It’s Jameis!

November 19th, 2018

He’s back!

Raise the flag!

It seems Bucs Bit-O-Honey-snacking, Ozark-watching coach Dirk Koetter has been overcome with football savvy. The Bucs just announced that America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, will be your starting quarterback Sunday when the Bucs host the 49ers.

This comes from the Twitter feed of Buccaneers.com multimedia maven Scott Smith.

Joe wonders if this was too late? It’s almost better if journeyman backup Ryan Fitzpatrick starts because he gives the Bucs the best chance to win… at the draft.

Alright, now go get the job done.

  2. Syl Says:

This team has an issue developing talent that honestly is not associated with the passing game.

  3. Mr Magoo Says:

    Queue the haters comments…..

  4. Troy Says:

LOL! We need to win some games. The draft position doesn’t matter to a good GM.

  5. Eric Says:

Awesome. Lets get on a streak!

  6. DBS Says:

What no Jesus garb and crown?

  7. DBS Says:

    2 picks and a fumble.

  8. BuccaneerByBirth Says:

    Super Bowl, here we come!

  9. GMen Says:

Winston will have 350 yards, 2 picks, 1 fumble loss. He isn’t any better than Fitz, in this offense or any other offense under a different coach. They are both easily replaceable.

  10. LifeOfABucFan Says:

DBS..You think Jameis will be that good? I call 3 picks and 2 fumbles…lol

  11. JimmyJack Says:

Joe calling a lost football game a win(in draft slots) is just another 🔪 in my spine.

  12. TiredBucsNoleFan Says:

    Gonna run the table now….

Ok, can’t say that with a straight face. It doesn’t matter…

  13. ben Says:

Dang ,, i was hoping the 3rd string qb got a shot .

  14. Kobe Faker Says:

“So this is how you develop a young Quarterback?…

Have him guessing if he starts or not every monday at 3pm”

    Kobe Faker

  15. CK28FSU Says:

Unfortunately, Jameis doesn’t provide an upgrade to the second and third levels of our defense.
But get the man his confidence back!
    #GoBucs

  16. DBS Says:

Life. I was trying to be fair and just give him his usual history.

  17. SchwiftyBuc Says:

    @Troy

That statement couldn’t be any more false. Winning 2 meaningless games last year cost us a shot at Saquon Barkley, Bradly Chubb, and Quenton Nelson.

While Licht should have done a LOT better than he did with the picks that we had, the fact is that we missed out on gamechangers, day 1 all-pros, because the dudes running this franchise didn’t mandate we tank last season.

Idc what anyone says about tanking being weak. In certain situations it’s 100 percent the right thing to do. Idk why the NBA has caught on to the fact that Tanking should be openly embraced but the NFL hasn’t. Just look at what it did for the 76er’s.

  18. Troy Says:

    Kobe,

When you don’t give a sh1t anymore like Dirk, why would you care about who starts at QB at 3pm on Monday? He’s more worried about if he’s beard will be thick enough to deal with that Idaho winter by January.

  19. JimmyJack Says:

    Schwify that bandwagon fan logic.

  20. DBS Says:

Kobe. When did you want him to tell him? Sunday night in church? They do no practice today. He did it just like they did when he started fitz. WHEN he TALKED to both!

  21. CK28FSU Says:

Unfortunately, Jameis can’t provide an upgrade to the 2nd and 3rd levels of our defense.
But it’s essential that we get this man his confidence back
    #GoBucs

  22. Zwak Says:

So Dirk left the presser made two calls then made the announcement? We need add a therapist on the staff also!

  23. JimmyJack Says:

Winning games didn’t cost us nothing. As I remember we managed to get a top ten picks along with 3 second rounders……..That can be franchise changing if you make excellent picks. And had we made excellent picks you would have no b**ch.

  24. GMen Says:

Most backup QBs only get a few minutes of notification that they are playing. Winston is getting a week.

  25. 813bucboi Says:

we dont have to put fitz in to tank….we just need dirk to call the plays and the defense to do what they’ve been doing all year…..

    doesnt matter who’s under center, we’ll have a top5 pick regardless……

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  26. Kobe Faker Says:

    “DBS,

JW should be starting and played every snap since Fitz first bench

JW should have never ever been benched and started every game

you cant develop a young QB playing him every other game”

    Kobe Faker

  27. 407buc Says:

Doesn’t matter where we pick as long as Licht is making the pick.Vita Vea and Ronald Jones were the worst combo of high first and second round picks in recent memory. How many teams got no production out of top 2 picks

  28. Troy Says:

    SchwiftyBuc,

That’s just not true. If Licht wan’t any of the players you mentioned, he could’ve made a trade. It would have cost the organization dearly, but it could have been done. This nonsense that you tank the season to move up a place or two in the draft in crazy. With this regime, the have f’ed it up anyway even if we had the #1 pick.

  29. AfrikaThaRapper Says:

    Will Grier anyone ???

  30. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

Happy to see Jamies start over Fitz. His real test will come when he plays the panthers and saints. THEN we will FINALLY know if he’s a BUST

  31. Sapp STFU Says:

    (Yawn)

  32. Dewey Selmon Says:

Keep slingin’ it Jameis. GO BUCS!!!

  33. JimmyJack Says:

I agreed with the Winston benching. It was the first time this HC held him accountable. Hranted, Dirk may not have benched him for that sole reason but it still held JW accountable nonetheless.

