Cameron Jordan Calls Out Donovan Smith

March 5th, 2019

Saints Pro Bowl DE Cameron Jordan seems to have little respect for Donovan Smith

Nothing like a little Twitter smack from a likely Hall of Famer getting fired in the direction of the Buccaneers’ newest mega millionaire.

Saints stud edge rusher Cameron Jordan, drafted just a few spots after Adrian Clayborn back in 2011, seems to approve wholeheartedly of the new fat contract bestowed upon Smith today. In fact, he Tweeted to almost-free-agent Alex Okafor the good news.

Okafor started every game at defensive end for the Saints last season opposite Jordan, who has never missed a game and has averaged more than 10 sacks a season over the past six years.

Ouch!

So that’s the sales pitch to Okafor? Come back so you can feast on Smith and keep collecting a paycheck. Damn.

Actually, Okafor could very well be on the Bucs’ radar. Bruce Arians and Todd Bowles coached him in Arizona and lauded him as a future double-digit sack guy. That didn’t pan out, but he’s still a solid and versatile piece to any defensive line.

Smith is very active on Twitter and surely will see this. It should be a fun one when the Bucs face the Saints next season.

Perhaps Jordan was remembering this play.

Likely hall of famer joe really? What have you been drinking today. Guess Geraldine will get the call too — Jordan is a tremendous player at a position the Hall voters love and respect. Good chance he’s named an all-decade player, which is almost a golden ticket to the Hall. But regardless, two more elite years and hitting the 100-sack total for his career probably puts him in. –Joe

So fans hate on d Smith now what do you call this when heā€™s disrespected by a guy in his division? I love it because either he will wilt or heā€™ll beast dude for the rest of his career for disrespect. Canā€™t wait to see what kinda stones these players have next year, tired of being a laughing stock.

  2. StoutGospel Says:

I LOVE IT!! That’s something I would do! And Cam Jordan can talk smack, cuz he can back it up!

  3. Loyaltotheend Says:

When the division winner is celebrating the signing itā€™s probably not a good sign for the Bucs

We are seen as a joke to everyone outside of Tampa

  4. tbbucs3 Says:

Cam Jordan. Really good player. Not a hall of famer.

  5. Jean Lafitte Says:

That’s testimony of how much these DE’s think of Smith. They should be thanking Smith for inflating their own stats.

  6. Bradentonbuc Says:

Disrespected for sure. Would be nice to see Smith respond on the field

  7. BucsFIRE Says:

Yes, almost certain Hall of Famer and current career trajectory.

Bold and disrespectful move, though, to post that crap on Twitter.
Hope it bites them in the ass.

  8. BucsFIRE Says:

(with that) career trajectory for Jordan.

  9. StoutGospel Says:

But then again….no matter what happens after the 2020 season, that $27 million FULLY guaranteed sitting in D Smith’s account (invested more diligently than that of course) NO MATTER WHAT certainly makes any noise, just that.

    Man got paid.

    Go Bucs! Land Quinnen please!

  10. GreG Says:

Good to see the rest of the nfl recognizes how much of a joke this franchise is

  11. Mic Says:

If donovovan smith is any much of a competitor I would make sure every run is my way and maul whoever lines up across from me when we play the saints

  12. Bucsfanman Says:

Hey, if you can’t rise up when a little smack-talk gets laid down, you don’t belong in this league.
He’s “food” until he ain’t! Do something about it Donovan.

  13. Justafan Says:

Loyalty..we have beat the Saints every year that Donavon has been here, it’s not like the Saints are going 2-0 against us. When we were at full strength we scored the most points of any of team that played the Saints.

  14. Kyle Says:

im happy about the signing. Smith has had his troubles, but cmon he has been reliable as hell. He was a 2nd round pick for a reason.

  15. Andrew Says:

What is wrong with tagging him? I see him coming in overweight

  16. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Damn he straight called Donovan a b!tch. Letā€™s soo what means more to Donovan, the money or his manhood. I could see this as the year Smith ā€œcoincidentallyā€ misses a game.
This is what happens when talent wonā€™t work hard. The dude has all the god given ability but he even said on GMFB that when he isnā€™t practicing he preserves himself but not doing anything strenuous and just sits around. How long will he get by on his athleticism alone before it begins to deteriorate.

