Bill Parcells Influence

May 1st, 2019

His words spoken to Bucs.

The Bucs have coaches on the staff that have been influenced by some of the giants of the coaching profession.

Of course, we know Bucco Bruce Arians once worked for Bear Bryant and Arians often quotes the legendary Alabama coach.

An offensive assistant Joe will get to tomorrow may surprise people because who he once was affiliated with.

And then there is Kacy Rodgers, the defensive line coach. His first job in the NFL came in 2003 as a defensive tackles coach hired by Bill Parcells when “Tuna” took over the Cowboys.

Of course, Rodgers admitted Parcells’ influence hovers over him to this day. In fact, Rodgers reached back to Parcells’ first team meeting with the Cowboys when Rodgers met with the Bucs’ defensive linemen last month.

“Raise your expectations,” Rodgers said today of how he still is guided by Parcells’ words.

Joe has confidence in Rodgers. Everywhere he has been he has gotten good play out of his line.

Joe expects nothing less with the Bucs.

Wow finally a different perspective other than the negativity that’s come from this website. I bet you guys have been holding on to this story since you heard they were hired considering how much of a history buff you seem to be. Yes 100% confident you’ve been holding this story

Complete nonsense. Rodgers was made available for local media for the first time this morning. In fact, it was Joe who asked Rodgers about Parcells.

Well, Arians and Bowles are picking the groceries…
Let’s see how good the dinner turns out.

Bruce is by far the most accomplished head coach since Jon. He’s got a heck of a staff.

That’s got to be worth something.

The man likes the roster and thinks he can win with it. Good enough for me at this stage. Its May for crying out loud.

I look forward to seeing how the 2-track practices work out. I am excited (and hopeful) to see how the newbies are brought along. I hope to see many of our veterans elevate their play. I wonder who might be demoted or weeded out along the way.

All of this comes under the idea of better coaching, much better coaching I hope.

Finally, I can’t wait to see how all this plays out in relation to overall game preparation and game adjustment. Both of which come under what I mean by game management.

    Go Bucs!!!!!!

Man, I remember at one time the “Big Tuna” was asked to manage the Bucs. He seen it for what it was, and walked away ..but, I will always wonder if he could’ve built a dynasty. I’m positive that coach Rogers is an asset and will get his guys ready ..but, we all saw it last year, they’re run blocking was atrocious. If our running game improves, it will be because of Mr. Rodgers.

It’s time to start Liedke at RG and Thor (Cappa) at RT let Dotson backup.

    correction*

I screwed that up, I meant coach Kugler. I had Rodgers on my brain

When will any of this stuff make a difference and actually transfer into a winning team?

  14. Rod Munch Says:

Bruce Arians also worked for Ray Perkins.

For all the grief we Bucs fans give Ray Perkins, he hired Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick as coaches when he was the Giants coach. That’s pretty remarkable.

    AlteredEgo. Now that was funny.
