Another Dumb Choice By Jameis Winston

May 7th, 2019

Foolish decision

Joe is speechless after seeing the video shot this week of America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, on a golf course.

It’s no joke.

Longtime local radio and ESPN Radio voice Todd Wright explained it in great detail in today’s TODDcast with Todd Wright podcast, which is exclusive to JoeBucsFan.com.

The video below is of Jameis at Derrick Brooks’ charity golf tournament, Todd explains.

A local guy who works charity golf events was there entertaining guests with trick shots and more. Trevor Consavage of MachoMan Trick Shots was doing his thing and found a guy from the crowd to participate in a dangerous stunt. It was Jameis.

Jameis sits on the grass with a flimsy helmet that has an extended golf tee on top. The trick shot artist then swings a driver baseball style and drills the golf ball of Jameis’ head.

A bad swing and, well, even a 7 year old knows what could happen. No thinking person, let alone the face of the Bucs franchise, would consider being the clown from the crowd who volunteers.

Joe is blown away that Jameis would make such a foolish decision — again. Thankfully, nobody got hurt.

  3. Lol Says:

Good thing he wasn’t in a dunk tank he might have drown… JBF logic

  4. Lunchbox Says:

Blown away? Really? Honestly I hope he plays well this season, but when was his judgement ever a selling point? Sure seems like it isn’t going to change, at least while he’s a member of the Bucs.

  5. RCS Says:

Yeahhhhh Joe…. Being just a tad bit dramatic on this one. That guy swinging the Club has about just as much muscle memory of doing that “trick” as any other athlete that uses their body for their craft…. Did Joe do any research to see if it was cleared first? or if JW has any heat with the team? Joe doesn’t clear Joe’s opinion with the Bucs. LOL. Heck, if the Bucs approved it, Joe would call that decision dumb. You have a different opinion. That’s great. –Joe

I don’t have a problem with it… it’s not like Charles Barkley was swinging the club

  8. El Buco Realisto Says:

The coaches saying that jw3 went rogue with his weight and now just another example of poor decision making!!!!!!!!! The better be glad that it is not another year of NFL’s biggest distracton hard knocks is not coming back, other wise jw3 might be trying on an episode to jump cars in the bucs parking lot on a motorcycle!!!!!!!!!!! Since the season is lost anyways, and a total rebuild is most likely with roster and front office and coaches!!!!! We might as well have an exciting training camp with Super Jameis Osborne with his trusty manager Mr Fuji!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. tmaxcon Says:

this dude doing the trick shots is far more professional than those running the bucs organization. I trust him with Americas Quarterback far more than I do those incompetent fools at 1 buc circus tent calling the shots.

  10. Jeagan1999 Says:

Come on! I’m sure Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Aaron Rogers let folks hit golf balls off their heads all the time! What’s the worst that could happen?

  11. Doctor_berto Says:

Thought it was going to be something serious. Yawn

  12. Magadude Says:

This is just Jameis using his Uber sense again. He’s a liability to his team. He’s a disagrace to this community, and am embarassment to all. Why oh why can’t we have a leader and mature guy to QB this team? I’d said he would find something else to make him and all look bad. He is just warming up. Wish they’d have left this punk a year ago. This is even dumber than Freeman going shooting and messing up his finger forcing him to miss a game.

    Jameis: “Sure, why not?”

Just when you think he might finally get it….

  25. BucIt Says:

I bet Tom Brady has the kind of sex with his wife that would put this “Stunt” to shame, Can you guys even make it a day without being negative? Is this the “Evil Bucs Media” your boy has been bashing the past few years? You guys have really been expiring me to find my Bucs news elsewhere. So saying Jameis made a dumb move having a guy swing a deadly weapon at his head. That’s real “evil.” What next, should Devin White go to a circus and have a knife thrower throw at him? –Joe

  26. RCS Says:

Helmet had more padding and a Football helmet…. also the way the driver is, even if he it JW it would not have been a flush shot…. but i digress

  30. Sport Says:

This is the least dumb decision on his list he had a better chance of getting hurt on the car ride to the golf course. It looks dangerous to a non-golfer, it wasn’t.