We will never know but of Winston continues to play well I believe it doesn’t happen without him getting benched.

  34. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

Oh yeah and against the Ravens

  35. small axe Says:

    nice try joe

  36. Tony LA Says:

The #1 thing that can happen for the Bucs is that Jameis progresses and things click over the next few weeks.

Every year it’s proven that you don’t need a top ten pick to get real talent. Coaches and scheme matter far more than draft position.

Go win and root for Jameis to put it together (finally).

    Great news and go Bucs!!

  37. LakeLand Says:

So the Yucs are flipping coins now, to see which QB starts

    DYSFUNCTIONAL

  38. DBS Says:

Hope he wears his cross. Because Smith and Benenoch will probably get him hurt before the season is over anyway.

  39. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

If Jamies takes this team to 9-7, pay him $25 mil

  40. Dooshlarue Says:

The Blind Messiah, Bernie Mack….. err a Jameis Winston everyone.
    I’m sooooo excited!!!!!
    Let’s eats some Ws …….

  41. Easy Says:

Kyler Murray will be our starting QB next season

  42. Common sense Says:

Don’t see why everyone is on his dick. He’s a no.1 overall pick, can’t win the job from a 7th Rd journeyman QB. Not even accurate past 20yds. I want what’s best for our team and neither of these QBs are the answer

  43. JimmyJack Says:

Is DeSean Jackson still a Captain? Jeez which moron choose him to be a cap? Oh that’s right, our HC did.

  44. Dewey Selmon Says:

We might set the all time passing record AND biggest turnover margin all in one season. damn…

  45. DBS Says:

Kobe. What does that have to do with the fact he told him he was starting this week at 3pm today??? So What??

  46. Season Is Over Says:

Is everyone supposed to forget the past four years and support Winston?

  47. Dooshlarue Says:

Next week’s press conference by Jameis:

“It’s on me, the loss. I mean, I just need to play better…… oh, and like I said, I’m blessed and God is good.”

  48. JimmyJack Says:

Can I wear my Winston jersey in public again?

  49. pick6 Says:

i get this “tank for the draft” stuff but i don’t buy into it. at some point you want to see guys prove that they are keepers, and tanking is an invitation for people to be sloppy and unaccountable. that’s a switch that’s hard to turn off in later seasons when the going gets tough.

  50. JimmyJack Says:

Season is over…….yes. at least in my opinion.

  51. Rick Says:

    That picture cracks me up!😂

  52. Wausa Says:

Normally I would 100% agree with Joe that the Bucs are better off loosing to help their position in the draft, but this franchise has got to get some wins.

It’s been a very long time of loosing and the franchise needs to feel more victories.

Whatever the Bucs offense produces it typically will not be enough to overcome the worst NFL defense I have ever seen.

  53. quickdrw21 Says:

Well he gives us the best chance to loose so why not.

  54. LakeLand Says:

The Yucs don’t have to tank

They have the worst winning percentage in the NFL
Since they came into the league

  55. Bobby M. Says:

Even with the 49ers playing a 3rd string QB….One turnover or less from Winston….we win. Two or more….we lose.

  56. JimmyJack Says:

Pick6 not to mention that I would like to have a little pride in my team.

I guess some fans don’t mind bending over and letting our own divisision give it to us in the rear.

Meanwhile those teams get lesser draft slots and still out do us in the draft. I think this franchise, and their ineptitude have slowing removed the spines from a good chunk of it’s fans.

  57. Kobe Faker Says:

    JimmyJack Says:

Can I wear my Winston jersey in public again?

“Yeah,This week for certain but have your 14 jersey nearby next monday”

    Kobe Faker

  58. Getaclue Says:

49ers te Kittle is going to go off on us, just watch

  59. DBS Says:

JJ. There are a ton of Buc fans here in Tallahassee. I see hats and a lot of Super Bowl style jerseys. Only a couple new. and The only Winston one I have seen was not the new style but somehow was made from the Super Bowl style. Don’t know why anyone wants to wear these new ones. UGLY.

  60. JimmyJack Says:

Kobe I always keep my #14 close by.

But my #14 is about twenty years old and has several pizza spills on it.

  61. Pete I Says:

    Yeah, like when Leftwich started…hooray….

  62. JimmyJack Says:

Getaclue……We can’t even stop blocking TEs from blowing up our secondary.

What you said is hardly a opinion. Hardcold fact.

  63. Kobe Faker Says:

    “#14 Brad Johnson…nice”

    Kobe Faker

  64. JimmyJack Says:

DBS If I had my way this team would be stuck with these uniforms until the proove to be worthy of something better. I might even add a couple pink and neon green stripes just for emphasis.

  65. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I think it is unlikely that there will be a winning streak. I mean, I won’t say its impossible, but its unlikely.

So don’t put that on Jameis. Rather, look for him to show marked improvement by the end of the season.

Remember, Koetter is replaced, Jameis will get a new mentor. That could make a big difference.

Imagine what Jim Harbaugh could do with him. Or Chris Petersen. Or Josh McDaniels. Or Norv Turner.

Who knows who they will get if they replace Koetter?

  66. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Bout dang time, he will probably throw 400+ yards 3td and and int in a win but the haters will bicker about his almost picked off pass.

Jameis is the best QB we have ever had and if you don’t know that then you haven’t been following the Bucs long or paying attention.

