Ryan Jensen Says O-Line Will Surprise, Arians Accountability Difference From Koetter “Sticks Out”

May 14th, 2019

Hear Ryan Jensen talk about coaching differences last night

Center Ryan Jensen sang the sweet music of “big change” arriving for the Buccaneers last night in Tampa.

It put a smile on Joe’s face and Joe suspects it will warm the heart of many fans.

JoeBucsFan.com intern Zach Seifter was patrolling Donovan Smith’s charity bowling event for autism (yes, Joe paid the young man’s $100 entry fee, and Joe coughed up his own $85 for the cause) and was talking all things Bucs with a lot of players in between his time on the lanes.

One guy Seifter caught up to was Jensen.

“There’s quite a bit of different stuff,” Jensen said regarding the Koetter regime versus the Arians staff. “The one thing that really sticks out to me is the way B.A. is going to keep guys accountable. And that’s big. You know, he’s got that personality that he wants to win and it’s the guys’ team, the players’ team. That’s how he approaches it, where he’s just a head coach but the culture he’s trying to set is that it’s the players’ team. And that comes with players keeping players accountable, and I think that’s going to be a big change this year for us.”

Enjoy the audio cut from Jensen above. It’s got this quote and more about the offensive line.

Jensen was not the only Buccaneer talking about a new — and different — level of accountability for Bucs players.

Too much nonsense was tolerated by Bucs coaches, players and the front office through the last two seasons. Joe is confident that won’t continue. Will it equal wins? It’s a start, a very healthy start.

    3, 2, 1…queue the ignorant.

You know, all the negative detractors who end all their posts with FIRE LICHT!!!!! (And insist on the over-use of exclamation pints.)

Thanks for a positive article, Joe. Nice to read. I’m excited about BA’s adult leadership and how it will manifest to a 10-6 record and our first playoff appearance in over a decade.

  2. John P Garvey Says:

At the point of show me the money! I like the talk, I really do, but we hear it every year and the Bucs lose every year just as consistently.
Just want to see some wins, to be in the race for a playoff spot in late November.

I think we all can agree, Koetter’s staff was an abject failure.

  5. The Buc Realist Says:

Smart on jensen’s part!!!!! I don’t know how much it will “really” help him in the future!!!!!! But smart to suck up to the new coaches, especially when your the under performing, over paid free agent!!!!!!!!!! next year will be when they can get out from under his contract!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Snook Says:

    Keeping guys accountable??? Imagine that!

If you need any more proof, check out how butt hurt McCoy is. #93 has been the polar opposite of accountable since his arrival in Tampa. Soft and whiny.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I’m one who believes coaching can and will make a difference….

  8. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

blah blah blah…. if koetters staff was so terrible how did nassib flourish? how did peyton barber become this great RB that barry arians melrose love? How did cameron brate, bobo wilson, the walmart DB (guy who led bucs in ints) how did they all flourish? Licht got borderline NFL talent on this team and koetter got it all out. 5-11 talent licht acquired can only do so much

  9. The Buc Realist Says:

guess we now know, which schlub that will push ole coach stale biscuit’s golf cart if he loses juice at training camp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL!!!!! Can’t wait until we see this love fest turn into the on the field disaster!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Bird Says:

I always thought George Warhop had naked pictures of one of the glazer family
Not sure what he did as a position coach

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Speaking of naked pictures…..a Fla Judge has disallowed the video and he may escape prosecution…..money talks…..

  12. DooshLaRue Says:

    @Todd

Pretty sure that Realist is still asleep.
He always has a “slumber party” with his sheep buddies on Monday nights and I here things can get a little…….

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You,the collective you, understand this is the same BS we hear from players about every new HC or position coach….it is all so predictable…same as the BS rookie say about “everyone is good here, everyone is fast…….then 2nd year players…”the game has slowed down for me this year”….

  14. Bird Says:

    Robert krafts old soggy balls

Thank goodness we don’t have to see that.
Money bought the best lawyers possible.

