Leave Jameis Alone!

December 21st, 2018

Fed up with the anti-Jameis sect.

It seems there is a Jameis Winston derangement syndrome that is sweeping the land. And innocent ex-Bucs players have been caught up in the storm.

To some Bucs fans, just the mention of America’s Quarterback, the Pro Bowl quarterback of the Bucs, sends folks into a drunken-like tizzy where they turn into spazzed out border collies.

And it seems when some folks are stricken with this malady, they go after ex-Bucs on social media.

Take former Chucky wide receiver Antonio Bryant. He is apparently a defender of Jameis and even has a pinned tweet in his profile of a video featuring Bucs Bit-O-Honey-snacking, Ozark-watching, yams-eating coach Dirk Koetter giving Jameis a game ball after a win. The tweet comes highlighted with one word.

“F-A-M-I-L-Y”

So Joe is just assuming Bryant is catching hell on social media from the anti-Jameis sect and got fed up with it with a pointed Twitter.

It’s cool to see that some ex-Bucs, even skill position players, have Jameis’ back.

Of course, not all do.

    Yes yes let the hate flow throw you Winston Haters. Hope he wins against Dallas so I can see u squirm

  2. Not there yet Says:

    Me st of the Jameis hate flows through this website

  3. Dooshlarue Says:

    I remember when those uniforms were our worse looking ones…… I miss those days.

  4. Joe Blahak Says:

    Baseball throwing, no touch, turnover machine….yeah, he’s wonderful….great off the field too…the Joes have an orgasm when someone backs the fraud. I’ve watched enough football in 40 years to know this buffoon doesn’t have it, no matter what anyone says. I was here to warn pre-draft about this giant mistake. Who was right? It’s mind boggling how this site has backed him. America’s QB? Such a joke. It makes you guys look bad, and I appreciate all you do with the info and Ira content very much. Don’t want to be anti-Joe but the Winston love gives me a headache. Get on a QB search campaign. Makes for more interesting content than WinSTUNNED crap…

  5. Tom Edrington Says:

    the pronoun that should proceed “Jameis Winston” :

    One-time, former backup, third-alternate Pro-Bowler because the good QBs didn’t want to go…..

  6. Buc4life Says:

    What’s the real motive behind all the Jameis hate??? I understand the off the field issues, but this hate from some of the fans is totally ridiculous. His stats measures with or higher than many HOF QBs. Jameis is one player on a field of 22. Are we blaming him for our poor offensive line and running game? Jameis has had the worst defense playing with him since he has been in the league. Are we blaming him for that too? Put a better team (defense) that dont allow 30 points a game and dont draft a RB, who is afraid to touch the ball and Jameis won’t have to press to score every time he get the ball.

  7. Joe Blahak Says:

    @buc4life….stats? Modern day stats are loaded for the offense in this flag football era…he sucks, everyone needs to wake up before this team digs a deeper hole..

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    I’m a supporter of Jameis as I am everyone who wears a Buc uniform…..but I have also called repeatedly for Joe to stop with the “America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler”…..

    Why…..because it puts Jameis on a pedestal where he doesn’t belong and it stokes the hate.

  9. Bucsfanman Says:

    These Jameis articles are starting to border on manic. I guess it drives the conversation, but geez!
    Antonio Bryant?! C’mon, really?! Lets interview the ushers at One Buc while we’re at it.

  10. Buc4life Says:

    Deeper hole? Wow! Do you know our history of QBs or winning statistics? I am a life long Buc fan and season ticket holder since 1999. I’ve seen Vinny, Trent, Rob Johnson, the Throwing Samoin, Chris Simms, Josh Freeman, and all the rest. Are we going to run Jameis out of town like Doug was run out? Or like Steve Young was let go. Jameis is 25 and has all the ability in the world, get a team around him and he will flourish. We have never had a QB reach a second contract and that is sad. There is no reason for Jameis not to be the first.

  11. Bucnjim Says:

    Don’t hate him but I’m blaming him for not handling his off the field problem last year when the season was in the toilet. I’m blaming him for fumbling more than any NFL QB. I’m blaming him for turnovers that basically insure we have little to no chance to win the game @ -2 or -3. I’m blaming him for accuracy issues that have followed him from college to the pro’s. I’d probably give him another year because he has shown signs of being great but so did Josh Freeman. Where is Freeman playing now?

