Matador Defense

November 4th, 2018

Even Bucs’ best LB whiffed.

Joe has to wonder where the Bucs thought Curtis Samuel was traveling to?

On a backbreaking 33-yard reverse run by the Stinking Panthers’ second-year receiver, Samuel took full advantage of Bucs defenders just waving at Samuel as if he was getting ready to board an international flight for a long business trip.

Samuel started up the left sideline, cut inside and then ran up the middle. It didn’t matter who it was — from guys who didn’t have any business being on an NFL field to a Pro Bowl player like Lavonte David .He landed smoothly in the end zone to take a 21-7 lead.

Just a sad, half-arse effort, that’s all you need to know.

They coudln’t have stopped Peyton Barber today.

  2. WalkdaPlank Says:

Everyone except for JPP on this defense could leave and it wouldn’t make a difference

  3. TheBucsAnthem Says:

THEY GOT BEAT ON A COLLEGE GADGET PLAY

    PATHETIC!!!!!!

  4. EA Says:

David isn’t a probowl LB, I don’t remember last time he had an Int, he is the third best LB on this sorry defense.

  5. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

    Blame Jameis

  6. Say what Says:

    fire Dirk Now!!!

  7. Season Is Over Says:

Did Koetter explain why we have to watch 8 more useless games to end the year for the second year in a row?

  8. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    sorry

but the defense looked and played like quit today

    EXCEPT FOR JPP AND NASSIB

  9. TheBucsAnthem Says:

After today, I will no longer dedicate my SUNDAYS to watching them lose for 3 hours…..

    ….season is over

………………i gotta better things to do with my time

  10. Resurrection of Duff Says:

Unfortunately, just like Raheem, Koetter might be loosing his team.

    The bus is getting full.

  11. EA Says:

Bottom line is you need hard coaches with good football knowledge to teach, motivate and hold these guys accountable.
I wonder if Bruce Arians would be interested in coming back to coaching.

  12. Mike Johnson Says:

LMAO here. We are the Matador Defense. Who wrote that. Funny as hell.
I’m visualizing our defensive guys holding their red capes..letting the bulls happily charge on thru the Defense. While they..take a bow to the crowd. Ahhhh, lets pick out the Spanish music to suit the occasion! Can’t stop laughing guys.

  13. JimmyJack Says:

Worst coached team I have ever seen.

Maybe Hugh Jackson or Rich Kotite are the only others you could argue.

  14. Resurrection of Duff Says:

A waste of an offense 2018.

  15. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Red Capes are standard issued by GMC one they arrive at ONE BUC PALACE

  16. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Hire HUE JACKSON to complete the TAMPA BAY BROWNS

  17. BigMacAttack Says:

Lavonte could have stayed home today considering his effort or lack there of. Taylor and Bond are just horrible. Nassib and JPP do a respectable job but the D tackles are horrible. McCoy looks very fat and out of shape just like the long hair next to him.

  18. thee good ol'e days Says:

LVD and his buddy GMC can take a damn hike, as well as that idiot who got the taunting call against us, this team is undisciplined, badly coached, has untalented players who lack heart and fortitude just a bunch going thru the motions getting paid, i do not see the desire, only one and we had to trade to get him thank you JPP

  19. Resurrection of Duff Says:

This defense can only stop Jameis at practice.

  20. BigMacAttack Says:

Buckner has done a fabulous job with this d line. He needs to go too. Their primary asset is jumping offsides.

  21. orlbucfan Says:

Oh, BS, Joes. Carolina was holding all day and getting away with it. Want to know why?? Cos the stupid Bucs HC would not draw up an intelligent game plan for his offense. So naturally the refs crap on us. I listen to these games so I know what I’m talking about here! If the Bucs offense was called correctly at the game’s beginning, we would have nailed Carolina’s defense. I am still fuming over it and I am an old wrinkled fan with low BP.

  22. BigMacAttack Says:

The refs hate the Bucs and deservedly so.

  23. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Buckner isn’t really the problem

TALENT is the problem………our secondary FLAT OUT SUCKS

  24. Tampabaybucfan Says:

This is a defense that can ill afford injuries to it’s starters….it simply isn’t deep enough…..we desperately need Hargreaves & Kwon….probably Conte…..Beckwith……we just aren’t that talented.

The offense is healthy without injuries all year….it is totally forced to be one-dimensional when we are down so much early…..

The QBs are not the problem…..it’s the defense and no running game coupled with losing the turnover battle every week.

  25. Mike Johnson Says:

Talent is not the problem. The coaching is the problem. 31 other team get a chance to get the same talent we got..except the raiders. I say start all over. FIRE’EM ALL!!!

  26. JimmyJack Says:

We never attacked their backfield. This team just simply sits back playing scared and they allow the other team to do whatever they want……..And to give us no chance at all is our inability to tackle.

I know we don’t practice these things. The only practice this team is probabbly doing is watching game film on the couch. The proof is in the pudding.

