Putting Rojo in the spotlight on the very first snap.

    I like it.

a run up the middle for little gain??????????????

Donovan Smith was a wall on that play. Well done!

  14. El Buco Realisto Says:

no touch on the deep ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. unbelievable Says:

    Barber got some juice

  16. Figures Says:

That deep ball was the receivers fault. He should run faster.

  17. rrsrq Says:

    A Screen play, wow

  18. EA Says:

Wow I’m liking this play calling already

  19. D-Rome Says:

Nice schwifty move by Ronald Jones!

  20. gobuxfla Says:

    A screen play.
    Run up the middle.
    Godwin being utilized properly.
    Counter move fakes.

This is like watching lots of free porn with your wife/girlfriend choosing the flicks.

    And it is only preseason.

  21. unbelievable Says:

OJ gotta block better than that.

  22. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

    Nice escape

  23. D-Rome Says:

Great opening drive. Winston looked superb!

  24. gobuxfla Says:

A quick opener TD pass? Dirk, we hate you more now.

  25. rrsrq Says:

There is a new coach in town

  26. unbelievable Says:

Playcalling is already less predictable compared to Koetter, and it’s preseason.

RoJo needs to turn on those jets already.

  27. Joe Says:

Yeah, it is preseason, but Joe is impressed.

  28. Bird Says:

    Impressive.

We have so many weapons it’s filthy
    Who cares it’s preseason.

Jameis running for 1st down was awesome
    Arians is the qb whisperer

  29. mixxx31 Says:

OH MY GOD! RJ’s cutback in the hole was nasty!!

  30. ElioT Says:

Nice play calling there. Godwin is a beast.

  31. gilhealy Says:

Ok, now lets see what the D has

  32. unbelievable Says:

That’s exactly what you wanna see on the first drive of preseason.

  33. Buc believer Says:

    Good looking OD!

  34. SteveK Says:

    That looked good!

    How’s the D?

  35. Figures Says:

    Really good drive.
Short passes and picking up first downs.
The quicker it’s out of Winston’s hands the better.

Now if the defense can be halfway decent maybe they can win some games.

  36. Rod Munch Says:

It doesn’t matter that they got the TD, Winston missed the deep ball – this is gonna be another loser year, might as well just blow up the team and draft over. GRRRRR!!!!

  37. Bird Says:

    Let’s see the defense now.
And who cares that’s it’s preseason

    Joe thinks preseason doesn’t matter.

  38. Rayjay1122 Says:

Nice start. Now lets see this defense!

  39. JimmyJack Says:

That was fun to watch. Now what Ive been waiting for. Time to see this new defense and ofically end the Tampa2. RIP

  40. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

    Nice running bad overthrow

  41. lowercaseg Says:

    yeet, offense looks solid

  42. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

    Nice red zone play selection

  43. Jordan L Says:

I’m sorry realist. You must be upset by that 1st drive.

  44. Figures Says:

Ronald Jones looks like a different player.

Dumbas s dirk had him looking terrible.

I figured he had to be better than what we saw last year.

  45. Bird Says:

Take Jameis and mike Evans out now

  46. webster Says:

Look at the haters hating on jameis. IDIOTS!!!!!

  47. Bird Says:

And take Godwin and oj out Howard too

  48. Figures Says:

    @rod munch

Dude just stfu and jump off a bridge.
You’re like a little bit ch that cries when you can’t have a another cookie.

I’d like to pun ch you right in the fking mouth.

  49. Buc believer Says:

    Vernon toast Hargreaves

  50. ElioT Says:

Hargreaves picking up where he left off.

  51. unbelievable Says:

    oof

  52. Tbbucs3 Says:

Peyton Barber will be solid next season. Not worried about our offense just no depth at running back.

  53. Bird Says:

    4 guys with the sack

  54. Bird Says:

Man I hope Vea doesn’t take 8 weeks to get back

  55. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Steelers backup better at the deep ball than the #1 overall pick…

  56. Tbbucs3 Says:

Rojo gets a career long 5 yard run and here comes the roars of the Rojo crowd.

  57. rrsrq Says:

    Bend no break, maybe

  58. Rod Munch Says:

The defense gave up a big play, got a sack, but got off the field without giving up any points, not too bad.

What happened with VH3? From the replay, he was so far off, it looked like a blown assignment or was expecting help. Also the big play was when they didn’t bring pressure.

  59. Rod Munch Says:

Figures – GRRRR!!!!! So angry… GRRRR!!!!

  60. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

    Tbbucs3- 7 yard run

  61. Walkergodeep Says:

    3-4 defense I can’t believe I’m seeing this day

  62. ATLBucs Says:

Its interesting how open our receivers are compared to last year. It seems like last year JW always had to make perfect throws. What a difference coaching makes.

  63. mark2001 Says:

Mission control… I believe we have seen signs of a running game.

I wish Jameis could have hit a long one hat series… but everything else looked great.

  64. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Alaskan

Does that match his career totals??

  65. Rod Munch Says:

    For those celebrating on offense…

The Bucs had the best passing offense in the NFL last year, the 3rd best offense overall, and set team records for yards and points.

