“He Ain’t Underrated Anymore”

May 21st, 2019

Big believer in Bucs WR.

Joe understands if Bucs fans are down in the dumps this morning.

Let’s just take a quick look at the hits that keep on coming of late.

* Gerald McCoy was cut.

* Jason Pierre-Paul may be lost for good.

* The Bucs don’t have a run game.

* The Bucs may not be able to rush the passer.

* The Bucs are banking on a bunch of rookies to shut down the likes of Drew Brees, Matty Ice and pouty Cam Newton.

Other than that, how did you enjoy the parade, Mrs. Sadat?

Well, Joe is here to offer a pick-me-up. And it comes from midtown Manhattan by way of Kyle Brandt.

Brandt, the co-host of “Good Morning Football,” seen weekday mornings on NFL Network, was in a discussion of the top receivers in the game and he chose Mike Evans. The Texas A&M product, Brandt barked, is no longer underrated.

And since Evans is only the third receiver in NFL history to have 1,000 yards receiving in each of his first five seasons (not Jerry Rice, not John Stallworth, not Don Hutson), Joe has to wonder if perhaps we are witnessing the very first Bucs offensive player that will make the Pro Football Hall of Fame?

You can watch Brandt’s take below.

  1. Tom S. Says:

Mike Evans is one of the best receivers in the game, no doubt. But he can’t play RG, rush the passer or defend the other team’s best receivers.

Gerald McCoy was always maligned because the team sucked with him on it. As Licht’s first draft pick Mike Evans shares the same record in Tampa Licht does but there seem to be no fans blaming him for the dumpster fire around him. It’s good for Mike because he doesn’t build the roster but sort of sad for Gerald as his two GM’s were Dominik and Licht.

If you want to know one reason why the Bucs are in cap hell you can look at the decision to keep Vincent Jackson on a 12.2 million dollar largely unguaranteed final year of his contract or Doug Martin’s 6 million unguaranteed to play 12 games after a drug suspension. Both players were injured/ineffective, with bloated final years that Licht made no effort to restructure or release. That was almost 20 million not well spent that could’ve been forwarded to the next year’s cap room which could’ve been forwarded to this year’s cap room. All hail the emporer with no clothes, Jason Licht!

  2. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

Big M1k3 love him not a Whiny bi$&h like OBJ or AB he gonna Be full Godzilla mode this season with BA I can’t wait …

  3. Bucsfanman Says:

Pryda- Agreed. I’d still take Mike ALL day over those prima-donnas!

  4. Jimmy Davis Says:

Culmination of years of “poor management” and internal failure!

  5. El_Buc941 Says:

@Pryda I recall he use to cry all the time to the refs about not getting PIs and crying. What do you he aint like OBJ and AB?lol. Yea hes grown up quite a bit and left all that but dont forget. Also completely off topic. Can we use the money we are aaving of GMC to go get Jay Ajayi joe? Pair him up with Peyton Barber and that should fix our run game and please please please if you do go after SUH Mr Licht DONT over pay him. I can guarantee he will sign for 7-8mil. To behonest i wouldnt put all mu chips in on Mo Wilkerson either.

  6. Old School Nole Says:

    Mrs. Sadat?
    Showing your age, Joe.

  7. Race to 10 Says:

It’s hard to read bucs news….all these bullet points based on last year’s coaching staff and the media basically over reacting the entire off season knowing full well they have no clue how the team will play.

We’ve seen the bucs be unable to rush the passer that was prior to jpp and guess what Geraldine was on the roster so why does it matter that he was cut. They have a completely different roster based on a 3-4 defense give it a rest already, they will rush the passer just fine unless your saying other teams will force them to play 4 down lineman 100% of the time

  8. #1bucsfan Says:

@tom well said brother. Uneducated fans will put the blame on one or two players wen this is a team sport. TEAM. I raced bikes most of my life if I didn’t get 1st which that happened several times the blame was only on me. TEAM sports takes everybody right down to the water boy

  9. isrBuc Says:

Sometimes people just want to be cool and unique with their picks. ME wont be faster, drop less, yac etc. because someone said he’s one of the best. I’ll be trading him for picks like i would do with any payed player who can get us something in return. we need to rebuild. you just said it yourself.

  10. Todd Says:

    You all are UNBELIEVABLE!

    Down in the dumps?!

    He’ll no!

If we had kept McCoy, Joe, you’d write a negative article about how we’re idiots for not having enough cap to sign our rookie class. Not having any money to make a play for any other available talent.

Heck, I hope they cut JPP next and free up another $15 million. NEXT! Good Lord, give BA and TB credit for not being idiots. THEY WILL FIELD A WINNING TEAM, Go 10-6 and make the playoffs!

So don’t view TODAY’S circumstances with your PITIFUL negative lense.

Celebrate McCoy’s departure. It was sh!t or get off the pot time and TB took a nice $13,000,000 DUMP!