He is our QB and I hope ( because he is our QB ) that he will be successful for this team. He may not be able to overcome this historically bad defense but that isn’t his fault and if you have a shred of football intelligence you won’t place the blame on his shoulders.

If he can reduce turnovers to say 1.5 per game, and continue to run this top 5 offense, he is MORE than worth 20M. That’s a freakin bargain and again if you say he isn’t worth it, I question your knowledge of pro football.

Finally I’m excited to watch next week, come on Jameis!
    Go BUCS!!

  67. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @DBS

I have not bought a jersey since the uniform change. I refuse to. Heck, I’m not fashion designer, but even I could design better uniforms.

  68. NPRSageBoy Says:

He’s the starter until he melts down or gets arrested. Go Bucs!

  69. JimmyJack Says:

Alaskan……Last Night there was at least one fan crying about Winston getting picked on a Hail Mary. So yeah, your first sentence is pretty accurate.

A freaking Hail Mary………Some of this s**t I wouldn’t be able to make up if I tryed.

  70. D-Rome Says:

It’s almost better if journeyman backup Ryan Fitzpatrick starts because he gives the Bucs the best chance to win… at the draft.

That’s really not true, but OK.

I’ll be rooting for the Bucs to win against the 49ers but let’s not kid ourselves. It’s painfully obvious that Jay-Miss is just a younger version of FitzTragic. He does things out there that make you shake your head in amazement. He also does things out there that make you shake your head in disbelief.

He is not a franchise QB even if some of you still call him that. This organization needs a QB that is going to truly change the culture. Jay-Miss has shown he’s not a leader, that he’s immature, and judging by his decision making he has shown he’s un-coachable. This team needs a QB that is a lot closer to Carson Wentz, Patrick Mahomes, or Andrew Luck and I’m not talking about “stats”. Jay-Miss will always be closer to being Ryan Tannehill or Andy Dalton than he will be to any of those guys.

  71. cw_buc_crazy Says:

Now he can not hide after the bench, this was not DK decision. Was Glazers.
Good, now he will show to the rest of the world that is NOT a $20 mil QB, that is below average QB.
After this season ONLY FSU fans are going to stand by JW.
Next 6 games he will :
    Total turnaround 22 to 25.
    Total interception through 12 -15
    Total wide/short passes 28 -35
    Total yards 1500 – 2000

  72. JimmyJack Says:

D-Rome…..He has six games to change your opinion. Enjoy the ride.

I want a TD on the first possession. Enough of this offense farting around until halftime.

  73. Lewis Says:

Wow everyone blames jw when the joke is these coach has no buisness coaching period wasn’t good in college / wasn’t good in Atlanta / and same result here .

  74. Tc Says:

Let’s focus on the positive. We have the number one offense in the nfl (according to espn statistics). Both qb’s led us to that statistic despite the interceptions. It is a high risk, high reward offense without a real running game. Koetter and Monken have done a great job calling the offense. The problems have been on the other end of the the team. Kicking has been atrocious and the defense even worse. Get a good defensive coordinator and kicker. I would get rid of Licht just based on this last draft.

  75. Fartman Says:

yeah lets just get this train wreck of a season… in a decade of trainwrecks… over. Lets get a new coach on the 5% chance, the new regime won’t suck… we know there is 100% chance that we already suck.

  76. Dre Says:

All you guys who love jameis are dumb …. bucs suck and the qbs won’t matter bucs lose every game rest of the way and you all are like oh now we can get on a streak …. yeah right

  77. D-Rome Says:

The #1 thing that can happen for the Bucs is that Jameis progresses and things click over the next few weeks.

    Tony LA,

It’s been 50 games already. If it hasn’t clicked by now, it’s not going to click. I wish I was wrong about Jay-Miss, but I don’t think I am. By the 4th season all questions about what a QB can be are answered. Jay-Miss is an interception and turnover machine and he will continue to be that guy.

  78. Doctor_berto Says:

    D-Rome,

Of course a team wants a Wentz, Mahomes or a Luck…the problem is being able to land and develop a qb like that. You think the bucs didn’t want a good qb for 40 years? Jameis still has promise, more than Fitz or anyone in this draft class at least.

  79. Bucsmarley Says:

Did you people watch a different game than I did
I understand Winston had 4 drives that resulted in tds
But if your being truly honest he had a fumble and 1 interception
And 2 possibly 3 should have been interceptions. All that in 1 qtr plus
Of football. Personally I’ve seen enough. Same poor decision with flashes
Of greatness. Ide prefer to maybe make a play for bridgewater and draft a
Qb the following year maybe tua. I’ve been a fan since the very
Beginning in the 70’s and have no issues rebuilding. To all
That don’t agree just remember no playoffs since our super bowl win
Let’s do it right this time. Try for Dungy or Arians for president
Of operations, possibly Derek brooks for GM( why not?) ide like Schwartz for a couch possibly
Long post short I’ve seen enough from Winston and prefer to move
I believe he could be a good qb just not as a buc. We really should
    Consider kapernick

  80. Wesley Says:

At this point losing really is winning come draft day. I just hope we have a gm who can judge talent by then.

  81. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If we are in the opponents territory it should be a 4 down situation…..because it doesn’t matter what the yardage, our defense will give it up…..so no punts….and very few FGs please……

Oh, I forgot….all of you losers looking for losses for better draft position…you can ignore this advice….because you simply want to lose.

