Slimmed Down Mike Evans

July 29th, 2019

Slimmer.

Joe doesn’t really have a habit of making it a priority to check out dudes’ bodies. But apparently, a very important person on the Bucs roster has slimmed down.

We’ve heard this summer about America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, wanting to put on pounds. And we’ve seen running back Ronald Jones publish social media posts about his weight gain.

However, with wide receiver Mike Evans, it’s different. He slimmed down to get faster. That’s the word from prickly Pete Prisco of CBS Sports.

Evans, the team’s best receiver, has trimmed down some and should be even quicker than in recent years. Evans said he cut back on some of his bad eating habits, but not all of them. “Trying to eat a little bit better, but still trying to enjoy life,” Evans said. “I definitely feel quicker. In this offense, I am going to have more opportunities to catch and run, so I am excited about that.”

This is good on several levels. First, Evans seems aware that as a special NFL player, he just cannot stay stagnant and let the young cornerbacks catch up to his level. So props to Evans for finding yet another way to better himself.

Yesterday in practice, Evans was tearing apart the Bucs defense. He looks every bit the player he has been. In a two-minute drill, he created separation for a big catch along the right sideline that set up a field goal.

Maybe Evans doesn’t make that play; doesn’t get that separation if he was still jamming Taco Bell burritos in his grill?

Mike and Godwin are going to be MONSTERS this year. It wouldn’t surprise me if we had the top passing offense.

I’m guessing he heard about all you people talking about that meaningless stat “YAC” !! …but if it’s good for him. GO BUCS GO FAMOUS GO SUHY GO ME13!!

Gonna be doubled all year over the top and Godwin gonna torch some fools.

Till they wise up, then Evans has a 3 TD 250 yds game.

If OJ plays to his potential and Perriman and Watson show up like they have so far, this could easily be the best Offense in the NFL

I thought he was already pretty skinny . Where did he lose more ?

Regardless , everyday it’s mike Evans or Godwin story.
Could develop into one of the top 1-2 punches in NFL

And Jameis is comfortable with both.
We have too many weapons at receiver and tight end. And Arians has commented so. No reason Jameis can’t throw for 5,000 yards this year.
    Good problem to have

Hit him in stride like Johnny Manziel did and there will be a lot of TD’s

  11. Slugglife Says:

Yes Haynes, yards after catch is a meaningless stat. It doesn’t help your offense when you you take a 10 yard pass 60 yards downfield. Nope. No help at all.

    Thanks for the genius insight.

  12. Slugglife Says:

Just catch the ball and fall down. Just don’t tell that to Julio or Antonio. Let them continue to get the “meaningless stat.”

Ummmm… pretty sure those were jump balls to Evans after mad scrambles. Manziel wasn’t exactly a pocket QB.