  11. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

“Other than that, how did you enjoy the parade, Mrs. Sadat?”…..LOL..good one !

  12. Bird Says:

    Isrbuc

Yah. Let’s get rid of our proven players for who?
Draft picks ? We don’t seem to hit on those.

Another player ? Evans and moss only players with 5 straight 1,000 seasons.
Yah let’s trade our best offensive player

Do you actually understand what you post.
His salary will be peanuts to what our nemesis for the falcons is about make at 20 mil per year.

  13. Bird Says:

    Mike Evans is 25
    Not even. In prime.

He will break every buc record in the books this year.
He is a big /quick dude. He’s got at least 5 years. Maybe 7

Yah let’s get rid of our best offensive player.

  14. Jfat Says:

I remember pining for Sammy Watkins the year ME was drafted. So glad things worked out the way they did. Especially since he seems to be the only person alive Jameis can hit with a deep ball consistently.

  15. Anonymous Says:

I’m not down in the dumps yet. We haven’t even played a game. I don’t get down in the dumps until we have 4 losses in the first 5 games. Then the season is over and it’s only early October.

  16. Bird Says:

Glad to see Kyle brandt give mike Evans some love

Cause our own stupid fan base won’t.
We are lucky to have ME13 on this team

And he does get Shaq treatment cause he is so much bigger then guys he goes up against. Shaq complained about it. Mike has a right too . Probably gets held 5-10 times a game that they don’t call

  17. THETRUTH Says:

    Todd: your on the money!

Everyday asking to get rid cut McCoy and saying how terrible he is and now that he is gone we complain we don’t have DL. You ask for it lay in it people now you have your wish

  18. Snook Says:

    No running game?

That may be true if we still had Koetter calling plays from his predictable playbook.

Settle down, Joe. There’s a new offense in town. The running game will be just fine.

Oh…. And head of the losing culture was cut off yesterday afternoon.

  19. DB55 Says:

Man it’s like the birds are chirping louder, the sun is shining brighter and the day is just magnificent. Oooooohhh happy days! Ohhhh happy days!

  20. Todd Says:

    @THETRUTH

That’s the psychosis of this site. So predictable. 90% negative takes on…just about everything Bucs related. If something is positive, Joe and 80% of the contributors will find the negative. If something is negative, they’ll pile on and dwell on it forever.

At NO point has Joe and Team Negative ever stopped dwelling in the past and actually credit the Bucs organization for hiring a true pro and all who come with. If we HAD NOT hired BA, the narrative (in here) would surely be how inept we were for not making a huge play for him to get him. I mean imagine, if we hired BA he likely would have brought fired Jets defensive wizard TB with him.

    Can you IMAGINE?!

  21. #1bucsfan Says:

Haha love it BIRD get em

  22. JA Says:

    Todd—

You write like a true fan. Good job!
Too bad you can’t change the mind of a hater or two, but that’s how they “get off.”
History tells us that rapprochement between the sane and the hate-filled insane is a truly impossible task.
    Could you imagine …

    “Herr Hitler, stop murdering Jews.”
Hitler: “Ok, that makes sense. Thanks for the tip.”

“Hey Jeffrey Dahmer, stop killing people and chopping them up.”
Dahmer—“Ok, makes sense to me. Thanks for the tip.”

“Hey Haters, seek psychological help and look at the bright side of things. Find a girl or something akin to a friendship.”
Haters (in unison)—“Ok, I’ll give it a try. I realize that McCoy did the best with what he had. Thanks for the tip.”

In truth, it ain’t gonna happen. Short of a lobotomy, the mentally ill of hate and blame cannot be rehabilitated!
Their brains were not constructed to discern the folly of their comments. In their mind they think they’re entertaining when the sane take them for what they are—morons!

  23. miken Says:

Put #!3 in the ROH next year!

  24. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Underrated? ME13 has been one of the best WRs in the league since he came into the NFL. So this is going to get panned but if this thing goes very bad very fast this year…it will be time to unload some people but also you need a new director of football operations in the building before you make drastic moves for the future. The bucs only have 2 guys under big deals next year in D Smith and Evans, so it will be a total rebuild. Evans is by far best player on team and one of top 50 in league BUT…if yoou have a guy in the GM before end of year and trade deadline you need to unload LVD for picks and think hard about getting rid of ME13 for hopefully 2 #1s…

  25. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Joe

Since the sheep and fans are “down in the dumps” and there is no hope for the season!!!!!!! Maybe all in Tampa bay need to embrace the “Den Of Depression”!!!!!!!!!! The Fortress of Futility should be a heaven for this level incompetence!!!!!!!!! NO bobblehead type promotions!!!! Let stadium employees hand out the paper bags with pre-cut holes!!!!!!!!!! Take down the stupid ring of honor, and erect THE Wall of Shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that way we can induct gm’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let the fans open champagne, and spray beer for every loss!!!!!!! 1st overall pick in the draft is now the goal!!!!!!!!! Let us celebrate being the best at that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Down in the dumps?????? Not even close!!!!!!!!!!!! Because this was no surprise for those paying attention!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. down in the dirt doug Says:

Tom–went over your remarks twice. You speak the truth brother and you our spot on with your remarks.Licht wants to be loved by all so he has overpaid for many players to have a second contract and has keep many players that should have been released. He IS NOW OUR NEW MR SOFTY!!!!!!Remember the old saying ,”nice guys finish last”!!!!