  31. tmaxcon Says:

you guys act like he was skydiving without a chute…. i never realized how many pansy arses out there in bucland. scared of a little fun are you. sad very sad… this is a non issue. the generation of hand sanitizer wimps and gender neutral freaks could sure use an old fashion school yard beating… the wussification of America never ceases to amaze me. bullies build character this world needs a lot more character and a lot less political correct wimps scared to leave their homes without sanitizer and bubble-wrap

  32. Steven007 Says:

Joe, using his own name in a self-referential way as always, actually used his name four times in his response to a poster above. That must be a record.

  33. JimmyJack Says:

    Is Jamie’s allowed to skydive?

  34. Defense Rules Says:

This is awesome Joe. Best story this spring. Let me see if I’ve got this right.

Jameis has most likely never met this wahoo before. For all Jameis knows, he could be a Uber driver out for revenge. So he dons an orange helmet, lets this stranger take a wack at his head with a Big Bertha, and then … the coup d’etat … the guy thanks Jameis for ‘having the confidence in me to pull it off’.

What’s not to like here? Now if the guy had said, ‘Wow, first time I’ve ever pulled that off’, THAT could’ve been interesting. Doesn’t our $21 million man get any points for wearing a helmet?

  35. LJS4th Says:

Shameis is and will always be a dumbass!!!

  36. Caleb Lee Says:

^Agree with Sport. Not the best decision but I can live with it compared to his other shenanigans..

  37. Steven007 Says:

Deadly weapon?! Hahaha. Literally ANYthing can be a deadly weapon if you want it to.

  38. Bucs Guy Says:

Just another case of less than stellar judgement.

I hope JW knocks it out of the park this season and earns a new contract because that means the Bucs do well. It also means we can use our 1st rd pick on OL/DL instead of QB. However another mediocre performance coupled with continued poor judgement off the field means the Bucs should be looking at QBs this fall just in case.

  39. BucsScout Says:

Omg. Pitiful take. Its a professional golf trick shooter. Shut up Joe. If it was Ronald Darby taking the golf shot and Winston and him were wasted on a golf course with Brandon Banks filming then I get it. But this is such a non story. I feel bad you have this reaction

  64. ModHairKen Says:

Well, there’s some other news about Jameis taking risks, but it has not yet become public. some of it is worse than Trump’s 10 Obstructions of Justice.
There may be an investigation by the Commissioner. I have a well placed source who requested anonymity, who reports the following:

    1. Today, Jameis ate 4 strips of bacon at breakfast, and sausage. He may have to take a statin.

    2. Jameis left a sharp kitchen knife in the soapy dishwater.

    3. While lounging last week, Jameis fell asleep in the pool, on a raft, and apparently suffered a slight sunburn. He was uncomfortable for a period of three hours.

    4. Jameis made a left hand turn from westbound Kennedy onto Dale Mabry on a yellow light. Three people employed their horns, and, although this has not been confirmed, one of the drivers may have used a middle finger.

    5. Three weeks ago, on a Wednesday, Jameis left the toilet seat up, and his wife found out when she used the facilities at 4:10 a.m. and experienced — I’m going to use a medical term here — the “wet ass.” Jameis suffered a slight ringing in his ear (and his wife now has a hoarse voice). But, he should be okay by training camp.

Coach Arians is highly concerned, and is rumored to be planning to give Jameis a “what for.”

Tmax only an idiot like you would come up with a response like that. First off. Epilepsy strikes at any time in life. So no. But your 20 million dollar QB does not pull stupid stunts like that. All it could take is for this man to have a seizure like I did or any medical condition or just a slip and he could have missed the helmet totally. And wimp? I’ll take your ass on any time little girl.