  15. Stonedbuc Says:

If what is being said is true, then we haven’t had a 5-11 team the past couple years based on talent. The coaches just Squandered it. So we might have 6-12 talent 😂 I have hopes for the new coaching staff but they gotta stop canceling practices do to good practices. This new CBA better bring along more physical practices and time with coaches.

  16. louden Says:

    @Todd

your comment is so wonderfull laughable!

Suckaneers suck for a reason since over a decade
and i have been always criticall and guess what
    i was always right
    just as now

    @Dusthsty Rhothdes

    your exactly rightwith the conclussion:

Koetter could get the 5-11 talent-level-team only so far..

it’s the incompetent Front Office unable to evaluate talent and bilding an good Roster..

Whoever follows the Suckaneers and wants them to become the Buccaneers again should start to boycott this clown show of an “professional” team

until the Glazers decide to hire intelligent football minds into the Front Office, that is good @evaluating talent and@Roster Building..

    Fire Licht Tonight!

  17. louden Says:

    hope hope hope
    season after season

bad drafting, re-signing bad players, cutting good players, trading good players for BS compensation, having no run game because of waeak O-Line, having trouble to score on Offense because of it, having a bad defense with no depth…

and they still continued to do so this offseason

and some guys here talking about hope?

that’s why this clown-show is at the bottom since a decade or more…

    i am talking football
most guys here talking about hope..

how about belief? go to the church or sth.

i will post Suckaneersrelated football stuff – u know

so Fans who want an real professional football team in Tampa, Florida:

  18. Bucnjim Says:

Words I love to hear Accountability and Culture Change! If they can achieve these this team will win.

  19. isrBuc Says:

Smile on my face? for what? “accountability”? is that a joke? we have been hearing this every summer for years. Why anybody needs to keep anybody accountable i dont get it even. culture is so rotten if you even speak about these things. I’m sure Jensen doesn’t feel he needs it, its the ‘other’ players who should be held accountable. BA cannot sit them all. they will play and will get payed. I want to see BA hold 14 mil donovan smith accountable and paying instead. I want to see that.
It is a joke, sure, but not one that puts a smile on my face.

  21. D-Rome Says:

You know, for all the offseason quotes and mumbo-jumbo, this is by far one of the better quotes. It goes to show you how inept Irk Koetter was and how stupid it was for any Bucs Fan to be totally confident in him.

  22. Anonymous Says:

    Todd,

    A dose of reality for you;
Licht has SUCKED as a GM…if you need proof, just look at his history of BLOWN 2nd & 3rd round draft choices that have robbed this team of talent and depth as well as his poor ability to sign quality FA’s
    ASJ….on 4th or 5th team in 4 years
    Alberto…not in the league
    Simms ( 3rd Round ) …not in the league
    Rojo..??????
MJ Stewart..if he is so good, then why did we spend most of this years draft re-drafting the same positions we drafted last year?

This team can not even compete in it’s own division..so another last place title in Buccaneer Cove is almost certain.

If you see 10-6 this year…good for you….but this is a 4-12 to 6-10 team all day long.

The worst thing is, the GLAZER clowns will have really tough decisions to make next year and nothing in their history suggests that they will make good decisions to fix this team.

    Licht has got to GO..

  23. louden Says:

    @Joe

    why weren’t my comments posted?

    too much truth to handle?

Now this is a real fan right guys? He is literally rooting for us to lose. Not that you had any before but now all credibility is lost.

  25. Buc4evr Says:

Accountability is all well and good but you have to have talent also. There isn’t enough talent on the O-line, so I expect all this talk about accountability is just that, nothing more. Different season, same lack of talent and just more B.S. – they all need to just shut up and play.

    I’ve been hammering this
Talent > Coaching 90% of the time

  27. Defense Rules Says:

@louden … “why weren’t my comments posted? too much truth to handle?”

LMAO. Like Jack Nicholson said as Colonel Jessup in ‘A Few Good Men’ to LTJG Kaffee when he demanded ‘I want the truth’ … “You can’t handle the truth!”

