“Doing A Heck Of A Job Of Both”

August 6th, 2019

If you wanted harder evidence that Cameron Brate is fully recovered from his hip surgery, it showed up this evening.

Bucco Bruce Arians was asked about how his tight end unit is doing catching the football and blocking.

Now Brate was never known for his blocking and he’s battled hard to stay at NFL tight end weight. No shame in that. He was never supposed to be a blocking tight end.

But Arians said today all his tight ends are playing a complete game, “doing a heck of a job of both,” referring to blocking and tackling.

Playing tight end in the trenches no picnic with a bad or recovering hip. So this is a strong update from Arians.

If Arians can find his way to opening day with all those pass-catching weapons healthy, man, that will put a very unique stress on a young playcaller like Byron Leftwich.

I would hope tight ends don’t learn blocking and tackling… catching also seems important.

We really need the TE’s to block more this season if we’re to have any semblance of a running game at all. We already know it’s the same O-line from last season, now another year older. That doesn’t exactly make me confident, and I really don’t look forward to reading umpteen demeaning articles about how sh|tty our RB’s are again unless they really are the ones to blame.. Anyone with 20/20 eyesight could see why we couldn’t move the ball on the ground. Maybe Joe is right. Maybe we should’ve drafted a RB. Maybe one that was huge and strong enough (channeling Brandon Jacobs) to block for himself and fall forward for positive yards.

This is welcome news Joe. The Bucs, without question have the best TE Corps in the League. I am really looking for a leap this year by Auclair (involved with the offense). Imagine, as a previous post stipulated a three (3) TE set. Sure to be said ….”Look Out”.

Got out to TC today… TEs just look awesome. Howard and Brate are exactly what we thought they were but lots of promise in Auclair and Leggett. All 4 manimals with good hands.

That is god news . A tight end that can block,is essential to the screen passing game, that hasn’t been seen much the last couple of years.

    tackling? oh boy
