“Enough!” With “Old Yeller”

September 17th, 2019

NFL Network analyst explains.

[UPDATE: 10:22 a.m.]The time is now. It’s time to say goodbye, says Kyle Brandt.

Because it is the Bucs.

Brandt, one of the popular Four Horsemen/woman of the hit show “Good Morning Football” enjoyed by football fans weekdays on NFL Network, has seen enough.

While the Bucs are 1-1 and the defense is much improved over the football atrocity it was last year, Brandt is still not overly impressed.

So if Big Blue, who the Bucs host Sunday at the Den of Depression, decides to finally pull the plug on Eli Manning, who Brandt referred to as “Old Yeller,” Brandt believes few teams offer the soft landing for a rookie quarterback to make his first start quite like the Bucs.

You can see Brandt’s quality rant about “good dog” Manning in the NFL Network video below.

[UPDATE: 10:22 a.m.] The Giants announced this morning that Daniel Jones will start against the Bucs Sunday.

  2. BetterBucFan Says:

You’re late by about 10 minutes Joe, Daniel Jones is starting

  3. Tbbucs3 Says:

I hope the Bucs give Daniel Jones nightmares on Sunday.

  4. RODNEY ALLEN Says:

If they do they’ll regret it cuz im sure that will light a fire under our defense n they’ll show everyone just how much of a difference this D is from last year. VV will crush that young man

  5. Easy Says:

I trust Todd Bowles against a rookie QB. Saquan Barkley will be shut down just like McCaffrey was.

  6. Bruce Blahak Says:

trap game for sure now…they better be ready and not overlook the Giants

  7. BetterBucFan Says:

Not too confident about our defense. While I do think Daniel Jones is overhyped and not great, Saquon is the best runningback in the NFL. There’s a difference between him and CMC, a big one.

  8. Sport Says:

Our defense won’t stand a chance against a rookie Qback.

Hah! That was actually hard to write. We will confuse and crush whoever is Qback.

If we can contain Saquon and just be our own average defense this.year, we will steam roll their asses or anyone for that matter.

    In BA I Trust!

  9. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

QBs are falling left and right this week.

  10. Son of Kobe Faker Says:

“The Key is not the QB switch

The Key is if Sterling Shepard plays sunday”

    Son of Kobe Faker

It’s time for the Bucs to Win a game we should win! Don’t let the media to continue to look at us like a bunch of chumps. I hope we completely destroy the Giants and their rookie QB for trying to use us as a laughing stock. The Bucs need no motivation for this game just look at what all the outsiders think of you. I’m annoyed and agitated as a Bucs fan! Go Bucs!

^^^Jesus, they win one game and you guys think Bucs are super bowl bound?! Good god ya’ll chill the faaaaak out.

  14. Anonymous Says:

Sack Bearer is really Jonesing for this one now!

  15. Colonel Angus Says:

National media still basing everything off last years Bucs. Keep winning and they’ll come around.

  16. Barbosa Says:

Great news! I trust Bowles to give the rookie nightmares. This attacking defense will shut the door on Barkley and make the rookie sling it. I like our chances!

  17. John D Herb Says:

The young kid is not ready to face a Bowles Defense. He will see things he never has and this could get in his head and give him issues all year. Bad for him… great for us. Go Bucs!

  18. Bruce Blahak Says:

@diggler…this is a different team…if a real QB was in place, playoffs would be in the conversation…

    BINGO!!!!!

TB wont let barkley beat us just like he didnt let CM beat us….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  20. LordCornelius Says:

Honestly should use similar game plan as Panthers. Focus on shutting down Barkley and make the QB make plays while throwing pressure at him and exotic looks.

  21. FortMyersDave Says:

Vegas Lines are holding at Bucs -6.5 while the money line has grown to -300 Tampa. Sizeable numbers since they opened at Tampa -4, -235. The new QB didn’t move the line yet which is surprising because normally lines for the big market teams move when their fans think they’ve got a ringer (see Dallas-Miami or Jets -Pats) but there is plenty of time for the wise guys to move the lines but right now Vegas is pushing the Bucs so Kyle Brandt might be on an island if he thinks Jones will create a stir. Granted if this was last year with Smitty and Koetter this game would probably result in Jones or Barkley being names NFL offensive player of the week but the Giants do not have any receiver besides their TE and their marquee RB. NY press has been calling this a winnable game and yeah given the fact that the Bucs have been 11-23 since 2018 and the Giants have been 8-26, yeah if I was a G-man homer I’d circle the game too like that former Rome clone clone Kyle Brandt is doing. Just hope Bowles puts up a good game plan for Sunday, that Jameis and his offense do not grab their ankles on this one as well as Gay hitting all his kicks!