If you think the Bucs issues were on offense, or with Winston, you’re an idiot.

Nice to see the opening drive on offense, but it’s all going to be about the defense not giving up 30 points a game.

  66. ATLBucs Says:

RJ is averaging about 6 YPC. uNTIL THAT LAST RUN

  67. JimmyJack Says:

Great job from Special Teams to set up the defense in great field position. Defense comes through with one big play & was very nearly a big splash play. You can win a lot of games like that.

  68. mark2001 Says:

O lineman knocked back into the backfield… you can’t blame Jones for that lack of yardage.

  69. Rod Munch Says:

It’s amazing how we get all the calls in the preseason when it doesn’t matter. Regular season the Bucs will get called for tackling someone too hard, which literally happened with RG3.

  70. Tbbucs3 Says:

Someone tell Gabbert hes not in the Black and Yellow uniform.

  71. MadMax Says:

Opening drive TD, a long drive that ate up some clock, great running and blocking, LOVED the quick out TD pass to Godwin….Man, wheres that been? Then the D gets a sack and gets a pretty quick out! I LOVED IT!!!!!

    New team baby!!

  72. BucsBandit Says:

Rod But Munch back at it with his ‘revisionist stats’…

So much of that #1 Passing Offense was thanks to a guy named…

    RYAN FITZPATRICK *not* Jameis Winston.

    #fakenews

  73. D-Rome Says:

    Delay of game….Blame Gabbert.

  74. Rod Munch Says:

BucsBandit – Fake news kiddo, when Fitz went out the Bucs were #3 in offense, Winston took them to #1, before those rain games at Baltimore and home where Godwin was dropping everything, and they finished up 3rd.

  75. ATLBucs Says:

Rod But Munch back at it with his ‘revisionist stats’…

So much of that #1 Passing Offense was thanks to a guy named…

    RYAN FITZPATRICK *not* Jameis Winston.

    #fakenews

No MATTER HOW GOOD WE DO, THERE’S ALWAYS GOTTA BE SOME NEGATIVITY

  76. Walkergodeep Says:

I just want to watch our defense rookies Vernon is slow

  77. Kobe Faker Says:

“Bucs was 12th in scoring offense

You need pts to win games

    Bucs was 12th best offense

Klueless would have bogged down at the 20 yard line. Run on 1st 2 downs and gave JW 1 shot on 3rd down when the pass defense is waiting to convert a 1st down”

    Kobe Faker

  78. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Alvin is talking in 3rd person and is very impressed thus far. Great quarter!

  79. BucsBandit Says:

ATLBucs – I’m not trying to be negative, I’m happy to see the team playing well so far.. even Winston. I want my team to WIN.

But at the same time, I don’t buy into the homerism over Winston and excuse his massive turnovers and bad decisions that cost us wins. He has a lot of improvement to make if we’re going to be a playoff team… despite guy’s like But Munch claiming things weren’t his fault. (Ask him to post the redzone stats. We’ll wait.)

  80. diggler Says:

Greeeeat Start. JW pull it in and running was his best throw LOVE IT GO JW!!!!

  81. Rod Munch Says:

ATLBucs – Well Bandit is just wrong, it happens when someone just talks out their rear end without actually knowing what they’re talking about. It happens with people who are triggered. They get emotional like a woman, and just say whatever they feel, regardless of if their feelings are based on anything.

  82. Rayjay1122 Says:

Negativity when we are doing good just proves they are not really Bucs fans. So screw them.

  83. JimmyJack Says:

Munch agreed about defense being most important but think there are a few things to celebrate on offense also.

The running game looked very capable and is a great sign.

Winston was getting the ball out very quickly & this could easily lead to reduced turnovers.

Red zone playcalling looked creative. Albeit just one drive.

All these could lead to an even more potent offense. Which will mean little if the defense is worst in the league again, as you eluded to.

  84. Rod Munch Says:

Kobe – Best scoring offense in the history of the team…

Meanwhile the worst defense in football, one of the worst ever.

  85. MadMax Says:

shouldve went for the fg…..kickers need their shots too

  86. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Munch, they “get emotional like a woman.” Misogynist much?

  87. JimmyJack Says:

Now we just need to fix 3rd&1. Dirk couldn’t figure it out in 4 years. I’ll trust Bruce to not be as inept.

  88. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – Yeah the offense looked good on the opening drive, but the offense looked awesome last year, period.

The offense will almost certainly take a step back from last year, which is to be expected coming off a team record breaking year.

What happens with the defense is what will matter in terms of wins and loses – and if they can just get to around 20th, the team will be in great shape.

  89. mark2001 Says:

Liked going for it…need to see what this line is capable of. Those situations don’t come around too often. A work in progress.

  90. BucsBandit Says:

LOL @ Rod. YOU are the emotional crybaby that gets all worked on to defend your hero, Winston.

