Nears franchise marks.
Bucs fans who go to the Den of Depression today could see history made.
America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, is within reach of two Bucs franchise records. Currently, Jameis has 79 career touchdown passes. He is one touchdown pass shy of tying leaky, sleepy Josh Freeman for the most passing touchdowns in Bucs history. With two touchdown passes today, Jameis will be the franchise record-holder.
Additionally, Jameis has 13,328 career passing yards. He needs 207 more to pass Freeman (13,534).
Yet, there are still many Bucs fans who holler themselves hoarse on a daily basis to run Jameis out of town because… because… because… Tyrod Taylor.

Carson Wentz is 1-12 when the Eagles give up 26 or more points. He’d be run out of town to if he was the Bucs QB the last several years.

I’m not a winton fan because he is reckless with the football. TO are the number 1 detriment in winning and losing in the NFL which explains why he has greats stats but has a losing record. Guys wake up, its NOT the defense, plenty of QB’s have won with bad defenses. It’s also not coaching, does anyone really think Koetter coaches Winton to do the dumb things he does. He has a losing record because he turns the ball over.

Joe, you keep pushing this angle that fans are being unreasonable by being dissatisfied with Jameis. I’m sorry bro, but you’re just not going to make me (nor the other fans, I suspect) forget all the bone-headed, WTF-IS-HE-THINKING decision making that Jameis has spewed over our television sets going on four years now. He had a good game against the 49ers where he didn’t do anything idiotic – GREAT! But that doesn’t undo all the moronic passes, interceptions, fumbles, and other nonsense that we, as fans, have had to endure. To be clear, I’m NOT against Winston. I’m 100% FOR Winston! He’s our team’s best chance moving forward and if he fails, its back to “rebuilding”. But stop peddling your bubblegum, look-over-here-not-over-there support of Jameis and be real with your readers.

Could care less about Jameis’ stats right now! This is about whether or not we will be in the market for a new QB next year! If “Efficient Jameis” from last week reverts back to the “Bad Jameis” we have seen throw multiple picks in a game on many occasions, he will have sealed his fate.
BTW….if we are in the QB market in the next year or two, I’d look seriously at Ohio State signal caller Dwayne Haskins….that young man has been simply amazing this year! In just 13 games he is 4,580 yds, 70.2%, 47 TD,8 INT! And a very humble young man to boot!

Comparing him to Freeman doesn’t really impress me. Compare him to a quarterback with more wins than losses. His stats are as impressive as my neighbor who “always” misses the lottery by just one number. Ooo. So close. Win, then I’m impressed.

Joe makes post like this for you guys who think we have the worst qbs in the entire league. It’s as if the Winston haters don’t realize most nfl teams don’t have franchise QBs. You can still win with an average an if you build a complete team. Everybody brings up Winston’s win/ loss record as if we haven’t been one of worst teams record wise for over a decade. Y’all idiots are mad because you don’t have Aaron Rodgers and crown every hot streak rookie QB a future HOFer. Has anyone ever considered that the organization may have spoiled Winston’s development, it’s not like we have a bunch of other players excelling.

Our defense has been bad for a long time and people expect Winston to win 40 to 39 every game. I’m not saying Winston hasn’t had this far share of bad games but he is one of the few that wants to win badly. To the people that complain about Winston my question is if you were gm who would your qb be right now or who do you want next yet? Anyone but Winston isn’t an answer.

When the defense played good we went 9-7 now when other than that has our defense even been discussed in the top 15…. it’s not the web it’s our horrid defense. This is a shame Winston is puttin up this many number and yet the defense again and again let us down so again how is this a an issue? You guys must not watch the same game

Football is a team sport & u can’t win w a HORRIBLE D & no run game! U can win w an ok D but the D has to force turnovers so the O isn’t driving the length of the field all game! No qb coukd win w this team the way it’s made up! Drew Bree’s needs a D as well and he had a potent run game! U guys blaming Jameis for everything r a Joke and clueless as well.

Man it doesn’t matter to me no more . This fan base sucks. Jamies has played with piss poor defense since he came here. All the talk about the receiving core being so good is stupid. Cause if you don’t have a good running back and all your passes is 7 step drop backs then it doesn’t matter who playing quarterback or receiver you are going to lose. Every young quarterback that’s been playing good have better coaching and better defenses and running game.