  82. D-Rome Says:

D-Rome…..He has six games to change your opinion. Enjoy the ride.

I hope he does. He would have to have an interception percentage ratio of under 2% and no more than 2 fumbles the rest of the way for my mind to be changed. If he manages that, I’ll say I was wrong and stand in front of One Buc Place so that all the Jay-Miss supporters can throw rotten tomatoes at me. The Joes can be first in line.

  83. Wesley Says:

    Doctor- Wentz sucks.

  84. JimmyJack Says:

Funny you guys bring Wentz into the convo. Some fans in Philly are calling for Foles.

  85. Kansas95Buc Says:

the Winston hate is unreal lmao

  86. Jean Lafitte Says:

yippee ki-yay …now there’s no-one else to blame, but I’m sure his jock strap holding fans will find something, not if, but when he craps the bed again.

  87. JimmyJack Says:

D-Rome……Just to let you know the fumbles are a team problem. That’s why we are getting stripped every game…..And not just at the QB position. It’s obvisous that teams around the league know we have that weakness and are explaining it.

Personally I’m not worried about fumbles until we get a coach in here who will not tolerate them.

    That’s a lack of Accountability.

  88. JimmyJack Says:

If Winston closes out the season 4-2 he will change a lot of opinions.

Lol that one tall effing task on this team.

  89. Zam Says:

    TV ratings to fall 50%

  90. Bigbucfan90 Says:

Let Jameis show the world why he was the number one pick in the draft and shut up about this upcoming draft yeah it’s meaningless the rest of the year but we need to end it on the right foot and be a good football team going forward and really if we need to trade up in the draft we have so much talent to trade away that someone will jump at it

  91. T REX Says:

The over under on turnovers next sunday?

    2.5

    ATM in da house!

  92. T REX Says:

And how many people will claim “he gets it” during some meaningless games and a super small sample size?

  93. BrianBucs Says:

So Jameis “Buffalo Here I Come” Winston will get the start. Hopefully will increase his trade value

  94. JimmyJack Says:

TRex….6 games is not a small sample size in the NFL.

  95. Bucsace Says:

Jeez, It must be nice to nice to have $21 million to gamble with….considering the possibility that Winston could get injured

  96. Knack2Babbyyyy Says:

Americas Turnover Machine, Ryan Fitzpatrick, has been benched.

  97. K_Bassuka Says:

🤣🤣🤣🤣 suck it up butter cups just like the rest of us had to suck it up when this idiot of a HC decided to play Suckpatrick. Man I can’t wait to get a good HC here.

  98. Buchead5588 Says:

Kbass I agree finally my QB is Back Go Jameis

  99. Frank813 Says:

Does it really matter at this point???

  100. Bucsace Says:

That’s funny…..What new head coach would risk his job on Winston!!!

  101. gotbbucs Says:

Winning is the last thing this team should be trying to do at this point. Picking 7th or 8th is a brutal place to be. Either win enough to get in the teens or lose enough to be top 3.

  102. JimmyJack Says:

Lol you guys aren’t had enough losing. Just begging for more aren’t you.

Oh but your bandwagon fans you don’t care…….Some of us fans still have some spine left and would like to see us try to face a little face against our division so get us a X-Mae present and STFU til January

  103. MHBuc Says:

Jameis has done a swell job of getting the Bucs a top 5 pick himself. He’s looked atrocious this year and I’m forgetting something….oh yeah, the Uber deal, most important.

  104. Bucnjim Says:

You know with Jameis and even McCoy it’s not hate or bigotry it’s pure frustration with most fans. I have been on here arguing with the Joes since Barrett Ruud was LB. The organization took a turn towards finesse players and I couldn’t stand it. The NFL is about alpha males who want it more than their opponents. Yes there are some really bad dudes playing but it is a game where you play hurt most of the time even when you are healthy. This organization has painted these so called finesse players as the future. The problem with this is you take a good player and exceed both pay and expectations. Ruud McCoy and Winston great? No but all really good in their prime. Stop painting a picture for the fans that these guys are all stars when they are simply good players!

  105. WalkdaPlank Says:

The 49ers are about to pull up to America’s best ATM and withdraw some turnovers while Nick Mullens carves up our defense who will make him look like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning fused together.

ATM (America’s Turnover Machine) should hopefully have a good game against a poor 49ers defense, then again the Bengals defense isn’t all that great and he threw 4 picks at them. I hope Jameis can turn it around but I just don’t see it happening. He clearly doesn’t have any idea what the phrase “ball security” is and I will admit he looked mostly solid this Sunday against a defense that Fitz struggled against but also showed yet again his lack of ball security which is the reason he got benched in the first place.

He has learned nothing from his benching. I believe he will show flashes of greatness and then take two steps back by giving the other team the ball, as he has done his whole 4 year career

I hope Jameis proves me wrong.

  106. Bobby M. Says:

So lets put this in perspective…..With the same offensive, defensive and special teams players….Winston has gone 4-12…..Fitzpatrick is 4-6.

I’ll agree Fitzpatrick isn’t the solution….but his track record is better then Winstons. So those arguing Winston has all this “upside”….He needs to drastically improve just to be on par with Fitzpatrick….And we all agree that Fitz is not a starting QB in the NFL. So what does that make Winston? You can find a way to make it work….the Ravens made it work with Dilfer, but that doesn’t equate to a franchise QB. Winston at his best is a glorified game manager and in our division, that wont cut it.

