“I Think He’s Going To Be Out A Couple Of Weeks”

September 16th, 2019

Joe will keep this simple.

Ronde Barber, the man entering the Buccaneers Ring of Honor on Sunday, the man calling Sunday’s Bucs-Giants game for FOX, the man who is a close friend of Bruce Arians and general manager Jason Licht, told the Buccaneers Radio Network this evening that rookie linebacker Devin White is expected to miss time.

“I think he’s going to be out a couple of weeks,” Barber said of the No. 5 overall pick.

White left Thursday’s Bucs-Panthers game early with a knee sprain. On Friday, Arians said White is so strong he might not miss time.

How Do You Get Let out of Joe Jail

  2. TampaBay55 Says:

I mean, if someone’s going to get hurt on D, White would be the least problematic. The guy is just a rookie and his back up is pretty good.

  3. coach Says:

come on son rub some dirt on it ,lets play.

  4. Bucnjim Says:

Missing valuable playing time but the injury bug is going around the league. Nice to see Minter look like he knows the position well and performed great last week.

  5. LordCornelius Says:

At least looks like we are somewhat deep/adequate at LB.

Trading back for Brian Burns / Devin Bush / Jonah White (my original hope) may have been the move now 2 weeks in but I am holding out hope that this kid proves to be super special.

Also hope that SMB can take over for Stewart sooner than later at nickle. Or htat we can move VHIII inside on some of those plays and have either SMB/Dean playing opposite Davis.

Stewart can’t keep up with slot players still or really anyone with consistency when having to play man coverage.

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We do have some depth at LB and Todd Bowles has the system right.
There is no way that White should be rushed back into service….

And anyone who is already considering him some sort of bust will likely look like fools very soon.

  7. Colonel Angus Says:

Jalen Ramsey has requested a trade, just thought I’d throw that out there.

  8. Bucnjim Says:

The Defense they are playing isn’t to take away the big play its to take away everything else. Seems they would rather take their chances on very low completion percentage deep pass then spread them thin inside. Smiths D was set up to prevent the down field throws but gave up everything else as an easy completion.

  9. Rojas Says:

Jalen Ramsey demanded a trade. Just the corner we need to go against Julio, and Michael Thomas.

  10. Anonymous Says:

    He will miss three games.

As long as Minter is play as well as he has….take your time DW !…come back %100

  12. Anonymous Says:

I comfortably with this, if I can have him
@ 💯 when they play the Rams and Saints.

  13. Dewey Selmon Says:

I don’t want the media here talking about nothing but Jalen Ramsey. He is a cancer and a loudmouth. I want the media talking about Godwin, Evans, Barrett, Suh etc. This team has good chemistry, don’t mess with the juju.

  14. Anonymous Says:

    Healthy for Rams and Saints

  15. Rod Munch Says:

Ramsey is who I wanted a few years ago, but he went before the Bucs had a chance to pick – but he was clearly the best guy available. I’d certainly be on the phone with Jacksonville asking what they might want in return for him. Yes, he’d have to get paid, but the Bucs will have some contracts coming up they can move on from, mainly JPP and the angry ginger, that right there would more than pay what he’d be looking to get paid.

  16. unbelievable Says:

@bucnjim the prob with Smitty’s defense was they ALSO gave up huge plays lol.

They weren’t good at stopping anything (except for a 7 week stretch during 2016).

  17. unbelievable Says:

    ^ * the problem

  18. Delawest Says:

I’m ok with this, as long as we have him
for Rams and Saints. Get healthy.

  19. Rod Munch Says:

Dewey – Yeah, just like Keyshawn and Sapp were “cancers”… If we want a team full of nice guys, well Mike Smith was a great guy, as was Chris Conte. Hell, I’ve only ever heard nice things about Ryan Smith, what a great guy.

  20. Colonel Angus Says:

I’m sure Patriots will be happy to snatch him up, they sweat not the cancer.

  21. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

“Jalen Ramsey has requested a trade, just thought I’d throw that out there.”