You lack the reasonable fortitude to admit that Winston has sucked it up with his turnovers and his big yardage stats owe a large chunk to playing against soft defenses when we were down by 2-3 scores. Yes, that was the Defenses fault (except when he turned it over) but it doesn’t take away from the fact that he racked up tons of yards against prevent defenses in 2nd halves. If you can’t admit that then you’re either blind and didn’t actually see him play or you’re just a homer.

  91. Rod Munch Says:

Alvin – LOL! Now you know why they brought in a male cheerleader, there’s a part of the audience that is into that.

  92. Dapostman Says:

Enjoy your posting Kobe because after RoJo gets a 50 yard game I expect you to be gone like you said you would.

  93. JimmyJack Says:

Wow are the Steelers still running out of the I formation? WTHeck

  94. Rod Munch Says:

I normally like going for it, but not there. We should want to see as many real kicks as possible.

But I don’t mind it – but the call wasn’t very good, when it’s obvious they’re run stuffing up the gut, audible out of it. But perhaps those are not in place yet, not big deal in game one.

  95. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

    Ray Jay

You can be a fan and criticize the team when it’s valid…

  96. Rod Munch Says:

    Wow, nice play by VH3!

  97. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Munch, I know you are an old dude. Congratulations on being “Archie Bunker,” don’t let Edith sit in your chair.

  98. MadMax Says:

    VH3 had that INT…DANG man!

  99. Rod Munch Says:

Good to see the refs are in mid-season shape, taking away a big play.

Oh well, the Bucs did get a BS call last drive, so I guess that equals it out.

  100. Bird Says:

Cmon 3 and 21 and they get it.
    Not good enough.

  101. El Buco Realisto Says:

wow, Steelers backups schooled the buc starters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  102. JimmyJack Says:

Yes maybe I was wrong when I said more potent offense. I shoulda said more well rounded offense. It might put up less stats won’t be going entire halves at a time with no points…….I would call that a better offense despite what stats say. To each their own.

Now just figure out 3rd & 1 and we will be extreme difficult to stop.

  103. gobuxfla Says:

Spence will get at least 10 gassers for that. No reason for that penalty.

  104. Rod Munch Says:

    Alvin – I’m 69 years young.

  105. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

You can’t give up a 3rd and 21, but we did. Impressed with Spence’s play. Nice to see Hargreaves look like he might belong. Offense looks pretty good. Agreed they should have kicked a field goal on 4th. Need to put Gay in game situations.

  106. mark2001 Says:

    Realisto…Defense without Suh…btw!!!!!!

  107. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    El Buco Realisto Says
“wow, Steelers backups schooled the buc starters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

That would be hard considering the starters were pulled already.

  108. cmurda Says:

That hands to the face call was complete horsecrap. I looked back at that play. Phantom call that robbed VH3 of his great pick. More importantly, preseason or not and backups or not, this team continues to suck defending 3rd and long. It’s inexcusable to have 7 defenders in a zone and let a WR slant you up. Zero pressure from D Line. Spence looks good but geting to the QB ain’t enough. Finish the sack.

  109. JimmyJack Says:

That’s now 2 big plays by the defense…..A force fumble and a pick. Neither play got finished but great to see the potential!!!

Time to keep hitting the practice field and sharpen the edges.

  110. DB55 Says:

Bunting has until the end of the first half to pick it off.

  111. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Alvin,

Archie Bunker was a great show in its day. And he was no more racist than Ian Beckles.

  112. rrsrq Says:

Noah Spence spending time in the Pitt backfield

  113. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Man…too many penalties!

  114. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – I just put no stock in the lack of running game argument. Hump was an extension of the running game, he played the role of Charles Sims once he was cut in that he was the guy at the LOS getting all those easy passes. The Bucs had no issues moving the ball, no issues winning the time of possession, etc. If they can get the yards running, that’s fine, but they can just as easy get 5 yards with a short pass. If the team was having issues with 3 and outs, if the defense was gassed and being put right back out there, then sure – but we had no issues with that, which is why I don’t think the lack of running was much of an issue.

  115. MadMax Says:

Man, Dobbs is fast….4.6 40 but looked faster.

  116. firethecannons Says:

hot damn noah spence is working it–leave him in the game!

  117. Rod Munch Says:

Meh, not too worried about the QB run, if the Bucs were game planning for it then that would be one thing, but whatever.

  118. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

    Munch – I’m 59.
Bonzai – come on man. You can’t compare Bunker to Beckles, other than their names both start with the letter “B.”

  119. Figures Says:

    Is devin white playing?
    Haven’t heard his name once.

  120. Bobbo Says:

So far super impressed. Big Ben won’t be running like that, but they probably need a spy.

  121. ChanEpic Says:

Hello and happy preseason everyone. The Bucs offense will be deadly this year and it feels so good saying that. Go BUCS!

  122. Rod Munch Says:

Alvin – We should get together for an early bird dinner at Denny’s. I got a coupon for a free pancake stack.

  123. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Alvin Scissors Harper Says
“Bonzai – come on man. You can’t compare Bunker to Beckles, other than their names both start with the letter “B.”

Oh please…he is a total racist. Have you never heard his hate speak before?