  12. Dooshlarue Says:

    @Joe Blahak

    Be careful what you wish for man.
    Did you miss Manziel Madness on this here corner of the interweb?
    That was some irritating sh!t day in and day out.

    I’m not a JW fanboy but bringing him back for one more year and either signing or drafting another QB makes the most sense to me.
    We need a RB and OL and DL in the draft.

  13. Bobby M. Says:

    Broken record

  14. Jimbo Says:

    Many of the haters are Gators….one inane poster urged the Bucs to sign Jaoby Brisette…what a joke! If Winston goes to another team, he will get a ring a lot sooner than the Bucs.

  15. BucBargainBin Says:

    I’m not against Jameis.
    I am against the way he’s been used. His strength isn’t the deep ball yet that seems to be every play.
    They need to call and Jameis needs to get better at the intermediate routes
    It also wouldn’t hurt to draft some competition for him.

  16. SOEbuc Says:

    Jameis Haters

    I’ll say again a quote that I have used a lot lately:

    “Same “offensive” coach is the one that’s been coaching Jameis since his 20 year old rookie season four years ago. The minute the Atlanta game ends, that coach is going to be sliced and diced and thrown on a meat hook.”

  17. TonyC Says:

    Let’s be logical for a moment he is any worse than Mariota and how would Mariota have fared in this insipid, outdated offensive system with an inadequate running game. My other question is it really Winston that’s so bad or is it the archaic game planning and inconsistent play calling? Why has he regressed under Koetter and Bajakian? There’s just too much stench to make him fully culpable for the offensive implosion.

  18. SOEbuc Says:

    NO DRAFTING QB THIS YEAR TO SEE HOW JAMEIS DOES NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yOU PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS!!!!!!!!! DRAFT CLASS IS SOFT AS F#CK THIS YEAR WITH QB AND OUR DEFENSIVE STARTERS AND BACKUPS HAVE BEEN BANGED UP OR SERIOUSLY INJURED THE ENTIRE YEAR!!!!!!!!

  19. bucnut2 Says:

    Im not a Jamius hater. I just don’t think he is elite like some do on this site. I think at least 1 of the Joe’s(read Le) and some Winston supporters confuse honestly held opinions about his ability
    with hate. I can honestly say I don’t “hate” anyone. Some think he is a great QB. I don’t. As i have said many times, he commits WAY too many TO’s, the most in the NFL during his career span, has a losing record and makes bad decisions off the field. I don’t see to much to be excited about with him as our QB!

  20. TonyC Says:

    I’ll guce Winston the benefit of the doubt because of the pure incompetence of this coaching staff particularly Warhop and Koetter.

  21. Lubby Smith Says:

    Derangement?

    Fans celebrating a QB who wins 40% of his games would be deranged.

  22. Loyaltotheend Says:

    Winston has made the same amount of Pro Bowls as Jeff Garcia did with the Bucs….

    Let’s stop acting like he’s so great and the criticism he gets is unjust

    Based on his tape at best he’s an average starter

    No hate just the truth

  23. Bird Says:

    Bucnut 2

    Totally agree. Average numbers here. Don’t hate him cause he is a buc. He gets next year.

    However, if you criticize him on here you are a hater. Better yet racist.

    My favorite Winston cult members bring in race but then call mccoy mr softie and worthless and rip him a new one. Hypocrisy at its finest. You all are the worst.

  24. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    Tom Edrington Says:
    “the pronoun that should proceed “Jameis Winston”….