I wonder if Jax still needs a TE.

Imagine if the Bucs had a real GM? We could have had Tunsil, or Clowney now Minkah Fitzpatrick and Jalen Ramsey.

We could build a nasty Super Bowl contender if the Gumpster Fire was gone.
Instead we are loaded with D3 projects and medical miracles like the kid with 3 bad knees and the half blind guy.

  22. OBP Says:

I’d give up a 1 and Cam Brate in a heartbeat, I’d even consider an additional Day 2 pick in either 2020 or 2021. If you play in a division with as many good QBs and WRs as we do and you need as any good DBs as you can get. Ramsey would be a perfect fit in Todd Bowles scheme.

  23. TampaBay55 Says:

Ramsey? I know the guy is an exceptional talent, but you guys think the answer to this teams problems is throwing MORE resources at DB? LOL! Common guys…

  24. Bucnjim Says:

    Unbelievable,
You are exactly right but the reasoning behind lining up 10 yards off the ball was to TRY and eliminate the big play.

  25. BucsFan727 Says:

Fitzpatric or Ramsey??? Go get both 1sr for Ramsey and 2nd for Fitzpatric.

  26. NOSBOS Says:

How anyone could see adding a talent that literally can cancel out a teams best wideout eliminating a side of the football field as a bad thing is comical to me. I don’t care who we currently have on our roster it would be negligent for Licht to not at least inquire. BA said you can never have too many DBs. Please check on Jalen Jason. And that ain’t got nothing to do with being an FSU homer, he’s one the best players in this league.

  27. Dewey Selmon Says:

Rod this is a different era to compare Sapp/Key to Ramsey. apple and oranges when it comes to the immaturity of todays youth to that generation.

  28. Walkergodeep Says:

    I’ll trade anything for Ramsey

  29. Buczilla Says:

I hope the kid heals up quickly because he needs all th reps he can get. Minter is the better player right now but is nowhere near Devin physically. I’m going to stop mocking Licht for drafting this dude since none of the other defensive rookies that we were most likely looking at at number 5 are tearing it up right now either.

  30. Dlavid Says:

Gotta say Minter looked better in the game than what little we have seen of White . Keep it going guys , play the hot hand !

  31. Cobraboy Says:

    A trade for Ramsey? No.

A trade for a top OT?

    Hell yes.

  32. Walkergodeep Says:

Trade for Ramsey and draft rg and RT

  33. Colonel Angus Says:

The South is wide open now with Brees going down. Bucs need to do everything they can to improve the roster. Ramsey would definitely be an improvement. A top OT or any lineman would be great, but teams won’t be trading top offensive linemen.

  34. JP_09 Says:

So people here are not interested in the guy who just held arguably the best receiver in the league to 40 yards on 5 catches…Its worth a call at least I’d say

  35. Cgmaster27 Says:

@jp some.people dont want ramsey because of this fsu stigma. They cant see his talent becaus he played for the noles. Ramsey just locked down the best wr in the league and some of you dont want him?

  36. Walkergodeep Says:

Todd bowles probably freaking out about ramsey

  37. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says: Says:

Send them CB Bunting and TE Tanner….

  38. Todd Says:

    OBP—

“I’d give up a 1 and Cam Brate in a heartbeat, I’d even consider an additional Day 2 pick in either 2020 or 2021.”

    That would make you…S-T-U-P-I-D!!!

    Good Lord. Whoa Cowboy.

I’d also give up JPP! 😉

  39. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Ryan Smith….straight up for Jalen Ramsey….

  40. GhostofSchiano Says:

Wish we played the Saints twice in the next 6 weeks instead of once.

  41. NOSBOS Says:

Ghost why??? We’ve been splitting games with them the last few seasons with brees. Why is it people are acting like they’ve been dominating the Bucs in recent years.

  42. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

Barber for GM in 2020…Licht can check ids for the luxury suites.

  43. JimmyJack Says:

Y’all asking us to use our first round pick for a DB? And many of y’all have spent the whole off-season whining about the same exact thing.