  124. JimmyJack Says:

I don’t know Rod……I seem to recall getting beaten in time of possession. And I’m not sure what Hump is going to do for you when you are in a obvisous running situation, like trying to ice a game for example.

  125. Rod Munch Says:

Figures – White was out there earlier in the drive on the play where VH3 made the INT, but I think they pulled him right after that. He wasn’t in later in the drive.

  126. Walkergodeep Says:

    Figures Says:

    Is devin white playing?
    Haven’t heard his name once

Yeah he’s been flying over the field

  127. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – The only game where the Bucs really badly lost the time of possession was the Baltimore game where Godwin dropped a ton of passes, but mainly the defense couldn’t stop them at all in the second half.

Anyways when I checked the TOP stats near the end of the year, the Bucs were 7th I believe (although doing it by memory).

  128. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Anyway, enough of that. It’s game day.

Rojo looked much improved. Barber did too. In fact, Barber looked extremely good.

    Evan Smith is looking bad.

Devin White DID have his name called. He got a shared sack, Figures.

  129. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Griff!

    I want Vinny in!

  130. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Safety coming.

  131. Rod Munch Says:

Offense suddenly is just running up the middle for no gain on 1st down… Looks like Dirk is back on the sideline.

  132. Rod Munch Says:

Bonzai – I agree, I wanna see a Testaverde in the game again before I die. Problem is I think they cut him yesterday.

  133. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Rod Munch, it’s because the backups are in. I saw one of them laughing after earning a penalty.

  134. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    That was a great kick.

  135. JimmyJack Says:

Bonzai good call on RoJo……He looks legit. If he gets a full workload he looks primed to break off a big run.

Ellington looks decent too. Would like to see Dare do something too. Heard his name a lot coming out of camp.

  136. Rod Munch Says:

Ryan Smith is a good special teams player, he should just never see the field on defense.

  137. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

    Yeah, Bonzai, he’s cut.
Munch, let’s go to the early bird with the pancake stack and I’ll treat you to an early bird AARP movie before 7.

  138. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Rod Munch, dang, I just checked. You’re right!

    Darn it.

  139. Rod Munch Says:

Bonzai – Yeah, I was just being a smartass and taking a shot at Dirk with his stupid run up the middle on every 1st down in the 1st half of games.

  140. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Is Nick Fitz active?

  141. Figures Says:

    Ok cool.

    I must’ve missed it.

I really hope Devin White is as advertised. Really rooting for that dude.

  142. Rod Munch Says:

Ryan Smith there on defense in regular season form, meaning giving up a pass where he’s 3 yards off the guy and gives up an easy first down.

  143. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Wow. Is this third string defense? They are coming late…that’s why they’re not stopping them. Very slow.

  144. BucsBandit Says:

    Anyone watching on NFL Network?

Gotta be the worst announcers I’ve ever heard in my life.

  145. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Nice that Brice got him…but he should have gotten him the first time.

  146. rrsrq Says:

Our LBs are not rookies, should a RB get through the whole untouched

  147. Rod Munch Says:

Ryan Smith was literally in the frame on every bad play this drive. He gave up the easy first down, he was trailing the guy on the pass over the middle, he got turned around on that last run… Typical Ryan Smith.

  148. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @BucsBandit

I was going to, but they said local would be the Vikings game for Tampa. So I switched to wfla.

  149. JimmyJack Says:

Kentrell Brice looks completely lost out there. Nice speed that goes nowhere.

  150. K2 Says:

Most of these guys won’t make the team…searching for some diamonds.

  151. ed kerber Says:

Most of the people playing from 2nd quarter on will not make team

  152. mark2001 Says:

Yeah BucsB…they are total homers. And they haven’t said one thing with any insight…might a well turn the sound down.

  153. AUSSIE ANT Says:

    Bucs Bandit,

I agree they pretty much ignore we are there I get it’s a Steelers broadcast but damn.

  154. BucsBandit Says:

@Bonzai – soooo bad. One guy has the worst pronunciation of Buccaneer last names ever. Very painful to listen to their painful commentary.

  155. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Holy crap…put that guy on the team! lol

  156. T REX Says:

I like what I saw from JW.

Not sold on the running game at all.

The defense is going to give up a lot of big plays.

    Zero depth.

    Still looking at 6-10.

  157. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

MJ was trying to push the guy out of bounds instead of going for the ball. He could have blocked that.

  158. JimmyJack Says:

We got Ronde doing the color analysis here in Tampa. He’s fun to listen to & is cool that he didn’t sell out and still calls the preseason games now that he’s a national voice.

  159. Walkergodeep Says:

Why we drafted mj Stewart I’ll never know

  160. Rod Munch Says:

Oooof… Stewart does what he did all last year, which is looking like another Ryan Smith…

  161. jughead Says:

    That steriod freak tho……….

  162. JimmyJack Says:

Now I know what I will be watching for in the next couple of preseason games. This 2nd and 3rd string defense has got to get better. No if ands or buts

  163. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – Yeah Ronde does a good job, just too bad he’s dragged down by that bore Chris Meyers, he’s awful.