  75. pfunk69 Says:

So, reading that headline stopped my heart. I was afraid to open the story because I am still trying to get over the JPP news. To see what the fuss is all about is frustrating. So, Jameis is the biggest clunk head for participating in a professional trick golf exhibition at a Derrick “the Don” Brooks charity golf event? It’s quite possible that Jameis was approached beforehand about participating, probably shown the trick and given a million reassurances that there was no way this guy would come close to his head. He is the face of the Bucs and that is probably why he was approached to do this. It’s not as good of a trick with Joe Shmo (pun intended) sitting there. had he been lying on his back with the tee in his mouth, now that’s a different story. I know we would like to wrap our players in bubble wrap whenever they leave One Buc until the next game, but these folks have lives as well. I distinctly remember Tom Brady and family on vacation a couple years ago jumping off a cliff into water below. This is an overreaction in my opinion, he’s participating in a charity event and this dude is a professional. Next, Jameis should turn down an invite by the USO to tour a combat zone and visit the troops (as many, many other current professionals have done) because there is a real possibility that his aircraft will get shot down or the FOB he is on will get hit by a mortar attack while he’s shaking hands and taking pics. Come on guys, you’re reaching with this one. Could he have gotten hurt, yes, but it’s not on the level that you have written in this article.

Both elbows were ripped out of their sockets. Those were professional trainers and highly trained porpoises. They did that trick a hundred times without incident. Never volunteer for anything.

There are at least 30 families of husbands, wives and children who sold their homes, uprooted their families, left jobs, schools, friends and made the big move to Tampa because they believed in Bruce Arians, Jameis Winston, Todd Bowles and even Jason Pierre-Paul.

There are always things happening and Joe would have written about this regardless of the month or day. If you prefer Joe ignore what the franchise QB is doing, well, then Joe can’t help you. –Joe

I appreciate multiple articles per day, even if they are borderline irrelevant.

I am also glad to see JBF questioning the decision making of “America’s QB” (you could also call him America’s dumb*ss) as they have seemed to defend him against all transgressions in the past.

    Here’s the thing…

I liked the calm and leashed Jameis over the last several games of 2018. That Jameis played damn good football and seemed to be understanding what it takes to be a real franchise QB.

I’d really like to see Jameis keep his head down with his nose to the grindstone until he starts winning games and truly leading a franchise.

This golf stunt is just stupid and really who gives a f**k about the “trick shots”?

I never hear you say another coaching or gm option for this team. Or you never mention a player we should sign or draft. Never any insight to the team. Except cancer93 and we are all sheep who believe in unicorns. So take 5 minutes away from your Mensa books and tell us your great plan for the bucs. All because cancer93 and the glazers planned for that to happen it is there fault. They should have hired a driver for jpp and jameis. And should have got cancer93 an anger mismanagement course. So please tell this dumb buc fan what would tmax the owner do.

  116. BringBucsBack Says:

That picture MUST adorn Ray Jay.

  117. Jameis Almighty! Says:

Jameis is a trusting man. He understands what it is to be in the hands of a professional. Too bad it’s a guy doing trick shots off of his head and not his GM. Fireeeee Licht!!!

  118. Steven007 Says:

Ndog, your comment was dead-on accurate. Well done sir.

  119. THETRUTH Says:

Either joe needs another Jamie’s article to show his love for him and keep Jamie’s happy or you really have nothing to write about and creating stupid news.

Rather have where are they now segment than Jamie’s flushes toilet once articles daily.

  120. tmaxcon Says:

    Jeffbuc

Pay attention little one, THE REASON THERE IS NO PLAN OR SUGGESTIONS IS GLAZERS HAVE ZERO INTENTIONS OF FIELDING A WINNER SO WHY WASTE TIME DISCUSSING…. and yes i firmly believe bucfan is the dumbest fan on earth no other franchise put a failed coach who choked in post season or couldn’t build an offense in the ring of underachievement no other franchise calls underachieving has beens with a pathetic 5 post season wins legends either…. there is no hope bucs will always be the league laughingstock and charity case…. glazers have trained low standard bucfan well to lower the bar and label crappy players great

  121. Tampabaybucfan Says:

OK…..so now let’s make it the “Golf Swing Tee on Head Challenge”

    Who’s next…..Brees, Cammy or Matty?

Rise up to the challenge guys!!!

Actually I am on the fence with this…..it’s sort of stupid…..but a very low risk under the circumstances…..

You would’t want to try that with Joe’s swing though…..

  122. tmaxcon Says:

    Stevek

Cancer93 and i only communicate via the bat phone he bought Chinese batteries online last time so communications have been extremely unreliable

  123. RTG Bucs Says:

Click bait headline and that cannot be denied! Then it is followed up by a bunch of dumba$$ posters that will complain about anything and everything Jameis does. Just another day at JBF.

