Figure Out A Way To Lose

September 29th, 2019

Riffs on Bucs.

Joe has written about this several times. It seems that locker room at One Buc Palace needs a hazmat team.

The Bucs, for whatever reason, have a losing culture since Chucky was around.

Remember when the Bucs won 10 games in 2010? Joe still says the farther we get from that season, the better the coaching job looks by Raheem Morris. But that year the Bucs never beat a team with a winning record until the final game when they beat the Saints. The Bucs nearly always found a way to lose to good teams.

And that has carried over to the present day. An exception was 2016 ,when the Bucs came from behind to beat both the Chiefs and the Chargers in back-to-back road games and gave the appearance that team finally turned the corner.

But back into the quagmire it went.

In his podcast “In the Trenches,” former Bucs guard and current popular local sports radio personality Ian Beckles said after watching how the Bucs choked against the Giants was proof the losing culture is deep at One Buc Palace.

“It can’t get no easier than that,” Beckles howled about how the Bucs were facing a rookie quarterback making his NFL debut. “We have one of the better defense in the league, allegedly, and we lose in Buccaneers fashion. The Bucs figure out ways to lose, there are so many different ways.”

Beckles also believes, while it was a good win over Carolina, it was misleading. Beckles swears if the Stinking Panthers would have started Kyle Allen over pouty Cam Newton, who played hurt, Carolina would have won and the Bucs would be winless and very much in the Tank for Tua sweepstakes.

Can the Bucs ever get rid of this losing culture? Stealing a win from the Rams in Lipstick City would be a helluva step.

we will never win again until we get rid of these ridiculous uniforms and go back to our pewter and red, winning jerseys. It must be the jerseys… why did we change our jerseys??? fing stupid decision for a losing organization. Change the jerseys, change the culture

“We have one of the better defense in the league, allegedly…”

What? Seriously, are your eyes deceiving you? We have one heck of a run D. But after we take Barkley, the Giants only stud player, out of the game, the Bucs let a rookie QB, making his first start, on the Bucs home field, dismantle them like he is Tom Brady!!! That is what you are calling “one of the better defenses”?

How many times have Bucs fans seen this in the past decade+ of embarrassing loses?! I am not one of the many negative @ss on here, but I am tired of this.

^^^ out scored 22 – 3 in the 2nd half by a ROOKIE without Barkley. “better defenses” LMFAO

Gosh…I am getting Buc nervous !…..

  5. Aceofaerospace Says:

Tank for Tua? I don’t understand that statement. Don’t you know the only reason any Buc fan is critical of Winston is because he’s black? Just read the comments. Say enough about Winston and you’ll eventually be called a redneck hillbilly racist. Tank for Tua? I think not. You must’ve meant Tank for Trask.

  6. BucEmUp Says:

When ypu have someone who was mediocre on his vest day at qb ehen he played, and has NEVER been succesful calling plays at any level what do you expect? What, ypu think he will ve just as good as Arians because Bruce hired him, and Its Bruces offense? I called this before the season started just like I called smitty ruining everything.

  7. Hodad Says:

Mahomes is of mixed race, believe me if he played for us like he does for KC we’d love him. People don’t like Jameis because he’s a bad QB, not because he’s black. His off field antics, be it in the past hasn’t helped either. Fans want to win period, race has nothing to do with it. The losing continues with these Bucs because Jason Licht has not put a talented enough team on the field. His record proves it. Going on our third coach under him, so far same results. Talent wins, you all thought it was bad coaching. If I hate anybody that has to do with the Bucs it’s Licht, and he’s as white as it gets.