  164. jughead Says:

    *steroid

  165. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

It was only one series, but the starting offense looked enjoyable to me. Starting defense (although a bunch are injured) looked okay. That;s expected though. Defenses always start slow for us…plus first 3-4 experience.

  166. JimmyJack Says:

It now looks very obvious to know why they drafted the way they did. the back end of this defense is getting eaten alive right now.

  167. Dewey Selmon Says:

Anyone else notice when they go to a commercial they use the old skull logo on the bottom of the screen? only been 5 years. The score on top has the right logo, wait until the bottom score.

  168. JimmyJack Says:

Yeah Meyers is a monotone snooze.

  169. Rod Munch Says:

Ooof… Griffin with no pocket awareness there.

  170. JimmyJack Says:

    I wanna see Vincent Testerverde.

  171. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Chris Myers is absolutely awful as a play by play guy.

  172. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Poor Griffin. That boy is toast.

I’m not totally sold on Gabbert as backup, but he;s the best we’ve got right now. So far.

  173. AUSSIE ANT Says:

Wow griffin is looking terrible. I thought he’d be QB2, but I’m doubting that right now.

  174. AUSSIE ANT Says:

    Jimmy Jack,

Vincent got cut this week. He definitely won’t be playing tonight.

  175. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

At least Ryan Smith went for the ball.

  176. BucsBandit Says:

Anyone seen the ‘red’ theme old Bucco Bruce logo shirt?

Such an awesome design. I’d love to see them replace the skull with goofy football logo on the helmet with the old Bucco Bruce logo, but make logo on red (or pewter) and not orange.

  177. JimmyJack Says:

Defense came with a little bit of fire that series. Glad to see them bounce back.

  178. DB55 Says:

I thought Vinny got cut on Thursday and then resigned yesterday.

That’s #2 QB position is ripe for the taking.

    #FreeColinKapernick

  179. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Jesus Christ. The return game is absolutely awful. Is Scotty Miller possibly the guy? I’m certainly not impressed with the guys they’ve put back there so far, or the blocking.

  180. Rod Munch Says:

Dewey – Interesting observation – although I’m guessing it’s mainly just the bad Channel 8 production team probably never even noticed themselves.

But next year they can change the logo and uniforms – and they need to get that done, the current uniforms are awful, universally hated.

  181. DB55 Says:

    *Wednesday

  182. DB55 Says:

Let’s see Gay go for a long one. Lolololol

  183. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Alvin Scissors Harper, I wouldn’t worry about it that much right now.

I thought Gay was not kicking this game?

  184. JimmyJack Says:

I noticed that our first stringers played pretty cleanly. now that they’re down to 2nd and 3rd stringers the penalties are piling up.

Is team still needs more practice and coaching and I hope to see it make a difference in the next couple games.

  185. Rod Munch Says:

Lots of hype on Tanner Hudson just catching everything – he’s showing it in this game with some nice catches. From what I’ve read/heard, he’s basically a Brate clone, meaning he doesn’t really have the speed/quickness to get open, but it doesn’t matter in that he will catch it. If they can find a guy like that, it would be huge since you doubt Brate will be kept around next season at his salary.

  186. JimmyJack Says:

Heard that long FGs are extremely rare in Heiz Field. I think Joe said it in his podcast. Longest FG ever in that stadium is not much over 50.

  187. DB55 Says:

Looks better than Auclair. Looks like a protype TE to me but wtfdik

  188. JimmyJack Says:

Come the F on with these freaking pentalties.

Many of these players are just not ready for the big time.

  189. D-Rome Says:

I think Ryan Griffin looks better than Blaine Gabbert.

  190. Buc believer Says:

We may have a Gay kicker!

  191. webster Says:

Anyone saying beckles is a racist is an idiot. Do you know how many white friends this man has? Hate speech? Ive never heard it. Now if you call hate speech him calling out some of the tribulations minorities sometime go through in this country hate speech, then I guess. Beckles events, parties etc are filled with all types of nationalities unlike the GOP national conventions.

    Btw….great kick matt gay!!!

  192. Unimpressed Says:

    GAYYYYYYYYYYY

  193. Jordan L Says:

    Gay looks like SeBass

  194. JimmyJack Says:

    Pressure Kick….Nice

  195. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Bonzai – why would you sit your rookie kicker who needs to be our kicker?
    Great field goal. Gay!!!

  196. DB55 Says:

    eXtREMly RarE

  197. Rod Munch Says:

…and the male cheerleader goes wild!

  198. JimmyJack Says:

    My heart just fluttered.

  199. Jameis Almighty! Says:

MJ. Stewart is brutal. Cut him and keep 2 kickers.

  200. AUSSIE ANT Says:

Is anyone else hearing the commentary teams internal chats? I’m watching on Gamepass

  201. Jameis Almighty! Says:

My farts smell better than Ronde’s analysis….

  202. JimmyJack Says:

Almighty it’s preseason game 1. Calm down with the kneejerk cuts and exercise patience while MJ finishes his training.