  124. Billyjs3 Says:

    Non story

  125. Jeffbuc Says:

Tmax that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. So the owners of an nfl team who have the least cap space in the league. Meaning they are paying out more money to players than any other team in the league. Are doing this on purpose to be losers. Because they enjoy losing so much they are going to pay more than any other team for it. And because we induct players and coaches into are ring of honor. Us inducting a coach who has won a 1/3 of our teams total playoffs wins is stupid because we have so many more great options. So they shouldn’t honor a man who has one us 2 of our 6 total ever playoff wins. Why are you a a supposed fan if you hate everything about are team ownership and ring of honor. So answer me this why do you watch the games why do you post on this site? You really think an owner would purposely spend 130 million a year on players have the biggest coaching staff in the league all just to make us dumb bucs fans believe they are trying. Just take a step back and look how stupid you sound. They purposely sign free agents that are bust to big contracts knowing they will fail. Instead of signing the guys they know would do well with us for less money. All to create this we are trying to win tmax fantasy. You sir are the dumbest of the so called dumb bucs fans. For even considering that a possibility.

  126. Steven007 Says:

Jeffbuc, great reply. But do you think trollmax will actually answer your astute questions? He’s called trollmax for a reason. He simply trolling you. That you’re giving him the oxygen of respectability that he dearly desires is a charitable gesture for that social security check cashing troll.

  127. tmaxcon Says:

    Jeff and little stevie

Its been 16 years, 4 regimes, 10 basement titles since last meaningful win… not even a meaningful game played in 12 years that’s over a decade. are the glazers really trying…. you can’t ignore actually results in your search for optimistic view points…. glazers have rendered the most power franchise in pro sports a joke in man u and took the small market irrelevant bucs to a entire new level of pathetic… history is not on your side

  128. tmaxcon Says:

Low standard bucfan always lowering the bar to hang on to a failed past and a bunch of has beens that had 1 good year….

  129. GetOverIt Says:

Maybe a bad swing would’ve knocked some sense into him.

  130. Barack's Crack Pipe Says:

    Ndog Says
    “This website is like TMZ”
    .
    .
    LOL
I’m just wondering if Jameis called JPP for advice before he volunteered for this stunt.

  131. Mord Says:

Is this stage 1 of “tank for Tua”?

  132. Rod Munch Says:

Chill out cupcakes. Not everyone spends their life petrified by fear.

  133. Pittsshore Says:

Joe: it’s the same helmet he wore on the short yellow bus. It will be okay.

  134. AKickInTheBucNuts Says:

    It’s all good.

Besides pushing trucks, this will help JW get to the next level.

    Level of stupid, that is.

  135. Bucsfanman Says:

I logged on this morning to see if there was any more news on JPP and saw this.
I just have to wonder what people’s expectations are?! Are we to believe that our beloved Bucs should go into hibernation and be wrapped in bubble-wrap during the offseason?!
He’s a human being. He’s out enjoying his life. Maybe some of you should do the same.
Now, me personally, no way am I letting someone tee off of my skull. But that’s just me. I see nothing wrong with having fun. That golfer probably lives on the golf course doing tricks like that.

  136. Pittsshore Says:

Dumb is what dumb does. Correct me if I am wrong, but does he not come from a broken ghetto home in one of the poorest parts of America??? Did we think we were getting Andrew Luck???? To that end, Luck was the REAL Stanford Alum….not the delusional JW fan base that always come back with “JW was accepted to attend Stanford due to his academics”. These are the same ignorant people that attended FSU, a school that a drunk monkey can get into.

  137. J Says:

No matter what anyone thinks, this was simply a horrible decision. It’s an immature thing to do, plain and simple. You just can’t take these kinds of risks when you’re SUPPOSED to be in a leadership role. This was a “risk it, enjoy eating your food thru a tube for the rest of your life, biscuit” moment.

There is zero logic in defending his actions. I hope BA and the Glaziers have a come to Jesus moment with him.

  138. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

This is just another (although not god-awful) reflection of the Winston decision-making mind set. Please GOD, let this be the LAST season with this dumb ass.

  139. Pittsshore Says:

@J. Yet another come to Jesus moment. Cut him.