  107. EEK Says:

    Up and down.
    That has defined Winston’s career.
That and all of the off field nonsense that is.
    No thanks.
    Next college qd up please.

  108. Brad Says:

Just flip a coin. What a joke

  109. BrianBucs Says:

Winston will be auditioning for other teams the rest of the year. Hopefully he plays great so Bucs can get more for him. Then the new Bucs regime and brass can acquire their own true franchise QB

  110. BrianBucs Says:

    Brad

I know, right? The Bucs QB situation is a mess

  111. Bucnjim Says:

Dilfer was let go after the SB not sure why ANYONE would bring him up. The only QB the Bucs missed on was young even though Doug Williams was a good QB not to the extent of young.

  112. LakeLand Says:

Steve Young only won one Super Bowl with the 49ers

And they had one of the greatest teams of all time

  113. LakeLand Says:

    Only one as a Starter

He won 2 more as Joe Montana backup

  114. stpetebucsfan Says:

Why do we play the game. Different reasons of course but at the end of the day, and especially at the end of a losing season, we play largely for pride. PRIDE!!! Do we freaking have any?

Oh…let’s lose on purpose so we’ll get a higher shot at a 50/50 draft pick. Pride…who has any of that? Desperation maybe.

One draft choice is not going to make or break this franchise. Again what we need right now is somebody who can come in and change our culture. Change the culture and then we can start playing to win again.

  115. Buc4life Says:

How can Jameis and/or the Bucs win when our defense can’t stop anyone from scoring. Big Ben, Trubisky, Lamar Jackson, Case Cenuun and many other QBs had worse games yesterday than Jameis, but still won because their defense stopped the other teams. Our defense show no resistance and we will never win without any stops.

  116. OneBucPerson Says:

Got to give the new HC and GM as much tape on Jameis from this year as possible so they know what they’re working with and can decide whether or not to keep him. Here’s hoping he plays well but that we keep losing.

  117. Bucnjim Says:

Simple you CAN NOT turn the ball over in the NFL. Say it one more time YOU CAN NOT TURN THE BALL OVER IN THE NFL. No need to analize it any further. When a team in the NFL is -2 in turnovers their chance of wining is LESS than 30%. Now the Bucs are like -20 for the year. There is no chance in hell you will ever win with that so all the arguing about who is the best QB really doesn’t matter.

  118. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

Jamies is a bringing a “turning the ball over is normal” culture to the Bucs

  119. Bucnjim Says:

Buc4life^^^^^^^^yes you need a decent D but even the best D in the league can’t overcome turnovers by the offense at this pace

  120. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

Meanwhile Aaron Donald gets doubled teamed 70% of the time and has 12 sacks, big fat softie Gerald McCoy only has 4

  123. Seminole Bill Says:

I truly hope that Licht and Koetter are not the GM/head coach team that decides if Jameis stays or not. The two of them made an absolute mess of the 2018 draft. They drafted Vea #1, and he has been a loss from day one. #2 was Ronald Jones who seems not to be strong enough last as a RB in the NFL. Also at #2 were Davis and Stewart, also mediocre. As for #3, Alex Cappa, he has not seen a snap yet.

Regardless of what happens with Jameis, this last year’s draft will put the Bucs in the hole for years to come.

  124. LakeLand Says:

The Bucs offense is #1 in the NFL in turnovers with 29

  125. LakeLand Says:

People can blame the defense all day and all night

    But in the end

The 29 offensive turnovers is killing this team

  126. Bobby M. Says:

The blame on the defense is irrelevant….For every game you say we would have hypothetically won, there’s a game Winston should have lost. You can’t say we definitely would have won and not also say which games we should have lost because of him. It’s like you’re so desperate for any upside you’re willing to ignore all the games we should have won or the games we did win despite him. Fitz won 40% of his games with the same players….Winston has only won 25%. If Winston wins six in a row, his winning % will be on par with Fitz….whom everyone agrees is not the solution. He’s not winning six in a row. He hasn’t won two in a row since Dec 2016.

  127. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

    Bobby M

Regardless of how Jameis or the offense plays, 35 points should win you the game 100% of the time.

  128. Fire Light Says:

Suck it Jameis Bashers.. Famous Jameis Winston has suffered enough and is here to salvage the season. Pencil in some tasty W’s. Woo hoo! Can Koetter Cfirreeeee Licht!

  129. Bobby M. Says:

No it shouldn’t…..and we haven’t. When you’re down 3 scores at half time, how many points you finish with is irrelevant. You cant win in the nfl buried by 3 TDs by half time or the 3rd qtr….That’s a well established fact and proven over and over again by our 2 QBs. You cant be down 24 – 7….and then say we scored 35 points so we should have won. We only scored 7 in the first half….The other team keeps scoring while we burn up clock helping us ultimately lose. Go back and look at all our “high scoring” games…..Terrible production in the first half, multiple turnovers….we were buried and never recovered which is exactly what the statistics prove. There is no relevance to score when you’re – 25 in turnovers…or whatever we have reached at this point. Its the point Koetter has made week after week after week. There’s tons of data that supports his position.