  28. donuts Says:

Jensen used the word accountability during last off season. Broken record just saying things…..lets see what happens on Sundays.

  29. Defense Rules Says:

Ndog … Realist fell down the rabbit hole (chasing either rabbits or sheep, I’m not sure). Personally don’t even read comments like that any more they’re so devoid of useful information or opinion. And that’s a shame IMO because Realist used to have some great comments, but obviously ‘the Dark Side’ gobbled him up. Stay strong.

  30. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Louden right on the fact that this jason licht is still allowed to have a key card to get in the parking lot is an embarrassment. Jason Licht doesnt have the credentials to recruit for a middle school team in Texas. This year will be a disaster. So koetter has 2 QBs and a RB off the street, a TE off the street, a WR off the street, a LT off the street. a RG that shouldnt have been drafted, a D3 LG…and builds the top 5 offense and it is his fault the bucs are garbage….hoe about its the crappy GM getting crappy players that after tampa do not stick in the NFL

  31. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Sick of all the offseason talk every year with the same losing results

Talk to me in September if they aren’t embarrassing themselves weekly

  32. Chris Simms 2020 GM Says:

At least the Bucs had a bowl game.

All hail the world’s most generous holder of manbreasts! He ponied up his own $85 for charity and has to crow to the world about it!
good lord. Why the hate? And where exactly is Joe crowing about anything. Simply stated, Joe didn’t want fans thinking Joe crashed a benefit with an intern for the sake of getting quotes. Sheesh. –Joe

  34. 813bucboi Says:

    LOL….

    realist never had great insight….lol….

he still thinks its winstons & lovies fault we started the season 2-1….lol….

realist thinks winston is trash and wanted dirk to stick with the hot hand….and dirk did….and look where that has gotten him…lol…dirk went from being the HC on a staff that entered the season on the hot seat to joining another staff that is entering the season on the hot seat…..

smitty had the worst defense in NFL history 2 years in a row but somehow, according to realist, its still lovies fault…..lol….

accountability is something ive been saying since dirk took over….same with the whole talent vs coaching argument…..

this team has lacked coaching and development since dirk took over…..and under smitty, every young player(and some vets) REGRESSED after showing promise as a rookie……

realist wont post once the “W’s” start rolling in under BA, just like when he went missing when smitty got fired and dirk started collecting “L’s” week after week…..

BA will expose dirk, smitty and realist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  35. D1 Says:

    Whatever,

Charity? I thought it said they were bowling for autism. Weird prize imo but it’s the bucs and stranger things have happened..

  36. 813bucboi Says:

    the talent excuse dont fly….lol….

we had less talent in 2016 and won 9games…..

2 ways you go from 9wins to back to back 5win seasons and thats poor coaching and lack of development…..

    GO BUCS!!!!

  38. #1bucsfan Says:

@alterego I agree with you that every year we do hear kinda the same thing leadership an accountability are usually the 1st to things we hear that is changing. I hope this year is diff but either way go bucs #endthedrought

  39. D1 Says:

    Bucboi,

Serious question. What’s wrong with you? Maybe something in your past, or something you’ve been dealing with for years. Like growing up with parents who are deaf…maybe they ignored you, just trying to understand what the problem is…

  40. Jmarkbuc Says:

    D1

    Wow.

  41. mark2001 Says:

Said it many times…Koetter would be a great next door neighbor, or coach down the line, but he was out of his depth as a HC. And he just didn’t have the “take no prisoners” attitude that Arians has…no excuses…find a way to win. He was bad at making in game adjustments, didn’t have the back of his guys in game situations, and didn’t hold guys accountable. And you wonder why we kept treading water, and when things went south, had no real fighting spirit?

  42. Tvan101 Says:

realist and ludens keep stealing the entire comment section with whining and negativity. Calling fellow bucs fans sheep because we hope they will be succesful is a sad state of affairs. Why dont you both go find a different team to root against. Your incessant whining is becoming a drag on this website. Why dont you guys go have a dinner date and cry in each others arms.