  27. LakeLand Says:

You don’t build a NFL franchise around a top WR. You build around a top QB, RB, etc. How often does a WR touches the ball???

  28. tmaxcon Says:

    DB55

Just read your tweet… i think you are right lol

What a glorious day first time in a decade this team has hope and no longer will be held hostage by cancer93 a complete selfish fraud on and off the field…. garbage player and man… so much to be hapy about today …

  29. 813bucboi Says:

    im loving this offseason!!!!!!!!

    -dirk got canned
-smitty still cant find a gig
    -hired a great coaching staff
-released the captain of losing GMC

for the past few years we’ve won the offseason only to see us fall on our face…..

this year will be different…..the culture is changing….losing wont be accepted anymore…..

the only folks that are “down in the dumps” are GMC fans, @realist and smitty!!!!!!!!!

    the “real fans” are rejoicing!!!!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  30. Stu Says:

ME in the Hall? Long way to go…

  31. 813bucboi Says:

    realist

    your running out of excuses!!!!!!!!!!!!

when we make the playoffs, what will be your excuse then?….BA won with dirks team?….lol…..

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  32. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Only playoffs bucs will be in 2019 will be that for the #1 pick in the NFL draft come 2020…hope bucs draft OL or defense and tank one more year for trevor lawrence….bucs are in tank mode this year

  33. LakeLand Says:

The Bucs and playoffs in the same sentence? ( unrealistic)

The Bucs and Catfish (bottom feeders) in the same sentence (realistic)

  34. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist - City of St Pete (formerly known as 'The Kwon Alexander of Bucs Fans') *Realist, louden, & tmax are the worst posters ever!!! Says:

‘He ain’t underrated anymore’ was referring to DeAndre Hopkins in that video.

Mike Evans is still the most underrated WR in the NFL and Yes, he will be a HOF’er.

  35. Go Bucs 72 Says:

13 is a stud period, saying anything to the contrary makes you an idiot or a troll or more than likely both.

  36. SenileSenior Says:

    Right on Todd!

    ____________
    Go Bucs!!!

  37. LakeLand Says:

Brandon Marshall was a stud WR
And have never played in a playoff game
A WR need to be on complete team

  38. chopshopp Says:

    @El_Buc941,

Debating the ref for a PI is nothing compared to the drama AB brought to his team and the distraction that OBJ was to his. How do you even compare that? They both thought they were bigger than the team. Mike has never complained about not getting enough balls thrown his way.

  39. The Buc Realist Says:

ME13 is even better than the sheep think!!!!!! Could only imagine his play if he had a “real” QB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just look back at last year, and his best 3 game stretch for consistency was with the backup fitz during the first 3 games of the season!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  40. passthebuc Says:

Great, trade him for 3 first round draft picks and start the rebuild. Maybe you could do the same with JW and get 3 2nd round picks. then hire someone that knows how to draft.

  41. Chiefbucsfan Says:

Other than that, how did you enjoy the parade, Mrs. Sadat? That’s a good one Joe!

  42. TpaBayFlyFisher Says:

Joe, if the Bucs keep on this course, your website may need to shift to another team……………..BTW how is that #1 overall draft pick doing?

  43. Buc1987 Says:

“the only folks that are “down in the dumps” are GMC fans, @realist and smitty!!!!!!!!!”

    Too funny 813.

  44. Cobraboy Says:

I am NOT depressed McCoy is gone.

  45. Buccfan37 Says:

ME is steady and Mr Reliable. On the other note lessons to heads of state, the global cabal powers that be will kill you and get away with it as all bases are covered.

  46. Brandon Says:

Brandt never said Evans was no longer underrated, he said Hopkins was no longer underrated. I always see the Joes busting chops about people’s reading comprehension skills but clearly somebody misheard this quote… he said Hopkins had his coming out party last year and it no longer the most underrated player.

  47. unbelievable Says:

Love me some ME13, though he definitely doesn’t block that hard anymore…

    🤭

And like someone else said, that does nothing for our non-existent pass rush, non-existent run game, and non-existent right side of our offensive line…

    Woah is us

  48. Jameis Almighty! Says:

Mike Evans and Jameis are perfect for each other. Gotta give Jameis a lot of credit for all of Mike Evans meaningful yards.

  49. Jameis Almighty! Says:

Adam Fumble the season away in Buffalo Bumphries and Chris Conte are to blame for the Bucs failures player wise. Looks like their may be a light at the end of the tunnel aside from the draft picks Licht can’t sign.