Hey all good. Call for Ramsey all day. Just don’t come back on here whining that they are not building the team properly because this is just the sort of sort sighied move that takes away the chance of drafting your new starting Tackle for the next dozen years.

I’m of the mind that the Bucs are in no position toake a high end trade for future picks unless that trade is addressing an area that is weak and has no future pieces. DB is on of the least positions that fits that criteria…….The only other scenario that makes sense is if the we are one DB away from making a Super Bowl run.

This just is not a trade that fits the Bucs. Fail to see how it does. Y’all just sound like your hard up for instant gratification and will do it at the cost of building the team.

But hey maybe I’m wrong and the Bucs have other plans……Also thinking the Dolphins will trade Fitzpatrick for only a 2nd rounder sounds ridiculous. Unless he has been a bad player in which case why do you even want him?

  44. JimmyJack Says:

Why the heck are the Browns and Jets on primetime for?

Put this crap on Thursday Night. Neither of these team deserve to be on Monday Night. What a joke.

  45. Colonel Angus Says:

Ramsey would absolutely fit the Bucs. You wouldn’t want a top 3, shut down corner to matchup with Julio Jones and Thomas? I could care less about draft picks, 2019 season is all that matters right now. This division is there for taking. Worry about draft picks after the season, a good GM can wheel and deal to get the picks back. We’re always building for a future that never pans out anyway.

  46. George Rauh Says:

as of right now Minter is playing better than White. White hasbeen OK, nothing great. I do expect him to eventually be a better player than Minter.

  47. TDTB Says:

Licht can’t go after Fitzpatrick or Ramsey without tacitly admitting he f’d up in the past two drafts…unless Bucs send some of the youngsters as part of the trade coupled with lower round picks (e.g., Murphy-Bunting and a third rounder). In the case of Ramsey, the Jags need a TE. Love Brate, but hate the salary. Again, maybe Brate and Dean for Ramsey which gives salary cap headroom to sign Ramsey).

  48. BA Redzone Says:

Did not take time to read all the posts.

NET – Lets get Jalen Ramsey. Volatile for sure – but super-talented, difference maker on D.

  49. BA Redzone Says:

Adding to my earlier post – Ramsey will respond to BA! Bowlen will get positive results from Jalen Ramsey, that will impact wins for Bucs.

  50. JimmyJack Says:

Colonel Angus……Fair point there. Hard to say anybody that is a top player at their position would not be a fit. But I still do not think he would be a good fit for what we are looking for in a trade. The way the Bucs are setup now the long term effect is more important when considering a trade in my opinion since we are not yet solidified contenders…….In this case our biggest long-term area of need is the tackle position. And Edge players. Losing a first rounder is going to hurt your long-term plans to address these positions. Don’t see how you can just wheel and deal and up and get a 1st round pick back. I guess that means your trading away Evans or Godwin.maybe.

I see your point about going for the division but I would argue trading for other positions could bring us closer to that goal then DB. & would do more for us in the long term and trying to win multiple division titles.

  51. JimmyJack Says:

I doubt Brate holds much value at all in any trade for the Dolphins or Jaguars. Would have to assume those teams would value extra draft choices much higher because they will get a player they can control much cheaper then Brate on a heafty contract.

Also them team both might be looking for new QBs in the draft and gaining extra draft capitol now would go a long way to getting their guy. Fitzpatrick and Ramsey are good & proven players. Jags and Dolphins should get their asking prices in a trade and I doubt what they are looking for is players.

Trading a guy like Brate only really makes sense to a contending team that needs a TE to go for a title run. A team like Bears or Pat’s makes better sense in that scenario.

  52. JimmyJack Says:

Just saw on Mon No ght football Minkah Fitzpatckick traded to Steelers. Cost was a #1 pick.

    Nice try coach GMs.

  53. Bucsfanman Says:

JJ- If Minkah’s worth a first and change, Ramsey will command a king’s ransom. Fantastic player but, do you mortgage the future? I don’t know, I’m 50/50.
    Get better soon Devin.