  130. tmaxcon Says:

jameis is a victim of a PC soft society that has lost it’s way.

glazers will screw this up just like they screw everything else up…

  131. Bobby M. Says:

Winston has one turnover or less….I would bet we win and I’m not even a fan of the guy. The problem is he consistently has two or more which is a proven formula we lose. He’s so consistent at it, that i’m convinced teams stack the line to stop the run and dare him to pass. If he drops back 30+ times, he’s going to statistically give you at least two turnovers….and if a team is +2 in the turnover category, there’s 85 or 90% chance of victory for the opponent. The formula has been working against Winston for a long time now. The NFL will stick with what is working until you prove it wont work. Its yet to be done and why I believe Koetter was hoping to throw a curveball at opponents with Fitz….problem is, he’s the pretty much a clone of Winston. Koetter is screwed until somebody can protect the ball. Its that simple. Protect the ball, this team can run with the best.

Winston will be auditioning for other teams the rest of the year. Hopefully he plays great so Bucs can get more for him. Then the new Bucs regime and brass can acquire their own true franchise QB

    Keep dreaming buddy.

  133. JimmyJack Says:

    Good points Bobby M.

Dirk’s offense is not helping us win the turnover battle either. Slice it any way you want but long passes are more risky. Just like passes into the middle.

This is why a lot of fans feel like Winston could be very successful in a less risky offense. Our is probably the most risky in the league.

  134. JimmyJack Says:

It’s why Fitz has struggling with turnovers before but I water he hasn’t put up this many turnovers.

  135. Lamarcus Says:

We can win with JW turnovers We need a defense who gives up 20 points a game I have seen Qb around the league have massive turnovers numbers and still win. Big Ben won with 3 or 4 yesterday. Bortles won also last year

We can’t win because of our defense is worst in HISTORY. In HISTORY. means out 10-20 thousands different lineups this is the worst. This regime planted this seed 2 years ago. It’s not JW fault as in the football aspect he is victimize by a losing culture. No Qb ever had to start with such below NFL standard defense and kickers. But JW knows he can’t lose games around here via his forces. I don’t care what anyone says. Jw is not a bust and currently a top 5 Qb talent that plays for a boo boo team.

  136. Buc4evr Says:

Whatever. Different QB , same result. Defense is so pathetic no offense can win. Turnovers, penalties, fumbles on offense…..all rotten. Tampa Bay Cucks.

  137. Tvan1011 Says:

Dont worry Joe, Jameis will do just enough to lose. The fact that you cant see it and are so afraid of moving on worries me you are risking the prestige of this website. First Johnny Manziel and now winston. You cant seem to let go very well and face facts. A man who works as hard as winston and still cant read defenses while sticking with his first option should worry every bucs fan especially joe bucs fan.

  138. JimmyJack Says:

First Down Tampa Bay…..Scoring 35 points sounds good on paper but it’s not going to win you anything when the offense lays an egg for the entire first half and goes down by three scores……Lakeland cue the halftime scores please.

I call that a blowout. That’s getting your ass kicked.

  139. Tvan1011 Says:

I bash winston because he deserves it, now he will either prove me wrong or all of you guys who seem to ignore the last 2 games. We shall see.

  140. Buc4evr Says:

42 days until we get the first pick. Just make sure Licht isn’t around to make it…idiot would probably take a kicker.

  141. JimmyJack Says:

Tvan……Winston does deserve it. He has played like crap this year. Some fans don’t wanna hear it and will name-call you for critism so do it at your own discretion.

  142. I’m a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

Well there you go Bucs Fans. No mo Fitzmagic this season. Famous will handle it the rest of the season. Folks are going to see #3 is not the answer. Sherman and the 9ers will pick Americas QB Sunday. The Bucs may actually have a chance to win a game Sunday, unless Famous reverts back to forcing things and turning it over which won’t surprise me if it happens. You can drop 21 Mill if you want but I think there are better options. Long rest of the season and a long off season to get rid of this nasty taste in our mouths. Don’t think it gets any better until Licht and Bit O Honey Dork are gone!!!,

  143. Dapostman Says:

Anyone with a logical brain could see this coming even after he was benched in Cincinnati. I told you he would start the last 6 games after the Bucs would be 3-7.There is only one thing to see. It’s to see if Winston can correct his turnover rate. We know he can throw. He can run when he has to. We know he cares about winning. We know he’s a hard worker and yes we know he’s a knucklehead sometimes. So all you Winston Derangement Syndrome simpletons sit back and watch the show. Like Mr Miyagi would say, win or lose no matter. You fight good fight earn respect.

  144. Lamarcus Says:

We have the highest passing yards and most turnovers means your scheme is garbage. It’s a desperate scheme to say the least. It’s so crazy I watch the opposite team safeties just run back like 20 yards down and yup our Qb looking to beat them. Wtf is that anyway? I think getting the wrong coach will set your franchise back more than a Qb will

  145. LakeLand Says:

    Pittsburgh 23-7
    Chicago 38-3
    Atlanta 21-6
    Cincinnati 21-0
    Carolina 35-7
    Washington 16-3
    NY Giants 24-7

Offensive turnovers contribute to every one of these deficits

And the Bucs haven’t came back from any of them

  146. LakeLand Says:

    0-7 in these games

  147. JimmyJack Says:

Yep I call those blowouts. That’s just nothing but a good old fashioned ass kicking.

  148. BucsBandit Says:

Anyone who thinks low draft position doesn’t matter is an IDIOT.

We’re not talking about picks 10-20 which definitely can be a crapshoot, but the Top 5 picks in the NFL Draft consistently produce the most All Pro players, and with the exception of QB busts, the Top 3 picks produce some of the top talent in league history.