  8. Ndog Says:

I know it sounds stupid but a large part of the”losing culture” is the loser media that is just looking for something negative to write or talk about. This website alone is always talking about the den of depression or the kickers or TOs or missed draft picks or players that have gone on to other teams and succeeded. It’s like they have to live in this sespool of negativity all day everyday after awhile is does wear on you. It’s just like the Jameis narrative that he can’t win, it’s bull. There is no “losing culture” here what this here is players running wrong routes (Peyton Barber), ball bouncing off guys hands (OJ Howard), guys making poor decisions on screen passes (Jameis Winston), guys calling back to back TOs (Bruce Arains), guys playing the wrong coverage (MJ Stewart), or a guys missing two kicks in one game including a game winning chip shot (Matt Gay). That’s it that’s all there is to it, it’s not luck, it’s not a stadium, it’s not the weather, it not karma, it’s not superstition, it’s individuals not doing their job the right way, that’s not called culture that’s people just doing what their paid a lot of money to do, PERIOD! To make it more than is like believe in zombie’s or ghosts or the boogie man when it gets dark. Football is like anything else if you do your job well you get good results the major difference is you never are looked at as an individual cause winning is all that matters so if you play with a bunch of screwups your screwed, just ask Dan Marino, Dan Fouts, Warren Moon, Archie Manning, Barry Sanders, Adrain Peterson, John Randle, Derrick Thomas, and so on. This garbage about losing culture is just that GARBAGE, it’s simple the team plays well they win they don’t they lose. So you mean to tell me if a kicker makes a kick last Sunday it’s because we had a better culture? Freaking grow up!!!!!!!!!!

  9. RagingBrisket Says:

Every year I keep expecting to see a team that can compete in every game. They have been that in these first three games so perhaps that can carry through all season. It is a good first step and will eventually turn into wins which is the only way to change the culture of losing.

  10. Ben real Says:

My pick was a win vs San Fran and that was it … I said 1-15 … I got the game wrong … Beckles was right we should have lost that Carolina game … we would be winless… honestly I don’t see this team winning anymore games … look at the next 7 weeks …we don’t have a home game until November … damn shame we are undefeated on the road and winless at home… only way we turn it around is a win vs Los Angeles would be a huge boost to confidence but it’s not happening

  11. Chuckstutz Says:

Winston’s ethinisty has nothing to do with loses, interceptions, fumbles, and eating Ws. And accuracy. Absurd comment ace.

And as if their uniforms control winning. Makes me laugh.

    We choose to suck. TM.

People like DB accuse everyone of racial bias for one reason. He believes everyone thinks like that because that is exactly the way HE thinks.

  13. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

It was a Ring of Honor game. Just how many of those have we won?

    Nuff said.

  14. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

The Carolina win was lucky indeed. If Newton could even jog he would have punched the last one in himself. The coaching staff tried their best to botch it with back to back time outs…I’ll give them that. Gay missing a FG to keep Carolina in it almost did the trick as well. The Licht Weight Era is a dark one indeed. It spans 3 coaches and has produced a .333 losing percentage. The Gay draft pick to prove he can draft kickers after all/any time he wants will
continue to look foolish. A secondary built on high picks continues to be a dumpster ( or Gumpster as some cheeky and correct poster calls it ) fire. Can they beat the Rams today? Sure. Will they? Highly, highly doubtful…but would love to be proven wrong.

    * Pinning the Giant gag on it being Ring of Honor Day is a lousy alibi and the stuff beta fanboys use to explain away ineptitude.

  15. passthebuc Says:

Race has nothing to do with loving or hating JW. He is indecisive, he is slow to adapt when the original play breaks down, he throws to where his receivers are instead of leading them, and he has a slow-release. Another thing that we do not discuss is his telegraphing everything with his eyes.

Now is the time to drop 40 million in cap space. right tackle, JW, Brate and any other overpriced average talent.

  16. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Stupid fans injecting race into the QB performance.

    ……GTFOH WIT DA SH!T!!!!!

Jameis Winston is not a starting Franchise QB period!!!!!

    …….we got a loser of a QB……a second stringer…

A boneheaded QB who will NEVER CHANGE

…..and you stupid fans thinks he’ll change after 5 years of this crap….you fans are delusional

  17. Aceofaerospace Says:

    Chuckstutz says: “Absurd comment Ace”.