  17. BucsFIRE Says:

    Bucsfanman Says:
    “Do something about it Donovan.”

    ——–

    Well said.

  18. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Love it from Cam Jordan and right at jason licht, the good nfl teams & players know what a joke of a team jason licht has built. WOW, a fellow nfl player laughing at the bucs OL, thats tremendous

Ahhh, I can remember banging these boards begging for your boy DOM to Draft Jordan. Oh well.

  20. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Devante Bond re-signed.

  21. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

At least D Smith can block cam jordan on twitter

  22. destinjohnny Says:

I wasn’t on JBF back then but I just remember all the scouts/mocks projecting Jordan to be the better player and I was confused when we didn’t take him.

We really would have been better off just letting JBF internet posters vote on draft picks vs Mark Domink / Jason Licht.

    That’s f*cking insane.

  24. Loyaltotheend Says:

    @luvmybucs

Joes post just makes his boy Dom look worse and worse

  25. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    LC & LoyalToTheEnd

    Sad but true.

  26. rrsrq Says:

Karma (not Kamara) got a way of dealing with folks, stay healthy Cam (oh wait thatā€™s not Cam Newton)

  27. Boogie Nightz Says:

I agree with Cam Jordan. Totally not deserving of this contract. NFC South basement here we come again. SMH #Shame 41 million invested in a garbage offensive line. UNREAL!

  28. NPRSageBoy Says:

Great! $41M to the whipping boy of the NFC South.

  29. BucsFIRE Says:

I think we hung 48 on that sorry D, Cam.

  30. Boogie Nightz Says:

    @Loyaltotheend

    We are a joke

  31. Boogie Nightz Says:

    @GreG

    Agree with you times 1000

  32. Boogie Nightz Says:

    @Kyle

    yeah reliably inconsistent

  33. Bucnjim Says:

Well you have the Joeā€™s cheering for Smith and then you have a proven DE that is laughing in our face. Iā€™ve always appreciated how other NFL players feel especially ones who face us twice a year. Also the players who vote for the top 100 of their peers. Says a lot about the direction of this team. Itā€™s only a popularity contest when outsiders are involved. The players list the guys the DONā€™T want to face!

  34. Jeff Says:

Time to coach em up. Canā€™t be a joke any longer.

  35. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Lol, can someone tell me how the phuck is it…. that we can see this sh!t, and current players know this sh!t. Yet management doesn’t?

  36. BucsFIRE Says:

    Bucnjim,

Your sentiments are understandable, but for the record, Cam is known for sending those kind of blasts to EACH of the other division opponents. His last blasts before Donovan were leveled at Matt Kalil & Cam Newton of the Panthers.

  37. BringBucsBack Says:

Everyone in The OrganIzation thinks weā€™re good. Everyone outside of it thinks otherwise.

What was Smith doing on that play?

As another poster here stated, ā€œmoney rarely makes a lazy player betterā€.

I sure am tired of being laughed at.

  38. rrsrq Says:

    D. Smith took a team friendly deal. He couldā€™ve taken the tag and made more $$$ in a single year. I get how everyone wants a Joe Thomas or a Walter Jones, but who out there you gonna go and get. Donā€™t say Trent Brown, one year wonder with a QB in Tom Brady who gets the ball out of his hands. The one thing that irks me is Bucs fans who think you can have all pros at every position. I wonder do Bucs fans watch other games, because there are a lot worse LT on some other teams. Give BA a chance to do his work on this team. You donā€™t throw for 4000+ yards as an offense while on your back. D. Smith has to play better if he wants another contract, itā€™s simple as that.

