The Bucs and 49’ers defenses are tied for the lowest percentage of drives ending in an offensive turnover @ 4.3%. The Niners do have one more INT for the year however, 2 vs. 1 for the Bucs. Except for the Lightning, we do tend to have a losing sports culture here in the Tampa Bay area. Rays are average, Bucs below average, USF average. I think the Glazers know they can keep average on the field and still make money.

Then Jameis generated 420 yards of offense and 4 TD’s against the Falcons but the D lost us the game. Then we won an ugly game vs the Browns, then he had his worst game as a pro and got benched. But then Fitz played like crap for 2 weeks and got benched. Now Jameis is back to playing pretty good Football for the most part.
The only thing that has sank this season is the coaching and defense.

I do agree too many Buc fans are negative nancy type. I used to be big Mariota supporter pre 2015 draft but he is not the Buc QB so I focus on the positive and what I have with Winston.
Find the positive regardless of the situation especially in hard times. Its a less stressful method of dealing with bad play- which we got a boat load with this team and coaches.

Jameis is playing well so far. The defense is allowing the team to run the ball keeping Jameis out of 3rd and longs. I would like to see a better 3rd down conversions because maybe they get away with leaning on their defense this game but better offenses kill us, especially with more opportunities. Today our defense is playing well and Jameis is looking smart.

Magoo has no touch deep. He is accurate though on check downs and those 10 yard passes when a receiver stops when they find an open spot in zone coverage. He has a great arm, but he is inaccurate.
I am not dissing him or hating on him. I am only stating what I observe. In 4 years he has not improved on his throws much. Is he a franchise QB, in the sense of leading teams to Super Bowls? At his current development, I would say no.
At best he is an average QB. He needs a better team around him to carry him.

As someone who’s not a brain dead hater, I can say we’ve seen enough to know Jameis will never be as accurate as Brees or Manning or Brady.
We knew that before he was drafted too. That doesn’t mean he can’t be successful in the right system. We can tolerate him until we can replace him with someone better. The turnovers are the one main issue. Can he consistently cut them down or not? 6 games left to see.
Not sure what’s up with Djax, he’s hit him once or twice but missed far too often on the long balls. But with Evans or OJ or Brate or Godwin or Hump he is able to hit them just fine, in stride and on bombs when they throw them.
The fact is we need consistency. But it’s not just him, it’s the whole team. Worst defense in the history of the NFL. How many teams have ever had winning records with the worst defense in the NFL??? Can’t put that on the QB, no matter how much the trolls wish they could.

I don’t think Jameis is the greatest QB, he is an average QB right now, right now.
He has shown flashes that he can get much better and also signs that he could be wild and get worse.
I have not made up my mind that he will get worse and since he is MY teams QB, and former 1st overall pick who HAS shown glimpses of greatness..,,I cannot just say I’ve seen enough, and apparently the Bucs haven’t either.
There are only 5 or so elite QBs, 5 or 10 good ones and maybe 10 AVG ones. AVG QBs can still win championships if they have the coaching and team around them.

No. No. No. I do not like to see my Bucs lose. Heck I was even in favor of drafting Winston back in the day. The problem is he has not really gotten better in 4 years as a pro.
Today he looks good. But, he playing against a beat up, not very good team. We will see what happens against better competition as the season concludes. Keep that in mind.

Winston has 1 turnover or less…overwhelming majority of the time we win. Two or more, 80% chance we lose. He’s played good. Not sure you make too much of out dueling a 3rd string QB on a 2-8 team, but he’s done what you hope for.

I’ll give Jameis credit, he has been effective and not reckless today. But this is part of what has always driven me crazy about him! He has games like this where he looks like an upper level QB….and then he has those games where he Takes stupid chances and repeatedly turns the ball over. It’s taken us 10 games into the season for him to play like this! If he hadn’t gotten himself suspended the first 3 games of the season, maybe he would have looked better earlier in the season.

Not everything is black and white, I’m happy for each and every player that played well today, but I am a firm believer that when your season is over the best thing you can do for your future is tank for a better draft pick.