I agree. Apparently you don’t recognize sarcasm when you read it. I’m one that has been called a redneck racist hillbilly for my negative comments about Winston. Race has nothing to do with it. Ball security has everything to do with it. Apology accepted.

  18. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

    Harry, he was being sarcastic.

  19. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Ace do you like when a QB throws for 380 yards, 3 TDs, multiple deep throw completed, hitting guys in stride, and engineering what should have been a game winning drive if we had a real NFL kicker? You guys ignore all of his good games and focus on nothing but the negatives. if you clowns think the Bucs will fix it all next year with a rookie QB you better think again. Daniel Jones was lucky enough to face one of the worst teams in the league and still should have lost last week. Once he starts facing real NFL teams he will struggle no doubt.

  20. Alanbucsfan Says:

    My question is:
Do you want to pay $30 mill plus per year for a qb who can’t engineer 1 td in 2nd half vs worst D in NFC?
Still early in season, but right now, Jameis doesn’t inspire confidence in his leadership-
I hope it’s just new offense and coaching bugs to be ironed out, but that’s wishful thinking
Looks like same Hot and Cold Jameis to me, 4 interceptions in 3 games
To the stats enthusiasts- 2 sacks, interception and 0 td’s in 2nd half- that was the story.
Gay blew kicks, but you could argue he bailed out stalled drives with 3 kicks in 1st half
Just tired of finding team excuses for Jameis-
If he plays solid today for 4 qtrs, I expect a Bucs win
    Show me

there is no HONOR in having played for Tampa Bay Buccaneers the most embarrassing franchise on planet earth….. Get it right Elf Boy its the Ring of Underachievement!!!!!

  23. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Senor Harry

Agree with most of your post except throwing Ian under the bus.

Not that I agree with all that Ian says but in this case he was correct. You ignored the final word in that sentence.

“allegedly” That term is used in courts of law seriously…in the court of public opinion however it’s pretty much dismissing whatever you said before it…good D…ALLEGEDLY. Ian is making fun of pundits and posters here.

  24. webster Says:

You clowns are clearly racist. Ian and joe brings up losing culture as a team and all you hill billies attack only winston. Gtfooh

  25. AKickInTheBucNuts Says:

    Turn out the lights….the party’s over…..

  26. Aceofaerospace Says:

Touchdown Tampa bay…of course I love when a QB puts up great numbers. You will not find anywhere on any day that I blamed Winston for the Giants loss. All I said was that it was obvious to a blind man that the ball was taken out of Winston’s hand after that boneheaded interception until they were forced to throw again. I also said Winston should have been given at least one shot in the end zone from the 5. It’s you Winston jock sniffers that can’t take any criticism of Winston without crying racism. It really gets old. If Winston can’t be trusted to throw the ball from the 5 yard line to win a game, he will not get 30mil a year.

  27. #1bucsfan Says:

My point exactly Beckles has no clue what he says. He literally said we have one of the better defenses allegedly. Sorry it’s bin 3 games. Yea we have a stout run game but if the 3 QBs we played were more accurate then we would be 0-3. Our pass defense is bad better than last year but still bad

  28. BringBucsBack Says:

Who said we are out of the “tank-for-Tua” sweepstakes?

  29. Miller5252 Says:

I’m not a big Winston fan…. As a father of a young girl I just don’t know what I would do if a man grabbed my daughter in a way that Winston did the Uber driver. It doesn’t have to do with race, I feel the same way to Big Ben… very unacceptable for those type of things to happen. I would still like to see the Bucs succeed every week but the team just doesn’t have the talent needed to compete with the better teams. Best thing the Bucs can do is let Winston go, see what they have in their back up and maybe even trade for some draft pics. Keep the core young players and get someone that can grow and learn. Be the face of a franchise that’s badly needed.
