Justin Evans Is Activated; Bucs Make 2 More Moves

August 24th, 2019

He’s baaack!

It’s not a fantasy. Bucs safety Justin Evans has passed a physical and has now been moved to the active roster.

The Bucs made the big announcement today as the battle to play alongside safety Jordan Whitehead takes a new twist. (Yes, Joe realizes the Bucs rolled with one safety at times against the Browns last night.) Evans has not practiced with the team this year.

The Bucs also brought back QB Vincent Testaverde, Vinny’s son, who has been on and off the roster this offseason. Presumably, he’ll play most of Thursday’s preseason finale at Dallas as the Bucs will try to protect Ryan Griffin as their No. 2 QB following Blaine Gabbert’s injury.

General manager Jason Licht also launched outside linebacker Kahzin Daniels via injury waiver. He’s the partially blind guy with the inspirational story out of the University of Charleston.

It’ll be fun watching VT2 in an otherwise boring game, as if the first 3 were not tortuously boring

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Here’s your chance to impress, Vinny……do your Papa proud, son.

Evans has got to be terribly rusty…..but 2 weeks of practice should have him in shape for SF.

  3. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Glad to see Evans back. I think he’s a good player.

  4. Destinjohnny Says:

    Evans is awful

  5. Defense Rules Says:

Bucs have had some good safety play this preseason. Justin Evans will probably take awhile to catch up, assuming of course that he really is 100% now.

  6. Rod Munch Says:

Evans has been, overall, the Bucs best DB over the last 2 years. Then again the Bucs have had the worst collection of DB’s I’ve ever seen over the last 2 years – or at least they played that way.

Anywho it’s good to have him back.

Also I want to see a Testaverde back in uniform and playing. Not sure his jersey number, but the team needs to force him to wear 14. Oh, and we need some throwback uniforms – don’t care if the helmets match, I want to see some orange… well and the current uniforms are the most trashy thing in the NFL so literally anything, even the Tampa Bay Storm Jay Gruden Zubaz’s are better.

  7. Buc believer Says:

Wonder if he is color blind like his old man was.

  8. Greg Says:

We should wear the Orange jerseys so we can remines as he throws pic after pic. Is that a jerk move?

  9. Easy Says:

Evans should play the entire 4th preseason game

  10. Magadude Says:

Great timing. Let’s keep Griffin out of the game if possible. Oh my, that game is going to be so bad.

  11. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

How long is Gabbert out for? Is there any chance QB Vincent Testaverde will be added to the practice squad?

I won’t lie…it would be a great story if the kid turned out to be better than his dad.

  12. WestTampaBuc Says:

Its ironic that a blind kid was cut for the son of Vinny testaverde who was colorblind. Maybe the Curse of Testaverde is lifted

Had to chime in on the big news here regarding Justin Evans. I think he should be ready to go by Week 3 if we don’t rush it and be patient. I can see us being a team that gets healthy along the way thru the regular season
