Baker looks good and has looked much better after Hue was fired. Jameis seems to have had his confidence shaken after the turnovers and benching. Hopefully a new coach can turn him around but I just don’t see him being a top 10 qb in this league like we all hoped when he was drafted

Baker has a coaching staff that plays to his strength and kept him in offense similar to his college system. Jameis maybe damaged goods by now though.

@Ndog- wasn’t Jameis at 58% completion his rookie year for the season? Mayfield will pass for more TD’s than Jameis did as a rookie as well. Not just about the numbers look at the decision making and keeping his team in games. He’s also thrown for 3 TD’s in consecutive games as a rookie something Jameis has never done.

Let’s see what Jay Miss does today playing someone other than the 49ers and Panthers at home. After all, a Pro Bowl QB can certainly play a good team on the road and come out with a W, rather than eat Ws.

Jameis is great and the QB of the Bucs future……
However, I am not expecting a strong preformance from him today. A rainy road game up North against a great Baltimore defense. I am not expecting the Bucs to win this game but hopefully at least Jamie’s doesn’t implode and throw 4 ints like Cinny. As long as he can stay under 1-2 ints that’ll be good.
But I know all you Jameis haters and fake Bucs “fans” will be rooting against Jameis which baffles me. What kind of fan activity roots against their franchise QB? I have lived in Pittsburgh and let me tell you there are 0 Steelers fans who would ever root against Big Ben, even through all the off field struggles, they deal with it.
If you plan on rooting against Jameis today, do yourself a favor and find a new team. Maybe Baltimore?

So Dirk actually has some success early with the run up the gut, so he runs it, gets yards, then next 1st down goes to shotgun telling the defense he’s passing, then goes back under center and runs it up the gut 3 times in a row on 1st down, again having some success, then on the next 1st down he wants to pass and goes to shotgun.

Use the fact you’re a predictable dolt to throw the defense off by using a play action pass.

Alaskan – I listen to the radio because Deckerhoff is awesome, but also it’s a good 30 seconds ahead of the TV broadcast, so you can hear the play and then see what actually happened, makes it easier to watch for players, how plays develop, etc. I highly recommend it since the commentary on TV is generally awful anyways.

Chill out people, this defense has been historically bad and is on pace to only give up 14 today. That should get you a win 99.9% of the time. Not saying they will only give that up, but just saying so far we’ve seen an even game, on the road, at a really tough place to play.

Tampabaybucfan – Offense has had success running today, so actually I don’t have an issue with run, run, pass there, but the issue is on 3rd and 2, when you’ve had success running, they come out in shotgun and telegraph that it’s a pass. It’s just dumb, if you’ve actually ran the ball today successfully for once, use that to your advantage.

Different years Rod. Winston’s 88.1 this year is ranked 25th in the NFL. I will gladly concede that he is a top 25 QB. Just not top 10.
I don’t see a better option for next year so hoping I will be wrong and he shows us he is a top 10 type of guy every year. Not just for a 4 game stretch.

This year, there is no way Winston can be considered anywhere close to elite.
That said, this is an off year. The turnovers have always been there, but he’s always been dynamic until this year. He;s always had the potential to be elite.
While this year should not be excused completely, it is clear things have been hard for him. He’s at least earned his year next year, especially since I don’t want to have to tank next year, fire yet another head coach, and try to get the 2020 first pick…because there is nothing available this year.
Give Winston 2019 and see what a new HC can do with him. I suspect he’ll do well.

I forget if you were here back before he was drafted…but if you were, you may recall how I predicted that the time for him to get in trouble was not his first off season, but his second. Because he would have been too busy the first one, after being hte Number One Pick.

Bucs 14 – Keep in mind Winston is the only QB, really in all of football, that plays in a 1970s deep ball Air Coryell offense. He’s not going to have those super high completion %’s that inflate those QB ratings, so actually when you compare Winston you should compare him to QB’s that played a similar type of offense – and by those standards Winston is WAY up there, probably the best ever for this offense (compare him to the best years of Dan Fouts for example, and Winston is right there with the best years of Fouts who had years in the system and was much much older).
Anywho I love numbers and they are useful, but they do require context. Winston, playing the toughest schedule in football since 2015, and with the worst defense in football since 2015, has played quite well. Turnovers aren’t generally an issue when the games are close, and that’s a key component of the stats that Winston haters always leave out. Being down by 20 points in the 2nd quarter and Winston trying to get the Bucs back into the game is going to hurt your TO stats. Sure Winston will have a bad game here and there, but when games are close, he’s generally very productive and isn’t turnover prone. But when you’re throwing deep all the time, which the Bucs do, and you’re playing catch-up, which Winston has been doing most of his career, it’s going to negatively affect your stats.

We have abbonded the run yet again. For no good friggen reason. We been in 3rd a long all game again and it’s because we refuse to run what is working.
The only time we do run is in the redzone which rarely produces because we are not physical.
Everytime they put RoJo in the game the defenses key on him and our coaches apparently don’t see this happening.

Defense – You said ‘all day’ – I’m saying I don’t think it’s all day. I do agree he’s been trying to put ‘touch’ on the ball, but I think it has to do with the rain and the ball being harder catch and all those early drops. Those gloves on the WR’s make a big difference when you try to catch those fast balls.

The play-calling is nothing short of MORONIC. When it is 2nd and 1 (or 2), don’t just do the obvious and line up to run. USE the down & distance to your advantage!
On 2nd-and-1, line up to run, then THROW. Same thing on 3rd-and-1. SAME thing on 4th-and-1. Stop doing what the defense thinks is the MOST LIKELY thing, and do the thing they LEAST expect. This is the area Koetter is superior to Monken.
