LOL, Derrick Brooks said he might “Get on the Gay Bandwagon” .
I am not as mad with this pick, as I was with Aguayo.
This was only a 5th rounder, and this kicker is deadly accurate on plus 50 yard kicks.

  2. TOM Says:

C’mon…It was a stupid pick. Quit trying to sugar coat it. Licht doing enough of that already, along with several other picks.

  3. Jeff Says:

Is there any possibility of an audio/podcast version? It is so much more convenient.

Bucs were prepared to take Cody Ford. Got jumped. Took next BPA.
Stuck to their guns all the way through.
    It will shake out.

Gump got jumped and simply moved their 5th round pick up to the 2nd round and then selected Happy Gilmour in the 5th.

The draft is a zero sum game, you don’t draft depth. For every player you draft there is an equal amount of players cut. Draft 3 DB’s, cut 3 DB’s.

Draft a kicker, cut a kicker. Simple math, you’re not drafting depth at the kicking position.

Jason Licht has drafted more kickers than edge rushes during his tenure.

That is fkn unacceptable! He should be fired for that alone.

  7. unbelievable Says:

My bad- it’s same amount of picks spent on kickers and edge rushers, over 6 years!

    WTF!

“I can jump on the gay bandwagon.”

    @Chris

You are correct sir! The Gay pick is nothing like the Aguayo pick.

Despite me posting over and over the odds of a draft picks success over the years…too many folks here still view draft picks as relatively equal. Yeah they get a first rounder is better than a second rounder etc but most clearly do not get the major difference.

I was shocked this year to learn what a giant break in the odds takes place after the first FIVE picks…the second FIVE not nearly as successful and of course it goes down by the rounds after that with 5th and beyond successful less than 10% of the time.

And so when people talk about Gay being a wasted pick I laugh.
There is a 10% chance of ANY player selected in that position actually succeeding. TECHNICALLY almost all 5th round and later picks are wasted which is why folks are now noticing how frequently UDFA’s outperform them.

IF Gay is a success he will be just or more valuable than any OT or RB or edge rusher. He will have the ability to SINGLE HANDEDLY change the outcome of a contest. If he can perform in the NFL like he did in college he could be like Zuerlein for the Rams.

Remember the playoff game last year when Zuerlein literally changed the strategy at the end of that contest? Missed extra points and FG’s in the first half seem to always come back and bite us in the 2nd half strategically. And of course missing an FG when the game is on the line is a LOSS.