  22. Jimbuc2 Says:

FMDave: Very erudite. I’m ready for our guys to have a statement game this Sunday. Don’t know the O/U so I’ll peg that at 43 and take the over. Enough ankle grabbing, let’s put a foot on the Big Blue throat. Play some smash mouth and make the Kyle Brandts of the media eat some crow. Go Bucs! 34-10
In Arians I trust. Git er dun!!

Just need one more to go down and I’ll be happy.

  24. Bucsfanman Says:

Jones has the potential to be very good. He’s a heck of a lot more mobile than Eli too. Don’t sleep on this kid.
Lets introduce him to the NFL proper-like! Mr. Suh, allow me to introduce Mr. Jones!

  25. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

Doosh who might that be or does your name explain it all? Some fan…

  26. Tye Says:

Of course the Bucs are one of the best teams to start a rookie against… History shows they make back up QBs and even rookies look great!

Added bonus: both the rookie and JW are throwing to the Giants to help them win!

  27. DooshLaRue Says:

    I’m a Bucs Fan.
I want my TEAM to win.

  28. JimbobBucsFan Says:

    Colonel Angus,

Not only the national media but the local naysayers among our fandom are basing everything off last year. They cannot tell the difference in the results of good coaching vs mediocre.

The franchise turnaround is in progress. The winning has begun and a real culture change will arrive ultimately.

  29. Tye Says:

DooshLaRue: you can be a fan and not wish harm on others… Wouldn’t it be better if the Bucs had a team that could win by their talent and not without all the others teams plagued with injury?… I get right now this Bucs team needs their opponents to forfeit every game to get a winning record but celebrating injuries is just messed up.

  30. BUC CHEEKS Says:

I watched Daniel Jones in preseason… He didn’t miss many passes, he was almost perfect at times. It was however, against backups! Let’s blitz the hell out of this young man and let’s just hope our D continues to improve. I was extremely happy with our defensive performance last week, build on this and punch em in mouth! Can’t wait, I’ll be sitting next to my best friend, who is a HUGE Giants fan. Oh how sweet a victory would be! GO BUCS!!!

  31. Buc1987 Says:

Doooosh and that’s the ONLY way you’ll get Winston out of there….(:

  32. Todd Says:

“Todd, meet Danielle. Danielle, meet Todd Bowles.”

  33. firethecannons Says:

Hoping we are not Tennessee ready

  34. Ozzie Says:

Wait this same talking head Breakfast Club boy who is screaming anything to get attention like his fellow club mates who regularly get Sunday National TV FaceTime ,that prior to training camp had the Bucs
saying they would be a bigtime surprise team this season ..Now there’s no concern about a rookie QB debuting against said defense …I read it a lot and been accused so I’ll parrot this ..God I hate Jim Rome clones ..(Brandt was Rome’s producer for a decade ) Vita/Suh/Nassib/Shaq and co.will be lickin there chops …’Stack em up!”

National media still basing everything off last years Bucs. Keep winning and they’ll come around.

This website and its fans have been doing this since BA was hired right along with the national media and because you finally came around week 2 you want the national media to think differently. Funny everyone is forgetting how skeptical they were the ENTIRE offseason now that the obvious has happened. Fake fans everywhere and I’m wondering where all the negativity went suddenly. Pathetic fanbase wants espn and others to do what they couldnt?

  36. 1sparkybuc Says:

If Mike Smith was still our DC, I would chalk this one up as a loss. His defenses always choked against rookie and backup QBs. The Giants’ defense is not good.our D is much improved, and our offense should have it’s best showing of the season. My wife was born and raised in NYC. She loves the Giants. Sunday will be great fun at our house. GO BUCS

  37. gilhealy Says:

@Pewter Pirate- No kidding. I think like Twitter, though, the percentage of Buc fans don’t have the same attitudes most of these dorks do. I enjoy the website, and the constant writings, but rarely comment any longer. What’s the point? It’s devolved into a “who can disparage #3 the hardest”.

But I agree. We look like we could be pretty good.

  38. Sumosam Says:

The Bucs are for real. You will all see in the next couple of weeks. We have D now.

  39. July Joe Says:

Next for the Giants should be trading Eli to the Jaguars … the AFC South is a trash heap division and it looks like the Colts will still win it, even without Andrew Luck, but Eli’s got to give the Jags a better shot than Gardner Minshew, right? Right? LOL.

  40. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Have we ever won a ring of honor game?
