Exciting Draft Bowl Next In Jersey

November 13th, 2018

“You guys ain’t catchin’ me, Ed. Call me before Christmas about Derrick Carr. No freakin’ way. And tell Licht to call me if you boot him out the door. I love that guy.”

Massive NFL Draft ramifications upcoming for our beloved Buccaneers on Sunday at the Meadowlands.

Get your head out of the gutter; that’s not why Ryan Fitzpatrick is starting.

The Bucs are 3-6 and the Giants are 2-7.

A win by the Bucs and they probably have no shot to finished ahead of the Giants in the coveted April draft order.

A loss by the Bucs and, well, things start looking a lot better for those who care more about draft picks than wins and losses.

It makes the game exciting and, frankly, Joe is pumped up. The Bucs can’t lose. Joe always roots for a victory and if the Bucs lose, there’s a silver lining that would set up another big draft battle the following Sunday at the Den of Depression when the Bucs host the 49ers. They currently have two wins.

As Love Smith always said, “Real football starts in November.”

For those wondering, Chucky’s one-win Raiders team has the No. 1 overall pick on lockdown right now. And they don’t need a quarterback, or do they??

Don’t worry there is no way the bucs have the heart to beat the Giants on the road.

Eli threw 3 tds last night and we wont stop Saquon or Odell.

Plus its gonna be chilly and windy. We can’t handle that.

  2. ChanEpic Says:

Eric is pretty spot on, Saquon should be salivating when he looks at bucs film. SALIVATING as he could run for close to 200 and contribute about 50-60 yards of receiving.

  3. Robert Says:

so sad already talking about draft picks

it’s a team sport, just cause man crush is toast doesn’t mean there isn’t more to talk about

  4. JJV Says:

Do we really believe high draft picks will make much difference with the Three Stooges in charge of the organization?

I don’t know/care about his cold weather woes, I had this guy (Catanzaro) on my fantasy team the year before last and he STUNK out loud. I’m not convinced he isn’t the same guy we saw in 2016 and that 2017 was an anomaly.

Now that the kicker has been kicked I just thought I would say, if I, an admitted ham and egger, can call it on this guy, how can Licht NOT see it?

JJV is right, it starts at the top.

  6. theodore Says:

I don’t understand this post. The Bucs are going 10-6.

  7. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

Time to break tradition, Bros. Glazer and fire DK yesterday. Get a jump on any potential acailable coaches, interview Buckner in-house for the gig and get on with a new day in Tampa Bay. Status quo will only sour the fan base and players further. “Coach softly…and put away this limp d___!”

  8. Lord Cornelius Says:

    I don’t want Carr.
    I don’t want Licht.

  9. Mike Johnson Says:

I see ole Theodore is ..sippin and smokin early huh? Just sit back and watch our Bucs single handedly resurrect Manning’s career come Sunday. Its..What we do best!

  10. Eric Says:

I hope they don’t do their usual thing and pussy foot around at the end of the season while other teams sign a good coach.

Glazer boys its time that you start doing things differently than you always have.

You got lucky on Dungy only because two guys you pursued, Spurrior and Parcells, rejected your offers. Plus nobody would give Coach Dungy a chance.

And you had Rich McKay guiding you, not Happy Humphrey.

Change the damn approach up PLEASE!

  11. Waterboy Says:

Chucky always need a QB he can never have too many!!

  12. Troy Says:

Ever think the Glazers are ordering that Fitz play? It has crossed my mind. Especially if they’re blowing the whole team up.

  13. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Another meaningless win like the last game of the year last year and it screws the bucs out of a better player and higher pick in the draft but it doesnt matter with licht pulling the strings he would have screwed it up like he has every single draft the bucs have had no rhyme nor reason for who he decides to draft

  14. MHBuc Says:

    Good call Troy.

The Glazers may look at this situation with Fitz and Jameis to give them an out on Winston. He derailed their season before it started because of the Uber incident and that plays a role in team psyche. If the heads of One Buc don’t see how that played out they’re blind and need to sell the team.

  15. MHBuc Says:

But then again… the team was 2-0 prior to the Glazers sitting the team down to discuss the Fitzpatrick benching. Everything always points back to the Glazers, but they signed off on Winston from the start and that was their first mistake.

  16. martinii Says:

For years I aways hated the thought of “Tanking for draft picks.” I would rather win one meaningless game on week 17 and lose the top draft pick than intentionally throw a game. For fans, players, coaches, owners and the franchise that would be the ultimate insult. And while I am about to write “Who gives a sh*t.” I won’t because I do care. Go Buc’s

  17. Cobraboy Says:

@ Waterboy: Gruden would have ZERO tolerance for the huge # of turnovers Winston generates.

  18. JabooBuc Says:

One thing that needs to happen assuming you keep the current regime in place (I realize that’s a big if) is fire the scouts. Our player evaluations are piss poor. We needed a Guard in the worst way and Alex Kappa is the best we could come up with? I took one look at this kid on film and could tell he was a huge project.

General rule of thumb, draft the 10th best Guard in the SEC before the best Division 3 player. I think most people understand this and yet here we are with a 4th and 5th round investment in that position and neither can play worth a damn.

  19. Loyaltotheend Says:

To think quite a few fans and members of the media wanted Gruden here ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

  20. JimmyJack Says:

Dang Joe ya gotta put that one on there. I’ll beg

  21. Eric Says:

Chucky will have the last laugh. He is in rebuild mode.