  39. Not there yet Says:

I have a feeling this will be a different year, we finally have a competent coach and thatā€™s the one thing we have not had for the last decade, this is going to be an exciting year and I think we Will weed out weak ones

  40. Lord Cornelius Says:

Luke Easterling with another great homer mock for Bucs lol. Trades back twice:

    R1-15-Jonah Williams RT
R2- Jachai Polite OLB/DE (would be huge steal IMO)
    R2- Chris Lindstrom RG
    R2- Amani Oruwaryi CB
    R3 -Pariss Campbell WR
    R3 -Renel Wren DL
    R3- Benny Snell RB
    R4 -Vosean Joseph LB

I mean my god that’d be great lol.

    LT-Smith
    LG-Marpet
    C-Jensen
    RG-Lindstrom
    RT-Williams

    RBs-Snell/Barber/Rojo

    WRs-Evans/Godwin/Campbell/Watson/Bobo
    TEs: Howard/Brate/Auclair

    front 7 with
    VEa/GMC/Wren/Gholston DL
    JPP/Nassib/Polite/Spence DE/OLB
    Lavonte/Joseph/cheap FA ILB

Outside CBs – Davis / Amani / Ryan Smith / vet FA
    Inside CBs – Hargreaves / ? / Elliot

Safeties – Honey Badger / Justin Evans / Jordan Whitehead / MJ Stewart

That’d be a lot to work with.

  41. stpetebucsfan Says:

What am I getting wrong here? Cam Jordan is an LDE meaning he goes against Dot and the weakest tackle on all the other NFL teams. Not disparaging his talent but running his mouth about Okafor is truly stupid.

Who did Okafor feast against? This dude has averaged LESS than four sacks a year over his entire career. He had 8 his second year with the Cardinals after that…2…3.5…4.5 and a whopping 4 last year. How many did he get against D Smith?
    All 4?

Cam Jordan is just being a loudmouth calling out a player he doesn’t even face in support of a teammate who is mediocre at best.

The Smith haters here may take joy but this is a truly meaningless insult. If they faced each other game after game perhaps. If Okafor could ever rise above mediocrity maybe.

Okafor got 8 sacks ONE year…his other five years his average was a whopping 2.8 sacks. He had 2.5 less sacks than the mighty Nassib last year playing in one more game than Nassib.

  42. BringBucsBack Says:

…and NO we didnā€™t hang 48 points on N.O. in this game. We hung 48 on them with our 36 year-old, career backup QB…ā€™member Fitzmajik?…the #3 psyche-killer that so many want gone!?

    LuvMyBucs- Thank you!

  43. John Says:

Terrible signing. Thereā€™s a reason we couldnā€™t pick up a yard when needed last year. This line is soft and ok with losing and getting punched in the mouth. But that Instagram poppin though

  44. BucsFIRE Says:

    ^^ Definitely don’t want #3 gone.
He is quite capable of kicking that Saints ass twice.

  45. Bucnjim Says:

Bucsfire, this video wasnā€™t just a single block he happened to miss. It was fairly common for Smith to miss on outside speed rushes and double moves back to to the inside.

  46. Joseph Mamma Says:

Perhaps the Saints can use this as motivation to get Okafor to resign with them.

    D. Smith ain’t that good and he never misses a game. That’s like a double incentive for the opponents in NFC South.

  47. BucsFIRE Says:

    Thanks Bucnjim
I am at work, I can’t watch the video. I was just commenting in general.

I am definitely in agreement with you guys that Donovan badly missed some blocks last year. Very very frustrating, at times.

  48. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Jordan did get to Winston & Smith looked bad on that play but notice the 9 yard completion…..

  49. Bucnjim Says:

Notice the injury from the hit

  50. Bucnjim Says:

McCoy is more concerned about the opposing QB than our Offensive lineman are of our own QB.

  51. 813bucboi Says:

    LC

    that draft would be great…lol…

regarding the trash talk from cam, i hope d.smith takes note and doesnt respond on twitter…..i hope he trains hard and plays like he’s been disrespected every since he came to the nfl…..i know that is what fueled trenton brown and he’s become a beast….whoever gets him will be lucky….

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  52. Stanglassman Says:

No-Class Saints. They say players are a reflection of their coach. This figures.

