Monte Kiffin Must Be Sick

November 4th, 2018

What would Monte Kiffin say?

Ian Beckles is outraged at how bad the Bucs defense is and he hopes for the sake of an old man’s well-being that Monte Kiffin has not watched a Bucs game this season.

Beckles, a former Bucs guard and now a popular Tampa Bay area radio personality, took to his podcast “In the Trenches” last week and tore apart the Bucs defense.

Beckles referenced Kiffin, the legendary former Bucs defensive coordinator, and in so many words said Kiffin would be so appalled with the current Bucs defense he might just jump off an office building.

“People say the defense is getting better. Better than what, worst of all time?” Beckles said with an incredulous voice. “Running backs running Scot-free. … When it matters, the Bucs defense cannot stop anybody. You can drive down the field and it doesn’t matter how much time you got. … They always give it up. … We can’t stop anybody.”

In particular, Beckles referenced the Dixie Chicks only needing a few seconds at the end of the first half in Atlanta to muster a field goal before halftime, which proved to be very costly for the Bucs. Beckles also said it was a kick in the groin to watch Andy Dalton march the Bengals down the field to win the game last week.

The sad thing is the Bucs have so, so, so many holes on the roster, they cannot afford to trade any valuable draft picks to obtain a quarterback via trade or through the draft.

As always, Beckles welcomes feedback and invites readers to forward Bucs questions by e-mailing him at IanBeckles@RadioInfluence.com.

    Defense will get abused today.

We can only hope that it’s bend don’t break. Yards and yards are ok. Just don’t give out 6 like it’s an atm.

Cause it will be difficult for bucs offense to put up 30 in this one. Carolinas defense is legit.

  2. Bird Says:

Actually falcons and Steelers put up solid points against them so it’s possible. We have very similar multiple offensive weapons

    Carolina is tough at home.

    Go Bucs

  3. ben Says:

yet a lot of fans think the bucs gm has done a good job bringing in players ..

  4. Buc believer Says:

We lose in a blowout… at least by 28 points

  5. Bucnjim Says:

    Ben,
Not sticking up for the GM but the past 4 years have been about weapons for Winston. He has assembled more great offensive players than I’ve ever seen on a
Buccaneer team. He’s tried getting D lineman but the only one that’s been paying dividends is JPP.

  6. PSLBob Says:

Look, we know the defense sucks. The Panthers will score when they have the ball. So Fitz has just got to put up a lot of points for us to have a chance.

I agree with a poster on another of Joes’ articles – If we win the toss, DON”T DEFER. Get points and get points quickly. Our best defense is the offense keeping the ball away from their offense.

  7. BigMacAttack Says:

Lest Ian forgets, Monte was the master of bend but don’t break. DB 55 referenced this in his podcast with the Sage. The secondary has been decimated with injuries. They’re going to give up yards, just stop the TDs and make them kick FGs. This should be the goal now as Mr. Brooks said, but stop them every chance you get and they have definitely improved in this area.

  8. Alanbucsfan Says:

They don’t have that many holes on the roster-
Kwon, Beckwith and Hargreaves are hurt, secondary has 3 rookies –
    Coaching is/was issue on defense.

On offense- poor running game that showed signs of improvement last week , 21 sacks allowed and QB drama also points to Coaching.

Multi million dollar kicker who can’t kick xpoints. , yet makes 59 yard fg’s – another coaching issue.

Consistent stupid drive killing or drive enabling penalties on offense and defense also points to coaches enabling players to be soft mentally.

Koetter is a good guy and solid offensive schemer who enables consistent mistake prone play because he is not feared by players or doesn’t intimidate players because he allows garbage play to continue with little accountability.

  9. BigMacAttack Says:

Jameis will also get this game figured out in time. I think Licht should give him a 5 yr contract commensurate to his performance and $20mill/year isn’t it. He should be in the $8-10mill range, escalating each year with only around $30mill in guaranteed money. Add big incentives to the contract for wins, TDs and bonuses for no turnovers/interceptions. That’s what I put on the table. Prove it Jameis.

  10. FreeTheSecretWeapon Says:

Trade for Gruden… Coahing problems solved…

  11. VFL98 Says:

I’m confused now. I thought all of the Losses were on Winston???

  12. orlbucfan Says:

Lawdy, I didn’t know Monte was still alive. 🙂

  13. DB55 Says:

Bucs have so, so, so many holes on the roster, they cannot afford to trade any valuable draft picks to obtain a quarterback
    ——————–
This is confusing statement. First, we were told that the dline was much improved after signing Allen, Curry and Unrein. We have learned that this statement was false. And even though we’ve identified that the defense (the historically worst defense in the HISTORY of the nfl) is at fault we still wanna trade for a new QB? Wow!!!!

Honestly hope the “real Buc Fans” get what they want. Winston can’t leave fast enough and then we can go back to knowing without a shadow of a doubt that we won’t win more than 2-4 games per year and all will be right in the world.

  14. Loyaltotheend Says:

Monte was not very good when it came to being innovative or creative remember those last 4 games of 2008…

Easy to look good when you have 5-6 Pro bowlers every year

His time in Dallas showed he made a career off of Sapp Brooks Rice Barber and Lynch