  140. gilhealy Says:

Proud of yourself, Joe? Clown show.

  141. Clean House Says:

    He borrowed Licht’s dunce cap

  142. donuts Says:

Winston is consistent in his decision making off the field. I will give him that positive on a bad decision. He is going to have to play Favre-like to get this city behind him again. It could happen but the signs are that it will not.

  143. Steven007 Says:

By the way I’m loving the rent space trollmax. Cheapest rent on Earth.

  144. Hodad Says:

Maybe a good knock in the back of the head would be a good thing.

  145. 813bucboi Says:

brady jumps off cliffs and hits the ski slopes…..

you act like he was letting some random guy take the shot…lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  146. JL Says:

Can we get a man for a Qb,not a 25 year old kid!!

  147. chargedcbh Says:

90% of people are STUPID! Forget football, your a Father. Not surprised, we have seen moments of his immaturity over the years. ONE DAY HE’LL GET IT! I HOPE…

  148. KK Says:

stupid people do stupid things… JW is a dumbass of epic grandeur

  149. Mike Durblitz Says:

Don’t take this the wrong way but, you sound like a real flipping moron when you post stories like this. You are an embarrassment to your parents, your spouse, your kids, your grandparents, and any of your friends. Go get therapy.

  150. Ben the GA Buc Says:

I’m not worried about this. My barometer for whether or not what JW does is declared dumb is if ESPN reporting on it. They are silent on this one, and they are usually not silent on Jameis being Jameis, so I’m not concerned.

  151. VeeJay24 Says:

Yeah, Todd Wright doesn’t have an agenda; give me a break!!!!

  152. wideleftandright Says:

    TMAXCON:
You are right on it today. The magadude was one of those kids who wore headgear ,elbow pads and knee pads to ride his bike.
Never rode in the back of a pickup truck. And if he ever played any type of ball, wanted to take the ball home if he didnt like the way the game was going.

  153. whatever... Says:

America’s Manbreast, clueless idiots apparently think this is even worse than the crotch-grabbing.

And the sheep line up behind her to deride “foolish” Jameis.

what a joke of “reporting.” this is what you get with unrestrained ego – America’s Manbreast and his “take.” tools the both of you.

  154. GhostofSchiano Says:

If he had gotten hit in the head it could have knocked some sense into him. Nothing wrong with that.

Not a sheep or a unicorn. Thanks Tmax and Realist.

  155. Buccfan37 Says:

The actual event was harmless as far as I’m concerned. The responses here mostly were comical which proves laughter is the best medicine.

  156. nick Says:

    MUCH ADO about NOTHING

My first reaction upon seeing the headline, Winston grabs his crotch or something ala M.Jackson. nope.
Then I read the golf stunt… hmm dangerous..oh wait, a helmet is on…

I mean comeon, is this guy supposed to walk on thin ice for the next ten years, walking on egg shells.

This is silliness. and honestly if the Bucs came off a 10-6 playoff season, would we still be talking about this?
    NO

    Therefore.. Much ADO about nothing

  157. Ozzie the Sports Junkie Says:

Im through arguing over the ineptness of #3….Not believing one second that he’s Bucco Bruces “GUY”…because he had him in a youth clinic??? Arians is saying all the right things but the first Learning Curve 3 pick Sunday and he cuts ties with this guy and the search will be on for future Bucs qb…done arguing with fellow “fans” done being called an idiot who dosent know what hes watching..ive never been an I told ya so guy but wow its gonna be hard to resist unloading when the eventual other shoe drops..Shame new staff has basically a Throw away season to find out what is already known round here…Maybe #3 can cheer up fellow Mensa member JPP with a trip to Sky King fireworks! those can be alot of fun!!

  158. libucfan Says:

Nothing to see here…please move on.

  159. Buchead407 Says:

What a joke of an article and headline

  160. Al Romas Says:

Jameis makes poor decisions. Color me stunned!

  161. Bucsace Says:

Is it just me…..or is this activity beneath the level of what most people expect of a starting NFL QB ?

  162. Buc96NYC Says:

Jameis always moves the needle I swear. I can’t tell you how overblown this is. In the world we live in today everything is so sensitive & a problem.

Nothing to talk about here, moving on to figure out our d-line problems lol
