJs hand have always been iffy and he don’t have Hump here to make that catch every time.

  69. Ndog Says:

BTW I’m still waiting on this of “awful decisions”? What you can’t find any?

  70. Ndog Says:

So you can’t trust your TE over the middle, you can’t trust your back to run a freaking hitch, you can’t throw through the back of the endzone without getting a grounding call, you can’t trust your backs to block, you can’t check down to your TE cause he might fumble, you can’t trust your back to get out on a screen, heck I guess we should just run the flipping wing t since he can’t trust anyone. Or how about we just hold everyone accountable and not just blame one player that’s an idea.

  71. JimmyJack Says:

Wrong route based off what? Cause BA said? So NFL coaches are no beacons of Truth all the sudden? What universerve did you grow up on cause cause they lie more then politicians probably……….I don’t believe half the crap I hear from these coaches. Sure I could give Winston the benefit of the doubt on that and on the fumble but I’m not. If you want give it fine. We will just disagree on it. I have seen bad Winston enough and I ain’t buying. Excuse me.

And I heard BAs statement and it didn’t even make sense to begin with. He said he run the route 3 yards too deep. If he cuts three yards earier it doesn’t change anything except maybe Barber makes the tackle. I saw the replay dude.

  72. JimmyJack Says:

Three balls thrown into the air. The fumble. Those are the four awful decisions.

If we wanna start counting missed receivers and times he should have run instead of throwing in ompletes it will easily be well over 10 bad decisions.

Wake up and smell the news.

  73. BucsFan727 Says:

I dont think Winston stays if he dosent earn it. I mean that crap show he put on tape is the worst from a starting QB this year.Hes got to take a step I mean a leap to get paid. I would move on. Its a buisness and a rookie QB on his first contract is what a basement team needs.

  74. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

Vintage Licht Weight 2nd round pick…we barely knew ya, Bustin’.

  75. Ndog Says:

Every ball thrown is in the air what are you even saying, do you understand how football works? That’s called a pass. Dude you are so reaching but that’s ok cut him I’m sure every other QB will succeed with 2 holding penalities that gets 2 TDs called back, or have a punt blocked, or have a fumble inside the opponents 20 yard line.

  76. JimmyJack Says:

Anyways this defense and running game showed up yesterday. We gonna have a decent team around With stone this year and they will do it again on Thursday.

Good for you and your undying faith in Winston and you can gloat all you want if he prooves his worth.

But if you want facts the biggest one is that we could of won that game yesterday with better QB play. There’s a straight one for ya.

Now if Winston wanna step up and play like a pro QB he can get some wins for us this year. But if aren’t going to happen if he freaking plays like that again. If you think otherwise you are flat out wrong.

I’ll still support the guy but he got some work to do to earn back my trust. He needs to string together some good games for me to be impressed. My expectations are to get good enough to go on playoff runs. That aren’t going to happen with a QB who just up and decided he is going to play like the worst QB in football every few games. Football don’t have 7 games series to decide things like other sports. Inconsistency is not good enough.

  77. JimmyJack Says:

That’s the best way I can describe some of Winston’s throws. He doesn’t throw it to a player or to a spot he just throws the ball into the air. To nowhere and to nothing. It’s looks worse then the ol Dilfer no-look pass he was famous for. At least in mine opinion.

  78. JimmyJack Says:

Actually Ndog a lot of QBs would have succeedeed in spite of them two pentalties and blocked punt and fumble………..Maybe not every week but on that game yes.

The reason is because, like Winston, they would have gotten the ball in their hands with over 2 minutes left. That’s plenty enough opportunity to win a game. Happens every week. Just happened for Watson as a matter of fact with only 50 secs. Then in the same game Bress did it with only 35 secs.

Our QB had a much more favorable opportunity and ran only one play and he just threw the ball into the air. He lost.

  79. JimmyJack Says:

And if you get a blocked punt and give up a FG it should take you an entire half to get those 3 points back. You must have a better answer then that. And he didn’t even score us that TD it was the defense so it really took him more then a half.

By the time the offense finally does score they were looking at a twenty on the scoreboard. That’s not how you answer back in the NFL bro. Not how the good ones do it.

Again I could give Winston the benefit of the doubt for this game and a series of mishaps but it’s not one game. Winston has always struggled to find answers when we get down on the scorebard…..his whole career.

Done with excuses. Time for answers and holding him to the standards of a pro QB. He may start on Thursday Night.

  80. Bucsfanman Says:

I wonder sometimes if people are watching the same game. The QB play wasn’t good enough. Yeah, there were other things that contributed to the loss, but none so glaring as the QB.
In the end, I’m sure it’s Doug Martin’s fault! Am I right?! Huh?!

  81. Bucsfanman Says:

Oh, on subject, how many 2nd round picks is this now? Lets re-re-sign Licht!