  203. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Jameis Almighty!, MJ Stewart wasn’t great, but he wasn’t bad either. He also saved a touchdown from being scored.

Could he play better? Sure. I would prefer he keep his eye on the ball more so he can smack it down or pick it off. But he wasn’t horrible.

  204. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Another Preseason game, another game where no one is really making a GOOD name for themselves.

  205. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Daniels is fun!

  206. TampaTown Says:

Thought I’d see more Noah Spence talk

  207. unbelievable Says:

realist is such a clown lol

    Goodnight all, headed out!

  208. JimmyJack Says:

Wow this 2nd/3rd string defense looked really pitiful at first but have been playing with a lot of intensity after giving up the TD. Very encouraging.

Especially that 1st series after halftime……..Whatever adjustments they have made are showing up.

  209. gilhealy Says:

That’s it for Mitchell. Poor guy.

  210. Rod Munch Says:

TampaTown – Spence has played quite a bit, been getting good pressure.

  211. JimmyJack Says:

Two things that will likely go overlooked.

Ryan Griffen leading a very good 1 minute offense. Clutch!

The play from our OL(1st & 2nd teams). All reports from camp sounded like this was going to be a long night for the OL but they have held their own in pass and run block. Gotta clean up the pentalties.

  212. Cubano Bucanero Says:

Heard that long FGs are extremely rare in Heiz Field. I think Joe said it in his podcast. Longest FG ever in that stadium is not much over 50.

    Matt Gay: “hold my beer”

  213. ElioT Says:

Four preseason games is too much.

If they extend the regular season, they’d better trim the exhibitions.

  214. Rod Munch Says:

Tanner Hudson, 3 receptions, 53 yards, on 3 targets.

He really is someone you should keep an eye on.

I agree with whoever said they don’t get what anyone sees in Auclair.

  215. AUSSIE ANT Says:

What the hell. That was terrible

  216. Rod Munch Says:

ElioT – Agreed, they need to just switch to an 18 game schedule, with 2 preseason games, and 2 bye weeks.

Since the rise of NFL RedZone, I love bye weeks.

  217. Dreambig Says:

Wow, this feels familiar! Buccaneer football at its finest. I know it just preseason but it still smells the same.

  218. JimmyJack Says:

Anybody see who missed that tackle?

Non-tackling has been tolerated for much too long around here.

  219. TampaTown Says:

    No depth

  220. Dapostman Says:

Will guys stop calling for Ryan Griffin anytime soon?

  221. mark2001 Says:

Town…alot of depth comes from player development. And we have been down right awful on doing that the last few years.

  222. Natebucsfan Says:

Deffinately dont need our starters injured, or it will be a very short season like the past few seasons. Tired of watching the bucs just playing to lose to get a top draft pick.

  223. firethecannons Says:

Ryan Griffin and Antony Auclair are playing awful!

  224. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – Was hard to see from the TV angle, but it was one of the rookie DBs I’m pretty sure.

  225. Denny gay Says:

Glad to read everyone’s comments. It allows me to follow the game. Can’t watch the game on Direct TV. Can’t show it on NFL Network and I guess Direct TV is fighting with NBC, so no game

  226. mark2001 Says:

I’d be surprised to see Griffin or Auclair make the 53 this year.

  227. Rod Munch Says:

Denny – The Bucs are broadcasting the game on their website within the state, so you might be able to watch it there. No cost or anything.

  228. Rod Munch Says:

mark2001 – Auclair is apparently the blocking TE, but he offers nothing in the passing game, but he seems pretty safe to make the team.

Griffin, yeah, he’s almost certainly gone.

  229. TampaTown Says:

    Mark2001-
Agreed. Player development has been nearly nonexistent

  230. firethecannons Says:

ok may be wrong griffin with a beauty to auclair

  231. Rod Munch Says:

Griffin and Auclair heard the criticism apparently and stepped up.

  232. JimmyJack Says:

Auclair gets way too many holding pentalties……Especially for getting not many snaps.

That negates any blocking prowless he brought in my book.

  233. Rod Munch Says:

Nice moves by Ogunbowale there, very shifty.

  234. Rod Munch Says:

I don’t know about going for two, I’d want to see those XP’s getting kicked.

  235. firethecannons Says:

Lol Rod Munch! no doubt they saw me spike the remote on a previous miss.

  236. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Don’t understand why go for 2….3rd string…..need to look at kickers…..we also went for it on 4th & 1 in FG range earlier….

  237. JimmyJack Says:

I did like going for 4th &1. Goalline offense is extremely vital & needs the reps.

  238. mark2001 Says:

That crazy official is about as bad as they get. Hope to never see him again.

  239. Rod Munch Says:

Jesus Christ… these refs are throwing the flag on every other play.

  240. Rod Munch Says:

Ronde just said Kendell Beckwith retired? Is that true?

  241. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

LMAO! How many 3rd and longs have we given up tonight?

  242. Tut Says:

Beckwith retired… wow. I guess we have the answer to that question.

  243. Denny gay Says:

    Thanks Rod, didn’t know that.