    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    Nah, we’re good.
  25. Jean Lafitte Says:
    Is a Bryant endorsement really a good thing? I guess they do have some things in common though like playing for Tampa Bay, and league suspensions.
  26. Wausa Says:
    If I were advising Jamies I would urge him to get away from this horrid franchise.
    The franchise has given him bad coaching, an awful defense, poor OLine play, no running game and the worst special teams in the NFL during his tenure at Tampa, yet a large portion of the media and fans think he is the problem.
    Most of the local media wants him gone and a large amount of the fanbase.
    Give them their wish Jamies and move on to a more stable franchise.
    Jamies is only 24 years old and would most likely have great success if he were to go to Denver, NY Giants, Washington or Jacksonville.
  27. Jecir Says:
    It’s funny to see and hear the Wisnton backers thinking he is going to turn it around under new coaching. Quick recap ( his years at FSU under Fisher) he turned the ball over. His 4 years as Buc QB under Lovie and Koetter…. he turned the ball over. See the pattern?. I agree that he can’t throw the deep ball, maybe he is better in a West coast style offense.
  28. Tampa Bay Demon Says:
    ^^ Jecir
    Contrary to popular thought, Jameis’ interception rate last season was a very reasonable 2.5%.
    What is silly is to think that he can’t perform well under a new outlook.
  29. D-Rome Says:
    Very few hate Jameis. There are those who think he’s the QB of the future. There are those who do not think he’s the QB of the future.
    One thing is for certain is that he has regressed and he’s in the bottom 1/3rd of all starting NFL QBs. There is no denying that the backup QB has had a better season under this system than Jameis.
    There’s no fixing Jameis much in the same way there was no fixing Josh Freeman.
  30. Tampa Bay Demon Says:
    ^^ Always respect your opinions, D-Rome, but that comparison is really insulting to Jameis, who works as hard at his craft as anyone out there. Josh Freeman was an out of control, partying loafter who could care less about his craft and THAT is why there was no fixing that freak.
  31. Tampa Bay Demon Says:
    (loafer)
  32. BrianBucs Says:
    Maybe Bryant just doesn’t want to hear the truth or is in major denial.
    Having your head in the sand only works if you are an Ostrich
  33. DBS Says:
    Still funny to keep watching people. He’s 20,21,22,23,24,25. Then what? 26,27,28 29,30? How about he is an average QB on a garbage team.
  34. TOM Says:
    YaDa, YaDa, YaDa
  35. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:
    Yea, like Antonio said…..WHATEVER he said?
  36. ben Says:
    Winston was 1st pick in the draft …he has shown NOT to be worth it!!
  37. Not there yet Says:
    Complain all you want, it’s sad because you don’t realize you or your opinions don’t matter but you keep complaining anyway. No one really cares what you think. It’s actually kinda stupid when you consider his teammates and everyone else is also ignoring lol the only person you can complain to is joe and he’s just using you for web traffic. So sad you must believe all this complaining will actually amount to anything. I just think your haters because how much he makes next year you think you can determine what is too much. Irrelevant pathetic fake fans for an irrelevant franchise being used all over the web to drive up traffic. Probably the same idiots who talk about firing the owners of the team
  38. D-Rome Says:
    Tampa Bay Demon,
    My overall point is that Jameis will never become the kind of quarterback that makes the correct read and throw to the right player with any sort of consistency. After four years he still forces throws to players.
    Case in point: According to Next Gen stats, Jameis Winston leads all QBs in Aggressiveness %. What that means is that he throws the ball to receivers in tight windows a lot, more than any other player in the NFL. It doesn’t mean he’s completing them. It means he’s throwing them. A tight windows is defined as “where there is a defender within 1 yard or less of the receiver at the time of completion or incompletion.”
    What this stat tells me is that he’s forcing things out there. Nearly 23% of his passes are in tight windows. Contrast that with Patrick Mahomes who’s AGG% is only 11.2%.
    It’s almost comical when I read that Jameis Winston looks neutered out there. No one in the NFL takes more chances with the football than Jameis. In 2016 and 2017 his AGG% was still over 20%. When you couple that with his propensity for turnovers it makes for a QB that is not very good.
  39. Defense Rules Says:
    @TBBF … “stop with the “America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler”….. Why…..because it puts Jameis on a pedestal where he doesn’t belong and it stokes the hate.”
    Well put Bucsfanman, I agree. The media set Jameis up from the very beginning by creating unrealistic expectations for any 20-year-old QB with 2-years college experience coming to a perennially losing program (we drafted #1 that year for a REASON). And like D-Rome said … “Very few hate Jameis.” The media keeps stoking the fire, and some fans eat it up.
  40. WillieG Says:
    I just don’t understand how “experts” like the Joe’s, guys who have watched way more Bucs stuff than I, cannot see the flaws. JW is a turnover machine. He makes bad decisions on and off the field.
    This is what I wrote months ago when Joe was saying the Bucs need to play JW so they can see what they have (4 years of the same crap isn’t enough apparently):
    October 4th, 2018 at 9:05 pm
    Joe Bucs Fan:
    “Healthy franchise quarterback. Flat out loaded and hot at receiver and tight end. Healthy offensive line.”
    My response:
    He had all this last year and he sucked. He is a turnover machine.
    He is inaccurate, to anyone not named Brate, Evans, or Humphries.
    He is too excitable which causes too many overthrown passes.
    He will have a losing record this year. He will have a big hand in that record, literally and figuratively.
    He will average 3 picks every two games.
He will average 1 fumble per game.
He will overthrow 3-5 passes per game.
He will never lead the Bucs to more than 2 TDs in the first half.
The offense under him will start slow and never score more than 30 points in a game.
  41. Tampa Bay Demon Says:
    D-Rome
    Definitely entitled to your opinion, man, and it’s appreciated. There is no doubt in my mind that JW can perform at a very high level in this league, and every system is different.
  42. LakeLand Says:
    LOL
    Division among the Yucs flock
  43. Jim Says:
    You can easily spot Winston defenders by their constant use of the term “if”.
  44. Tampa Bay Demon Says:
    Didn’t use “if” once, Jim.
  45. Joseph Mamma Says:
    Ok, cool, but I want to know what David Boston thinks of Jameis.
  46. Tampa Bay Demon Says:
    ^^ lol, that was pretty funny Joseph. – How about Reidel Anthony?
  47. gotbbucs Says:
    Doesn’t have it between the ears to be great.
  48. SOEbuc Says:
    Jecir
    You’re really trying to hate on Jameis in his college years? Won a Heisman and National Championship as a 19 year old true freshman. We gotta Gator on our hands folks.
  49. SOEbuc Says:
    Don’t know what the problem with Jameis is at all right now. All he has to do is work on mechanics and a good offensive coach can help with that.
    The second half of the season he’s been smarter throwing it out of bounds or taking the sack. He’s had great footwork, running ability (Koetter never allowed even though it was a strong ability used for the Heisman), and connecting on the fake run pass at the line of scrimmage.
    He’s not elite, but not bottom of the barrel. He could rise with better coaching.
  50. JIMMY T Says:
    Hey Joe Blahak
    I read one sentence of your idiotic take to realize u have absolutely no clue!! FRAUD? Anytime any day if u want to debate EVERY GAME of his career I will FREAKING blow u away! All I have is meaningless numbers! So anytime u want to make your case in an intelligent fashion bring it on and U don’t stand a CHANCE when FACTS r stated!!
  51. jmarkbuc Says:
    Antonio Bryant?
    You give one example..Antonio Bryant?
  52. JIMMY T Says:
    I mean all U have is meaningless numbers ! Jameis had an awesome rookie year and in year two they went 9-7 so to say he is a fraud is lunacy!!
  53. Dubcity06 Says:
    Hold on a minute…. what Bucs fans are fair weather fans?!?!?! I demand an answer!!!! What fair weather?? Where?? When? Has it stopped raining?
    Sheesh he has haters. Flaco has haters and won a superbowl with no off field controversy. Everyone has haters. Yall Jameis fans cant handle criticism (cause its true). the hate is warranted. He plays the most scrutinized position on the field and is mediocre at best on a losing team. And he has off field “patterns”. Get used to it.
  54. Joe Blahak Says:
    @JIMMY T
    ….a #1 overall pick in a draft has extra standards to live up to….In that regard, as a career backup at best, he is a FRAUD! What more do you EXPERTS need to see? Inaccurate, a fumbler/turnover machine and a LIAR who can’t be trusted. [Be very careful. Joe’s in a holiday mood otherwise you would have been bounced. Claiming any Bucs player is guilty of a felony who has never stood in front of a judge for such a charge usually gets people run. Consider this your Christmas present from Joe. — Joe]
  55. D-Rome Says:
    I’m with you Dubcity06. Bucs fans are not fair weather fans. In fact, anyone that has been watching this team over the past 11 years is a die-hard in my opinion. The Buccaneers “weather” has to be good in order to have fair weather fans and it has not been good for a very long time.
  56. VaTom Says:
    I don’t hate Jameis. But I don’t think he’s a good QB. The hillarity ensues when Joe’s try to embarrass anyone who doesn’t think James is very good. I base my judgement on his game and the decision making I’ve seen on the FB field. His personal history is something else. But wrapped together point to a guy who has a big heart and poor decision making ability.
    Jameis has thrown a ton of picks. He’s fumbled a ton of balls and he’s won few games. When he is conservative he can’t pull the trigger. He’s a mediocre qb so far with flashes of greatness. The Joe’s are either goofy for Jameis or need to fire the board up for clicks. There is no Football reason for their love affair with the Turnover Machine.
  57. Joe Blahak Says:
    Merry Christmas! …sorry 🙂
  58. DaPostman Says:
    I believe Dapostman has the patent on Winston Derangment Syndrome but since it’s the holidays I’ll let it pass. Merry Christmas!
  59. Crazed Bucs fans Says:
    Stop the J-hate, today.
  60. Melbournejason Says:
    Go after this Mullens kid from San Fran… let them battle for starter with a new coach. If we sign Winston to a big contract we are toast for however long that last.
  61. lambchop Says:
    Antonio who?
  62. Oneilbucs Says:
    Va Tom. Jamies has 8 TDs in only 3 interceptions and the last few games he played in. He is rank number 5 in quarterback sense he been back on the field. But I get it this kid will never be loved here in Tampa. Tampa will keep losing and if the bucs let him walk he will win some where else and yall will be talking bad about the next quarterback while Jamies is wining.
  63. Oneilbucs Says:
    The problem with this team is that they trying to be like all the other teams that all they care about is quarterback. Look at the chargers now they have a good defense that helps the offense. They have a running back that helps the quarterback. That’s why they are wining now . Look how Brees been playing lately. They have been winning because of their defense and running game not Brees. Yall are so blind about football cause yall don’t know nothing about football. Yall just believe what the national media tell yall about the quarterback is all you need to win with. We need to go back to buc ball and that’s running the ball and defense. Stop trying to be like every body else. The ravens went back to who they really are and that’s defense and running game , the bears went back to defense, we need to go back to being a dominant defensive team and a good running team . Jamies is good enough to be a super bowl quarterback.
  64. Telly Smaint Says:
    That was one of the best catches I had ever seen live and I will never forget that play during a turning point in our miserable last 10 years of being a Bucs fan. Garcia slinging the ball around with what little arm he still had left and our defense doing its best to foretell how Bucs defenses would be for the future. After that game against the panthers (when both teams were 9-3 our team just hasn’t had any great success…
  65. Thisisagarbageblog Says:
    The coaches are the problem not Jameis. People blame Jameis because he is an African American.
  66. Christopher Says:
    People blame jameis bc he’s an idiot and a guy you can’t trust. He lied to the organization and city and his fans here in Tampa in the Uber incident. Makes you wonder what else he lied about. But no no, leave Jameis Alone 🙁
    His play on the field is absolutely atrocious and this city thinks this guy is a good QB. I mean Nick Foles and teddy bridgewater are 10x better and they’re backups.
  67. Oneilbucs Says:
    I’m tired of hearing about he lied . He never said he did anything. But one thing about America is they have more simperty for a white woman’s lie more than a black Male telling the truth . Yall really want a white quarterback so just say it . But Jamies ain’t going no where so you need to go root for another team.
  68. Christopher Says:
    So he didn’t lie about the second Uber ride? You know the one where he was left alone with the driver?
  69. Oneilbucs Says:
    So what he was left alone with her . That don’t mean nothing. Her first statement she said that he touch her on her crouch for 4 seconds then she said what you doing then he stop . Think about it I think she let him touch her. 4 seconds is a long time to be touch down there. But the national media never brought that up . And then she changed her story. But Jamies is a black Male and she is a white female.