  53. Adrnagy Says:

Calm down … no hall of famer. The saints have had a great offense acouple years and that contributed to his success. Donovan will slam him this year. Like Ariana said put a defense and a run game and letā€™s see. The bucs under dirk where more of a passing game.

  54. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

I love the Joesā€™ and their site…but Jordan as a likely Hall of Famer is a bit premature a la when Joe S. mentioned the same potential fate for Donald Penn. LOL. Joe simply posed the question of whether Penn would get consideration if he ended up with the ironman record at left tackle and managed a Super Bowl or couple more Pro Bowls. Penn’s streak was busted at 170 consecutive starts.–Joe

  55. Ryan Baker Says:

Can Jordan doesnā€™t know spit . He rushes from the other side of the line anyways .

  56. Brett Buell Says:

The Bucs passed on drafting Cameron Jordon for Adrian Clayborn.

  57. Loyaltotheend Says:

    @stanglassman

Iā€™d rather have no class and win than be a joke and win 5 games a year

  58. __TGH__ Says:

I hope he does see it and I hope he gets good and pissed. Nothing like extra motivation now that he has his money.

  59. miken Says:

Needing a DE we take AC over Cam Jordan…. damn

  60. Rod Munch Says:

I fully support trash talking – it’s just a shame the Bucs are a bunch of PC sissies anymore and won’t respond. It’s like when Payton totally humiliated Dirk at the end of the 2017 season and all Dirk would say is good luck in the playoffs. He didn’t say a great line like, Hey Sean, good luck in the playoffs, break a leg – a call back to the Bucs breaking Payton’s leg on the sideline. Now that’s a great line, but stupid boring Dirk just says good game like a coward. Ugh, disgusting.

Anywho I hope this loser mentality of not talking trash wears off and the players start to run their mouths, that’s when we’ll know they’ve finally had enough and want to win. Meanwhile boring dullards in the media and on message boards will say how great it is that these players don’t say anything and keep their mouths shut as there’s 20k fans in the stands.

  61. DooshLaRue Says:

That was a good one Duthsty!

Also, 27 million and ainā€™t 27 million in the bank. After taxes and agent fees itā€™s more like 13 million….. not bad but just saying.

  62. SOEbuc Says:

When Smith isn’t jumping, this sh!t happens all the time with him. And the DE are getting stronger and faster year by year.

  63. Chris K Says:

Absolutely NOT a Hall of famer!! Simoene Rice isnā€™t in, how will a player with half his pedigree ever get in? Not gonna happen!

  64. BuccaneEric75 Says:

So…our ā€œbigā€ offseason signing gets our opponents excited? Iā€™ve been watching this $hit show since the mid-80ā€™s, so I guess I shouldnā€™t be surprised.šŸ¤¢

  65. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Munch, Smith would respond if he could back it up. The video in the article says it all. Hopefully DSmith has a loud voice so after he gets beat, he can yell to Winston that he needs to cover the ball.

  66. BuccaneEric75 Says:

TGH, thereā€™s nothing that kills motivation in a guy that seemingly has none like a big payday will. DSmith will probably have his worst season. I hope Iā€™m wrong, cause Winstonā€™s career depends on him.

  67. tmaxcon Says:

the day sapp walked out the door respect went with it. bucs are a DESERVING laughing stock their on field play has been embarrassing on good days. everyone punks a defense led by a doll playing clown.

when you put a one dimensional ignorant bum with a 2-6 record in the playoffs in your ring of honor of course no team nor any person with standards would respect you. bucs will always be a laughingstock and have lower standards than a crack-whore.

  68. Jamaal Stanley Says:

In other news JPP gave his sales pitch to coaches today about how they should do everything they can to sign Landin Collins. Said Collins was the best defensive player on that team when he was there.

  69. StoutGospel Says:

Huh…good info @Jamaal!! Like people adding, and contributing.

    Hey JBF faithful….

Is THIS where we insert the word LULL??

Like a LULL in new articles….

    Like a LULL in…new stuff to con-ver-sate about…

Like a LULL in additional employees who might be able to (wait for it) post their own articles….yikes.

    A ….LULL.