  244. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Terrible on third & long…..

  245. ModHairKen Says:

Nice job Ronde, running your big mouth about something that was not your right to announce.

  246. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Not THAT is what I call pressure on the QB….LMAO!

  247. Rod Munch Says:

Man, Bunting has had a really bad night.

Preseason game 1, so not going to panic about it, but he’s been Ryan Smith level bad.

  248. firethecannons Says:

SMB what happened to you dude–nothing all game wow he is always late

  249. Rod Munch Says:

The Steelers have a 133.3 QB rating tonight…

    Yikes.

BUT, Winston had a 134.0 QB rating… so yay!

  250. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Their scrubs look better than our scrubs…..

  251. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    ST penalties…..terrible……

  252. Rod Munch Says:

We are winning the penalty war, 11-6!

The score of the 2000 NFC Championship game.

    It’s a sign….

  253. TonyC Says:

Ok you football incompetents we dominated the first quarter and really the half so what’s your complaint? Everybody on this site wants to micromanage every play. Boy do I miss the 70’s.

  254. JimmyJack Says:

Rod & I think our starters had just one pentalty. So that makes for 10 of them pentalties in basically one half(2nd/3rd quarter).

This is worth following IMO. I expect to see sloppy things like that improve during the preseason.

  255. JimmyJack Says:

Two pentalties since my last comment.

  256. Rod Munch Says:

I put the penalties more on the refs – it’s game one of the preseason and the refs need to keep their whistles in their pockets unless something is blatant, and they’re calling a ton of ticky tack stuff.

But preseason penalties with 2nd and 3rd teamers is pretty much the norm, in particular with all new coaches and a new system.

  257. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Glad to see someone’s team’s 3rd/4th stringers are making a name for themselves.

  258. Rod Munch Says:

TonyC – Have to have something to talk about when the starters only play one series. In the 70s the starters played a lot more than one series, well in addition to 6 preseason games.

  259. MadMax Says:

    Denny, google livetotal

  260. MadMax Says:

Yeah, not impressed with Bunting…was scratching my head when they picked him…eh, its preseason and a rookie so hopefully he’ll come around.

  261. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – Another 43 penalties since your last post.

  262. JimmyJack Says:

And a dropped INT and probably another missed tackle.

Defientally some work to be done that’s for sure.

  263. cmurda Says:

Initial impressions are that once again we have no depth. The rookies didn’t exactly make me feel like our secondary is fixed Bruce. Far from it. Not exactly impressive however the starters looked great.

  264. JimmyJack Says:

    Testerverde time?

  265. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – Testaverde got cut yesterday.

Which is lame, not sure why you don’t carry 4 QBs for a game just like this.

  266. JimmyJack Says:

Rod I thought I heard he was on the roster for this game.

Bummer to hear that. Just wanted to see him take a snap for the novelty of it.

  267. Rod Munch Says:

Austin Johnson looks like an NFL WR, just in terms of size and the way he moves. He’s someone to keep an eye on as well.

  268. Rod Munch Says:

    Anthony Johnson, not Austin.

  269. Rod Munch Says:

Anthony Johnson draft profile… In 2012 was ejected out of the rear window of a vehicle and landed on his head.

  270. Rod Munch Says:

Wow, what a catch by Hudson.

    He’s made the team.

  271. firethecannons Says:

we got some decent 3rd and 4th string tight ends wtf was that griffin threw the ball in the dirt i’m thinking he has arm fatigue hot damn griffin AWFUL something is wrong with him the tight end caught the ball 2yards away from his body

  272. MadMax Says:

Griffin sucks bad…good on a few but way off over a lot.

  273. Rod Munch Says:

firethecannons – Yeah, Griffin has made a couple of nice passes, but overall hasn’t looked very good. I’ve never been impressed by his arm, but apparently during practice he has excellent accuracy – but that hasn’t come through in preseason games really.

  274. Rod Munch Says:

Tanner Hudson, 6 targets, 6 receptions, 71 yards and a TD.

He has looked great, all that hype I’ve heard from practice has really come through on the field.

  275. Bobbo Says:

Who is tanner Hudson? Guy has been lighting up the Steeler backups, and it looks like he played QB in college. Might be a better security blanket than keeping RG4, who really hasn’t looked great

  276. cmurda Says:

One more thing. Ryan Griffin is straight trash. I don’t care about this pure crap line from the last coaching staff about how great he is. He’s garbage. Gabbert is right behind him. One thing that is for sure is Winston won’t have to worry about either one.

  277. Rod Munch Says:

Bobbo – Hudson is the #4 TE, but has been lighting it up in practice, catches everything that is anywhere near him – that’s what I heard before this game. Doesn’t have great speed or quickness, but the comparison for him is Brate – same kind of guy. He’s shown it tonight, and they’re going to keep 4 TEs in any case since there is no FB in this offense.

  278. firethecannons Says:

yes I agree Griffin good in practice only
was expecting much better from our new secondary wowee some serious to do over next few weeks somewhat frustrating our first string looked solid Barber looked damn good too

  279. MadMax Says:

Yeah, Hudson looks like a keeper….replace Auclair as long as his blocking is good.

