The inevitable happened today.
The Bucs lost because they have no defense, and the Ryan Fitzpatrick Experience ended like seemingly everybody but Dirk Koetter knew it would in a series of soul-sucking turnovers.
Eli Manning completed 17 of 18 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns.
It’s just too darn easy to carve up the Bucs, as rookie running back Saquon Barkley learned quickly — and often.
Ballgame!
The Bucs focused all week on starting fast, and they came out lifeless. Why?
Dirk Koetter kept saying Ryan Fitzpatrick gives the Bucs the best chance to win, but win what? It was a con job perpetrated on Bucs fans for the last month. Joe is glad it’s over.
Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback, returned and served up a beautiful display of how to not protect the football: fumble it into the end zone and let Mike Evans fall on it. Touchdown!!
Jameis settled down well after some very shaky, easily-could-have-been-picked throws. He finished 12-of-15 for 199 yards and two touchdowns plus a last-second pick.
Kudos to Peyton Barber for a hell of a game, 18 carries for 106 yards and a touchdown. And the Bucs’ offensive line deserves love for that.
It looks like Jason Pierre-Paul finished with 1.5 sacks, per the official scorer. So the 10-sack parade will have to wait as he now sits at 9.5 sacks on the season, unless the NFL stat gods make what appears to be the appropriate change.
Big win for the Buccaneers’ draft positioning. Hooray! … Ugh.
Stick with Joe for so much from unhappy locker room at the Meadowlands and more.

Final play was going to be high risk, not matter what.
One of those two possible picks earlier was not on Winston. It bounced right off Humphries hands. So don’t bother holding that one against him.
The fumble got lucky, but that fumble is still on Winston. The first possible interception was also on him. And finally, the last pick was on him.
Still, he threw one pick. Fitz threw three.
Winston scored on most of his drives. Had he started the game, we would have won the game.

It was a Hail Mary pass… not a “normal” interception. Our defense can’t stop anyone.. this is not on Jameis. He brought the team back today. The Bucs will regret passing on Derwin Jameis just like the Bucs will always regret drafting a kicker in the second round. These are the results.

Desean Jackson was at the root of all of Winston’s issues last year, and his lack of effort this year for Winston shows him as a selfish player. HE could have fought to keep that last pick from happening. No, he could not have caught it, but he could have prevented the pick.

This was the starters fault all the way. In no way was this close to Winston’s fault. Sure that last throw was terrible but Djax gave up on that play.

The final play you’re throwing it up hoping for a PI – even if D-Jax catches that ball the clock runs out. Watch the replay, all the guys were running deep and in the middle, guys weren’t doing outs, they weren’t playing for 15 yard outs, that literally wasn’t the call. In any case you’re talking about 23 seconds, no time outs, and at the 20, only like 2% of the time does that end with a score for the offense – unless it’s against the Bucs defense, then it’s 100% of the time.

Bucs draft a QB first. Never build a D. Never build a running game. So, they’re alway behind, QB can’t learn to protect the ball and he throws INT’s. Coach stands up week after week, never acknowleges the Offense is too high risk because of the deficiencies on the rest of the team. Give QB the Blame.
That said, QB isn’t blameless. He’s not careful with the ball and his behavior ruined the Bucs year before it started.

Typical Winston losing effort. I’ll give him credit for sparking a comeback, it was fabulous to see. But the turnover was a killer at the end. He also fumbled into the endzone and got lucky we recovered it. Like it or not, he seems to be our best option at QB. If we could eliminate the turnovers and have anything resembling a defense, we might have a chance. But this season is toast at week 10, as are most seasons for Buc’s fans

Why in gods name did Koetter go for it on 4th down in the 1st quarter down by only 7 points?????? A FG there and the game is tied and going into OT!!!! This loss is totally at the feet of Koetter. The Glazers need to fire him today, promote Todd Monken to interim HC and have Jameis be the QB for the rest of this year.
Evaluate the team and Jameis & Monken over the last 6 games to make an informed decision moving forward into 2019.

Ryan Fitzpatrick and DJax should be released on. They are taking up 2 valuable spots on the roster and have divided the fanbase and/or locker room. Fire Koetter today. Let Licht go tomorrow. We need a defense. We should hate this defense more than any quarterback on this team. This year’s draft we need to build a defense. For get quarterback . A defense is more important than any quarterback in the league. Look at the packers and Rogers is one of the best quarterback in the league but they have a losing record. I get it we know some of yall hate Jamies ok every body know it . We are not 1 quarterback away from the super bowl. Jamies is good enough we need defense and a running game.

Trade DJax in the offseason for a 2nd or 3rd rnd pick or a decent OL player, and go get Kelvin Benjamin, now that guy will fight for a ball and can stretch the defense as well.

How about a defensive line that can play stout. Vita Vea is supposed to be a run stopper. Gerald McCoy blocked out of gaps and Barkley runs through for 8-10 yards before he’s touched. The lines on both sides of the ball not too good. Ryan Jensen has been a bad investment. $38,000,000 tied up in McCoy, Jensen, Grimes and Golston, what a waste. Glazers are flushing money at has-beens.
JPP, Winston, Humpries, Barber and Howard all were bright spots today. As a whole this defense is just a whole lot of guys out of position, fundamentally bad tacklers and make every struggling offense look unstoppable.

He quits on critical plays, doesn’t stop complaining about everything, demands a trade, and has divided the locker room for his own personal gain (statistics). This is all coming from a veteran receiver in his 11th year. He needs to be gone after this year.

This was the worst possible outcome. Nobody believes Fitz is the future of this franchise, but JW is not either. He put up 4 TD’s in 4 drives… but. One he fumbled into the endzone for a TD. On two others he threw picks that were not caught. He’s the same ole JW with much better luck. He made a bunch of nice throws too, but don’t think for a second his performance today was anything other than what got him benched.
Also, the coaching. OMG. Barber is by far the best RB on the team (and IMO he’s a try hard guy with average talent). Quizz is just beyond awful. So 1st drive, 1st and 10 in the red zone, pitch it to Quizz????????????? WTF??????????

Reading the comments, it’s almost humorous that when the Bucs defense soiled the field game after game, it was always ‘Smitty Sucks’ or ‘Smitty’s Having All the Secondary Play Wy Too Far Off’. And yet, after the Scapegoat was banished to the desert, I never hear anything like ‘Dump Duffner’ or ‘Duffner’s Defense Sucks’. Is there a possibility NOW that Bucs fans are finally ralizing that the level of talent on this defense is REALLY low? And even more of a possibility that fingers are now pointing where they should’ve been pointing all along?
