49ers Star LB Jailed In Tampa

November 25th, 2018

San Francisco LB Ruben Foster.

Update: 8:48 a.m.

One of the top young linebackers in the NFL may have his status for the 49ers-Bucs game today in jeopardy.

San Francisco linebacker Ruben Foster was arrested Saturday by Tampa police on suspicion of domestic violence battery. The arrest happened just after 9 p.m. at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay hotel, per Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Bail has yet to be set at the time of this writing. Per Branch, members of the hotel’s valet service told him an ambulance had to be called before Foster’s arrest.

It is not the first time Foster has been involved in a domestic dispute this year. Previously, Foster had charges dropped; he was accused of slapping around his girlfriend. Then, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said the team had a “zero tolerance” policy on players abusing women.

If Shanahan’s words are true, then it is possible Foster will not play today. Provided he can come up with bail money this morning. If a judge allows him to post bail.

Update: 7:49 a.m.:  Per Amanda Ciavarri of WFLA-TV Channel 8 who is covering this story, barring something unforeseen, Foster will likely be in his Hillsborough County cage at least until this evening.

Update: 8:48 a.m.The 49ers announced they have released Foster.

He’s had issues since he’s been drafted. This is no surprise

  2. tmaxcon Says:

shannan has a zero tolerance policy on domestic violence and the bucs led by cacner93 and glazers have a ZERO TOLERANCE Policy on Winning and Competing at a NFL Level.

  3. AfrikaThaRapper Says:

    @tmaxcon……Nice.

  4. WalkdaPlank Says:

No need to worry, Jameis will make his replacement look like Patrick Willis.

  5. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

tmaxcon has zero tolerance for ingenuity.

  6. DalvinCookRules Says:

Walkda, and what would Fitz make him look like? The QBs are both up-and-down–that kind of inconsistency points to some deeper issues with this team.

  7. WalkdaPlank Says:

I don’t disagree with you sir

  8. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Such fan loyalty around here…

On topic, since when do the girlfriends of players travel with a team? Is this a common thing?

I’ll never get these players like this. They work hard, but if they manage their personal lives right, they can be set for life. Such wasted opportunities.

    DalvinCookRules

Perhaps it’s time to change your name.
Last I checked your boy was averaging 3.6 yards a carry, that’s when he actually plays.

  10. Pete I Says:

If they arrest the other 21 starting players and the coach, maybe the Bucs can…win? I’m sure our QB play will make up for any deficiencies the 49ers may have.

  11. Dooshlarue Says:

In other ironic news, our choirboy GMC was tucked into bed in his Batman Jammies at 8:30 last night.
He wanted to be well rested so he can play patty cakes today and have extra energy to dance on the sidelines.

  12. Darin Says:

Unless the laws have changed he should not be getting bail anytime soon. Good ole OJ changed all that, and thank goodness. Throw away the key if these clowns hit women. Allegedly of course

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Maybe he slapped around one of Warren’s hookers….

  14. DI Says:

Nice. Using domestic violence as a segue into McCoy bashing. Real classy folks here.

  15. Dooshlarue Says:

    Alleged domestic violence.
So quick to judge aren’t you?
    Classy.

  16. Christopher Says:

Isn’t this like the 3rd time for this guy? I’ve lost respect for John lunch not cutting him and letting go of Eric Reid. Looks like he made the wrong move ala Licht with Jameis.

  17. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

You’re right Doosh, we nieed dudes like Foster that beat the sh1t out of women rather than a nice guy! Grrr! At least your screen name is appropriate.

  18. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

You’re so right Doosh. We need more dudes like Foster that beat the crap out of women rather than a good decent person playing for our Bucs.

  19. Knoxville Bucs Fan Says:

Ignorance is at a all time high in Tampa. Classless fans jump on the opportunity of a man getting arrested to spin this back to the Glazers,McCoy, and Winston. Idiots

Doosh which one of the commenters or Joe were you offended with? Who was not classy?

  21. Jimmy Says:

If John Lynch cuts this guy, Jason Licht should be all over him. This dude has dog in him unlike pvssy GMC who plays with Batman dolls.

  22. stpetebucsfan Says:

“If Shanahan’s words are true, then it is possible Foster will not play today.”

If his words are true then Foster will ABSOLUTELY not play or dress today. If they’re really true Foster would get suspended for the remainder of the year.

Valets reporting an ambulance was called!!! Another charge just this year.

TMAX You are totally devoid of ANY critical thinking skills.
So you believe men who beat the hell out of their women make the best football players. That is just not borne out by facts nor logic.

Being a thug doesn’t prevent you from being a good football player…but it doesn’t help and when you factor in the off field PR hassles it is NOT worth it.

Again too bad that unlike me you never had the chance to see your old man beat your mother’s head against a wall until you literally feared for her life. But hey..Greg Hardy does exactly what my old man did except worse…he’s a giant of a man but such a wuss he still felt the need to introduce firearms into that situation.

Men who beat women are filthy scumbags…I don’t like the stench when they are around.

  23. Bucs Nihilist Says:

    Jimmy

This guy should start a relationship with your Mom and then she would have some dog in her. Savvy?

Jimmy is getting uoset! Hands off Jimmy! Don’t touch Jimmy!

  24. Chris Cotten Says:

    Bucs 34
    9’ers 13

  25. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    49RS……RELEASED FOSTER!!!

Hey…..we need LBs and he’s in town…..get a uniform ready and suit him up….who cares if he is a scumbag?…..(sarcasm)

Oh…that’s right, we don’t want to win…..let’s get a better draft pick (extreme sarcasm)

Everyone knows….as Joe says….you play for the playoffs or you play for the draft….you don’t play to win. #Losing Culture

  26. Zwak Says:

Im thinking she didn’t travel with the team he flew her there.

  27. ChanEpic Says:

Bucs fans troll their own players more than the opponent. It’s beyond tired.

  28. Fire Light Says:

The Bucs should sign him! Come on Licht! Sign Foster!

  29. Fire Light Says:

This country is innocent before proven guilty. The Bucs need a LB and he’s already in town. No plane ticket needed. Suit him up today!!

  30. donuts Says:

    #GoBucs. Never quit.

  31. Fire Light Says:

How is this seriously not being discussed? The Bucs need to sign this guy ASAP. It’s a probable cause misdemeanor allegation.

  32. Fire Light Says:

Ah.. no bond. Damn. Just when there was hope for the defense, Ruben Foster can’t get out of jail.

Maybe if your soft mentally weak career losers had heart and character they would get trolled less. Maybe you should cheer for men instead of embarrassing clowns like cancer93 etc….

    Already Drinking this morning?

  35. ATrain Says:

Why is it anytime someone makes a negative comment on Jamies there is always a reply like FITZ WOULD BE WORSE

If Jamies is an ELITE compare him to Elite QBs

Also the Jamie’s Lovers never say its False

  36. Dooshlarue Says:

    Man, what a hassle!

  37. Mike Johnson Says:

Don’t mean nothin. 49ers just might use this as a rallying Cry and kick our A’s right here in Raymond James. Unlike us, teams don’t need much to give them an incentive.

  38. MJC Says:

How does a discussion on a 49ers player abusing his girlfriend turn into a QB debate. Are you all fans and want the Bucs to win?

Jameis is starting today. I’d rather him have a great game and win then moan and complain about him playing.

I just want to win a game.

  39. DI Says:

    @Dooshlarue

It doesn’t matter if it’s alledged or not, that’s not the point. Domestic violence is the issue here. Not how soft a defensive lineman is and especially not how we should pick up a person who is accused of hitting a woman.