  280. Rod Munch Says:

MadMax – From what I’ve heard Hudson is very much a receiving first TE, not much of a blocker, just like Brate. Auclair seems pretty safe since he’s the blocking guy. Again they’re going to keep 4 TE’s, maybe 5, since they run a base two TE offense.

  281. ed kerber Says:

i’ve seen enough from Griffin. Time move on. There is nothing to left to see. bring in another QB candidate.

  282. JimmyJack Says:

4th big play from the defense. This time we finally convert for the takeaway.

We have missed one fumble recorery dropped a pick & had another taken away from pentalty.

Lot of work to be done on defense to clean up sloppy play & technique but playmaking ability is defiently prevelant……..Something we haven’t been able to say in a long time.

  283. MadMax Says:

Yeah, Auclair can def block, so if they keep 4 then we now know.

  284. MadMax Says:

    Schnell83 is looking good too.

  285. Rod Munch Says:

Griffin has a very Nick Foles type of game… He has 295 yards passing, and a TD, yet watching the game you’d think he’s awful (and you’d be right).

  286. JimmyJack Says:

Why aren’t yall check out some other preseason games and watch some other 3rd string QBs for perspective. Then tell me about Griffen

  287. JimmyJack Says:

Dude ran a clutch drive in the one minute drive now gonna lead us to a fourth quarter comeback and y’all call him garbage. Ridiculous.

  288. firethecannons Says:

on board with keeping tanner hudson and spencer schnell
    before keeping auclair

  289. Rod Munch Says:

The problem with Griffin, to me, is that he just doesn’t have an NFL arm. He gets better as the game goes along, but that’s more about he’s playing guys deeper and deeper down the roster. If he played a regular season game, the season would be over.

The issue is I don’t think Blaine is any better.

  290. JimmyJack Says:

Griffin leading a sloppy Bucs team to a fourth quarter comeback. And his OL got destroyed in the fourth quarter too. That aren’t awful. Ridicilous

  291. MadMax Says:

Well at least its a very entertaining ending….

  292. Rod Munch Says:

The play calling on those 2pt conversions were terrible.

I mean not a huge deal in game one of the preseason, but still, they got to work on that.

  293. Rod Munch Says:

MadMax – Yeah, agreed, entertaining ending.

  294. firethecannons Says:

Nice chatting with you all! Griffin–some good stuff and some very bad stuff impressed with Dare O and the tight ends(Scnell and Hudson) Good night. Go Bucs!

  295. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – Griffin made some nice passes, but got bailed out with some really good catches and the fact the Steeler tried to run with the ball instead of just falling on it. But was a good effort at the end.

  296. MadMax Says:

2 keepers fo sho….Hudson and Schnell!!!

  297. Rod Munch Says:

Schnell should get a look earlier in the game and see what he can do, but he looked good at the end. Hudson certainly made the roster, no way you’re letting him go based on camp and this game.

  298. JimmyJack Says:

    Was a fun game reguardless.

Lot of good to take away & a lot of bad too.

Look forward to seeing an even better version of this Bucs team in the next few games leading up to the regular season.

    GO BUCS!!!

  299. Rod Munch Says:

56 passing plays, only 22 run plays, that’s going to upset the 50/50 crowd.

  300. cmurda Says:

Rod, the other problem with Griffin is that he blows. Yes, Blaine blows as much. Thankfully this was a preseason game because if I watched Griffin throw the ball to the dirt in front of a receiver yet again, my TV would be broken. Griff, we are down 2 and I know it’s a preseason game but you throwing an idiotic ball into the dirt when it’s do or die tells me all I need to know.

  301. Elita Vita Says:

Is there an online radio show we can hear the post game comments?

  302. Bobbo Says:

Griffin has never played against a real defense in a game that counts. Any half-decent QB can light up a third string defense. Yea his OL failed him tonight but I can’t see keeping him on the 53. Gabbert has been mediocre in the regular season. Griff has been mediocre in preseason

  303. Cobraboy Says:

I have never been so happy the Bics flubbed a two-point conversion in my life!

Hudson and Schnell deserve more opportunities. Both balled.

Schnell reminds me a little of Humphries.

  304. MadMax Says:

Need to go 2nd/3rd string QB shopping….Big time!

  305. MadMax Says:

Dont get me wrong, Griffin looked good on some of his throws, especially while throwing on the run that one play in the 3rd, it was accurate….but then he makes these errant throws that make you want to say “no way man”…how can he be so accurate on a few plays and then WAY inaccurate on the others?

  306. RODNEY ALLEN Says:

I know its preseason but that first offensive drive looked pretty good n i know the first defensive stop was against a 2nd string qb but other than vh3 getting beat on that first deep pass the d looked good. I have a feeling vh3 wont get burned like that too often this year

  307. Cobraboy Says:

@MadMad: both QB’s would look much better behind the #1 OL.

I suspect the bottom of the OL roster is going to get churned on Cutdown Day.
