Bad Business Decision

May 7th, 2019

Risking a fortune.

No one really knows what motivated Gerald McCoy to post an Instagram video claiming people doubt him or suggest he would normally be swilling margaritas at a Lido Key beach bar this time of year.

That is, no one outside of GMC’s world.

Whatever the reason, a lawyer making good coin talking football for the National Broadcasting Company suggests GMC is foolish for not working out with the Bucs.

The creator, curator and overall guru of Pro Football Talk, the great Mike Florio, believes it is a dumb business decision for GMC to be home instead of working out at One Buc Palace. And Florio offers 13 million reasons why GMC should be pumping weights at One Buc Palace, whether it be on a boozy made-up holiday to sell liquor and tortilla chips, or any day in the offseason.

“If he wants to be with the Buccaneers he should be at offseason workouts,” Florio began in a video exclusive to Pro Football Talk along with co-host, former Bucs quarterback Chris Simms. “Because if you are going to work out, you may as well take the insurance policy that goes along with it. He’s got $13 million riding on the possibility that in that ramshackle gym he is working out in, if he injures himself and he can’t play this year, [Team Glazer] doesn’t have to pay him.

“If you are going to suffer a fluke injury, suffer it at the team facility. This isn’t about voluntary or involuntary, this is about free insurance that goes along with being at the team facility if you are going to be out there busting your butt.

“I am glad he is working out hard. I am just worried about blowing an Achilles or popping an ACL, whatever the case may be, bye-bye $13 million.”

One would think GMC’s agent would be smart enough to tell him this.

Of course, indirectly, Florio’s comments indicate there is something to the rumor floated recently that Bucco Bruce Arians told GMC to stay home. A notion Arians angrily shot down just before the draft.

The real bad decsion fslls on Dominick and glazers for drafting the soft crying clown in the first damn place not to mention flushing 100 million plus down the toilet on her great first step to nowhere

There is an old saying you cant turn a w***e into a housewife the same is true for players you cant turn a soft, content player into a driven winner….

  6. The Buc Realist Says:

A bad business decision????? A worst business decision would be to renegotiate she-mc to have her in a defense that clearly she will not want to be in, rolling eyes and say backhanded insults to all the players with her passive-aggressive attitude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

she-mc has complained in every defense that was not some form of the obsolete tampa2 that featured her as the under tackle!!!!!!!!!!! WHY would any DC want that??????????

Time to let Her go so she-mc can b!tch some place else!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    one word answer – guilt

  8. tmaxcon Says:

I’d like to ask the apologists if they are McCoy fans or Buc fans????

The results with your failed hero leading the way have produced a streak of blowouts and unmatched basement titles yet you defend this fool like he is a real life super hero regardless of actions or results…. again are you bucfans or mccoy fans…. just because he uses god card like a shield does not change the on field results

  9. Bruce Blahak Says:

guess the old “break a leg” saying applies here 🙂

  10. Lamarcus Says:

Mike Evans is right. GMC can’t even act tough

  11. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Bad business moves by Gump and then by Arians when he said GMC was not the same as he was. Great move there Barry Arians, when you want to try and get value for the guy. People want Arians to be the next GM? No flippin way. Gump should have traded GMC years ago and at the least last October

  12. SCBucsFan Says:

Jesus Joe every day multiple articles on this? What do you have against the guy? We all get it, he’s overpaid. But three articles a day?

  13. m0j0 Says:

The simple fact is the Bucs need to work out the cap numbers to get their rookies signed, and whatever happens with GMC money wise, the Bucs could still use him on their D-Line. Ideally, he takes a pay cut to say 7-8 mil and everyone is happy. If not, the Bucs can either cut Gholston and keep GMC at his current salary or cut GMC outright, but I doubt they will do that.

    JOE LOVES GMC

These are the hottest articles so of course he will post on GMC because there are many post after each articles. Which means more visits to his WEBSITE. Actually, “hot topics” are rarely the most read for a multitude of reasons, including because fans have read/heard about it elsewhere. Common misconception among readers here who like to maliciously ascribe motives to Joe’s activities. Joe writes about what interests Joe and promotes no story more than another. –Joe BUT don’t get it messed up. JOE IS A GMC SUPERFAN

  16. BucAllNight Says:

Go figure another GMC article for us to comment on and tell Joe how much we are tired of seeing GMC articles

    Go Bucs!!

  17. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Good lord…can any of you tell us what time of year McCoy has shown up for practices over the years????

It has always been the minicamp following the rookie camp!

    He isn’t even late yet!

  18. Jackwagon Says:

    PEOPLE…wake up!!

After 4 pm TODAY, the Comp Pick formula calculation GOES AWAY for this year! Duh. Thus, the slick GM’s will go to town from 4:01 on. Roseman in Philly, Snead in LA, Belichick in NE, Dorsey in CLE, and maybe Telesco with Chargers, etc. Soooo….perhaps Dorsey has ALREADY been in touch with GMC’s agent on a NEW contract (making current one completely obsolete), then maybe sending a 2020 6th round pick to Licht.

Wake up people! Stop talking about GMC’s current contract. No GM had an intention of paying that. And GMC will need guarantees!! Hell, maybe Ballard in INDY will want GMC also!

    4:01 pm today and beyond….duh!!

Well no s(p)it! Should Joe write stories about that garbage quarterback from Mississippi State the Bucs signed? Or how about the anchor of FSU’s offensive line the Bucs signed — people don’t know what bad offensive line play is until they’ve watched FSU’s line get quarterbacks mangled.

Yeah, just what Bucs fans want to read — not one of their best players in franchise history who may be launched — a couple of stiffs who likely will be cut in six days. smh

Only newspapers run stories people don’t want to read. How are they doing these days?

Joe’s in business to attract customers (readers) not run them off.

  20. Dewey Selmon Says:

Will never understand people complaining about the amount of articles. It is the off season, we are lucky to get anything now that the draft is over. Joe does his best to keep the board interesting. He could be at the beach with Rachel Watson drinking beer.

  22. JimmyJack Says:

I don’t think it was a decision at all. I don’t think Bruce wants McCoy in his team. I bet Licht has already informed Gerald that the team is moving on from him.

Bruce wants nasty physical players. That’s why he likes P. Barber.

McCoy is a finesse player. He never fit what Bruce and Todd want. And that is the least damming thing about McCoy. The biggest reason he aren’t with the team is because they are going to change the attitude and culture of that defense and the old era needs to be flushed away, which means the face of the franchise needs to git so it can be properly rebuilt……………..Bruce said he looked at all the film on his players which means he had to watch a McCoy Captained defennse outright give up and pack it in on the field. I’m sure he wants nothing to do with McCoy and his particular brand of so-called leadership.

    @ Jean – Yep

No one likes a fake script being read out loud

  25. Isaac haggins Says:

Hell , GMC go beck to working out three days a week 2.5 hrs a day and play your ass off on Sun !!!

I know you think you have but you clearly have not quit the internal lies it’s eating you alive !!! 3 days a week , shut the hell up , avoid the camera, quit chasing reporters and just play your ass off !!! Poof !!! It’s Magic , They are all chasing you , HIDE and play your ass off next Sun !!!

Follow script make 12 extra million , next three years !!!

  26. Barack's Crack Pipe Says:

    JimmyJack Says:
“Bruce said he looked at all the film on his players…”
    .
    .
Then that means he has seen the film of him dancing on the sidelines with that big stupid grin on his face while the team was losing. He’s probably also seen the film of him declaring how much fun he has playing with Kwon on his team [disregarding the fact that they consistently lose].

No coach I ever had would have put up with either one of those scenes.
