Lessons From A Legend

November 7th, 2018

In the Redskins’ five wins this season, Adrian Peterson has 112 carries for 561 yards. That’s five yards a clip.

Pretty good for a 33-year-old guy running-back-needy teams like the Bucs thought was washed up.

Joe remembers asking America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, about his personal training time with Adrian Peterson before the 2017 season and whether he’d like to play with Peterson.

You can read Jameis’ answers here. In short, he was blown away by his time with Peterson and was eager to be his teammate.

At the time, Doug Martin was facing a three-game suspension following a dreadful 2016 season. And a week or so later the Bucs left the 2017 NFL Draft with running back SnoopDogg McPlaybook as a fifth-round pick and free-agent Peterson didn’t make the cut.

Now Peterson marches into Tampa on Sunday with the Skins, gunning for his second huge day against Tampa Bay in as many years. He dropped 134 yards and two touchdowns on Mike Smith’s clown cast 13 months ago as a member of the Cardinals.

When “A.P.” gets his touches and the Skins are not made to be one-dimensional, Washington wins. When they play from behind, they struggle.

What’s it going to be, Bucs?

  2. adam from ny Says:

can the team be potentially moving to london still???…what other excuse can be made for the debacle the bucs have delivered the past few years be leading to???…

    #EyeCantTakeThisAnymore

glazers: fire koetter for the hell of it right now…no need to hold on for now – let him go chill with smitty…let monken be interim and let fans know you are not happy and changes are coming…fans need something to get through the second half of the season

  3. adam from ny Says:

the first 2 wins of the season was a teaser…coming flying out of the gate only to crumble is worse than starting 0-3…it was a teaser before a crash and burn…worst thing you can do to an already staggering bucs fanbase…

forget the first 2 wins… we caught teams sleeping early…

we are 1-5 with our lone win being a tough struggle vs. the browns…

    we are almost 0-6

  4. LakeLand Says:

He should have 700 rushing yards after the Bucs game

  5. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    I swear to God…..

If AP gashes this team again…………..I’m gonna flip sh**!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The defense already sickens me every Sunday……..but letting it happen twice?!?!?!?!?!

    that ish better not happen

  6. Mike Johnson Says:

Here we go again. After the game Sunday, TV Networks will be talking about A huge contract comin up for AD. We always make other team players big money.
Skins got a plethera of injuries. Don’t matter cause they are playing us. This will be a physical game. Have your Ben Gay ready Fitz. Cause you’re gonna see the ground a lot. We could possibly win this shootout. I don’t know.

  7. FortMyersDave Says:

adam from NY; if any team is going to London it is probably the Jags; they have cornered the market on moving home games to Wembley each year, their owner tried to buy the stadium and every indication seems to point to Jacksonville possibly expanding their presence in the UK. As bad as the Bucs are, if they were to contemplate moving to the UK they’d be snapping at the bit to move a home game each year to London; instead it is Jacksonville taking the initiative. There is no agenda here; the Bucs are just a poorly run franchise whose owners seem happy to make coin on the fat TV deal that the 32 owners divide up….

  8. FortMyersDave Says:

I actually think that Lakeland may be a bit pessimistic here concerning AP as the Skins simply do not have an OL anymore so while they will score it will be through the air via quick passes scorching the horrid Buc secondary which will probably allow their qb to nickel and dime their way down the field so AP probably will not have a great day as he simply will not need one as the Bucs will probably overcompensate and shut him down but allow 85% pass completions as usual.. This could be similar to the Brown game and that is how the wiseguys are handicapping it with the Bucs favored.

I would not bet on the Bucs due to the fact that it is the Bucs but a lot of people think the Skins are ripe for the beating…. This could be due to the fact that a lot of NY and Philly trolls/fans like to bet against teams like Dallas and DC as much as they like to bet on their own team thus resulting in heavy anti-Skin betting so I think in reality the Skins should be favored. However, it is a winnable game and if a win could cost the Bucs a few slots in the 2019 draft and hurt them in the long run after Licht and Koetter are gone this is a likely scenario….. So my message to the pessimists is if you are really confident the Bucs are going to tank again, make money and put coin on the Skins and pull that money line back down!

    What FortMyersDave just said.