    šŸ™‚

    Go Bucs! Get Quinnen!

  70. BucEmUp Says:

Love this!!! This will only help with Arians. Damn near every average player on this team is about to prove what good coaching and motivation can do. This should help “LICHT” a fire under his arse!!!!!

  71. Mike Evans Goat Says:

LOL @ the thought of Jordan being a HOFer. Since we are being all looosy Gooosy with the HOF title now, I would like to proclaim Mike Evans to be a HOFer. He has better numbers thru the start of his career than 90% of WR EVER.
    MIKE EVANS IS A HOFER

  72. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

^^^^ dude, i definitely agree with you that Mike’s career has a chance to keep arching that way. He still has aLOT of years to go, though. Stay healthy, #13, and the sky is the limit.

  73. Tbbucs3 Says:

Remember when being a hall of famer was for elite superstar players. The whole point of it is to separate the really good from the really great. There are many many really good players in the NFL like Cam Jordon and Donald Penn, but there are few greats.

  74. Tbbucs3 Says:

And thatā€™s also why arguments for Eli and Tony Romo for HOF are ridiculous. ELI had great moments but not a great career.

  75. Max Says:

let’s release bryan anger and pay his money to stephen gostkowski, finally have a decent kicker.

  76. DB55 Says:

Just a quick ghetto translation for you guys. When he says food solidified he not referring to actual food he means they gonna eat as in get paid and/or be super productive against Smith.

In other words Smith is weak and they’re going to have their way with him.

    Eat = getting paid
Grabbing the bag = getting paid

My good deed for the day, yw. Lol

  77. cmurda Says:

If Simeon Rice is not in the Hall of Fame, then Cam Jordan shouldn’t even be in the running. I’m still pissed about the Simeon snub. No excuse for that dude not to be in the Hall.

  78. joestang Says:

if you think their excited about the Smith signing whats going to happen when we trot RoJo on the field? Livht is a fool smith was not worth that type of money, he wouldn’t even get close to that in free agency. Now the excuse we have no cap money to sign any free agents. I GIVE UP.

  79. Bobby M Says:

The entire NFL voted Winston the most overrated and most preferred to play against…Smith seems to command the same respect.

    What a haul for Licht….

  80. JA Says:

    @stpetebucsfan—

A little advice: do not try to make sense on this website. It is a waste of time… Most won’t understand and those that do will not reply (except in this one instance -haha).
Just gab , talk crazy and balloon that into making no sense at all.
    Then they will listen …

  81. Howard Cosell Says:

Other teams know how deep the dysfunction runs
    Lol the Bucslife continues

Hey! You might be a lowly Bucs fan but at least you’re not Kellen Winslow right?

  82. Jay Says:

Cam Jordan very good football player pro bowl caliber …hall of fame not even close. Simeon Rice was a game changer and still canā€™t crack the top 15 in voting. Cam Jordan has never been the best end in a single season. I can go on and on.

  83. stpetebucsfan Says:

    @JA

I hear ya but it’s academic for me anyway. I think one of the Joe’s hates me. For whatever reason I’m in moderation and my posts do not show up until the threads are almost over so very little response possible.

I agree with your observation btw.

  84. firethecannons Says:

    Now it will be different.
After this contract BA owns Smith.
BA will not tolerate the lazy man attitude of Donovan Smith. Public perception matters to Smith and BA will use that tool to keep Smith riled up for the whole game. Believe in BA–he has all the power and he will not hold back.

  85. JimmyJack Says:

joestang you are clearly talking out of your ass. Sad to see somebody so blinded by hate that they will just make sh*t up.

  86. BigMacAttack Says:

Well it is Fat Tuesday, so he was probably drunk. Let your play do your talking.

  87. Rossta61 Says:

Screw the Saints! They are just sore losers because They got cheated From the Superbowl Couldnā€™t happen to a better team

  99. Rod Munch Says:

  101. BUC IT Says:

this just shows how big of a mistake we just made by this fat contract we gave Donovan. We paid him wayyyy too much. This is more of a reason why Jason Licht should be fired!