  27. Rob Says:

Koetter does not deserve to finish the seasonable and the players already gave up. No one knows how to tackle. No one blocks. One pick in 7 games warrants firing of all defensive coaches. On second thought, keep Buckner because at least he appears as pissed off as I am. I am so tired of my team being the absolute laughing stock of the soprts world, not just the NFL. There is no upside to keeping Koetter. Team has quit on him. Defense never even tried all year. Sucks when you have to look forward to watching real teams play (not my Bucs) and dream about draft day although we can’t even get that right

  28. Bucamania Says:

The only play I saw Vea make was when he mistakenly tried o tackle McCaffrey who didn’t have the ball!

  29. ElioT Says:

Lavonte has been indoctrinated in losing, he’s not a leader and neither is McCoy.

They are the first guys to go with those hefty salaries.

You can be the worst defense in history without these two.

Let them move on to real franchises and hopefully experience some form of winning in their pro careers.

If you think Lavonte or McCoy add ANYTHING to this team at this point, you have NO clue about the mentality of a team or organization.

  30. JimmyJack Says:

We just allow their backfield plays to destroy us all day. As a fan I sit and watch to see what will happen when we adjust. But for some f***in reason we never adjust!! We just allow the other team to keep beating us the same way all game long…….This is why a guy like Mitch Trubisky can have the best game of his entire career.

This entire coaching staff just seems absolutely helpless. I have more respect for an upside down 🐢

  31. JimmyJack Says:

A real coach doesn’t have Carlton Davis acting a fool when his unit has given up 7 TDs.

And if that did happen to a real coach there would have been words on the sideline.

You hold no accountability then stupid crap like that is expected. That’s why it happens every game

  32. Bucs14 Says:

We got no leadership on defense. GMC is not the guy he was hyped to be, nor is he a leader, unless it is line to get some ice cream. We got no pass rush. The backs can’t cover cause they suck and are too slow. We may not win another game this season.

Koetter will soon loose the locker room, if he hasn’t already. This team simply has no pride, and does not know how to win.

  33. stpetebucsfan Says:

We could not have stopped the Panthers in the first half if the game was flag football…not even two hand touch would have worked.

We are really, really a horrible tackling team…so much so it’s embarrassing and I’m usually the guy who really gets mad at posters talking about the “manhood” of an NFL player…but it’s time. Some of the guys need to look in their freaking jocks and see if they still have testicles. And it’s time they HEAR this kind of talk.

Perhaps if they knew the ENTIRE community wonders about their toughness and thinks of them as total wusses they might get angry enough to play…and tackle.

How many tackles did JW miss? Fitz? Like I thought…the problem is not at QB so much as the worst defense I think I’ve ever seen the Buc put on the field. It’s hard because on paper they should be a lot better. But talent on paper is no substitute for just a little sack in the jocks.

  34. stpetebucsfan Says:

So Matadors get to hear Ole everytime the bull passes with no contact…when they whiff so to speak..the genesis of the term.

Watching the Lightning play in Montreal last night I heard Canadian fans use that ole soccer (bullfighting) chant…Ole…Ole…Ole..Ole.

That’s what we need to bring to RayJay. When our D hits the field we should just start singing…Ole Ole….Ole Ole. We know they’re going to whiff.

  35. Clarence Says:

do you think if the glazers asked real nice that Bruce Allen would come back??

  36. Clarence Says:

Oh re the D, one of many problems with the Bucs for years has been that the lunch pail guys (the starters who aren’t famous names, and the rotational guys) are scrubs. On teams like the panthers, those guys can be depended on by their hc to step in and do a decent, unspectacular but workmanlike job.

On the Bucs the cupboard is always bare behind the starters. Kwon goes down and the whole centre of the d crumbles. If JPP gets injured there is not a single
Other DE capable of stepping in. Maybe Nassib?

Few things in my life make me as sad as the Bucs. Watching football should be fun.

  37. gambelero Says:

If the Rams lose to the Saints today, there’ll be a huge crowd on joeramsfan.com calling for McVay to be fired and Goff benched.

  38. TOM Says:

Whoever said talent isn’t the problem I beg to differ. The Bucs only have a handful of talented players that play like it. The GM & HC would like us to believe we have a team of talented players which is so far from the truth. Also I envy Carolina because they do know how to draft the right players.

  39. Curse of Gruden Says:

It’s taken me years to realize it, but the Glazers should have kept Schiano. The guy did more with less.

  40. uckinator Says:

Soft practices, soft coach, soft team !

  41. Joel Says:

I still dont understand the fascination with David, McCoy, etc on defense.

#54 isn’t anything special. Neither is Kwon.

Oh and Smith and Marpet on the Oline? Hahahahaha!!!!

  42. SOEbuc Says:

People are dumb about LVD. Gets the most tackles every week for this defense that is now run by the LB coach after we made the dumba$$ desicion to keep Smith on for so long. Our other two starting LBs are out with serious injuries. Doesn’t help him be better. He had 5 FF and was the MVP of what was a terrible defense in 2017.

Bottom line. You send LVD to a team with middle of the class defense, and he will be f#cking killing it again.

  43. teacherman777 Says:

If we had signed Tyranne Mathieu, Eric Reid and drafted Donte Jackson who are all from LSU aka DBU, we would we be 5-3 right now.

    Tyranne- nickle
    Eric Reid SS
    Justin Evans- FS

    Play a permanent nickle, only 2 LB’s.

We would be competing right now.
