Notes From Wednesday OTA

April 24th, 2019

Practice today at One Buc Palace

Joe decided to jot down a few sights and observations from the sunny if not warm Bucs voluntary OTA practice Wednesday at One Buc Palace.

Among the no-shows at the voluntary workouts thus far are Gerald McCoy, Jason Pierre-Paul, Chris Godwin and Donovan Smith.

With no malcontent DeSean Jackson and Godwin unavailable (Bucco Bruce Arians said a “couple” of players had problems with pregnancies but he didn’t specify the players), second-year receiver Justin Watson got his fair share of targets today. He was up to the task.

* Offensive linemen Alex Cappa and Caleb Benenoch got a lot of hands-on work in the underwear football practice with an assistant coach. Just the two of them and a coach. After a while, Cole Boozer joined in to work with the duo.

* America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, faked a handoff up the middle and quickly whipped a pass to the right side.

* Newly ordained safety M.J. Stewart celebrates a breakup.

* Arians cruises onto the field in his Bobby Bowden golf cart to talk to the quarterbacks. A bit later, he rolls up to the receivers group. It’s good to be a sixty-something football coach who has seen it all.

* Watson catches a fade pass along the left sideline from Jameis.

* O.J. Howard catches a seam pass up the middle from Jameis. Makes it look too easy.

* Can’t Throw Deep I: Jameis launches a pass down the left sideline that Mike Evans hauls in.

* When the offense begins 7-on-7 drills, Arians gets too anxious to sit in his Bobby Bowden golf cart. He gets out and stands with his players behind him and a little to the left of the quarterback.

* Watson gets behind a pair of defensive backs on a seam pass about 20 yards downfield and Jameis throws a pretty pass just inches over the outstretched arms of the defenders. Watson grabs it with ease for a big gain.

* Somehow, receiver K.J. Brent fights off being surrounded in triple coverage to pull in a pass.

* Can’t Throw Deep II: Jameis launches a pass from midfield that Evans pulls in on the run and gets his feet inbounds in the far right corner of the end zone.

* You are better than that: tight end Antony Auclair drops a short gimmie pass over the middle from Jameis that hits him right in the numbers.

I haven’t seen anything from Auclair that makes me think he’s better than that. It’s why Brate was kept around and not traded away.

    football!

    Joe

What’s your opinion of Donavan being a no show?

Just got paid, average player, top of the league money, new coaching staff, leader on ol, after 3 months of vacation, and is currently blowing up Twitter cuz he’s doing nothing.

  4. Buccernutter Says:

Let me guess, because it’s voluntarily?! 😂

  5. Buccernutter Says:

    Voluntary***

  6. Joe Says:

What’s your opinion of Donavan being a no show?

Not smart if he gives a damn about public perception, which he seems to care about.

  7. NOSBOS Says:

You’ll soon see what I was trying to tell you weeks ago about Justin Watson.

  8. Buccernutter Says:

Ya it’s becoming quite evident he’s not the sharpest tool in the shed just by his responses and desperate attempt to ridicule those who think he should be working instead of using “Twitter fingers”.

  9. SB Says:

I used to know a NOSBOS that posted here regularly. I even had a few beers with him when I was down in Orlando a few years back. I thought he was a pretty cool dude.

  10. gilhealy Says:

word is D Smith is fighting an illness.

  11. ATLBucs Says:

Last year in training camp Watson tore it up! I was actually surprised that he did not get more playing time

  12. gilhealy Says:

    B. A. is gonna love him some Watson.

  13. Kobe Faker Says:

    “Nos

I think Watson will be more productive than our waste of 4mill hands of stone 16 catch Perriman

watson is going to do great things this year”

    Kobe Faker

  14. NOSBOS Says:

😊I still got love for you SB. New #(407) 692-5077. Hit me up man.

  15. 813bucboi Says:

nothing on the CB’s?…..VHG, CD, RS….how’d they look?….

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  16. bryan kohn Says:

We so need a better blocking tight end then Auclair. Maybe pick up an undrafted FA?

  17. Kobe Faker Says:

“Hearing alot of news with Washington Daniel Synder wants to move up top 5 for QB

We need to get their #15th, 2nd round,3rd round and next years 1st round pick to trade for our 5th….

still might not be worth it

    #15 isn so hot”

    Kobe Faker

  18. NOSBOS Says:

Jameis said a week or so ago when Justin and ME are on the field together it’s like having two Mike Evans out there. I’m happy for Justin because I know he won’t simply get pushed to the side by this staff.

  19. Buccernutter Says:

    Gilhealy

    Yep it’s called indolence.

  20. D-Rome Says:

America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, faked a handoff up the middle and quickly whipped a pass to the right side.

Let me guess, one of the fans 40 feet away from the sideline ended up catching that ball.

  21. Dewey Selmon Says:

Thanks for the tidbits Joe, you are the best! D Rome, no fans allowed. fail on the troll attempt.

  22. Buccernutter Says:

Just found out smith isn’t there cuz he’s sick whew

Must be a sunny beach day in Tampa 😂

  23. Doctor_berto Says:

Heard D Smith tripped over his own feet and hit his head on his dresser

  24. Tampabaybucfan Says:

With no malcontent DeSean Jackson and Godwin unavailable ……how long are we going to be subjected to “malcontent”…….he’s gone…..we got rid of him….he is totally irrelevant…..as irrelevant as Myron Lewis or Daquan Bowers…..

And, what’s with the Auclair negatives all of the sudden……..he missed one pass in underwear football…..give it a rest….he is a 3rd or 4th string TE…..

  25. #1bucsfan Says:

Drome just butt hurt cause he’s wrong

  26. Maze Says:

    Donovan Smith is lazy

  27. Maze Says:

Yep the Auclair hate is ridiculous. He’s a player on the rise actually

  28. Lord Corn Says:

Watson looked pretty legit even last year. I believe

Perriman / Punter signings = likely wastes of future 3rd-4th round comp picks

  29. TOM Says:

    Smith sick = lazy

  30. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

The guy is present everygame even while ill and hurt. So now he is lazy because he is ill during
    VOLUNTARY mini camp. SMH…