  10. Season Is Over Says:

Jason Licht chose the worst two RBs in the entire draft two years in a row. The Bucs laughed at Peterson two years in a row like we are going to laugh at Licht when he is fired. He is ultimately responsible for this mess no matter how much CNN/Joebucsfan covers for him.

  11. sbucs Says:

    Clean House. Completely.

  12. 813bucboi Says:

i thought dirk didnt want to sign AP because he couldnt catch the ball and needed about 20-25 carries to be productive?……

and if im not mistaken, plenty of folks were claiming AP was washed up too….

if dirk knew anything about player development, we wouldnt be in this situation…..

    clean house…..

  13. Eric Says:

Peterson got that 134 on us on basically one leg.

  14. LakeLand Says:

    FortMyersDave

Arizona had one of the worst O-Line in the NFL when AP torched the Bucs

  15. LakeLand Says:

    Arizona was 30th in rushing
    3.4 YPC

But they gashed the Bucs for 160 yards

  16. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Lakeland it is odd to me that people do not see what has been going on with this defense and team for the past 10 years, I want the bucs to win, but they need a product that can compete in the nfc south and nfl at a high level and the bucs do not have that

  17. Ludicrous Speed Says:

If Peterson doesn’t gash us again this week like he did last year it will only be because the Redskins lost 3 starters on the OL last Sunday. This is a guy we could have had at the beginning of August for the veteran’s minimum salary who could have really helped us.

(In my best John Belushi voice) But Nooo-oooooohhh.

We didn’t need a future Hall of Fame candidate because after all we had Peyton Barber and had just spent a high 2nd round draft pick on Ronald Jones who, like Mighty Mouse, was going to come in and save the day.

Or so thought Jason Licht and I could care less if he likes AC-DC or if he listens to the Carpenters, the Pointer Sisters or the Andrews Sisters, it makes no difference: he’s still a terrible evaluator of talent and lacks the wherewithal to build a competitive football team.

  18. Bucsfanman Says:

Who needs a RB?! We’re a “passing team” in a “passing league”!!!!!!! (sarcasm!)
Watching AP play this year has been an eye-opener for me. Compare him to Barber. At 48 or whatever age he is, he is light-years better than anything we have! How is that possible?!
My hunch is that coaching makes all the difference. Gruden>Koetter ALL day, E’ry day!
The Skins are banged up but don’t let that fool you. Our body of work suggests that this will be a “coming out party” for someone not in a Bucs uniform.

  19. Kansas95Buc Says:

From what I read, when Winston was working out with AP it sounded like he was trying to recruit him. If that’s the case, then Winston was trying to address the run game

Now, that’s something everyone likes. It’s a people idea. It’s a story a nation can sink its teeth into.

  21. Rod Munch Says:

Doug Martin has looked pretty good in Oakland…

Meanwhile the RB’s in Tampa continue to look like trash.

Maybe it’s not the RB that is the problem.

  22. bucanation Says:

Ive been a fan since 76 I am 55 years old the bucs were the only team I cared watching even in the early 0/26 but now it seems to b worse somehow now and I have never been so disappointed ,than this year I am just tired .

  23. bucanation Says:

I didn’t want to say this but it was the first time I turned the game off in the third quarter I could not watch it

  24. SOEbuc Says:

Haha. You never know what will exactly happen with who on what team really, but I remember so many JBF posters wanting AP when he was coming out cheap in the offseason when we only had Barber. Like I said, don’t know how he would be doing with our line, but 561 yards so far? That’s funny.

  25. SOEbuc Says:

“So as the Bucs new GM…We’re going to clean house trading Brate and LVD. Dropping GMC and DJax and Donovan Smith. I forget that guys name that was playing sh!tty at OG with a bunch of teams his entire career then was lights out at LT for us entire preseason. We will also be picking up good depth at LT to test out. Keep Kwon if the price is right after the ACL. Hump has to be resigned seeing as how he has the best hands on the team. He’ll still be in the four spot with a hope Watson can become an ace. Pay good vet CB and RT. See who’s on the market for FA RB and what the damage is. Draft LB,DT,RG one, two, three.”

“Finally…we’re going to pay an experienced coach with playoff history and knows both sides of the ball cus we’re done f#cking around. Your new GM SOEbuc is taking care of it for you folks. You’re in good hands.”