Freeman was bigger, faster, stronger and had a great arm. Touch and velocity.
Sorry but if you can’t beat Freeman in any of those categories then saying Winston is the best is not nor can be true.

I suspect you realize this but the posts never seem to reflect the difference.
There are two primary reasons a group of posters here are JW haters…..off the field activity…and on the field. For a third group it’s both.
As for those who can’t get past the off field crap…I’m not in that group but I surely understand it. Surely JW is on his last chance!
He’s NEVER been accused of hitting a woman…that would have been the deal breaker for me. But he’s done so much other prima donna brain dead stuff that I’m no personal fan of JW. He’s an arrogant little jerk IMO…but that’s OFF the field.
On the field…all he has to do is play within himself and his team’s limits…see the Sunday Niners game and I think he’s our QB of the future.
I’m not ready to ship JW…but I absolutely understand those who are…like the Joes I think they’re a bit premature…but I understand their frustration.

Steve young wasn’t Steve young when he was here. Interesting how guys always improve when they leave Tampa. You guys are so ridiculous. One moron says it’s not coaching or the defense. Actually it is. Koetter is so bad it’s frustrating. 7 step drop backs to DeSean over and over again. Can’t run the football except two weeks in the last two years and worst defense in nfl history. What happened last week when the defense played well… and Winston led the offense to only 29 points. Fitz scores 48 week one and we still almost lost. Love seeing people say jameis is the reason we lose and it’s not the defense. Dumbest fans in football

Bottom line name me one year besides his 1st year that Winston has had a running game? Name me one year that Winston has ever had a passable defense? No turn overs, no short fields, no bailing out the QB after a turnover, how about a defense that protects a 4th quarter lead would be nice. Oh, how has the place kicker been working out these last 4 years? Not to mention a competent OL would have been nice. See a pattern here? No QB,rookie or 10 year pro could win consistently under these conditions. Lets see what Winston can do with a complete team around him before we just throw him away.

Freeman was not faster than Jameis and not sure he threw a ball harder than Jameis (when Jameis wants to). Remember, as a pitcher, Jameis had a 95 mph fastball. Saw some passes in practice that am still surprised receiver didn’t have a broken hand.

Freeman was a loser and Winston so far has been a loser. The best season of any Buccaneers quarterback was Brad Johnson’s 2002 season. Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion that year. Protected the ball, didn’t turn it over recklessly and was very accurate.

I’m not a Winston hater at all, but it’s comments like yours that are worthy of bashing. One because it’s so predictable . Two and this is my problem with the Winston before the team fan boys, you and a few others don’t have a clue about logic and while you berate fellow fans you have missed 100% that they’ve been proven correct today and it’s you who are the fool. I don’t believe that but it’s not my wording or accusations either.
Worse part, I have to smirk at the self proclaimed football know it alls who proclaim their own intellectual superiority above all others. If you can’t understand how to create a logical equation and can’t recognize the data that validates it from the ones that causes a fail then you’re not going anywhere with the I’m the smartest guy in the room claims. Clearly, that’s the problem now , trying to reconcile you’re statements with one another. And you don’t know what there is to reconcile. Absolutely hilarious and kinda cringe worthy embarrassing to.

I stand behind the faster comment. I will concede that if you are looking at combine 40x you may be right. I’m looking at faster on the field. Winston can’t match Freeman’ s stride length and he certainly isn’t able to make it up in frequency. The other side is Freeman got faster when he shed weigh.
Throwing velocity within the medium distances, Winston is clearly the better of the two. Yes the baseball experience is evident and he can flat out spin it.
Freeman is able to out throw Winston when measuring for distance. Which is how most people judge who has a stronger arm. I don’t believe that but it’s out there.
Freeman has more power downfield due to his mechanical efficiency and superior size.
Winston has more push which is why those medium distance throws sometimes look like rockets and the long balls don’t.
I’m not arguing Winston isn’t talented nor saying Freeman was a better QB. Tmax made a claim that Winston is the greatest athlete to play the position in the team’s history. The last comment he says talented . Close enough not to split hairs but those two words mean different things. Vinny Testaverde is the best athlete and I don’t think anyone would question it. Most talented, I don’t know.
Winston has more than enough talent to be the greatest QB in buc history. But talent isn’t just the sum total of individual skills tests, Times in the 40 or reps on the bench press. Which is why I disagreed with Tmax there’s more athletic guys than Winston. Doesn’t mean they’re more talented.