The Bucs winning NOW for the rest of the season does our future no good at all. Tanking for the last 6 games can net us a game-changing player.

  149. Dapostman Says:

The Tampa Bay defense has given up a TD 89% of the time when an opponent gets in the Red Zone. 89%! Dead last. The Vikings are first at 40%. Middle of the pack at #16 is the 49’ers, this weeks opponent at 57%. 89% and folks want to blame the offense because they have turnovers but still average 26.7 points per game. #8 in the entire NFL. This defense doesn’t get turnovers and they don’t even hold teams to FG’s since they are also dead last in TD’s allowed with 42. The next worst team allowed 36.

  150. LakeLand Says:

The offense and the defense stinks

    That’s why they are 3-7

But some fans continue to fantasize about a TOP ranked offense

    29 turnovers in 9 games

7 deficits when they trails by 2 or more scores

  151. LakeLand Says:

    26.7 points a game

Yet they trail by 3-4 scores

    Mostly points against prevent defenses

Why not score 26.7 points early in the game

Before it get out of hand

  152. BucsBandit Says:

Lakeland – the Bucs Offense just isn’t that good. Our O-Line play is mediocre at best. We rarely establish a running game in the 1st half.

If the Offense played better (in 1st half) it would keep the Defense off the field more and allow them to rest a bit which definitely would improve their performance.

But the Bucs definitely need personnel upgrades on both sides of the ball.

  153. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

aaron donald strip sack fumble return for touchdown. Big fat softie gerald mccoy can’t do that

  154. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

aaron donald 13.5 sacks, big fat softie gerald mccoy 4 sacks

  155. Ndog Says:

So I guess Mahomes is a turnover machine and the Cheifs should get rid of him cause he just got strip sacked and had a stretch this year where he turned the ball over 9 times in 7 games according to the Jameis haters.

  156. LakeLand Says:

    BucsBandit

    I agree 100%

I want to see an offense that scores early and often

Not an offense that decides to play football after trailing by 3-4 scores

  157. LakeLand Says:

Kansas City offense has 9 turnovers for the season
Including the strip sack for the TD

The Bucs offense has 29 turnovers
    No comparison here

  158. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

Rams and Chiefs are real football teams

  159. JimmyJack Says:

Postman didn’t you see those scores? Those were blowouts. That means both sides of the ball are to blame.

Both sides got beaten badly. That’s why I asked Lakelend to post the scores. They are proof.

3 points. Zero? That is failure

  160. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Draft position only matters if you pick the right guy.

  161. JimmyJack Says:

Six friggen point……The other team scores 5 TDs and we have now answer after all 5?

    That is bad offense.

  162. JimmyJack Says:

Bucs Bandit your a bandwagon fan and top 5 isn’t as special as you wanna say.

Most HOF players that we’re first rounder were picked outside the top 5. And that’s a fact Jack.

Grow a spine and quit begging for more losses.

  163. DBS Says:

Ndog get a life. People here are talking about Winston College and Bucs career so far. Not a short stretch this year. Mahomes is 10 times the QB Jameis could ever hope to be.

  164. LakeLand Says:

You see how quick Kansas City offense answered the strip sack TD

It took them 1:37 to drive 69 yards and tie the game, before the half

That’s , what you call a good offense

  165. Dapostman Says:

89% of the time a team gets in the redzone they score. Not just score but score 7 points. Time to put the blame where it belongs on this historically bad defense. Why isn’t the defense forcing any turnovers? As bad as the Bucs offense is at turnovers (29) the defense is just as bad as creating a turnover (6). The facts are when teams get in the redzone they score TD’s. 42 Td’s allowed are 6 more than the next to last team. Maybe if the defense held a couple times a game those huge deficits wouldn’t be as big. You can blame the offense for their turnovers but this defense is more to blame with lack of turnovers and a historically bad redzone defense.

  166. Dapostman Says:

I would call getting a strip sack defensive TD a good defense.

  167. LakeLand Says:

    Dapostman,

The offense and the defense are bad

    That’s why they are 3-7

  168. Jameis Almighty! Says:

Goodness Gracious! Jameis Almighty has returned! Thank God!

  169. DBS Says:

Aaron donald another strip sack fumble …. F the big fat softie gerald mccoy

  171. Ndog Says:

Mahomes turnover machine according to the Jameis haters.

  172. Dapostman Says:

Sure the offense is to blame when they bog down and don’t score TD’s or turn the ball over but if you can’t see this historically bad defense is the main culprit you’re delusional. Every time the Bucs rally and make it a one score game the defense folds up and allows a score. Pretty simple to see. I’m out.

  173. wisconsinbucsfan Says:

dark days ahead… ATM 15-20 int 8 fumbles going to be a sh!tshow next 6 games

  174. JimmyJack Says:

  175. LakeLand Says:

Defenses are gassed late in the game

That’s why it’s so important to NOT fall behind by 3-4 scores

  176. LakeLand Says:

    JimmyJack,

The defense is the weakest link

But the offense suppose to be the strength
That’s how this team is built

But the offense is NOT a strength

  177. JimmyJack Says:

If Mahommes was in Tampa everybody would want a new QB because he would be awful of this amateur team.

  178. Ndog Says:

  180. JimmyJack Says:

That’s why I wanted Dirk out last year. Our offense was just as bad last year.

