It’s Alive!

July 29th, 2019

Surfaces.

The following is not a Chinese hoax. It is not an urban rumor. It is not an optical illusion. The film is not doctored.

Bucs running back Ronald Jones had a nice run yesterday — yes he did! Jones actually ran for a long touchdown in Bucs practice Sunday. No, really! There’s proof. Video proof even!

On an afternoon when Bucco Bruce Arians scolded his offensive line for soiling themselves and the rush defense was damn near dominant, swallowing up running backs behind the line of scrimmage, Jones, the embattled Bucs’ second-round pick of a running back who had a downright horrible rookie season,  actually had a helluva practice.

Well, by his standards at least.

Jones, who causes people to mumble “bust,” actually looked as if he belonged in the NFL when he took a handoff, ran to the right side, broke a few arm tackles, and was off to paydirt.

Now to be fair to the defense, they weren’t allowed to drop ballcarriers to the ground, even though the Bucs were in pads. So it is likely Jones would have been hammered to the turf rather than bear-hugged by a couple of defenders.

Still, the run was perhaps the most impressive thing Jones has done since he was drafted.

If Jones can string a couple of those types of runs together in games, Joe cannot imagine just how much better that will make the Bucs offense.

Rojo had a nice first move – he was able to make a good shuttle cut without stopping and getting crushed behind the line like last year. He looked fast, which is a good first sign.

  2. D-Rome Says:

When RoJo looks good in training camp the mouth breathers are like “Go Bucs, Super Bowl here we come” but if critical of Jay-Miss throwing INTs the same people say, “It’s only training camp, means nothing.”

  3. Bucsfanman Says:

Yay! He made ONE run! Sorry, the sarcasm overtook me!
This is what he should look like. Keep working.

  4. Race to 10 Says:

Well to be fair it was media like toy that started the bust train not sure why you or anyone Is surprised that a player looks better in the second year than they did as a rookie

how bad are we to have such article posted its unbelievable

  6. NOSBOS Says:

I mean the Bucs were 8th in the league last season in tackles for lost with 85. Kinda what we do.

  7. NOSBOS Says:

BA made an aging Chris Johnson look decent in his system, I’m sure Rojo and Peyton will eat well this season. I’m still perplexed at how folks are down on Peyton’s 871 yard off 234 carries. Like, another 50 carries would’ve made him a thousand yard rusher.

  8. NOSBOS Says:

    I just don’t get it.

  9. DB55 Says:

    Yea this is crazy.

Is it me or did BA age 20 years from Saturday to Sunday? Dude looked like reality smacked him dead in the face yesterday.

They’re still playing flag football. I expect most NFL defenses will seem easy compared to what he will face every week in practice. The OL is not great, but it’s also not set yet. There will be changes made there. The Bucs will run the ball much more than they did under Koetter.

  12. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

    No attempt to tackle. Geeez.

  13. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

That was a 5 yard run right into the arms of two tacklers who aren’t allowed to tackle.. SMFH!

    That’s it! That’s ROJO’s greatest highlight.

  14. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I have news for everyone. That oline IS set. These changes being talked about are not going to happen…not so far as bringing in a new guy.

  15. Buc4evr Says:

I’m good with 5 yard runs. I just don’t want our backs to get wrapped up in the backfield anymore.

  16. BringBucsBack Says:

“I see your Swartz is larger than mine.”

Rojo seems too upright at the point of contact, at the 5 yard gain. I didn’t quite feel the sonic boom of the rocket up his derrière, either. However, this is better than the previous output of nothing, I guess.

  17. Tim Says:

If this were full speed that is a 5 yd gain.
Not a bad run, but nothing to get over hyped about either.

    GIVE HIM THE SEDAGIVE!

    Winston Derangement Syndrome?

The article’s about Rojo last time I checked….

    Yep Winston Derangement Syndrome.

  20. BA FAN Says:

Right now in public the Offense is running vanilla plays so as to not give up their playbook so it is easier for the Defense to tee off on them because our DC has so many blitzes in his book that there is no problem for showing a few of them to train Jameis and the OL to react to blitzes and see how the RBs block etc. and if our OL can pick them up.

  21. Bojim Says:

    Good for his confidence.

    Amen!
