Time For Koetter To Shine

October 21st, 2018

All eyes on him.

It’s sink or swim time for Bucs coach Dirk Koetter.

Those were pretty much the words from the creator, curator and overall guru of Pro Football Talk, the great Mike Florio. Last week while hosting PFT Live, seen weekday mornings on NBC Sports Network, Florio said the remaining 11 games of the season will determine how good of an NFL head coach Koetter is.

In the wake of his dismissal of defrocked defensive coordinator Mike Smith, Florio said that leaves no room for error.

“He’s going to be next,” Florio said if there is another coaching move in Tampa Bay before Super Bowl week.

It’s hard to argue with Florio on this. While the move had to be made by Koetter because the defense was so grotesque, if new defensive coordinator Mark Duffner cannot stop the bleeding, or if the offense cannot take advantage of a defense that plugged the leaking, Koetter has nowhere to hide.

“This is his year,” Florio said. “This is his time.”

The first chapter of the Smith-less defense will be written today.

Adding to the no-room-for-error line Joe used earlier, if the Bucs lose to the moribund Browns today, stretching the losing streak to four games, barring a total turnaround by the Bucs in the final 10 weeks, you can almost smell the bleach from the coming housecleaning.

We all know what Team Glazer does with head coaches who have two consecutive losing seasons without winning a Super Bowl.

Cleveland is a solid team…weapons that will hurt the Bucs

RJS going to be mighty quiet in the 4th quarter

If the Bucs lose to Cleveland……………IF they lose——-

It’s now time to clean house

Koetter, you’re a great offensive coordinator, your just not HC / Teambuilding material………..

CLEAN HOUSE GLAZERS……………and get rid of your crotch grabbing QB too

Horse feathers. You can’t build a dominating franchise by changing the HC every two or three years. A little help on the OL and we’re good for years. Focus on the D with the draft and a veteran FA or two, and look to upgrade the coaching staff. Stick with Koetter and Licht. We have never had a more promising offense than we have right now. Fix the D and we have a contender.

If JW#3 is jitting the bed, pull him at the half and install Fitz!

  5. Buc4evr Says:

This could be the game that gets Koetter fired tomorrow. I expect our defense to fold like a deck of cards and the offense to have a lot of turnovers trying to catch up in the second half. I just hope Licht gets canned also.

  6. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ Buc4evr

Koetter won’t get canned until the end of the season

But yeah, our defense will give up the booty for sure

I can see Baker Mayfield going totally nuts with Jarvis Landry……………it’s going to make me sick………..I may turn the game off by halftime if it gets totally outta hand again like the bears game

  7. Buc4life Says:

Of course here come the pull Jameis chant. This article is about Koetter/Duffner making our defense to at least below average and not the worse in history. Jameis and our offense would be fine if the defense can make a few stops.

  8. Kord Says:

If our linebackers don’t end up 15 yards away from somebody in coverage all game we will be fine, hope they got their communication figured out, let’s go Duffner!

  9. Mike Johnson Says:

Time for Kortter to Shine? Well if he loses to the Browns today..it will be time for him to start interviewing at a nice little divisional 2 college!!!

  10. MadMax Says:

BUC4LIFE….OK DONT PULL HIM AND LET HIM KEEP THROWING INTERCEPTIONS….yeah, dont think so!!!