  22. 813bucboi Says:

i really think we lose out

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  23. Bangkok Buc Says:

Ahhh… Bucs draft talk before US Thanksgiving.
Seems like a right of passage for us fans. Lets just hope we have someone new and more capable handing in the draft cards in ’19

  24. Doctor_berto Says:

Need to get rid of Licht if we want to draft competent players.

  25. JimmyJack Says:

Bangkok……We get a nice present with our draft talk this year too! A new coach!!!…………I think I just might see a few other presents under the tree too…..maybe it’s a new GM or a shiny new QB? Ohhhh Maybe there’s a new set of owners or a President?

I’m giddy bro……….I hate you Bucs!!!

  26. stpetebucsfan Says:

We place entirely too much emphasis on where guys are picked in the draft.

It’s approximately a 50% fail rate for ALL the players in the first round and it goes up from there.

This is not to say the draft doesn’t interest me…it’s just that I do not go crazy like some here who believe what? That is had we lost that last game to N.O. we would have had a draft pick that would turn this franchise around. Yeah right!

4 years ago I was told by many here we HAD to have JW and if we get him we’ll go to the SB in 4 years. Right!!! I was all for drafting JW because I did feel he gave us the best CHANCE to find a difference maker. I’m not slamming JW btw….I’m slamming all of us who come up with these unreal pie in the sky expectations.

Losing a game for a 50-50 shot at a good player just never makes sense to me. There are NO sure things…again look at JW and MM….those two were LOCKS according to all the pre draft talk. Both may yet turn out ok but we’re 4 years in and how did those top two draft picks work out. Again Bobby Beathard perhaps the GOAT of all NFL GM’s ALWAYS traded down if he could get multiple picks in return to help offset those 50-50 odds.

And there is just old fashioned luck involved. We all agree that we’ve been desperate for a running back. I was totally excited by the prospect of getting Dalvin Cook…he played four games last year and four so far this year. Luckily we took OJ instead.

This year many here were gaga over Guice….how many games has he played?

I find the draft interesting but where we pick this year is not going to spell the difference in success or failure for this franchise.

  27. SchlomieBarmitzvahCircumScissorStein Says:

Maybe they’ll come out in brand new uniforms. The current uniforms make me think of the colors that would occur if someone added catsup to a Twinkie and then “wiped” with it.

  28. BigMacAttack Says:

If Licht stays at GM the Draft will be another total bust.

  29. Eric Says:

If only they looked that good Schlomie.

  30. JimmyJack Says:

Joe put my comment on there. I wanna see the Bucs beat the Giants then beat the 49ers & Falcons so I can drag myself to the den of depression and buy everybody a beer before our 6-6 team kicks off!!!!!

  31. El Buco Realisto Says:

If you are not talking about what New GM to hire and/or Which QB to draft, then you are just wasting time!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  32. BucsBandit Says:

1,000,000% the Glazers have “demanded” that Fitz starts the rest of the season — has to be the case. They’ve seen enough of Jameis’ poor play (in addition to the off-the-field stuff that surely had them debating giving this guy a long-term deal).

The Jameis Winston Era in Tampa is OVER. Winston will be cut before next season and the Glazers will save the $21M. Fitz will be the starter next year and mentor to a young drafted QB.

  33. GhostofSchiano Says:

Less than 2 weeks after Halloween and the draft talk has started.

    It’s a Bucs life.

  34. jerseybuc Says:

I have turned down 3 separate offers of tickets from friends. including one that was free tickets and parking. First year in last decade I haven’t traveled to Ray Jay either. I guess I am getting cranky. Show me something Sunday boys. Your jobs and careers are on the line. This Giant team is a joke, another O line that is a disaster. Two starters have been RELEASED in the past 7 weeks, including Omameh our former starter. We still have two Pro bowl D lineman starting vs them right? Let’s see.

  35. BrianBucs Says:

Time for the Bucs to draft a true franchise QB

  36. Fire Light Says:

Until Jameis plays! Booo Bucs. Let Fitz sink the ship.

  37. Flatout71 Says:

Glazers Koetter they don’t trust JW and would rather him not see the field than risk injury and that $20mil pay day trigger. Glazers have seen the tank job numerous times. They are counting the money this year. Clean house for next year. Get another toes on the line rah rah turd in here. Talk up change. Keep season ticket morons on the string another few years. Repeat. They cannot run a football team. Unless it is luck they ain’t got nothin.

  38. FortMyersDave Says:

I think Big Dusty Rhodes has a point from beyond the grave. The Bucs beat the Giants and the Niners is simply repeating what happened when Fitz started and won against the Jets and Dolphins, basically moved the Bucs from 3-13 to 5-11. Do I like the Bucs winning as Joe does???? Of course but I also see dusty’s point. Last year’s win over the Saints was an exciting finish and it revealed that Koetter is not a risk taker as he claimed that he wanted a dump off pass out of bounds to set up a FG instead of Winston going yard via Godwin. The win was nice but it did move the Bucs from 5 to 7 in the pecking order and thus got Vea instead of Chubb or Quenton Nelson granted that the Bucs did not make a trade with Buffalo anyhow and simply got a little more value (ie another bust) for the 5th overall as opposed to the 7th….. It is below average when we are reduced to discussing draft tanking, new coaches and a GM search before Thanksgiving.

  39. Fire Light Says:

Jameis won a football game and fans get mad at Jameis. Wow. A new low

  40. BuccYa Says:

“Interview Buckner in house for the gig” Ya cause his unit has been lights out this year. You people crowned this POSITIONAL coach to be the next Parcells before trading camp. Why?!?! Cause he yelled at Gerald once? Lot of good that did. News flash! BUCKNER DIDNT CHANGE ANYTHING!!