Leaving them to watch other teams’ successes for two solid months of inevitable bitterness. Mostly because of Mr. Magoo, by the way. Irony.

I remember the Freeman people at the end. Just one more, Daddy. How did that work out? Will you be cheering when Winston averages us past his decent replacement in the draft? This past quarter of football is not going to define Winston as a player. Everyone has eyeballs and the bad memories are burned into the psyche. Mahomes? Funny that he seems to be doing well as a rookie with a worse defense. Irony. Winston was supposed to be Mahomes. We have waited through every excuse imaginable. Are the players ready to give their all to make Winston his big contract? I fail to see what else they would be playing for.

See you people want us the draft a QB in the first round next year when we have the worst defense in THE HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE! Try giving a good, hopefully great one day, QB a chance by not saying oh by the way you have to play perfectly every game for us to win. That might be a wiser choice than drafting another QB and ignoring the worst defense in LEAGUE HISTORY.

And here we are with Joe not wanting to admit that Fitzpatrick did a solid job this year while Winston (our #1 draft pick) who we invested a hell lot of money into, is still average at best. Fitz was never drafted in the 1st round and surpassed expectations when playing. THAT’S the difference Joe. Fitz had a few bad games but he’s still had a better season than Winston until Winston proves otherwise when he comes back. Let’s wait for Jameis to have some consistent good games and maybe go one football game without throwing a pick before throwing up the palm palms for his return

Let’s wait for Jameis to have some consistent good games and maybe go one football game without throwing a pick before throwing up the palm palms for his return.

This is a prime example of when I say clueless. Mahomes has has 3 TO’s tonight 2 for TD’s but this guy think he great whike Jameis sucks, cause their winning. His defense scored a TD and setup another. Don’t you think if Jameis got that help he would win more? Think about what you are saying bro.

    Chiefs lost. #BlameJameis

  237. Fire Light Says:

Patrick is a jaggoff. Mahomes just threw a game ending INT. Jameis has 9 game winning drives.

  238. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

Mahomes scored 51 points but still lost because he turned the ball over 5 times. This is why we can’t win with turnover clown Jamies

  239. Fire Light Says:

4 INT’s for Mahomes. He blew the game. Oh wait. He’s an MVP candidate. MVP candidates have 4 turnovers… In Jameis I Trust.

  240. Fire Light Says:

Jameis is a gunslinger. He’s also a Champion with the stones to lead his team to victory late. Mahomes had two shots and could t do it. Jameis>Mahomes.

  241. gp Says:

I wonder if Mahomes is going to be benched after three interceptions and two lost fumbles

  242. TBTemojin Says:

Mahomes is a BUM!!!! 3 picks and 2 fumbles!!!! What a loser!!!! Andy Reid should bench that turd……. LOL only in Tampa…. SMH. Thank God Jameis is back baby!!

    Ndog

Name a QB that takes his team to the playoffs and wins a super bowl while turning the ball over as much as Jamies. I’ll wait…
    —————
I’ll leave this here for you but in short here are a few names that are season leaders in interceptions, I think a few have won super bowls but wtfdik.

    Eli did it twice
    Big Ben
    Peyton
    Drew Brees
    Joe Flaco
    Favre did it multiple times
    Kurt Warner
    Brad Johnson

Just goes to show most of you yahoos don’t have a clue

  244. LakeLand Says:

    Lol

Yucs fans trying to diss a 23 Phenom like Patrick Mahomes

The kid has 37 TD passes in 11 games

    And the Chiefs are 9-2

How many games has the Bucs won with Jameis?

    19-29

    LOL

Yucs fans are a bigger joke than the team

  245. Fire Light Says:

Most posters on here don’t have a clue. The ones that have a clue are the Jameis Fans, the ones that don’t are the Jameis Haters. INTs don’t matter that much unless you score less points than the other team.

  246. Fire Light Says:

LakeLand is the biggest D on the comments section. All the anti-Jameis stuff is a big reach most of the time. It’s clear you don’t like Famous Jameis. We get it. And I also get that you are a nincumpoop.

  247. Jameis Almighty! Says:

Nobody is dissing Mahomes. They are trolling idiots like LakeLand

  248. DalvinCookRules Says:

The best QB on this team is the guy with no pressure. That means it is ALWAYS the guy coming in relief.

That was true of Fitz taking over for JW in the first three games (a bad 1st half vs the Steelers notwithstanding) and then pretty much every other game the guy off the bench played BETTER (not counting Chicago either since that was a catastrophic team-wide failure).

So if JW falters in the first half, don’t wait until the 4th quarter, bring in Fitz at halftime.

  249. DalvinCookRules Says:

If the Glazers have not spent the past month and a half evaluating HC & GM replacements, then they are truly clueless.

  250. Anonymous Says:

Jameis did play better and probably deserves the start this week.

But I don’t think this changes anything longterm…unless he comes out looking like Drew Brees the rest of the way. I just don’t think the QB of the future is on this roster right now.

According to Jameis haters Patrick Mahomes is a turnover machine and should be benched for Fitz! 3 TO’s and 2 for TD’s in the same game cut him right Jameis haters?

This is the gross stupidity of the winston knob slobberers. He has 74 turnovers in 49 games. That stinks out loud and you know it. I’m so sick of you.

Does this mean we will have less articles about who is playing QB?

    Hope so…makes no difference.
